hottest bands on the planet right now. and we've got them. the wanted. i'm going to head up there. and we'll see you all at central park. let's get to the latest on tropical storm isaac. team coverage this morning. sam, it looks less likely it will score a direct hit on tampa and the republican convention. but it may be more of a threat to the gulf coast. >> all that out and brand-new information this morning. we're going to show you. matt gutman's in tampa right now. we're going to show you everything we know about the new information. we're going to start with the 3d view that we like to put up with the storm like this. it shows where the higher clouds are. and the big circulation on the storm is right there. it is a good-sized system. we're looking at two areas of strong thunderstorms that are right there. the point of that is that all of this will move a little towards the north. the heavier rain will swing across puerto rico and haiti. already, we have pictures coming out of the first wind fields to move across puerto rico. knocked down a lot of trees and power lines. there's more of that ahead in the next few hours. our big deal or what we know now more about that storm system is the fact that this thing is crawling over many islands. and so, it will make its trip all the way to cuba as a tropical storm. and not an incredibly strong tropical storm. but once it passes cuba and gets to the warmer waters of the gulf now curving a little bit on the west coast to florida, we have feel like it has every opportunity in the world to strengthen to a strong category 1, maybe a weak category 2. and now, the center of uncertainty is along the alabama coastline. that means everyone from houston all the way to the keys has to watch this storm system. let me show you why tampa is not out of the woods yet. and why we're going live to matt soon, is because we've got the storm system. and many of the paths are cutting very close to tampa. close enough that flooding could be a concern. heavy rain could be a concern. and wind, as well. robin? >> sam, last night, we saw you on piers morgan. and you mentioned the gulf coast. in fact you were the first person to put that on our radar screen. you're right, the big question now, what could tropical storm isaac mean for the republican national convention which starts monday in tampa. abc's matt gutman has the latest on all that for us. good morning, matt. >> reporter: good morning, robin. overnight, we learned that all the public schools in the florida keys will be closed on monday. while that storm does keep creeping west of here, there is still strong concern of flooding here in tampa. it is the most flood-prone city in america. they're fearful that roads and bridges, even walkways at the convention like this, could be under water. this morning, tropical storm isaac is lashing into haiti and the dominican republic. and its winds are downing trees in puerto rico. 600 miles across, it's the size of texas. with those new forecasts shifting it west into the gulf. residents of tampa are waking up this morning to breathe a sigh of relief. it's the site of next week's republican national convention. and it's no longer bracing itself for a direct hit from isaac, but will definitely feel the effects of strong winds and heavy rain. >> while the nation is focused on tampa and the republican national convention, my job is to ensure that we're prepared for emergency in every community in florida. >> reporter: but nearly 800,000 people live in tampa's larger evacuation zone. they're expecting 50,000 visitors and delegates here for the convention, who could be flooded out, even by a tropical storm. how many people live in this red zone here? >> we're thinking about 180,000-plus people that could be evacuated from our level-a. that's what we call our level-a. >> reporter: key west said to take a direct hit from the tropical storm-force winds. and across south florida, residents are feverishly buying supplies, enough to survive three days without electricity. and already airlines allowing passengers to change tickets without penalty. >> any plans in tampa depend on the airports being open, ready to receive the delegates and people like myself, able to get there. i feel pretty good that we'll be in tampa, and we'll have a great convention. >> reporter: the rnc has contingency plans. it could delay the convention. for a day, or, if it is forced to, even take up stake, but at that point, robin, that is extremely unlikely. >> but everyone is taking precautions. all right, matt. thank you very much. george, you're going to be front and center this week on sunday. and talk about the convention. >> a critical moment for mitt romney. we'll have full analysis on sunday. we're going to turn to the stunning news about lance armstrong. the u.s. anti-doping agency is stripping away his seven tour de france titles and banning armstrong from cycling for life, after the cyclist said he will no longer contest charges that he used drugs to boost his performance. neal karlinsky has been on the story from the start. >> reporter: this morning, the u.s. anti-doping agency says it's official, lance armstrong, arguably one of the most famous athletes in the world, used drugs to fuel his win. then, led a wide-ranging doping conspiracy to keep his team on top. >> the reality is, there's so much cheating going on in sports, just because you don't fail a drug test, doesn't mean you're not cheating. >> it's a really important day for clean athletes. it sends an important reminder and message that if you cheat with dangerous performance-enhancing drug, you're going to be held accountable. and the decision to dope does not pay. >> reporter: armstrong spent a small fortune on the case, fighting and losing in court. he was left with no good options. either face an open hearing and possibly damning testimony, or refuse to participate. in a statement, he writes, enough is enough. today, i turn the page. i will no longer address this issue, regardless of the circumstances. adding that he is inknow innocent, but believes the process is one-sided and unfair. armstrong says the agency has no power to take away his yellow jersey. i know who won those seven tours, he writes. if he used the drugs that the anti-doping agency claims, how did he do it? floyd landis told us, he performed blood transfusions during the tour. claims armstrong has denied. >> this is a sad day in