The Grundy County Sheriffs Office says, at about 12 40 am, a deputy tried to pull a pickup truck over but the driver sped away going into black hawk county. The chase ended on eldora road near the intersection with west shaulis road thats between hudson and waterloo. Deputies say they tried to pull the driver over for a license plate violation. North liberty could possibly they head back to school this morning. For the part of North Liberty that is in the Iowa City School district, School Leaders made 2 changes this school year that could push more kids to walk to school. First, the district eliminated discretionary busing for 9 schools. Thats also known as busing for students who are not entitled to it under iowa law. The district also changed the starting time for classes at Different School levels. In anticipation of more students walking, the city and School District has changed some crosswalks. All crossing guards will have light up stop lights and whistles. If possible, the city wants kids to avoid crossing penn street. Instead, the city suggests going further down to front street. 39 53, we would like to avoid students crossing penn street and dubuque street but also acknowledge kids have habits and theyve walked to school that way for years. A crossing guard died last school year in North Liberty after a car hit her at getting ready for the school year can be time consuming and some in iowa city may need some extra time. Route 20 police in iowa city released Surveillance Video of some recent robberies, hoping someone can identify the robber. The armed robberies occurred between july 20th and august. They happened at 3 restaurants. A mcdonalds, a culvers, and a pancheros, and also at the First American bank. All of them are in an area robber targeted employees outside the restaurants late at night, forcing them to go back inside and robbing them at gunpoint. Since then, police have advised employees at nearby businesses to leave through the front of their buildings and in lighted areas.
