Book of gun values Steve how are you my friend. Ham great to track. Listeners out there today great to have you here. First of all tell folks who might not know what that. Is and kind of the quick history of it. Well the quick history is that it goes back to 1901 it started out with 225 pages and honestly it wasn't that popular but now it's morphed into something completely different and about 2 and a half months ago we published a 40 at the edition 2512 pages it's got all the new 2019 makes and models and everything in between 8 Izzie including all day or 15 some listeners might be interested in so it's really become a one stop shopping center for industry and up to date values for the firearms industry how many pages did you say. $2512.00 who are Cal and you guys go through that every year in look at every gun and every value of the whole thing that's crazy. Well we try to do but you know I want you to know as long as you're bringing up the page come on this is a little interesting thing is that we're limited to the page count now from the printer and the binary can only do 2000 only $2512.00 pages if we're going to publish and print the entire database it would be closer to $3500.00 pages now but what we do on some of the sections that don't appear in print we make them available online so all you have to do is go to our Web site blue book of gun values dot com and you'll be able to look at those particular makes and models that are not in the book so if someone wanted to say Ok I don't want a book I just want to be able to do it all online can you do that yes Oh absolutely that's getting more and more popular and that's what we call an online subscription we have available one year 2 years 3 years of her nation's go to the Blue Book a gun values dot com click where you have to and by the way that's updated monthly and it's got thousands a digital color images too so it is actually more up to necessarily it's more up to date than the printed version comes out anyway that's correct Ok All right so kind of where are we in gun values these days because you follow the market and you know because it goes up and goes down it goes you know all around war what's going on these days. Well it's a good question time and maybe actually a little convoluted answer but you know collector firearms and you know I'm talking maybe or no one can eleven's here preach 64 models seventies Lugar's and some other military guns especially if they're an average condition those particular items have actually gone down in value the last year meaning average condition guns even collector guns and good supply really haven't done too well. Because the fact is you know a lot of the guys that own that stuff you know they're getting in their sixty's seventy's eighty's and more people are selling now then buy it and the people that are buying are concentrating on really good merchandise 95 percent 98 percent mint merchandise so you know the average gun the 6070 percent condition stuff there really isn't the demand for that that there was even 23 years ago so that stuff has gone down in value and it's so noted and 40th edition on the other hand you know. Air 15 especially are custom builds I think to say right now that. Are 15 pistols especially the pistol braces you know they had pretty good demand and also all the accessories that go along the Am locks and a mag pul accessories for your era fifteen's and variations that's that's still pretty hot but you know the bottom line comp is that and the entire firearms industry and what that includes ammunition industry there really is nothing on back order right now you can get whatever you want Conry interesting Ok so it's all available All right so we've got folks who called in I want to start off I will line 3 Brinks columns out a top you know I will ask a frank you made it on the gun talk what do you have for us to give a simple. Hope we had a bad phone or let's see I was right there. Evidently not I think it's hard to get a line in from Alaska sometimes Let's do this that's Cusco down the line 5 where Bill is with us out of Liberty Missouri Bill you're a. Well pitched just kind of a millionaire. You know it's not happen. Hey we're going to do this. Let's do this work take a quick break here we're going to sort out our phone issue or come back we'll talk with Steve Fiesta from the blue book if you want to get in line 866 get you on your own Tom Gresham be right back. Here I am I put something new upon Twitter by the way if you're not to follow me on Twitter Shame on you miss not a whole bunch of stuff this is an interesting article I linked to a lot of articles it's not a case of me telling you what I'm thinking it's going to get what's going on out there what's happening this one is an interesting article How to be mathematically pro gun without mentioning rights and I mean that sounds weird The article is it's basically how to win a. Gun rights if you will or a gun pro-gun argument what on ever dropping back