Fremont police were called to the seen around 8 30 last night they launched a helicopter to look for a person of interest but were unsuccessful. Police are calling the mans death suspicious, but will not say why. Miles canyon road is now open. A deadly beating at a bay area gym leave friends of the victim stunned. They are asking how could this have happened . And the man spoke with his daughters minutes before his arrest. Kenneth osaka killed 43yearold Diego Galindo. Losing Diego Galindo has stunned the meat market he worked at as a butcher for ten years. His fellow employees are collecting money for his funeral. He was close to my kids. He grew up with the kids and took care of them. Soccer practice movies to the beach. Galindo was bludgeoned to death at this Bally Total Fitness Center in south San Francisco. 46yearold kenneth osaka, a plumber from south San Francisco, was arrested. The police say he struck Diego Galindo in the back of a head with a steal gym bar. Osakos daughter told us why. He said he came in and a man was trying to talk to his girlfriend. His daughter said she spoke to her dad shortly after it happened the day of the accident. Ive seen my dad get overtaken by anger before, but i cant imagine him being so angry. She suspects her father is bipolar, but hes never been diagnosed. Police served a search warrant at his home and gathered evidence. The daughter apologized to the galindo family. I apologize. In south San Francisco, alan wang, abc7 news. Concern is growing this morning for a teenage girl from santa rosa who has been missing for more than two days. Family members say they last saw the 16yearold rebecca weaver in her bedroom wednesday night. The 58, 145pounder is believed to have run away. Rebecca has a medical condition that requires medication, but she doesnt have it with her. Family members say a recent breakup with a boyfriend may have prompted her to leave. The family of the man shot and killed by a Richmond Police officer last week will hold a a rally and a News Conference today. Police Officials Say 24yearold Richard Perez was unarmed but trying to take the officers gun during a struggle last saturday night. According to the perez familys attorney, several witnesses dispute the game. A rally will be held today at noon at nichols park following funeral as much as for perez. He said hes sorry and he said it many time yesterday. Roger goodell and the nfl broke their silence after many days. Reporter after seeing the channel 7 news story i realized that this is exactly the right place. She is talking about her decision to adopt tank and dobbin. They are healthy, welltrained horses, but they were almost killed and sold has horse meat. Thanks to her and her friend they are now living the good life in novato. He has a great disposition and demeanor. I kind of fell in love with him. The women learned about the huge glut of unwanted horses from an abc7 news story. The soaring costs of hay and the long drought are giving many to give up on their animals. Especially in the central valley. People need to feed their family or feed their horse. The lucky horses end up here the rescue center for abandoned horses. And abandoned horses started in the bay area and just moved to a new 400acre home south of hollister. There are 70 rescued horses here now. Monica runs the nonprofit center. Shes had amazing success rehabilitating horses and finding them homes. But shes also struggling to pay for hay. 8,000 a month minimum. Now the good news. As soon as abc7 news learned about the situation, help started pouring in. I got 600 emails in 24 hours. Monica said people are volunteering, donating money and sending warm words of encouragement. Some simply showed up at the ranch with cash, including the woman who delivers the mail. Her name is brenda. She pulled up and said here you go. And she gives me a one hundred dollars bill. Since the story aired, the center received 12,000 in donations and heard from lots of people looking to adopt. K including apn and kristina. Its critical that people step up. And at least give rescue a chance. You think, oh, rescue horses they are old, they arent rideable, but thats not the case. There are so many that are perfect. The rescue center does have a number of older horses including 30yearold sami, who appeared on abc7 news and is now getting a foster home. They deserve a good life. This man helped the rescue center buy their new home. It was because of the phenomenal abuse the horses go through. And it touched a soft spot in my heart. Monica said all the support and public attention have given her more determination to keep the rescue work going. The story has really changed everything for us.
