He said that cohen pled guilty to it, cohen paid it and then was reimbursed by trump. I can can and spend as much say money as they want to. Lanny its perfectly acceptable for them to know the facts, but there is only one law, there are not to laws. The law doesnt make a distinction between money that comes from a campaign that is
for the principal purpose of politics, which is what the prosecutors found. There is no distinction between the, as mr. Trump said, Campaign Funds or personal funds. Both are subject to one limit and, number two, disclosure. Neither of those occurred for any reason that mr. Trump didnt want anyone to know about 130,000 of hush money to ms. Daniels, and he asked mr. Cohen, according to the prosecutors martha you make it sound like its very easy to make that connection and we all saw that Michael Cohen pled that there was a connection. In fact you said yesterday that he is the exact words of the prosecutors told him to use in terms of, at the direction of the president , those payments were made to influence a campaign of 2016. So those are the words that Michael Cohen used when he pled guilty. If he had not agreed to use
those words, would he be able to get the sentence that he got or have made this plea at all or was it incumbent upon him using those words . Lanny lets talk about the facts behind the words. I dont know what would have, could have, should have been. He pled guilty, hes going to jail. Martha federal Campaign Finance law is not merely cut and dry as you suggested. Its very, very difficult to prove where the money came from and whether or not it was a campaign Campaign Funds that were used or donations to the campaign. The prosecutors developed a case with the evidence of the members of his campaign, if you read the entire information put out by the prosecutors. Members of his campaign, members of the Trump Organization all document that the money was paid right before the election and the prosecutors brought charges that mr. Cohen was motivated for political reasons to pay hush money, and that mr. Trump is named as the person who directed thats their word and coordinated thats their word. And you could argue how jurors will come out, i completely agree with you. I never use the words, cut and dried. I believe you did twice. I said reasonable inferences and inferences can be debated. A lot of people believe that Aaron Hernandez was guilty in the death of oden lloyd. We have video here of his mother weeping and holding his bloodied shirt. The car that was rented that was brought there, was rented by Aaron Hernandez and he was at the scene. Why do you believe he didnt do it . Because three people identified him as being someplace else and three other independent witnesses identify the person that was actually in the car as having long hair with corn rows. Thats not Aaron Hernandez, i think the evidence was overwhelming that he was innocent and thats why the jury acquitted him. And just to clear that up, i didnt represent him in the first case. We won the acquittal was in the second case for the two murders, im talking about the first case in which he was convicted and sent to prison for the rest of
his life. I have a reasonable doubt that he was guilty. What a lot of People Dont Know was he was prosecuted under the Joint Venture theory of meaning the prosecutor doesnt know who pulled the trigger. There were three individuals that were there. Four men went in and three came out. The others who had extensive criminal records, and based on what ive seen, i thought that there was a reasonable doubt in that case. I didnt represent him there so im not as intimately involved with that case, so thats what i can say, i have a reasonable doubt that he committed that. I know he didnt commit the second case. Martha he is a complicated person, obviously enormously talented on the football field. But also he was a troubled guy with a lot of issues. He was picked very low in the draft, and you have a soft spot
by him. I do. I think he was someone that was completely misunderstood and that is why my book is a completely different view of him. We know the story line, its been told a hundred times. This book shows a different perspective of him. And he was the type of person that couldnt say no to people if they wanted something or needed something. He was a kind in the, and you cant judge a book by the cover in this cover was pretty hard. Martha it is complicated. You have a lawsuit on the nfl on behalf of his daughter. What are you accusing him of . This is a lawsuit for loss of consortium for his daughter. This still stems from the issue for cte from which the nfl
deliberately withheld from its players the information they had which shows that Tackle Football and repeated Head Injuries cause severe brain damage which is the director linked to suicide for which he died. Martha but no link to his initial murder, you dont think he murdered because of cte . I dont because i have that reasonable doubt. But i say this with that disclaimer, my knowledge on that case is limited. So all i can say is based on looking at the case im a lawyer and i look at it from a certain perspective. The perspective that i see it in is, even if the dash of the prosecutor cant even tell you that he pulled the trigger. So you have to have some doubt there. His overt acts were completely explainable for which he was convicted because of evidence that did not coming in that case. He was being hunted by a drug dealer at that time which is why he carried a gun everywhere he went, which is why he had these people around him all the time. And that is what the book does,
