Investigators say they are trying to determine why the bus was sitting on the tracks just several moments before it was hit by a freight train. Four people were killed, 30 injured and investigators say theyre also looking at another accident at the same crossing two months ago and whether theres an issue with that particular crossing or if this is simply coincidence. The bus was taking passengers on a tour of casinos. The ntsb plans to have another update this afternoon. New details in sundays fast moving fire in vallejo that destroyed 16 units of the travel inn. Investigators now say the fire started in a downstairs unit. Theyre still trying to determine the exact cause. Flames quickly spread, though, from the unit to one above it where several gallons of gasoline were stored on a balcony. Officials say the firefighters who battled the flames participated in a training drill at the travel inn just weeks before this happened. Today, teams will continue going door to door in three san jose neighborhoods that were flooded two weeks ago. San jose is now hearing the damage to private homes from the coyote creek flood isnt enough to meet femas requirements for reimbursement. Federal money will cover only public buildings that were damaged and street cleanup. The city may have to use its own general funds to help victims and restore infrastructure. The Mayors Relief Fund has raised 6 million so far. Damage is estimated at 73 million. It would raise 6 billion by increasing the gas tax by up to 12 cents a gallon over the next three years. The vehicle Registration Fee would go up by 38 and own ores of zero emissions dollars would pay an annual 100 fee. The legislation is set to go before the governance and finance committee today. It heads to the state legislature in two weeks. Also happening today, San Franciscos Garbage Company wants to raise rates and you can tell city think about that. At least four people were killed there and several injured after big wild fires in the area and Officials Say three of those people that were killed were ranchers who were trying to save their cattle. For the first time, we have hearing from the husband of a south bay woman that was severely burned during a plane crash last week. The crash killed her mother and stepfather and left her friend badly injured. The plane was bound for san jose and crashed sortly after takeoff in riverside in bad wetd. Her husband is relying on faith to get through this tragedy. All day, i told my wife, please take a commercial flight home and she said, no, well be fine. Im terrified that she wont make it. But im putting all my faith in god and i think shes going to i believe shes going to pull through. Well, she has severe burns on her back, and doctors had to amputate her legs. She has not been told her mom and stepfather didnt make it. The cause of the crash is still under investigation. What they must be going through right now. All right. Going to move on now to the recent rain that has saturated the Santa Cruz Mountains. Neighbors there have had to cope with landslides and flooding. Even a horse was not immune to the hazards. It got stuck on a muddy trail. Katie marzullo tells us all about this rescue. Reporter these photos paint a scary picture in the Santa Cruz Mountains. A horse laid out on her side, stuck in what can best be described as quick sand. Shes laying in water. Holding her head up with the bridle, i guess. Kind of the horse is exhausted from battling for about an hour, hour and 20 minutes to get out of the water. Reporter cal fire battalion chief got the call around 2 30 in the afternoon. You dont know what an animals thinking when youre trying to help them. Theyre looking for a way out and you could get a hoof in the stomach or take a blow to the face. Reporter he quickly came up with a plan. We noticed the water was draining in towards the horse from the creek and we diverted the water flow from the draining in towards the horse away from the horse. Reporter when the water receded, the soil firmed up and the 6yearold horse was able to get her footing and stand. The horse and rider were able to get up and walk out on their home. The chief feared hypothermia yeah but other than that, the horse appeared unharmed. Monet was the horses name, kind of put a smile on my face. Reporter be extra careful on saturated roads and trails. They had to evacuate their train and walk through the tunnel between the church and van ness streets yesterday afternoon. Passenger eric butler took this video. The train stalled on the tracks. It took crews about a half hour to get that stuck train out of the tunnel. No word yet on what caused that train to stall. Australian maritime crews rescued two sailors from a disabl disabled yacht this morning. Black and white video is from an infrared camera showing a Communications Package being dropped from the back of a plane. Well, a police boat plucked the two sailors of a yacht and brought them into shore near t sydney. Testing is set to begin on the hyperloop rail system. This is the first scale track in the nevada desert. The hyperloop should be able to ship cargo a distance that would be equal from novato to san jose in just 12 minutes. It could one day carry passengers. Heres something that could one day travel on hyperloop. Its called the popup system. Air bus and natal designs are teaming up to create a selfdriving car that can also fly. When traffic on the ground gets to be too much, drones lift up your car and take you from point a to point b.
