New this morning while you were sleeping the Oakland City Council approved plans to build a controversy hightech surveillance center. The Council Approved the Domain Awareness Center overnight. The vote was initially tied, but the mayor broke the tie with a yes vote. 10 Million Center will be funded by Homeland Security and consolidate the citys existing camera and Mapping Systems under one roof. Opponents are concerned it will be used for warrantless surveillance on the public. The family are the patient who disappeared later found dead at San Francisco General Hospital is suing the city. 57yearold Lynn Spaulding vanished from the hospital in september of last year. He bo her body found two weeks later in a stairwell there. Theyre faulting disappearance and the death on the hospital andsheriffs department. Theyre holding a News Conference to discuss their claim. The Probation Department was already in the process of moving in which School Administrators and parents recently found out. There hasnt been any response in terms of a Community Group meeting. No responses, and we just want some answers first, and we want some kind of security. Reporter by phone an alameda spokesperson says the project has been in the works a couple of years and by next year, the Probation Department will move in to this building which is right across the street from Lincoln Elementary school.