sport. when you think of lance armstrong, you think of what he means to so many people, especially those fighting cancer. >> reporter: this may be just the tip of the iceberg. sources tell us, armstrong may face two civil suits, seeking millions of dollars in damages, accusing armstrong of being a fraud. george. >> the story not over yet. neal, thanks very much. now, to get the top stories from josh. we're going to begin with breaking news here in new york. we're now hearing reports of at least four people shot outside the empire state building this morning near busy fifth avenue. the gunman has been shot and killed by police. there is no word yet on a motive for the shootings, unclear how serious the injuries. you see them being loaded into ambulance. at least four people shot outside of the empeer state building. the gunman shot and killed. we'll have more information as it becomes available for you. a st. louis teen missing over two years has turned up alive. the 17-year-old said she was held captive at the house you see her in illinois, the entire time, before she somehow managed to escape. police arrested a man and his mother at the home, after the teen told police she was beaten and assaulted nearly every day and then became pregnant. s.w.a.t. teams safely recovered her baby in the house, while arresting the suspects. more news as it becomes available. and new details about a possible warning sign from the suspect in the colorado movie theater massacre. the university of colorado says it ran a background check on james holmes before the shooting rampage. school officials aren't saying why. prosecutors are seeking school records on holmes, hoping to show that he was angry about failing his classes. and a spectacular site on this highway in louisiana. police actually set off this explosion to burn off fuel, leaking from a tanker that had been involved in the crash. the crash shut down interstate 10 for almost 24 hours and the highway is finally back open this morning. now, that shocking scene caught on camera at a busy subway station near boston. a mother and her son, falling on the subway track during the chaos of rush hour. it's a scene almost too shocking to watch. a woman, holding her young son, rushing across this crowded train platform. and then, straight over the edge. watch again. from the back of the crowd, 36-year-old meera thakrar, on the active tracks with her 4-year-old son. he falls from her arms, landing perilously close to the high-voltage third rail. >> i just thought that train was at this platform, but it was on that platform. >> reporter: horrified by bystanders in this boston train station wednesday, leaping into action seconds after the pair makes that four-foot drop. a woman jumping down and lifts the mother up, as a man scoops up her son. a rescue that took only ten seconds. >> it was just like that. god sent somebody to protect us. >> reporter: incredibly, neither thakrar nor her son suffered any major injuries. just a little soreness and perhaps a bruised ego. >> it was really stupid of me. whoever saved me, thanks to him. >> again, the station was packed. she said she was distracted, in a hurry. we've obviously all been there. but thankfully all of those people were there to help her and her son. >> i'm always moved when people act so quickly and unselfishly. >> instincts. it was selfless. >> josh, thank you. now, to the elite code of confidentiality about to be broken. a member of the s.e.a.l. team that carried out the raid on osama bin laden, has written a book about what happened that night. and just weeks before it hits book shelves, it's already creating controversy. and martha raddatz is joining us from washington with much more on all this. good morning, martha. >> reporter: good morning, robin. the head of special operations is now warning his forces that he will seek criminal prosecution on anyone exposing information that could cause fellow forces harm. the warning came right on the heels of this new book by a navy s.e.a.l., who was one of the leaders of the bin laden raid. he was one of the first men through the door that night in pakistan, coming face-to-face with bin laden. he uses the pseudonym mark owen in the book. his publisher says "no easy day" provides a blow-by-blow narrative of the assault, beginning with the helicopter crash that could have ended owen's life, straight through to the radio call confirming bin laden's death. the author has since retired from the navy, but what a career. he's been on hundreds of mission, including the dramatic 2009 rescue of captain richard phillips from somali pirates. it's unclear what kind of detail the book goes into. but it's not only the head of special operations who is concerned. >> how they come on to target. how they go off target. those types of details are things that maybe shouldn't be out there because our enemies will take advantage of them. >> reporter: but it's not like the s.e.a.l.s have been bashful over the past year. some active duty s.e.a.l.s playing themselves, in a fictional movie, "act of valor," which has some very real-looking raids. they even parachuted on to the red carpet at the hollywood premiere. but writing firsthand about bin laden is different. as for the author, he said it was time to set the record straight about one of the most important missions in u.s. military history. and his hope is one day a young man will read it and become a s.e.a.l., or at least live a life bigger than him. no doubt, lots of people will read it, george. it will, no doubt, be an instant best-seller. >> no question about that. martha, thanks very much. we're going to get the latest now on the professional tennis umpire arrested for murdering her 80-year-old husband. this morning, abc news has obtained new court documents. they could determine lois goodman's fate. john schriffen has details. >> reporter: this is the only kind of court tennis umpire lois ann goodman may be seeing for quite some time. overnight the 70-year-old u.s. open line judge was extradited from new york to los angeles where she's now awaiting a bond hearing. this morning, police say she almost got away with murder. it all started back in april when goodman told detectives her 82-year-old husband, alan, had apparently fallen and hit his head, saying she found a broken blood-stained coffee mug and her husband in bed covered in blood and unconscious. police believed her story until a