to what it's our right because a lot of folks are talking to a day that they don't get there or stand and they don't agree actually but you can come in and say Ok well let's let's look at this logically and you asked some questions you know what is the problem murders that have an answer Ok where's the problem gun destine Let's talk about 2 thirds of those are suicides 7 eighths of those are min so it's actually not a gun problem it's a mental men's health problem and so this you know and it's a it's a process and I just put that up on Twitter so you can check that out as well so we're talking and right now we're talk about gun values and let's pick up again a Steve Fiesta ad for oh we don't have Steve Ok we're working on getting Steve back here we'll bring him in just a 2nd or so while we're doing that one things. I'm guilty. I told Steve before we got on said look I got to ask you because I have a member want to bought that Rimington 5 millimeter rim to Magnum rifle I found used in a gun store it was significant for a long. And it was priced right and I actually bought it just a little bit lighter if you will. Right so we got Steve back Hey Steve welcome back. Yeah I think we paid our phone bill but let me check on that on Monday Ok Who knows I just talk about this I want to know a gun store a few months ago and they've got on the shelf a Rimington 591 bolt action rifle in 5 millimeter Rimington which is you remember that's like 40 years ago when that thing was out and I think I got a good deal on it but I thought well ask me in so. What you have to pay for it Tom I paid all of $125.00. Well the parts are worth that much all congratulation. So tell me about it how does it all by the way to fight you know what you don't want to I have one of those 2 but it's a 592 that you know there are 3 similar to 592 headed to have been a good thing and you have a clip don't you I do and I was able to find an extra magazine on e Bay So let's see I got 60 bucks into that and then I needed an extractor and so I got you know more into that so it's like yeah I paid $125.00 but I probably by the time you're said and done I probably have 200 little over 200 in the thing well what I was going to tell you I don't lose the magazine because we do a you're probably going to get down to a fancy single shot and every But you know it's kind of an interesting story behind a 5 millimeter Remington 10 Magnum kids actually that was gender do is I think was around 1970 and that's when they released the with the 591 and a 592 right mean 10 bolt action rifles and if you want to know the truth it was a better cartridge a ballistically the. Ended $22.00 when Chester Mag it actually and I think it was close in 2100 feet per 2nd but what didn't work out unfortunately and you know I always talk about software and hardware the software being ammunition and the hardware being the firearms but the guns themselves the 591 and the 592 they were just kind of like upgrades of the 22 caliber inexpensive Remingtons at that time the real problem with them time was to trigger and the triggers were below average and the courage really you know the cartridge as good as a 700 h.m. Are now yes. But you know the problem is. The trigger is were really an adequate for the courage as was the rifle and then they discontinued I think the casing and you know they're they just never got to be as popular as the 22 May they didn't and there's this little following and then Aguilar brought out ammo for and they're doing short runs of 500 Rameses can buy ammo for your 5 millimeter room to Magnum if you're happy as it was. But yeah you're right 17 it's as good as a $780.00 more but honestly the modern rifles being built from something nature are so good and so accurate and as you say have such good triggers it would be hard to tell somebody that you go try to find ones or ones unless you're an old fogy like us who just like whole cool things right well that that's true but again you know once you get the gun up to your shoulder and you try to do you know get something at $100.00 yards I'm you're going to figure out that the trigger just isn't up to the job and that's exactly right that's why the 17 h m r. Is really popular now but I mean Remy general. He started out what a good idea but in this particular case the hardware wasn't up to the software business this way Steve I have a built in alibi for my Mrs. It's not me he's the rifle. Exactly by the way Imam Ali isn't it priced around a gallery around or is it only a little less than that it's a little bit less than that but I mean it's still pricey obviously it's this is somewhere between boutique and pretty crazy to get one of these but that's kind of where I attend a live on the intersection between Beauty crazy anyway I got so I get we do have some folks lined up for you now let me get to Bill I want out of Liberty Missouri Bill what do you have here for sci fi. Tom thanks for taking my call I have a knife point. It is a cold m 16 I want