Michael anderson is now facing three misdemeanors including failure to report dog bites from animals at his Animal Hospital that were not vaccinated and then encouraging the women who were bit to not report it. According to the website for anderson Animal Hospital, the staff here is committed to responsible pet ownership. But according to des moines police, there were 20 dogs and cats living here. The city allows a maximum of 6. Police say dr. Michael anderson explained the animals here were strays or abandoned by owners. We certainly explained to them that they are not a stray holding facility. Mark in addition to being cited for too many animals, dr. Anderson was also cited for failure to vaccinate after the Iowa Department of agriculture performed an inspection and determined the majority of the cats and dogs living at the Animal Hospital were not vaccinated, posing a risk to other animals being treated here. I would have thought that they were properly vaccinated which in fact we discovered they , were not. Yes, that was a surprise to me. Mark according to the police reports, one of those dogs living here, a pit bull, bit an employee from a neighboring business, and on a 2nd occasion bit an employee at the Animal Hospital. Police say both women were encouraged not to report the bites, which dr. Anderson admitted to. They were fearful that particular dog would have been euthannized cuz it was involved in a bite. Mark an employee of anderson Animal Hospital also faces charges for having 9 dogs in her South Des Moines home, most of which did not have vaccinations or licenses. Some were hers, some belonged to the clinic. We tried to speak to dr. Anderson this afternoon. An employee of the Animal Hospital told me no comment and lock the front door. Steve new information now in a shooting Death Investigation in the town of pomeroy. Just moments ago, the iowa dci identified the victim as 41yearold Dale Currie Potter of devils lake north dakota. Potters body was found early tuesday morning. No arrests have been made in the shooting, but investigators do not believe the public is in any danger. A toddler falls 3 stories today from a window. A neighbor watched as the 3yearold dangled from this third story open window, clinging to the window sill as she tried to climb back in. The girl lost her grip and fell just as the neighbor called 911. , police say the toddler was throwing toys and clothes out the window before she fell and the mulch and grass beneath the window broke her fall.
