Im dan ashley. Im ama daetz. This happened this afternoon in san jose. Dan the person with the the pellet gun opened fire near santa teresa boulevard. Ama thats where we find katie who is live tonight. Katie . Reporter dan and ama, police say the first spots fired from a bb or pellet gun were reported here. The man was hit as he left the vets office. Them Police Arrive and they were fired at as well. They quickly looked for the shooter across the street. The vet tech was outside at 2 30 in the afternoon when they suddenly became targets. The man was holding his dog and out of no where it was poof. They quickly took cover inside only to learn the pellets were still flying and others were being hit. Thats when they called police and when officers arrived we have incoming pellets. They are still shooting at us over here. We will see if we can find them. Reporter one officer was hit and no one was hurt. Police focused their search for the shooter at an apartment complex across the street. Great group, great people, great neighborhood. I dont really suspect anything mal intent. Just kids causing trouble. Reporter police did not find the shooter. A disturbing crime with an unknown motive. I am not sure what would motivate somebody to do that. Just a cowardly person. Dan new tonight, a man accused of sexually assaulting a 13 yearly girl is in the Contra Costa County jail. They arrested bernard cane. He attacked a man who was walking to school. The girl was able to get away and run to the school. Cane also tried to lure a girl into his car. That girl made it home uninjured. Ama new at 11 00, they are responding to a request for more cold case investigations. The interim chief tony chaplain announced a former homicide inspector was coming back to focus on cold cases. There are plans to bring other earns experienced veterans back to the force as well. We are staying on top of the search for two men who attacked an 88yearold woman in her home. Twice. Flo douglas remains in Critical Condition with injuries to her face and head. The man broke into her home on monday night and beat her and took her jewelry and car. They say the men then returned later and beat her again. Dan a congregation on the peninsula is a bit shaken after somebody stole thousands in church donations. Abc7 news was at the Corner Stone Community Church where this theft happened on sunday even as parishioners were in their pews. The pastor said a man who lingered after the service took the donation plate when no one was looking and took off running. We were just startled. This is supposed to be a safe place of worship and a safe place for family. Dan the church estimates they took between 8,000 and 10,000. Money that would go to maintain the church and help feed the homeless. Activists will descend on a store tomorrow to protest the arrest of a man who is trying to get people registered to vote. Thisy arrested him as he refused to leave. The target easy says shoppers were complaining about people being aggressive while trying to get signatures. We had six super in10 dents in eight yarys. Reporter the current superintendents job is on the line. The focus needs to be our kids, raising them up and making them the best district in the area. Reporter the school board had an intent to terminate following a nearly threemonth investigation. In this notice they say he has an explosive temper, engages in extreme acts of dishonesty and failed to keep the board informed.