I mean it then looks like it's and then condition because it's full auto Collado Well he expand on it then all of a manic and then you Trichet overcareful auto was the converter was it originally that way or no Ok. Well Bill that's interesting so what you have is an original full auto m 16 yes. Ok and I mean it's all fully legal and you know it was read yesterday and you know all the high powered everything I have to go there live has got the stamp of the whole deal so you're good to go Ok yeah those things have gotten expanse of and. Me and all of their kind of like auction items now in class or a dealer is I'm sure we're going to have some class trade dealers that are listening I'm going to talk radio a dad can maybe 0 in a little bit better than I can but I mean will not stand in line with the other. $1520000.00 but damn if you have an original am 16 and hasn't been modified. I think you're actually after around. $25.00 to $30000.00 range now Ed retail depending on the original condition and I'm kind of a specifier I really. It doesn't have as much demand as maybe some other guns but Class 3 is doing really well right now and I think an option Halas could get $25.00 to $30000.00 for your gun build as you have if you have any idea was worth that real well I refer to what kind of puzzled me out there looking at some level but same like the a tuner. Holes that are bent the I want. Would you be thinking about selling or used to hold on to well I'm going to hold on to that for a while. But I hope I have a few years left so that's a question for Steve you know Steve there you can't get any more afternoon you can't own your machine guns full auto made after 1906 so it would seem kind of you know supply and demand the value of all that class 3 stuff has to just keep going up. Well you know here's a good way to look at it as an interesting statement on the night agree with that because basically what you're dealing with it is a fixed supply actually maybe decreasing just a little bit because maybe if every year there's a few more damaged than fire and earth after whatever but then all you have to do an ant scenario is to have a small amount of increase demand and you're going to have increased values knew no I don't think there's really any downside risk and no one in m. 16 right now and the difference between a one and an aide to catch are really a question for. Stablished auction house or a class 3 dealer with some experience and you know that's something we do not cover and the blue book again I just happen to know a little bit about on but you know class 3 weapons are really really doing pretty well and especially the m. 16 and it's interesting this comes up because I was asking jurors guns are a couple years ago said John if I want to buy a class 3 I want to buy a machine gun that's a good investment that I could shoot but still have fun with them and be a good investment he did before he said in 16 just get him 16 not going to get hurt and has a right nose right cool. Bill thank you so much I appreciate your call I think we've got time to get Mike in here on line 2 out of Red Lake Falls Minnesota Mike what do you have there. They nice to talk to you guys I love your program I listen to it all the time from day's drive my wife crazy but I have. Remington nylon $66.00 in Apache black that is nickel plated and I bought the gun Yaron new in 1973 and I paid $39.00 for it. To give you an idea but I see I still have it and every once in awhile I want to bring it out I still get the same comments that that gun looks like a toy it doesn't look like a gun we call it the Mattel game. Well so I guess you know I question is what's it worth my Steve I got about a minute to lay it on him Oh Ok Well Mike you know on nylon 66 was certainly an interesting guy and you know Remy 10 came up with the formula for Zite Tel plastic and they made it and black brown green or kind of a metallic cover and I mean they're not rare they made a 1000000 or 1000000 nylon 66 s. Between 159-1000 900 but. The Black Diamond as Apache black. There are a little bit more desirable and a really really good gun will sell for you know $55600.00 and then an average gun will sell for maybe 4 and a half to 5 and a half the really rare to $66.00 is that gallery special and $22.00 short but. You know I have one of those exactly like you're talking about as interesting Tom I own the all of the 5102 and nylon 66 or the 1st 2 guns we talked about today by. Accident I have been on them too but it's a unique gun and you'll never see anything like bad I am on the marketplace again as specially you know where the. About 75 percent got a fly crack in the. Moon And there is a $97.00 a stereo $70.00 that is double stamped. They all really. You know what is that when you see this double standard what are we talking yesterday well it's kind of like a mint. Coin that's double standard you know I'm really reading and I know you're a kill a shim before before they were ever circulated so