The suspect in the el paso massacre confessing hes the killer and admitting to authorities that he was targeting mexicans. Thats according to a sworn statement from a detective. We knew on the day of the shooting the suspected shooter got out of his honda civic and gave him self up to a motorcycle officer that was nearby on the scene what is new to see in writing, that according to his affidavit, he admitted to the shooting but he said that he was in fact targeting mexicans. That would go in line with the idea that the authorities are considering filing federal hate crimes charges in addition to the capital murder charges and that the alleged shooter faces. Were learning more about the phone call that the suspected shooters mother made to the Allen Police Department in late june, weeks before this mass shooting. Were told the suspects shooters mother made this call. It wasnt to 911 or to call for service. It was more of a call to the main line to get some information. She didnt leave her name and her sons name. The way that were able to confirm that this call happened is by going through manually and looking at the Security Camera footage and listening to the conversation on their end. The suspected shooters mother called about owning an aktype rifle. The concern was about her age, experience and maturity in regards to owning this gun. She was fearful that he would injury himself with this type of a weapon. So after that, the Public Service officer comes around and says, is your son suicidal . Has he made any threats against others or has there been any dramatic change in his behavior recently that would cause alarm . The answer to those apparently was no. The suspected shooter faces capital murder charges. Theyre considering pursuing the Death Penalty and now with this in writing saying that he was targeting mexicans, it would make sense that authorities are heavily considering filing the hate charges as well. And were hearing from some of the First Responders . Yeah, the First Responders obviously showing up to a scene like this, theyre already considering heros by many people, especially those that survived this terror attack. Now were learning more about what happened during and after. Authorities say they got here within six minutes. Many of them broke protocol and went inside without having any backup. Fotus dulos appeared in court with his missing monitoring device around his ankle. Two people matching the description were seen on video the night his estranged wife vanished. Items in bags had bloody items matching the dna of Jennifer Dulos. Fotus dulos says his client was billed for her tests and they want access to the records to see what she was being tested for, which could help support a defense theory that she disappeared on her own if she was seriously ill. Police say the perpetrator should never have been out on the streets. This person should have been in prison and not allowed to be in our community committing the violent acts. Based on his prior arrest record, hes a violent individual who should have never been considered for Early Release based upon Assembly Bill 109. Assembly bill 109 passed in 2011 in california. It was aimed at reducing the prison population and also called for a certain nonviolent felon to serve time in county jails rather than state prisons. Today the California Attorney general told fox news that we should always be prepared to reevaluate laws but noted its never easy. Rick has he done that before . What else do we know about it . He has a long criminal rap sheet. Hes 33yearold zachary castanada, a documented gang member with a long criminal history including weapon and drug convictions. The crime spree was chaotic. Hes alleged to have killed two people at an apartment complex and then made a number of stops robbing stores and attacking men at a gas station, nearly cutting off his nose before killing two more people. An off duty firefighter getting credit for stopping a guy carrying a loaded rifle at a walmart. Police in springfield, missouri, say the guy was also wearing body armor and Walking Around inside the store. Witnesses say when he walked out, the firefighters stepped and held him at gun point until cops aarrived. They say the man didnt fire any shots. Nobody got hurt. The suspect caused chaos as you might imagine since this comes days after the shooting at an El Paso Walmart that left 22 people dead. Matt finn live with more what was the guy doing . Right now police are holding back a lot of details until charges are formally filed. Its not clear what the suspects intent was or how bad this could have been. Police did arrest him on a first degree terrorism charge. Police say that 20yearold surrendered outside the missouri walmart. Someone went in two separate rooms and stole luggage. 8 30 tuesday, another fire was intentionally sill at the Hilton Hawaiian village and tower. Police say Security Cameras recorded the same person at all three locations including footage in which he is carrying backpacks that match the description of the stolen luggage. Happened on a flight from chicago to south bend, indiana. Passengers say she slurred the security announcement. Once the plane taxied to the runway, she sat down in the jump seat and passed out. Passengers had to buckle her up. After the plane landed in indiana, she started crying and asked what city she was in. A breathalyzer said she was five times over the legal limit for Flight Attendants. Police say when they got there, they found a woman with multiple gunshot wounds, another man with minor injuries and former olympian michael barrasone. They also found a handgun. According to Court Documents, tannarack called 911 after being shot twice in the chest saying that michael barrasone shot him. The article goes on to say that barrasone repeatedly said i had a good life as police took him into custody. Police had been called to the property several times in the days leading up to that shooting. Rick . The victim had said that her life was in danger prior to this . So investigators would not confirm the details with fox news. Several outlets posted screen shots of lauren tannaracks account saying a she feared for her life. According to the new york times, tannarack said im being bullied by a 63 man bullied to the point that im afraid. And tannarack said that her and her fiance kept horses at barrasones form and barrasone wanted to evict them. Some in the Equestrian Community have rushed to defend barrasone.
