Reporter as oakland Fire Fighters arrived, those coworkers also sprung into action, putting up a ladder and putting down pieces of plywood on the now still wet cement which was nearly impossible to move through. Its kind of like quick sand. Reporter oakland fire says 15 to 20 construction workers initially were trapped. Everyone got out. It was a very great rescue between us and them. Reporter First Responders transported 12 construction workers to area hospitals for minor injuries. The general contractor on the project is Johnston Moyer construction. The subcontractor is largo concrete, incorporated. Cal osha is now investigating, talking to workers and reviewing safety procedures. Was this a situation in which this could have been prevented . Reporter cal osha says it has inspected both Johnston Moyer and largo 11 times over the last five years. It issued johnston lawyers with low penalties over four of those inspections. Whereas four of largos inspections were accident related. Three resulted in violations for Workplace Safety hazards, including one serious violation for failing to guard reinforced steel which could have resulted in a worker being impaled. One of the mans coworkers carlos bell tran, took these shots moments after the accident. You can also see workers hanging from the scaffolding. Alan wong, a Pediatric Oncologist had a special patient named j. W. K napp in. They forged a unique bond. I would say i love him. We are good friends. Before he died, we were so tight. Reporter j. W. Died of leukemia just before his 17th birthday. In his short life, j. W. Wanted to build a home for families in situations similar to his. The Teenager Fund raised the initial 10,000 and gave the money to dr. Wong, asking the doctor for help to make this home a reality. Suddenly i became a fundraiser, too. And then i became a businessman, too. Reporter when j. W. Died in 2005, dr. Wong and others continued to fund raise and eventually went through with plans, opening the doors in 2008. They loved each other very dearly. This love that they shared through this dream that gave j. W. Hope, gave his family hope, and now certainly has given thousands of people hope. Reporter dr. Wong is here every saturday. I learned how to do laundry in j. W. House. Hes so humble in the way that he gives back. He doesnt have to volunteer. Ael now, yesterday we showed you a dramatic fire in milpitas. You can see it right back here. Sky 7 was over this herd of goats and they were trapped by this wildfire. They had nowhere to go. Amazingly, though, they all managed to survive, although some were hurt. San jose Animal Services is asking for hurt. Abc7 News Reporter david louie has todays update. This pin at san jose Animal Services has ten of the 15 rescued goats, all of them babies. Their injuries include first, second and third degree burns. Perhaps the best indication of what theyve suffered is how quiet they are. They do have emotions so im sure they are traumatized. Like i say, normally you would hear baa or something, but theyre very, very quiet. I mean theyve lost their home, they had to run for their lives yesterday. And, you know, many are in pain. Reporter being herd animals, you can see they are sticking closely together. When they are walking some of them are hobbling indicating they do have injuries to their hooves. Veterinarian is treating hooves with ointment. They were surrendered by the milpitas property owner. He kept five goats that did not appear to be injured. Animal Services Plans to put 15 goats up for adoption after they have recuperated. Sky 7 showed us it is remarkable they all survived the fire. Some of them i think are going to make a decently good recovery. I think some of them, im more on the fence of right now. Im not sure how theyre going to do. Like i said, we do have a goat currently right now on iv so it is in the back still. Reporter this goat is in Critical Condition. The goats require round the clock vet care. Animal services will have to send them to an emergency clinic on weekends when it doesnt have a vet working. That is going to cost an estimated 3,000. We have busy highway 4 behind us. We have a major intersection and a plane crashing in the middle of it, you see it back there right on the corner at 2 45 this afternoon. Thats when this small single engine glass star plane went down. Lets take a look at a view from sky 7 of the wreckage. The plane was taking off from buchanan field when the pilot reported a mechanical problem. The plane turned around to come back, but missed the runway just a few hundred feet away really from the air field. The plane crashed into a stop light at this intersection sheering off one of the wings. Witnesses at an adjacent car dealership told abc7 news they saw no smoke from the plane as it came down. It did not catch fire. The pilot was the only one on board and was pulled out of the plane by a
