A stand justify with a wanted parolee ended after he wounded four Police Officers and a federal agent. 32yearold samuel duran surrendered shortly after midnight after a ninehour standoff. He was booked in the county jail this morning. An immigration and Customs Enforcement agency tried arresting him for a parole violation. He shot the agent in the leg and ran. Four other roseville verse were injured. All but one has been treated and released from the hospital. Police say he barricaded himself inside a home and began shooting at officers. The suspect shot through the side of the resident and through the open window at the officers. Thats the way the officers received the injuries they received. The suspects mother tells a different story. She says the i. C. E. Agent that confronted duran confronted him first. I just want to know where my baby is at. Duran was checked out at a local hospital before being taken to jail. A nightclub employee in campbell is recovering from a gunshot wound following a shooting this morning. It happened just before 2 00 at the nightclub on orchard city drive. Security guards confronted a group in the parking lot and asked them to turn down their music. At some point, the employee was shot. He is expected to recover. The group got away in two different vehicles. A dark late 90s chevy camaro. Thousands of First Responders are taking part in a very realistic Training Exercise in the bay area called urban shield. Part of their training involves a mock shooter on a School Campus scenario. One is happening here at the muni rail yard in stprafpblt it involves a mock terror plot on board a train. Really the most talked about scenario is across the bay, the recreation of the School Shooting. Terrified students run from this Elementary School after a gunman fires shots on campus. What youre watching is not real. Its only a drill. But the realistic situation is being created here, a vital exercise for First Responders. We try to purposely to make it chaotic and a mess so when and if and hopefully not this ever happens, teams will be ready. This Training Session one of many across the bay area part of urban shield, the largest reallife drill for police and fire in the country. Sadly, this scenario comes just days after a School Shooting in sparks, nevada, which left one teacher and a student shooter dead. This is one of those things if your organization is practicing on and youre not ready to con front it, you will find yourself in a bad situation some day. Frightening moments this afternoon on San Franciscos knob hill when a car careened out of control and hit a building. It happened on washington street near leavenworth at 1 00. A brandnew black mercedesbenz ended up on the sidewalk against an apartment building. Police believe the driver was trying to back into a parking spot when she lost control. They arent available to figure out how it happened because she grabbed her groceries and ran away before Emergency Personnel arrived on scene. New accusations today by the the family of a woman found dead in the San Francisco General Hospital stairwell. Their lawyer said 57yearold lynn spaldings family made four requests to search the sf general campus for the missing patient after she disappeared. The Attorney Says those requests were ignored and that deputies did not conduct a thorough search. A sheriffs spokesperson declined to comment on the accusation. Her body was found october 8th. A memorial was held this morning for the construction worker who was killed last week at the niners new stadium. He died when a bundle of Steel Construction rebar fell on him two mondays ago. The rebar was being used to reinforce concrete at the stadium construction site. This morning the Construction Firm coordinating the project held a memorial in his hometown. This is abc 7 news. Parking in downtown walnut creek could soon cost double what it does right now. A media partner a proposed plan would increase downtown meters from 1 to 2 an hour. Rates would go up from 50 cents to 1 an hour in garages. The city is also considering charging for parking on sundays and extending meters by two hours. The council is set to take up the issue in december. A part of Southern California with a stinky problem on its hands is getting help in the form of hightech stink sensors. Residents have come to accept the rotten egg smell that comes from the weather. But when wind conditions and sea waters create the perfect storm, it gets really meeting. Smog regulators have approved a sulfide Monitoring System to monitor the presence of Hydrogen Sulfide and would notify officials when levels get too high.