they hit it toys with a roll die is what happened and I have seen that I know Kasia and you know it it commands a little bit of a premium it's more than odd a day than anything else but James I'd like to go back to the 1912 cold give me a little bit more information on that gun plays. Well I got it in against your own risk in about an hour and a 15 years ago and. The most thing that might help make our present condition and I would have a crack on the bottom of the dive cover right near where the from earlier writing is out of our heads it's got cold on everything up and on at the bottom it's around a grinding honor which is rust writing. I think it was a land leased to Russia and 1912 is what I think of my research is done but I don't really know. Interesting interesting what caliber 4545 Ok that's what I thought. Ok well let's do this series 7 a double stamp 1st at a $45.00 also. I'm a 45. And his head is a blue finish I would imagine yeah. I'll nicest a gun 90 that I had an 8 percent. That I will stand about in about 100 percent that is next. I'm all right and sat next to locate Ok. Well that's interesting you don't have a box or anything like that for it do you now and bought it for my when you could buy without you know going to a background check or those store and Portsmouth Virginia and it was and and and I looked down and I found a 40 grab in the mind of the double standards I'm a 0.0 actor to act like yes. Yeah that's why I brought that up. Well you know I think you're talking a little bit of money here. You know it isn't that good a condition it's a nickel finish 45 a.c.p. It's a series 70. I think you're dearly I think you're looking at $1250.00 to $1500.00. Ok. And some people actually may not want the double stamp they'll be a little has a 10th the bond looking at that but a cold collector might want it strictly because it's an odd a day but only if the condition is up there and as why as so I think that's you know a 12 to 1500 dollar gun actually on your 912. Colt 45 that what you described as a Russian blend Laith I'd have to do a little bit more research into that what kind of condition is that 75 percent you mentioned embed that Nic Robertson. Ok. I'd actually wanted to see as a manages of that before. I really hung you know a price tag from the trigger guard but I think you should be in all at least in the $600.00 to $900.00 range there are also all. Good to you Tell you what I've got I'm up against my break here guys Steve hold on don't go anywhere we come back I want you to talk just a 1st 2nd we come back about why you asked so many questions about the condition we're talking about that if you have a are going to fewer know the value of right now is your time Steve guessed it from the book or done by agent with a policy 66. I'm under Oh quite a bit yes I am and of course you don't do just guns I mean we could do like another hour on guitars could you actually do guitar values as well. Matter of fact I just had lunch with a couple of good friends and that's what we discussed for 2 hours was nothing but guitars that's Bluebook get tired value is dot com By the way you know at the shot show this year in the buck knife booth. Bob Taylor from Taylor guitars was there b.s. Yeah and I just I have to ask up you'll love this Ok so you know we've talked about this I'm a very beginner guitar player sighted like at this advanced age to buy. A guitar and now I have 1234 guitars so far. And then I went up to a mess and you know Mr Taylor's just want you know I have all your guitars and I'm a new player you'll love this quote and I said you know but I really don't play very well he says so many so few people do. And then he said and he says but does it give you pleasure and so we yes it does He says that's all that matters. And well he is absolutely cracking on that guy is one of the iconic figures in the guitar industry he actually built to get tired I mean to prove that it wasn't all the wood all the time he built a guitar out of a pallet he took the boards off Alex clued in to nailed it and made a guitar out of it. You know there's something about that that just reminds me of gun people who will build guns out of weird stuff and you know there's all kind of things you see occasionally go that was just odd and then but I think because they want to say can I do this thing and they do yes fascinating however let's say that your parents Of course I mean is that the guitar industry is not regulated and the gun and history. And yeah I mean I had at the huge difference. Here you look interesting and there's a lot of crossover between guitar collectors and gun collectors a lot of crossover if you're stick All right we've got let's see Nathan just online to he's out of Montana Hey Nathan what do you have there. Well I just got lucky enough to up pick up whether Greece or what just all from the eighty's good for your kind regularly what and who are and what caliber. Well that's the other funny thing is I ended up getting a 22 to 50 amateur radio way to the pair you got 2 of them yep move Ok. Holger they. Think they were made in 1980 and from the research I've done. There was $200.00 of them built total $150.00 of them in 3 a weight and 582-3250. Yes Yes You're spot on in your accuracy there and you know by the way those got hit by what was that gun stamp does that this and say made in California on it or you know in Germany or what does it say on the side of the gun Those are both made in Japan or they were they were major panel Andre. That I wasn't sure about. And you know what as I'm going to the page in my book I actually specify that we all know the weather bees have also been made in Germany too but you're right the silhouette pistols answer your question Ok. There really early ones in the late sixty's were made by j.p. Sauer and then they went to Japan but it's not going to make a lot of difference in the value and. They're at their expense of I mean I show him in the book I show on 100 percent gun at $3750.00 I haven't seen one in a long time and I think even if your guns and they ne are your pistols an 80 percent condition you're at 25023000 they did make 502225150 3 away so they're rare birds Congratulations. Thanks for taking my call as your Appreciate your help tonight I got I got I asked a personal question How much did you have to pay for. Well I was able to get them for 2000 apiece. You scared Oh I think that's a real real good value every now and then I don't I don't. Every now and then get a good one Egad bill and you know yeah I like that. Thank you Nathan appreciate that let's see do we have Jim we have 5 line 5 with us. And I will try to try Dean in Huntsville Alabama see with their Hey d.t. There yes sir how you doing today we're having a ball here where you have. Been away so 20 years 13 what is that it's a little bitty 22. Came in with a nylon case and the actual magazine. That's an interesting variation I actually don't think I list that and the gun book but I could certainly research it. We're talking with Dean at Huntsville Alabama he's got a Smith and Wesson 20 to 30 teen 22 caliber. And Steve fiestas from group of gun. Kind of fill in the man on that and Steve said this is not one that you actually list in the book you don't have all the way as a matter of fact Tommy has said as I was looking under the wrong category it's I was looking under center fire course as a rim fire because so many to 13 I would I would agree with Tom's assessment he had wasn't the greatest looking pistol in the world you know not they made him from 1902 and in 1909 there were some seeds failures with that gun and you know they were kind of like cut down versions of the model for 22 and a model 622 they didn't set any sales records I don't think they're going to get any better and the after market and I think my 95 percent condition gun but probably sell and a $200.00 to $250.00 range that they do special. That's work I do not appreciate that Steve got time for one more call here and one of this to count so we won't get Dave in here from St George Utah 3 because I was going to ask you about snake guns anyway but Dave has when they. Well you have a of a cult Python Blue Steel 3 inch barrel. Ok oh my goodness reenter 2 and a half inch I'm sorry 2 and a half inch sorry I wish it were 3. Yeah Ok. What's the story on the gun how long have you had it I bought it you know in the early eighties and fired 6 times. Is a blue or a night of ale stainless steel nickel what kind of finish as it is supposed to feel its blow blue steel Ok you still have the box written everything you know I wish I did. I think that box is probably worth $3400.00 you know oh my God Oh yeah I mean if you have a box sets numbered through a snake gun right now especially a python. You're talking. Dan you know it's like mint condition and I think that's going to be a 4 or $500.00 bill right now believe it or not or the Pentagon by the way you know that's interesting we bring that up gentlemen because unfortunately you have to watch your boxes these days and pythons too I mean there's some missile labeling going on and you know they're trained there's a whole bunch of different types of boxes I mean is a period box you know out of original box with the serial number on it but with them pythons and other snake guns right now Diamondbacks things like that got to really watch your boxes but since you don't have a box 2 and a half inch barrel. And I mean it's a blue finish. I am I have a question for you David what did you pay for it back in the early eighty's. Gee I don't know all 3 are around $300.00 maybe. Oh I thought it would have been a little bit more than that because you bought it used and the I didn't I don't know if it was friendlier I mean I really can't remember maybe. We have 30 seconds left Steve to give you a price if you would place Ok well what kind of condition is said down day actually what is it Ok I think you're looking at 3500 to 4 $1000.00 to make it you know a lot.
