Maximum Security moved out away from the rail and bump into another horse who also bump or a horse. If you can fish in an imaginary human track with lanes around the horse racing track basically maximum security moved from the 1st or 2nd lane out to the fore and that type of interference is against the rules if the other horses lost a position within the race and that's what happened all 3 of the horses at maximum security got in the way of all fell back further than they would have and that's enough to constitute a disqualification. Josh Silverstein with his news radio one of the point 9 Kayran you know there was a lot of backlash about this on social media but I really feel like I mean everybody's going to say their opinion. The thing is that you have a lot of people that are watching racing that don't necessarily follow it intil a big event like the Kentucky Derby comes on so if you would in a little bit more detail explain the rule so the rule says that if a horse is running down the track the horses intitled to hold their position but if the horse swerved from one way or one way or the other and gets in the way of all the horses either bumping them or getting in front of them so their momentum is lost so they have to slow down or run up a further distance that's against the rules if the interference causes a horse to any position within the right meaning if a horse would have finished 6 rather than 7 that's enough interference to constitute a disqualification so it's a lot like in human track and field you can kind of try to box someone in you can change the pace but if you swerve in front of somebody and get in their way and interfere with them that justifies a disqualification in both human racing and in. Horse race you see horses bump in horse racing there was some of that that went on there in the Kentucky Derby outside of what happened there with maximum security when does that become incidental or when does that become a problem is that what you're talking about there with the move over to Elaine or impeding progress I guess is how you say it right so there are 22 other issues 1st Often times when horses bump into each other both horses are. Regularly will seat forces moved and hit each other and if all forces are to blame the general rule is to just let it go let them fall off the hook in addition there's a 2nd piece when the bumping occurs much earlier in the race for example at the start of the race or even in the clubhouse turn the stewards pyres are much more likely to let it go at the start of the race it's hard to control the horses coming right out of the and in the 1st turn horses tend to be bunched more closely together because it's early in the race and so the stewards are going to allow for . Bumping and movement by the time you get to the 2nd turn what's known as the arc or the stretch that's when if a horse makes one of these swerving moves and bumps or gets in the way of another horse that the stewards are going to look at it as improper and it'll be much more likely that the use of the movement or something to last another horse position with. Josh has over time here with Josh I love watching the horses I'm not as much an expert on the rules as you are but as I watched the replay of that it looked like an obvious infraction and even to a lot of people it didn't maybe didn't change the outcome of who would've won anyway but the rule is the rule and it was very close it looks like to me that something really tragic could have happened on the race there in. Look like one of the horses and remember which one of the Express almost went down almost I mean right there they almost clipped heels and it could have been a huge mess there it absolutely could have been a huge mess but I agree with your analysis and I think most other people agree with this is well met some security would have won the race regardless he ran and it's stronger race in some respects surprisingly strong because when the competition came up to him he was able to pull away again and that's relatively rare in horse racing for front runners to do this type of race given how fast the pace was so it was some security around a very impressive race but the standard is whether he cost some other position a place whether his movement altered the result of any of the horses behind him and he clearly altered the result of some of the horses behind him and so he deserved disqualified judge Silberstein horse racing expert Josh Were you surprised they did it in the Kentucky Derby that they went with that ruling so historically the stewards have been much more lenient in major races like the Kentucky Derby than they had been in your every day race so I was somewhat puzzle I was someone uncertain about what they were going to do yeah it was it was I was thought well it looks like there's a disqualification there but who knows if they'll actually do it but the stewards came down unanimously and I think that shows a lot for the integrity of the sport that despite the really hot spotlight on them they apply the rule correctly and came to the right result Well there was a big what was it $3000000.00 purse in the Kentucky Derby and they knew that there was a lot at stake they didn't come to that decision lightly and it's a blunt talk it sucked I mean it really did it because I mean you know the best horse actually didn't have winning I mean he would have but I you know as I looked at it I mean it looked like it was a foul to me I was a little. Surprise they went I guess with the decision but there was no question in my mind there was encroachments even the jockey said look the horse is a baby and when he got around that curve and got around that turn he got spooked by the noise of the crowd and you could see and you've got to give the jockey credit he pulled the horse back but the damage was done it was too late part of the problem was that the jockey made some comments afterward about how he didn't do it intentionally right and part of the problem here is that that's not relevant to the rule if the jockey does something and intentionally or negligently airlifts Lee that can lead to a pension moving forward but when we look backward should the horse have been disqualified in and it doesn't matter right all that matters is the horse moved we still went more than one lane and interfere with other horses costing them that he did and so the disqualification was correct what does this mean for the next race because I'm guessing Omaha Beach is coming back you've got a country house now the winner of the Kentucky Derby Maxim security is going to run you still got improbable Tacitus' out there too so what does it mean for the next race so a few things 1st Omaha Beach is surgery is going to keep him out of training for long enough that we won't see him until after the Belmont all mamma beach will likely point traverse in August.
