In the california delegation there were tears, cheers and certainly some disappointment. We need leadership which brings our people together. At least 19 people died and 25 were injured when a former employee of a facility for disabled people went on a stabbing rampage. It happened in a city located west of tokyo. The fire destroyed 20 homes. It has grown to more than 16,000 acres and 25 square miles. Evacuation orders are still in place for the community of Palo Colorado and homes along several roads nearby. Thats being exacerbated because we have smoke from the wildfire thats coming up. Thats putting a lot of particulate matter in the air. It is not a day to start training for a marathon. Sensitive groups need to be especially careful in conditions like these. The very young and the old and people with lung disease we have advising them to limit their Time Outdoors or if they are outdoors they will not be doing strenuous activity. Reporter dan, the warning signs are out. They say sharks sighted in the last 48 hours, and it was sunday morning to be exact near where many people were surfing. The video captured the shark doing what it is supposed to do, feeding on a seal in the natural habitat. The fact that it happened so close to dozens of surfers out enjoying the waves at in pacifica, made for a frightening experience. All of the water i could see turned red. Reporter stephanie was surfing with her family during the close encounter. Like everyone else they hurried back to shore. I turned to my daughter right next to me and i told her to paddle in as fast as she could and get a wave as fast as she could. Reporter stephanies husband, russ, shot this video moments after everyone got out of the water. He said at no point was he concerned for himself or his family. The shark was doing his thing. At that point you know where it is. It has a prey and it is going after it. This was pacificas third shark citing and advised public to stay alert. The fire danger will be increasing in the inland areas. The blues indicating moderate fire and yellows indicating high. And you will notice toward the delta we are looking at moderate to high fire danger. Antioch and rio vista and the fair field area. Be extra vigilant tomorrow. The temperatures are in the 50s at the beaches and the 70s inland. We are definitely dealing with the summertime pattern. The fog is real low. The air quality will continue to remain poor, unhealthful and thats why we have a spare the air tomorrow. It is moderate for the rest of the bay area.
