Still nearly cut off by a 300foot mudslide. Our lives have been totally turned upside now. Reporter now freedman and her neighbors wonder when county officials will come to their aid. As it is, they can walk over the slide toward clayton, or drive a treacherous onelane road 45 minutes to livermore. We dont have garbage pickup. We have to ferry our garbage through the closure. No mail delivery. The fire and emergency services, there is a truck down near the closure, but its not manned. All in favor. Reporter this morning contra costa supervisors did act, passing a resolution to expedite the repair of the roadway wiped out by the slide. Were working very hard. Theres a lot of pieces. Were making sure its safe, were trying to make sure its stable. Its going to take a structural fix. Reporter the countys public works director told us it could take four weeks to finalize a plan for a retaining wall at the slide site. The more immediate goal is to find residents a safer way out. We are looking for alternative access routes through the community, either down to another section of Morgan Territory road below the slide or onto marsh creek road itself. Reporter in the meantime residents will have to continue to make do, schlepping themselves and their supplies around this. Laura anthony, abc 7 news. No one was hurt when a small plane made an Emergency Landing at mineta san jose airport. Sky 7 was overhead after the cessna landed safety this afternoon. The San Jose Fire Department says the pilot took off from the general aviation reed hill view airport in san jose but discovered the air draft had defective landing gear. The pilot went to san jose airport where the runways are much bigger. There was an allout manhunt in berkeley. Police are looking for a man that tried to run over a cop in richmond. This all started with the report of a car being broken into on carlson boulevard. Melanie woodrow picks up the story. Reporter this is where that vehicle was ultimately abandoned, right here after a short chase with Berkeley Police. The vehicle is gone now. Richmond police have processed it. We have some video from sky 7 of what it looked like earlier today. This was just after noon when Berkeley Police say they realized the vehicle had possibly been involved in that richmond officerinvolved shooting from this morning. We also have video from richmond to show you. This was just after 1 00 this morning. Richmond Police Responded to a possible burglary on sutter avenue. When they arrived, the suspect, who they say was breaking into a truck, ran away and was last seen on carlson boulevard. A Richmond Police spokesperson says the suspect then jumped into a mercedes and attempted to ram officers with that vehicle. One of those officers opened fire. Both of the Police Officers are okay. Its not clear whether or not the suspect was hit by those shots. Somebody then reported a suspicious vehicle to Berkeley Police this afternoon. It was parked on addison, between 5th and 6th streets. When officers responded, the suspect drove away. Pursuit ultimately ended in our city, just several blocks from where the initial call came out on dwight way, just west of 4th street. The vehicle was abandoned there and we locked down the scene at that point and notified the Richmond Police department. Reporter and again, this is where all of that ended. Richmond police processed the vehicle. They are now the ones that are handling this entire investigation and the suspect that jumped out of the vehicle here is still on the loose tonight. Live in berkeley, melanie woodrow, abc 7 news. Three more people are facing murder charges in connection with the death of a San Jose Little League coach. The three were arrested last week. Two other suspects were arrested shortly after the february 26th stabbing. Police say the suspects got into an altercation with 35yearold frank navarro. It happened at tres cantina. Were getting our first look at two exconvicts charged in the attempted murder of an offduty Oakland Police officer on the freeway. Police say a 33yearold fired the gun on interstate 880 last week. 37yearold Johnny Robinson was driving the rented suv they were in. The shooting happened Late Wednesday night on 880 near the 16th avenue exit. The officer was not hurt. The suspects have a combined nine prior felony convictions. No word whether the suspects knew they were targeting an offduty officer. Well, sky 7k pictures today of what was the flood zone in san jose. The mayor has taken the blame for failure to alert residents living near coyote creek to evacuate. Now they learned the city may find itself footing much of the bill for the tens of millions in damage. That is coming from the deputy city manager who is accompanying state and federal officials as they tour the damage. David louie is there. Reporter federal and state assessment teams are walking the three neighborhoods that were several feet deep in floodwater two weeks ago today. While 1400 households have filed for help, san joses deputy city manager says that the disaster may not be large enough to trigger federal funding. The city is trying to make a case its worse than it looks. Even a single home can often mean a home and a business, and in neighborhoods like ours, where we are having to have multiple families in a single home because of the high housing prices really helped them understand the impact of a few hundred homes. Reporter it could be a month before a decision is made on federal aid. Apartment building owners say they cant wait with tenants anxious to move back home. A printer problem couldnt be resolved by closing time and she never got her permit. As some residents start to return home, city hall continues to get criticized for issuing a mandatory Evacuation Order too late for people to move their cars or save their possessions. Santa clara county Officials Say by law they couldnt activate their alert scc system until they ordered an evacuation. They have to make the call about evacuation because it really mean they have to get out into the field and make sure that people are evacuating. Reporter the city is holding a public hearing thursdy to review its response and to develop plans to avert future disasters. In san jose, david louie, abc 7 news. Muni service is back to normal after passengers had to be evacuated because of a stalled train. Eric butler tweeted this video as he and other passengers slowly walked through the train tunnel on a narrow walkway back to the van ness station. Around 12 30 the passengers were on a train that stopped moving between the church and van ness stations. Muni set up bus shuttles until they could get it off the tracks and back to the yard for repairs. Delays lasted until 2 00 this afternoon. No word yet on what caused the train trouble. A San Francisco startup accuses Headphone Company bose of crowd funding its tech just to steal it. State assemblyman evan lowe wants 17yearolds to weigh in on the next president of the united states. The campbell lawmaker has introduced an amendment to the california constitution to allow that. The bill would require approval from twothirds of the legislature as well as the approval of california voters, so it could be a long haul here. He says lowering the voting age will help give teenagers a political voice. He says he wrote the bill after the low turnout in 2014. Meantime voters in Sonoma County are deciding the fate of a Marijuana Tax today. Measure a would impose a 10 tax on businesses that grow or sell medicinal or recreational pot in unincorporated areas of the county. Supporters say it could generate 15 million in revenue every year. When traffic on the ground gets to be too much, drones can pick up your car and take you from point a to point b. Once hyperloop is finished, the vehicles could use those as well. Prisoners in the recovery and Reentry Program were in the audience and they certainly liked what they heard. For people to come in from the outside and sacrifice their time and play music for us, i felt like that was a very powerful experience. Another inmate said he was excited to get up this morning because of the concert. He also said its a big change from the music they normally listen to. The most quiet it has been in the jail in a long time. What a great treat, nice gesture by the musicians and the inmates looked like they really enjoyed it.
