Right now theres a packed house in the east bay as one City Council Meets late into the night to decide whether to call on congress to launch an investigation that could shake up the nations capitol. Reporter within the last half hour city council picked up the issue with more than 20 people wanting to talk, and supporters realize it is largely a symbolic effort, but it is a message City Councils can send. It is a message that appears to be spreading across the country as supporters listed a handful of other cities considering similar resolutions. Al immediate ah for impeachment members rallied on the steps of alameda city hall, then waited for hours to Tell City Council members why they think the president should face impeachment hearings. I think he is a threat to our constitution. I think he is a threat to our country. I think hes a threat to the peace of the world. Reporter theyre also concerned about the president s potential conflict of interests from his business dealings and possible ties to russia. Vice mayor malia vella, essentially the city would be sending a message to congressional leaders. Tonights effort follows a similar effort passed in the city of richmond two weeks ago. Understandably it is a local measure, but with a republican congress, republican senate, i think we need to get this movement from the ground up. I didnt realize it was as violent as it was until i looked at the videos. Reporter the couple still has a hard time watching what happened that day when age, race, gender and political views collided. Shes been traumatized, and thats what i was more concerned about. Reporter but what is even more troubling for this richmond couple is that no one has been arrested for their beating. And this is one of the guys that was involved. The District Attorney didnt charge anyone today, saying, quote, we need to have all of the evidence from bpd, and once we do we will review everything before making a charging decision.
