Shattered glass marks where richmond investigators say an offduty walnut creek officer attacked a female driver with a bat. News that officer Gregory Thompson was arrested is a shock to this man. It surprised me by him, especially laying a hand on a woman. He said thompsons parents used to live in this house next door, and hes been clearing it out to get it ready for sale. The neighbor heard the commotion that night and says Richmond Police arrived fast. Just moments later the woman ran up the street yelling that he had attack and chased her and the other woman. Richmond police never found a second victim, but they did find thompson in his car. A witness described a male with a mask and a baseball bat walking to that vehicle and they later discovered the mask on the floorboard of the vehicle and the bat in the trunk of the car. Now she and her child are keeping the tradition going with their two small children. Its the perfect family place. Their visit in february was the perfect family trip, that is until the problem at the end. We come to check out, and the valet couldnt find our keys. The valet had parked the car the night before. Now nobody could find the keys and the couple didnt have a spare. Really we didnt feel a sense of urgency right away. We were kind of like, okay, no problem, easy going. We like being here. Hours later still no key. The family missed their breakfast reservation at the famous owani hotel. As the morning went along, we realized how are we going to go home . The kids grew restless. Clothes and toys were locked in the car. My twoyearold is rambunctious and she was stircrazy and i have a fiveyearold. Finally there was a plan. They would get the spare key from their home in newark and fed ex it to the hotel. It would take 7 hours. Family checked back into the room and waited. We would take walks, count the stairs as we went up the stairs. Darkness fell, the key arrived, they drove swiftly home. The hotel promising to reimburse the cost of a new key, which is not simple. Its a digital device costing nearly 500. Amanda sent the invoices to the hotel but never got reimbursed. A month later an assistant manager promised the money was on the way. It wasnt. Thats when i contacted you guys. We contacted the lodge and the none manager responded right away. He not only reimbursed the cost of the key, but also refunded their hotel stay and offered another twonight stay for free. The spokesperson said the manager handling their case had left her job before providing the refund, telling us we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience to the family. Wish we had been made aware of the lapse in any communication sooner and hope this they will return as our guests to continue a wonderful Family Tradition enjoying yosemite. New this morning the worst drought in a generation has pushed state lawmakers to overhaul the states longstanding pump as you please ground water policy. Under a groundbreaking package of bills sent to Governor Brown, the state would again regulating its ground water supply for the first time. Ground water has accounted for 60 of the states water use during the drought, yet it is not as regulated and closely managed as water from reservoirs, rivers and streams. Officials say the pumping has been so great in recent years that wells are running dry. Lawmakers are sending Governor Brown a bill that would make california the first to impose a statewide ban on singleuse plastic bags. It would prohibit single use plastic bags at Grocery Stores and large pharmacies in 2015 and Convenience Stores in 2016. Includes 2 million in loans to help manufacturers shift to producing Reusable Bags and lets grocers charge ten cents each for paper and Reusable Bags. Governor brown has filed an appeal of a court ruling that struck down tenure and other job protections for the states teachers. Californias schools chief fought the appeal. He was among those named in a lawsuit brought by nine students that argued that californias hiring and firing rules saddled schools with bad teachers who effective could not be fired.
