Abc7 News Reporter Lisa Amin Gulezian has the details. This is the sausalito marina. Reporter forty feet of scorched fiberglass is pulled from the sausalito marina. It was a pleasure craft owned by this man in the black sweatshirt. It was cruising along the bay carrying five children and three adults when the boats owner saw smoke coming from the vents. He called for help. Because it was pretty hot and they didnt know what to do. I asked him to put on life jackets and then get in the water. But before jumping into the cold water, the owner made another distress call to a nearby boater. So the owner of the boat was able to fire a warning flare toward the other boat, grab his attention and they jumped in and the other boat came over and picked them up. They were in the water about five minutes but just after they jumped fire consumed the boat. Firefighters heard two life explosions and were forced to stay back. They shot water from their fire boats and eventually pulled the water out and brought it to a nearby area. Long time boaters cant stop talking about what they call a rare situation on the water. Outrageous. Ive never heard of anything like that on the bay. A fire on the boat is devastating, really dangerous. Im curious what caused the fire and i imagine thats why they are trying to get it out of the water so they can investigate and find out. The boat will be taken to san rafael, and investigators will take a closer look at the remains. In sausalito, Lisa Amin Gulezian, abc7 news. There is renewed urgency this morning in the search for the missing malaysian jetliner. Chinese media reported a chinese ship detected electronic pulses in the indian ocean not far from where an intense search is going on, but the head of the multinational search is stressing while its been encouraging sign, the source of those sounds is not yet verified. Abc News Reporter chuck sievertson has the latest. The reports of a chinese ship heard a pulse signal using the same frequency emitted by black boxes could be the break the world has been waiting for. This if that is sustained, in other words, if they heard it on a continuous basis, then they may actually have something. A kind niece plane also reported seeing debris near where the pulse was heard. Now the multinational fleet of planes and ships scouring the south indian ocean are in a race to find the ping quickly before the batteries in the flight and cockpit recorders fall silent. I think the warranty runs out sunday. We may get four or five days after that. And if they are really good batteries we might get a week or so longer but wear getting pretty close. Two ships were launched to listen for the pings but they will need to be within one mile of the pings to hear them. A daunting task when the search covers 83,000 square miles, the size of kansas. Authorities vowed not to give up in malaysia. We will continue to search. We owe this to the families of those on board. Its been nearly a month since Malaysia Flight 370 with 239 souls on board vanished without a trace. While theres been no link between the signals and the missing 777, there is hope. Chuck sievertson, abc news, new york. Malaysian Airline Flight 370 took off from the airport en route of beijing almost a month ago, march 8th. Five days later on march 13th a bombshell revelation emerged, suggesting the plane flew four hours longer than originally thought. This socalled small court groceryonly store is onefourth the side of a fullsize walmart and represents some of the changes coming to bay area supermarkets. Walmart said its designed to get shoppers in and out in 15 minutes during the week and in an hour on the weekends. You can easily double that in a larger store where you might get held up in a longer checkout line with people buying furniture or appliances. Its also aimed on capitalizing on a shift in consumer shopping. You see more and more consumers shopping at the deep Discount Centers at the low end or going to a Specialty Retail on the high end and the middle is getting rationalized. Ultimately consumers have to decide what Level Service they want. At this walmart, for example, there are no butchers and no organic vegetables like other Grocery Store chains. There are people who regard golf courses that way, and the legends course designed by Jack Nicklaus and the hills qualifies. The way it sits into the valley and the greens. Golfers who know and love this course say especially after the recent spring rains it has never looked better. But they better look fast because a week and a half ago management turned off the water here. This golf course is about to become a victim of the drought. They need to do desalination plants along the coast, is what they need to do. Both pull water from the california auquaduct. When the drought hit the state cut off every single drop except what the courses had banked in wetter years. So management had to make a tough choice, one course or the other, and the legend uses 400acre feet of water per year. In terms of dollars thats probably a little more than 800,000. To water it . To water it. Just this one course. So the legend goes, and the ranch course surrounded by homes stays. For superintendent carl king its like presiding over a loved one with a death sentence.
