It happened at 9 30 last night on tree boulevard in concord. Firefighters rescued a cat from one of the units. Neighbors reported hearing explosions. Propane tanks on the balcony with are the fire started could have made pops that sounded like explosions. Two were treated but they did not have to go to the hospital. 6 05 is our time. One man is dead after a shooting in San Francisco. It was over the eagleside district last night. Two men were shot outside of a barbershop. A man in his 20s died. Another man was in his 50s and taken to the hospital. Lots the of People Living in the sunset district in San Francisco saw a twoalarm fire. They posted this video showing the smoke reporting from the back of the home near 21st avenue. Sky 7 was over the area minutes later. Three people were hurt. In the east bay surgeries are being rescheduled after a fire forced patients out of hospital operating rooms. Flames broke out inside a second story boiler room yesterday afternoon. At the Contra Costa County health facility. Katie has the details. It smelled like a gas or a chemical smell. We started getting a little lightheaded. Lightheaded . Yeah, it was really scary. And raised Blood Pressure as people prepping for surgery evacuated the Contra Costa County health center. We were on the second floor and she was getting her gown on and we were getting ready and prepared and then the fire alarms went on. Fire filled the boiler room in the middle of the hospital. You are always worried about particularly the smoke. In this particular case it was a fuelfed fire, meaning the boilers themselves are powered by both natural gas and diesel fuel. We had two patients in the operating room. They were able to complete the surgeries safely and effective. Those patients were recovered on the third floor instead of the second floor. As firefighters extinguished the flames, nine units evacuated to safer areas of the hospital. They said the building is constructed for emergencies. There are fire barriers and smoke barriers designed to hold the fire at bay for up to two hours. The hospital closed to emergency patients for more than four hours and diverted ambulances to facilities in concord. Once pg e restored gas service, the hospital reopened. No one was injured. In in martinez, abc7 news. In Fremont Police are still on a scaledback search for a woman this morning. Sky 7 was over the search in the sundale neighborhood yesterday afternoon. The woman and three others are accused of stealing a womans purse at gunpoint. It was at an elementary school. The search forced three schools in the area to be put on lockdown. Residents of one east bay neighborhood are angry and they want action from east bay mud claiming the utility failed to repair a landslide that happened on its property seven months ago. Reporter the residents said they have seen enough of this. A large landslide that happened seven months ago. Its on east bay mud property and it hasnt been fixed since. The house hasnt been fixed, the hill hasnt been fixed. Rain is coming. And tim alford and his family have no idea when they will be able to move back into their home. Is it frustrating . Yes, frustrating. Its frustrating and stressful. Three kids and a family. Very fortunate and blessed that no one was injured. This is a lot of our possessions from the home. Its just all stacked up. Denniss home is also too dangerous to live in. He said a smaller slide in january should have been a red flag for east bay mud. They had an outside geotech firm come and evaluate the area in january. The report indicated that if it continued to rain, the entire hillside was in jeopardy. Abc7 news obtained a copy. The report. In it the geotechnical expert warns, quote, additional and potentially more significant movements could occur if the landslide is not stabilized. Two months later the entire hillside gave way. The slide is a complicated one. Andrea is a spokesperson for east bay mud, which is now being sued by the homeowners. What we have learned since it occurred in march is its a mapped naturallyoccurring historical slide area that predates the houses that are there. So what weve been doing right now is it to monitor the slides to see if theres any movement. We will continue to do that in the winter. They are just walking away from us and wish maybe we will go away, and we might. We might slide all the way down that hill. East bay mud has put plastic sheeting over the area but there are no plans to perform any repairs anytime soon. Abc7 news. Now to Hurricane Matthew. Powerful winds, storm surges and torrential rain has hit the southeast coast this morning. More than 1 Million People have lost power in florida. We are live in florida with the latest. Lauren, good morning to you. Chris, just this morning, Hurricane Matthew bringing tornado watches to parts of the carols. Its hard to believe 24 hours here the winds were so strong you could barely watch. The storm downing trees and worse, and it continues moving north. Reporter the deadly hurricane wreaking havoc as it moves up the coast. Overnight matthew bringing rain, storm surge and destruction to South Carolina. Flooding roads, downing trees and driving cars off the road. An eerie light show on this highway as multiple powerlines explode. The powerful scat goer 2 hurricane has weakened, but continues to show its force. States of emergencying declared in georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina. The best thing now is to just is hunker down. Stay in a safe place. Dont move, dont try to move around. This, after pummeling florida. Sounded like a train hitting the house. Thats all i can say. The wind was so strong. A Home Security camera captures the moment Rushing Water crashes into a home. Whole roads getting washed away. St. Augustine, one of the hardest hit areas. Lisa argen is tracking the firm. Lisa, as lauren mentioned, the storm is weakening as it goes north. Right now. We are at a category one with winds of 75 miles an hour. But i have saw the sunshine out behind her. But as this continues to move up the coast, its actually the eye wall that is lashing the shoreline. So the eye is offshore. And its beginning to slight turn. The pressure is rising. But look at all this rain. We are looking at anywhere from ten inches, perhaps a foot and isolated 15 inches. Then we are looking at the storm surge. Not only the showers, the thunderstorms, tornado watches and warnings in effect for the coast of North Carolina. So we are not only looking at this along the coast, but well inland as those tributaries and the rivers rise. Remember, this is low country here. Just at about sea level. With that storm surge we are looking at flooding throughout the day. And then it moves out to sea tomorrow. Look what happens. It kind. Takes a loop and back towards the bahamas by next week. So conditions will rapidly improve throughout the afternoon, but the wind gusts still up to 50 and 60 miles an hour along the Coastal Carolina region with the rivers beginning to rise. Happening today, officials in Santa Clara County will hold a meeting to provide loma fire victims with more information. The loma fire is 95 contained and holding it just under 4500 acres. Flames have destroyed 12 homes in 16 out buildings and the fire has been burning for nearly two weeks. The meeting will be on summit road in los gatos. It starts at 10 00 this morning. You can see it here right off charleston. They have seen anywhere from 8 to 9 inches of rain around savannah. Hilton head island had wind gusts of 87 miles an hour overnight and 71 wind gusts around beauford, South Carolina. Sustained wind is 60 miles an hour. Rain is lashing the coast. The eye is actually offshore. Its the eye wall with the heaviest rains of that been batter the coastline here. So with all that heavy rain and the storm surge with that water piling up around low country, the rivers are going to be rising in the next several hours. So not only are we looking at flooding concerns, but Tornado Warnings in effect for north and South Carolina here. So these are thunder storms that can become dangerous, spawning tornadoes, still look at all the very heavy, heavy rain. There are breaks in the rain. But here comes the flooding and the storm surge. It will move out to sea. So by tomorrow things calm down significantly. It wraps around and is really situated off the bahama coastline for monday. We will keep you updated on that. Unfortunately no flights going in and out of the south and North Carolina coast. Back home it couldnt be quieter. Clear conditions, no wind to speak of. We are looking at a beautiful shot from mt. Yesterday it was 82. 86 petaluma. 84 in oakland. Should see about 70 for your hype. 94 in brentwood. So average highs ten to Fifteen Degrees above average. Look what happens in a week. For the second time designers were asked to build installations, interactive art that could be chosen for a permit place on the wide sidewalks of Market Street.
