Half moon bay, a comfortable 66 degrees today, thanks to the sea breeze. Were going to turn up the heat tomorrow. And youre going to see toasty temperatures around here. Thank you. Triple digit heat led to problems around the bay area. Tiffany wilson is live at the Alameda County fair where dozens were treated for heat exhaustion. Reporter five of those had to be taken to the hospital earlier today. Right now, its very comfortable. The Alameda County Fire Department gave more than 1,500 of the hand fans helping people to stay cool. But many people said it was tough. It should be illegal to keep this hot. Reporter not even a cooler of water could keep her family cool. We were beyond sweaty. Reporter the weather wasnt just uncomfortable, it affected their health. Some walked up to the first aid tent. Others needed assistance. Weve had five patients who were transported to local hospitals. The symptoms that i notice are headache, feeling lightheaded. Feeling like youre going to pass out. Nauseated. Reporter many families in morgan hill had no way to escape the heat, after a power outage eliminated air conditioning and electricity. We were watching the giants game. And we heard this really loud explosion. Reporter thats when this grate shot up out of the sidewalk. My moms car was parked right there. And debris flew up to the hood of the car. We had to move the car out of the way. Reporter it took pg e four hours to restore service. It got hot so quickly. Reporter at my pizza, employees felt like they were baking in the oven. It was about 95 in here. Reporter tomorrow is supposed to be hotter. The fair is closed. But Alameda County firefighters say, if youre outside, wear sunscreen and seek shade. At the Alameda County fair. Keep track of the temperatures in your neighborhood using the abc 7 weather app. Thousands of people lined up to see the 44th gay pride parade in San Francisco today. More than 100,000 people showed up on the route, between market and field civic center. And proud and prominent were big corporations. Tim cook greeted 4,000 of his employees. Facebook had a large contingent there as did bank of america. Once the parade wrapped up, the problems began. We go live to San Francisco with that part of the story. Reporter this is the 44th celebration of gay pride in San Francisco. And unfortunately, the celebrations ended in gunfire. Witnesses describe a rush of people running for cover as a series of shots were fired. I heard gunshots so loud, the people running and hiding in the corner, thats it. Just tried to get away from it. Reporter you heard the shots . Yes. Reporter how many . About seven consecutive shots. Reporter according to police, one woman was shot outside the warfield theater. They have arrested one person. But we saw three people in custody. We watched as Police Located a number of bullet holes on the side of one building. And police questioned a witness. The white car belongs to darius king. Who is in the car . A friend of mine. Hes part of the show. Reporter this shooting happened as thousands left the annual gay pride celebration at civic center. People packed into the area for a massive party. The shooting is a violent end to an otherwise festive day. I guess people arent on the same page of what the event is supposed to be or stand for. Reporter there was a separate shooting incident reported around the same time frame up at golden gate and hyde. Police say there was an arrest in that second incident. Reporting live in San Francisco. A Mountain View woman is under arrest after police say she assaulted one caltrain employee. Look at this scene at the san antonio stop in Mountain View. The confrontation started on the train and moved to the platform. San mateo Sheriff Deputies say conductors were trying to get a woman who appeared drunk off the train around 9 30 last night. The woman is hitting conductors with what appears to be a backpack or something. The male conductor pushes her and she falls on to the sidewalk. The suspect was arrested for felony assault. San mateo county Sheriffs Office tweeted, asking anyone with information come forward. A woman replied with a link to this video. Police are looking for a gunman involved in a shooting that injured seven people in antioch. It happened just before midnight on cedar point way. Police found five injured men on the scene. All seven victims are expected to survive. Newark city leaders will meet this week to consider taking steps to force a motel to close. The easy 8 motel is a magnet for crime. There were 760 arrest theres from 2009 to 2012. This is video from 2012 when a teenage girl was found dead in the parking lot. The motels owners say its safe. Celebrations are set for tomorrow to mark an important milestone at Yosemite National park. It will mark the first step of a project that will make the maricopa grove make it was in 1864. Thieves are entering through opened windows, garages and unlocked doors. Business is booming for security companies. No longer the homeowners just want alarm systems. They want more sophisticated setups to protect their homes and their families. Vic lee has the story. Reporter theres a huge demand for mounted digital cameras. This one shows two burglars trying to break into a home. The clarity is amazing. Heres another Security Camera video. Listen carefully oop it had audio. You can hear the dog barking. Watch the burglars go through the empty home. Heres a camera mounted outside a house. A car carrying two burglars pulls up to the driveway. They break into the home. The burglars make several trips, loading the car with the stolen merchandise. All of it captured on video. A blessing for police. The biggest change for us has been the addition of video sur r va lens in homes. The best seller is a program called verified response. A program that alerts police. The camera detects motion in the home. That triggers the recording. The images are sent in realtime to the companys monitoring station, where workers look for anything suspicious. If there is, they call police. They seem to come out faster. And hopefully they catch the person. That depends on how quickly officers get there. Chances are most burglars get away before police can respond. Theres a company thats trying to fill that gap. They have cameras at homes and businesses. The images are monitored 24 7. If theres unusual movement, the computer sends out a red flag. In this case, the breakin of a Downtown Office building. When we see something suspicious, we dispatch the private Security Police force, thats driving around in the area. Reporter its armed private patrols are checking on the properties. When theyre dispatched to check out a location, the company says their Response Time is no more than five minutes, enough time to capture the burglar. We get them before they come in, inside or coming out with the property. Reporter earlier this month, one of the biggest serial bicycle thieves in San Francisco, was caught by patrol officers. Cameras inside a garage captured his image. He had just stolen two bicycles, which you can see in the corner of this video. Hes trying to open the gate. But the monitors are watching every step in the control room. They dispatch a patrol car. The guards make a citizens arrest and call police. For law enforcement, these advances in private Security Systems have become an extra pair of eyes. And hard evidence in court. Arresting the individual contemporaneously to the event.
