Tower. If you look closely, you can see a v that comes off of the lighting off the top of that tower. We call it the tower beams. As far as we know, the first time it has been photographed. We are learning all kinds of new things about this bridge every day we come out here. Kristen ayers right now is at the toll plaza with a look ahead at knew things that will be happening in the next 24 hours. Kristen. Yeah, ken, just in the past 15 seconds or so, we got an update saying that this portion of the toll plaza here is just about complete. We are talking more than 90 of the weight complete. This should be done. So work crews tonight clearing some of the final hurdles before the span can be open. Caltrans say they are kicking off the final project one by one. Here is what will happen over the next 24 hours. Crews will finish demolishing 1,000 feet of roadway to make way for the bike path on the new bridge. They will also clean the tunnel leading to the western span and add l. E. D. Lighting to it. And finally, cranes will start bringing in large pieces. We went up on the bridge, got a new perspective of what that new bike path will look like. You can see where the bike path ends, right there. It dead ends in that area. It cant be built any further because the old bay bridge is still in the way. Going to take at least three more years before crews are able to completely demolish the old bridge, piece by piece. Back out here live, some of the lower profile work continuing out here tonight. There is still some striping that needs to be done on the roadway here, but again, caltrans saying they are well on track, ready to meet that deadline and maybe even earlier tonight. Thats significant because as kristen was explaning, that part of the bridge required most of the work and so to know they are already done on day two is really, really significant. Well, it, of course, is smooth sailing now on freeways and roadways around the bay area. As the weekend begins, but getting there was horrible. Traffic was a nightmare. Just getting near the other bridges to get across the bridge was a nightmare. This is what it looked like on 101 south just after 6 00 p. M. Most of that traffic was headed for the san mateo bridge. It was a slow ride all the way across. The chp says there was nearly a 60 boost in eastbound traffic on the san mateo bridge this afternoon. Getting from San Francisco to marin was not much better. Northbound traffic on the Golden Gate Bridge was up by a whopping 13 . This again on a get away friday on a big, big holiday weekend. San franciscos department of Public Health put out a health alert today, warning the public around august 16 or 17, the 14 people got sick from e. Coli. Im scared because i eat here all the time. Thats a major problem. And that nine of the 14 ate here at bermas superstar. So how do they explain the other five people . They are investigating the other five cases, but cant tell right now where they came from. They believe this is an isolated incident. The Health Department statement says quote, theres no on going risk to the publics health. One of patients is doing worse than the others, with a condition called syndrome, it can lead to kidney failure. Dr. Riley is an e. Coli specialist. Patients are more likely to report cases because they are more aware of it and because hospitals are more likely to report symptom, such as bloody diarrhea to the Health Department. It is not limited to bloody diarrhea. Diarrhea without any blood, so if someone had been to that particular restaurant and, you know, developed diarrhea, then they should report to the Health Department as well. Do we know how the e. Coli came from or where it came from . Reporter there are a variety of possibilities. It could be a meat or vegetable source. It could be something as cross contamination. Meaning a worker didnt wash their hands properly and got it in the food. We ask the Health Department, they arent making that information public right now. Joe vasquez, thank you. Well, crews battling the rim fire are getting a birds eye view. This video is from an unmanned drone aircraft. It is helping crews pinpoint spot fires and give them information for a more comprehensive fire map. A squad of firefighters in the bay area sent to help fight that fire is back home tonight. It is a sign of the 5th largest fire in california history is finally slowing down. 22 members of the San Francisco Fire Department joined nearly 5,000 other crew members out there. They say the nearly 200,000 acre wild fire is unlike anything theyve seen. We run 24 hour shifts up there, but we are used to working and we know we watch these incidents. Firefighters are hoping for full containment within three weeks. A group of people in San Francisco gathered to say no to a potential military strike against syria.
