Laura it all started when on merle hay road called about a drug complaint. And then one man, who was staying here as a guest ended up , one person down. Shots fired. I dont know who this person is. Laura one person down. The words said over Police Scanners around 4 00 saturday. A. M. We now know that person is 29yearold ali eisa abdalla yahia. A shot was fired by that person, and our officers ended up discharging their weapons and killing him. Laura gunfire rang out in the lobby of this holiday inn. Urbandale police say officer anthony brooks, officer justice weaver, and sgt. Jeff casey, seen here in an interview with kcci back in 2012 i have been a Police Officer in urbandale for 16 years. Laura were all involved in the shooting. But they wont say who fired the deadly shot. After the grand jury, i know but until then, we cant disclose a lot of that. Laura kcci has learned yahia, who is pictured here in a previous mugshot, has a long criminal history. Online records list several theft convictions, owis, and robberies. Authorities have had 253 interactions with yahia in polk county since 2006. Urbandale police say this shooting is still under investigation, and their body cameras will play an important role. I know there is video and i know it is evidence, so it will be a whole part of the process. Laura we tried to talk with yahias family tonight, but they do not want to speak at this time. When the investigation is complete, authorities will turn over everything to the Polk County Attorneys Office who , will most likely call on a grand jury. In the meantime, the 3 officers leave. That involves the estate of late slipknot member paul gray and his former doctor, daniel baldi. Gray died of a Drug Overdose back in may of 2010.