coroner's investigator noticed multiple cuts on alan's head. >> we did an autopsy and it was determined that he died at the hands of another. >> reporter: this morning new court documents obtained by abc news appeared to paint a picture of a line judge who police say crossed the line. they say goodman not only beat her husband of 50 years with that coffee cup but investigators found e-mail she was sending to another man. messages which the "l.a. times" reports mentioned terminating a relationship and having alternative sleeping arrangements. another source telling the u.s. daily news was she was annoyed her husband was calling her 15 types a day. when asked about the accusations, she didn't seem fazed. goodman's lawyer said she was innocent and her arrest four months after her husband died was grabbing head lines. for "good morning america," john schriffen, abc news, new york. and to aimee, back home after her struggle to survive from a flesh-eating illness. and abc's steve osunsami has her incredible story. >> reporter: this exclusive, new video shows aimee copeland recently moving around her physical therapy center, in a motorized wheelchair. a team from katie couric's new show was following her progress. >> we're going to get started with exercise and stuff. >> reporter: this morning, she is finally back home. released wednesday, after nearly four difficult months in a cramped hospital bed. and after 11 surgeries and 8 weeks of grueling physical therapy. >> the biggest thing we've learned is how much we missed each other. we're together. we're whole. minus one, it's just not the same. for her, maybe, she might have felt a little more captive. like, i'm stuck with my parents. >> reporter: her journey began after a zip line accident in may, when she fell into a river. and the wound became infected with bacteria that claimed portions of all four limbs. this morning, she's waking up in a new, 2,000 square foot addition to her family's home, built to for her by friends and local businesses. there's even an elevator. and it takes her to a an exercise studio. her bathroom, bedroom and kitchen are all wheelchair-friendly. >> also notice the microwave is down low and accessible to her. they built her a waterfall in the backyard. as an avid outdoors woman, she loves that the most. >> she doesn't have to hike endlessly for miles to see a waterfall. she can walk out in the backyard and there it is. >> reporter: before the accident, she was very close to finishing her masters degree in psychology at a university here. she needed to write and defend her dissertation, which she still plans to do, once she starts driving. yes, driving, in the next several months. robin? >> i have no doubt she'll do that and much more, steve. and katie couric will have the first interview with aimee copeland, on katie's new show. "the sun." saying, it's about freedom of the press. and we also talk to the young ladies who were with harry, poolside. not everyone can marry a prince. but partying with one during your bachelorette weekend, that has to be a close second. >> we're at the coolest pool party ever. >> reporter: before prince harry bared his royal assets in these photos, he was in a las vegas pool. sporting a custom tank top, made by bridesmaids from new york. >> he asked if he could have one of the tank tops. he jumped on his friend's shoulders. >> he looked like a normal guy. it was amazing, here's the prince of england, wearing our tank top. >> reporter: the royal renegade, chatted it up with the ladies. even asking who was single. >> we told him our room number. we knew he wouldn't come back. he knew where we were staying, at least. >> reporter: they took off long before the prince trapped trou. but harry took their slogan to heart. >> he didn't really have a lot of security, which was really surprising. >> he looked to have a good time. didn't say anything rude or obnoxious. he was really kind. >> reporter: it turns out, that vegas vacation was the last stop in a continent-hopping booze-filled holiday. before sin city, he was hanging out with friends on a tropical paradise owned by richard branson. these photos posted on facebook show some of their antics. british tabloids say they were trying to outdo the movie "the hangover." this morning, prince harry may be feeling more than a hangover. according to britain's "daily mirror," his father chewed him out. telling harry, he's disappointed. and urging him to lay low. not everyone is so upset and disappointed with harry. richard branson is telling the normally buttoned-up brits, to chill out. shock, horror. leave harry alone. let's bring in ken warf. he was bodyguard to princess diana, prince harry's mom. he is now a security consultant. we hear that prince charles is pretty upset with harry. is the palace upset with harry? the bodyguards? or the press? >> well, i just heard that. i don't think the prince of wales is going to be angry. the royal family don't get furious or take their kids to order. the palace won't be pleased because of the negative publicity, after the wave of the william and kate wedding, the golden jubilee and the olympics. no one is jumping on harry for doing things. but the pictures, taking the edge off the great period of royal publicity. >> how did the phones get in the room? why weren't they taken away by the bodyguards? >> it's a question, really, of actually working out a relationship between prince harry and his security team. i wasn't there. but i've worked with him for many, many years. and you need that chemistry. you need the interaction with the people you're looking after. it seems to me, that may well have broken down. in this particular -- what makes this different and what's important about this, is this isn't just harry having a private party. this is a hotel in america, where he invites, you know, people he's never met before, and invites them to his hotel room. when you do that, you start compromising your own security. what should have happened and what didn't happen, sadly, ait appear, they need to be searched and their identities need to be checked. had they been carrying something beside their mobile phones, we'd have a real problem. but harry's been in compromising positions before. this has happened again. we need to build upon the relationship between him, his private office, and his security team, to make sure things don't happen like this again. >> what's going to change?
