Reporter the most wanted man in the world, captured this afternoon in belgium. Extremely significant from an intelligence standpoint. Reporter Salah Abdeslam, wounded but in the custody of belgian authorities after a raid in the neighborhood in brussels, the arrest culminating a fourmonth man hunt who Authorities Say are responsible for the terrorist attacks which killed 130 people. United states intelligence officials had been working closely with french and Belgian National Security Officials since november. Reporter abc news learned that Salah Abdeslam was tracked to this neighborhood earlier this week after fingerprints were discovered in an apartment. Authorities say he was able to escape. Hes probably been in that community for a number of weeks or months, and its taken the authorities this long to figure out exactly which location. Reporter the takedown, finally, as a barrage of bullets were fired during the raid. The capture, a victory against isis, and a strong message to those who commit acts of terror. This capture sends a message to basically all extremist groups that the Law Enforcement and Intelligence Community will continue to look for you until they find you. Reporter the french president says his thoughts are with the victims of the paris attacks and says it isnt over. More arrests will be made as the investigation continues. Larry mundy, abc news, new york. A standoff with deputies has ended with the Fatal Shooting of a man. This standoff began yesterday in byron, in contra costa county. Cornell bernard is live with the details. Reporter this News Conference ended just a few minutes ago. A 49yearold man was shot and killed after a 12hour standoff, when Officials Say he bolted from the house and pointed a gun at deputies. Sky 7 hd was over the home where deputies went to serve an arrest warrant on thursday night on the man for 12 counts of child molestation involving a 13yearold foster child living in the home. The man was armed when he answered the door. He ran into the house, barricaded himself for hours. There was negotiations with police, but no luck. This morning, chemical agents were fired into the house to force him out. He exited a window of the residence, carrying a firearm. At which time he raised the firearm in the direction of our deputy sheriffs and the deputies, in fear of their life, fired and ultimately struck the subject. Reporter the sheriff officials showed us a picture of the hand gun used by the suspect during the standoff. S. W. A. T. Team members safely evacuated family members inside the home. The driver arrested for an accident that left a 6yearold boy injured was in court this afternoon. Daniel morris was charged with 12 counts. The chp says morris was riding a stolen ford fusion when he hit a boy walking to school on march 7. The child had to have his left leg amputated. B. A. R. T.
