In kankakee, illinois, this bus sliding right off the road. In parts of colorado, pileup after pileup. 27 states are coping with brutal, dangerous windchills tonight. In chicago, the Public Schools 400,000 students told to stay home today and tomorrow. Across minnesota, schools closed due to plunging temperatures. Snowcovered minneapolis feels like 26 below zero. Or places like houston just have sand to put on some of the icy places. For a moment, ginger, look ahead to the super bowl. Are you still predicting temperatures in the 30s . Yes. It looks like the moderating trend gets on by the end of the week. Were fortunate were not having the super bowl tomorrow or wednesday. All right. Reporter passenger arnee dodd is just 1 of the more than 600 people on the Royal Caribbean explorer of the seas, whove become violently ill. Everybody was so nervous they were either staying to their state rooms or a public place that wasnt too crowded. Reporter Officials Say this is likely a case of the highly contagious norovirus, which probably came onboard with a sick person or in contaminated food. If it arrived in, say, contaminated seafood, not only would everyone who ate the fish likely get sick, but the virus could spread to those who handled the fish and to anyone who touched the ice it was served on. Norovirus survives on surfaces and on hands. So, once it leaves the dining room, it can spread exponentially throughout the ship. The crew, sporting hawaiian shirts and sanitation masks, is scrubbing and disinfecting the ship from top to bottom. Why is the norovirus so difficult to contain . It is able to survive in the environment for days, for weeks, sometimes for months. Reporter cdc inspectors are onboard. The study, tonight, revealing that 7,391 children rushed to the hospital every year with those gun injuries. So often, accidents in the home. 453 of those children die at the hospital. Youve seen it often when its an accident inside the home. Yes, i have. And its devastating. Reporter dr. Robert glatter of lennox hill hospital of new york, has spent many years in the e. R. Among the pairs of children, william and griffin there, in their case, ten minutes after this. Dont mess with it. Reporter there is this. One child looking down the barrel of the gun. I cant see. I told you. Reporter his friend, about to do the same. Im just seeing reporter both of them, already having looked down the barrel by the time they call an adult. Help . Help . Help . Help . Help . Anyone . We found a gun. Two guns. I mean, three. Two guns. Reporter from a control room, the professor and the police watching. Its a natural thing to look down the barrel. Reporter and the parents who agreed to it all were watching it, too. Oh, my god. Reporter that was just the beginning of the experiment. Friday night, youll hear from the parents. The children watch the video with them. And, diane, you begin the conversation friday night about whether or not parents out there ever really ask the neighbors or their friends parents if theres a gun in the home, whether its locked, loaded or put away. We want to hear from everyone, joining forces together on all sides of this issue. Thank you, david. Also, big news, tonight, about Hillary Clinton. Reporter benghazi has also become a political issue. Republicans saying, it is Hillary Clinton who ultimately bears responsibility for the breakdown in diplomatic security. Although she called the attack her biggest regret, it wasnt exactly a mea culpa. You make these choices based on imperfect information. And you make them, to, as we say, the best of your ability. That doesnt mean that theres not going to be unforeseen consequences. Unpredictable twists and turns. Reporter over the past week, two major magazine cover stories have treated Hillary Clinton like the allbut certain democratic candidate for president in 2016. But today, she said, that she isnt even thinking, yet, about whether she will run. Hillarys comments came before a group of car dealers.
