President. This is outnumbered, i am sandra smith and yeartodate harris faulkner, former deputy spokesperson for the state department marie harf, the editor of townhall. Com katie and todays unlucky guy Political Editor of townhall. Com, guy benson is here and it is good to have you. It is great to be back, beautiful new set, beautiful new studio. Is looking good. New car smell. Sandra lets get going. A secretary of state to others in nbc report and defending President Trump. I think its the most important to reof firm my commitment that this role that President Trump, that to dispel this notion that i have ever considered this notion. I have denied that repeatedly and it continues to be misreported. There has never been a consideration in my mind to leave. I serve at the appointment of the president and im here for as long as the president feels i can be useful to achieving his objectives. Sandra then a reporter asked him this. Addressed the main headline of this story that you call the president a moron and if not, where do you think these reports im not going to do with petty stuff like that. This is what i dont understand about washington. I am not from this place. But the places i come from, we dont deal with that kind of petty nonsense. It is intended to do nothing but divide people. Im just not going to be part of this effort to divide this administration. Sandra President Trump tweeting this. