Were learning tonight one of the seven people hurt in that driveby shooting in east oakland saturday night has died. 35yearold William Chavez passed away last night at the hospital the shooting happened just before midnight on saturday near 77th and bancroft avenues. The shooter also opened fire on police at the crime scene and no officers were hurt. The shooter or shooters are still out there. Were also learning a lot more tonight about the man shot and killed by an awardwinning filmmaker kevin epps who was released from San Francisco county jail after he was arrested monday for murder. Marcus polk had an estranged relationship with kevin epps, the man who shot and killed him, this profile from one of his closest friends. Had some hard times going in and out of jail. He had a good heart and good spirit, but, you know, the drugs started taking control right before he passed away. He started to get on crystal meth pretty tough. He started smoking it. The had a stay away order because they got unruly and stuff like that. They had to go. Reporter and then polk was jailed again for parole violation. He was released last week. And since then he didnt have a place to stay and so hes essentially on the streets or going from place to place. Reporter is bill surprised he was killed . He was flirting with danger. Police tell us the two arrested are not suspects in that school shooting, so they are still looking for two more suspects. The gangrelated shooting last tuesday wounded four students, as we report, including a 15yearold girl. San mateo police are looking for a man and a woman pictured here in the sketches who robbed a store at the hillsdale mall saturday evening. Both suspects forced an employee into the back room of a store at knifepoint. They didnt say which store. They demanded access to the safe, but when the employee told them there was no safe both ran off without taking anything. A witness says the suspects were i their 630s. Deputies tonight in carpalias county have seized more than three tons of pot. The 7,700 pounds is estimated to be worth almost 8 million. Tonight the San Jose Planning Commission should decide whether to accept or reject the appeal. The least they can do is not just consider their constituents and not just consider the buses on their land but also consider how its impacting the whole area. According to the Planning Department the study concluded that most of the odor at newby island actually comes from the parks recycling and green waste facility as opposed to the landfill.
