The Us Department of housing and urban development is giving dubuque more than 30 Million Dollars for flood protection. Kcrgtv9s Katie Wiedemann is live in dubuque tonight. Katie, who is eligible for this money . This is a program thats open to more than just People Living in downtown dubuque. Eligible too. But its aimed to help people who cant afford flood protection. This is often the scene on streets in downtown dubuque during a heavy rainfall. The water has filled basements and damaged homes storm after storm. More than eight Million Dollars of the grant money will pay for things like, replacing basement windows, putting in a sump pump and fixing cracks in the foundation. And the city says they plan to spend between 15 and 18 thousand dollars on each marburger who says his basement floods every time it rains. I hope we do get grants ya know, or something to take out that. You start paying for that out of your pocket, it becomes too much ya know.
