And military experts, the United States government will not accept or allow transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the u. S. Military. Our military must be focussed on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs. In the military would entail, thank you. Transgender Service Members have been able to serve openly in the military since last year. When defense secretary ash carter ended the ban. There are between 2500 and 7,000 transgender Service Members on active duty and anywhere from 1500 to 4,000 in the reserves according to iran corporation study. And that same study determined allowing transgender people to serve openly would have only minimal impact on readiness and health care costs. Todays announcement seemed to come to a surprise to even the pentagon which is deferring all questions to the white house. California congresswoman and House Democratic leader nancy pelosi slammed the president in a Statement Released just a short time ago. Calling the ban a, quote, vile and hateful agenda. And also went on to say, quote, it is a cruel and arbitrary decision designed to humiliate Transgender Americans who stepped forward to serve our country. Meanwhile, senator harris echoed that sentiment and said the president s decision to force transgender individuals out of the military is discriminatory, wrong, and unamerican. We found outrage on the streets of San Francisco this morning when we asked people what they thought of President Trumps recent tweets. I mean, they definitely should be allowed to serve. I think that if you are an american citizen and you want to fight for your country, go ahead and do that and have that right. I think he needs to just focus more on other issues. I think its very casual way to announce something to disrespectful and deep to a lot of people in this city, especiallily. New this morning, the latest suspect arrested for the deadly beating of a san jose woman is giving a jailhouse interview to abc 7 news. Flo douglas was punched and kicked inside her san jose home last september. She died from her injuries. He told me he did not kill miss flo. 19yearold johnny brown was passionate when he said he was innocent while speaking to us behind the plexy glass at the Santa Clara County jail. I did not get questioned. I did not get interviewed. Talked to at all. They just arrested me and charged me with these charges without any evidence. They have no evidence that i was there that night. That i did that. I dont know why theyre charging me with the murder of that lady, you know . Reporter brown was arrested yesterday at a gas station for the murder of 88yearold flo douglas, affectionately known in her community as miss flo. Faces burglary, robbery, and elder abuse charges. Last year, brown and zachary broke into miss flos san jose home and beat her. She died from her injuries in october. He was arrested just days after the robbery. These two women were later arrested and accused of trying to cover up the crime. Brown says he knew who ewen was and used to date the other, but was home the night of the robbery. Whoever did do it, they need to speak up. Speak up and speak up and say what they did because i was not there that night. And this is very sad that im being arrested for something i did not do. The driver has now been formerly charged, 18yearold sanchez faces manslaughter and dui for the deadly crash last week. Shes said to make her First Court Appearance later today. Sanchezs sister jacqueline was in the back seat of that car. She died after she got ejected from it. Another teen survived the crash.
