Sargeant tony beminio and officer Justin Martin were the two officers murdered. Martin was killed first police say at least 15 was driving. Minutes later and less than two miles away beminio was shot at a stop sign. The suspect scott greene was found and arrested hours later. He was walking down a gravel road in Dallas County which is just west of urbandale. Greene flagged down a dnr employee and told him to call 911. Just months a they lost two other officers in a headon collision on interstate 80. The officers were transporting a prisoner when a trunk driver hit them going the wrong way down a highway. All four people involved in the cash died. Then in august, a we des moines officer died on duty while driving his motorcycle back to the department after testifying in a hit and run case. 114 officers have lost hair far this year.
