Flood waters are also affecting more areas to the west of des moines. Swanson boulevard in clive was closed for most of the day monday. But the city opened it again late in the afternoon. Overflow this morning along greenbelt park. The park and its miles of trails remain closed this morning. And farther west, adel is dealing with high water as well. The Raccoon River is almost up to the bridge on highway 169 just north of the town square. Dallas county residents say this december flooding is the worst theyve seen in years. Hannah laabs we left my house around 9 00 this morning, snow on the ground. There were a whole bunch of rivers that were overflowed. There were a lot of roads that were covered with water. Eric several neighborhoods in adel were also flooded monday, but the waters there have since receded. Elizabeth and all this rain is leaving behind a big mess for homeowners. Water flooded this basement in ankeny monday. A crew from servicemaster by rice worked to rip up carpet and salvage whatever belongings they could. Despite having two working sump pumps, this home in des moines still flooded. Homeowner tivon feeley says the sump pumps just couldnt keep up. Tivon feeley they just cant keep up with the volume of water. So middle of december, we should were out here in a flood. Elizabeth the experts at servicemaster by rice say its better to act fast and clean up as soon as you can to avoid developing mold in your basement. Lets take a look at the up to the minute river levels of a few potential trouble spots in the metro. Right now the Raccoon River at fleur drive is at 16. 61 feet. Thats already well above flood stage at 12 feet. The National Weather Service Projects it will crest at 18. 5 feet on thursday. The Des Moines River at southeast 6th is about two feet above flood stage right now, at 26. 33 feet. Officials say it should also crest on thursday around 27. 5 feet. And the Raccoon River at highway 28 is also expected to crest thursday at 38 feet. Right now its at 36. 85 feet, just about a foot over flood stage. Police tell us the hit and run jacobs, a freshman from urbana. She was hit monday morning at lincoln way and ash avenue in ames. An isu Police Officer was driving up to the lincoln way and ash intersection and found jacobs lying in the middle of ash avenue. Jacobs was taken to Mary Greeley Medical Center where she later died from her injuries. Police are still looking for the driver that hit her. If you have any information, call ames police or story county crime stoppers. Elizabeth this morning, authorities are trying to figure out what happened to a man in davis county. On sunday, police found the man dead inside a home off highway 63 south of ottumwa. Investigators say the death is suspicious, but they havent released any more information. Right now we know 37yearold Jerry Dillinger is charged with two counts of murder. Investigators found a body this weekend in a house near thayer.
