Airlines have been in the spotlight for bumping passengers off of overbooked flights. New data shows that its actually not happening that often. Michael finney has the new details. Us bumping people. We would never do such a thing. The number of passengers bumped off fliegs have plummeted. The department of transportation says airlines are bumping passengers at the lowest rate since recordkeeping began back in 1995. A big drop happened after the incident this april when a 69yearold passenger was forcibly removed from an overbooked flight. He suffered bloody cuts and broken teeth. You have seen the pictures a bunch of times. Others captured the incident with cell phone. Video went viral causing a wide spread out rage and inspired friendlier Airline Policies for denied boarding. Only 52 passengers per one million were bumped from u. S. Flights in the first half of this year. Since the april incident, just 44 per million were denied boarding. United reported a more dramatic decline. In may just 61 passengers were bumped. If you lose your debit card its terrifying enough. Chase base is tightening the process. Chase will no longer let customers walk into a branch to instantly obtain a new card. The easy fix was allowing too much fraud. The bank says scammers were using fake ids to pose as customers, obtain new credit cards, new cards and drain the Customers Bank accounts. Under the new system chase will generate a new card and mail it to the customers address on file. You may stop one scam but another is always rearing up. The federal trade Commission Says watch out for imposters claiming you won a government grant. The ftc says the scammers are pretending to call from the National Institute of health. They were slelected to receive 14,000 grant. They tell victims the pay with itunes gift cards, green dot cards or give their bank account numbers. If you get such a call just hang up. Sgr but he seemed so nice on the phone. They trick people. Next, somebodys going to miss this. An east bay man wants to return a Baseball Card collection found scattered along the bay area highway. Dan is here with a look at whats coming up at 5 00. The suspected thief captured on surveillance and the lifetime of memories that were stolen. One bay area woman hopes you can help find this guy. A big rig and a pick up collides. The mess is still being cleaned up. The lake problem no one wants but too many people are running into. Well have that story and screen time in the summer. Getting your kids to cut down and get outside. Remember when playing out doors was a an east bay man found thousands of Baseball Cards littered along a highway. It was collecting the thousands of Baseball Cards he found along the highway that turned into a big chore. It became like an easter egg hunt. You go from bush to bush and i realize how far up the hillside they went. Reporter theeds are the pictu these are the pictures he took. They are all in these neat collectible sleeves. I dont know what to call them. Reporter it took him nearly 2 hours to pick up some 2,000 cards. About quarter mile. Reporter the cards are mostly from the early 1990s. Some loose. Others in plastic sleeves. His wife and son helped clean the road grime off the collection. I was thinking gross. Its dirty. Its all over my kitchen. It was neat to be able to look through them. Reporter randy isnt much into Baseball Card himself. At this point he just wants to do the right thing and return all of this to its rightful owner. You realize theres probably much more of a personal value than financial. Somebodys going to miss this. They spent a lot of time putting it together so they would want them back.
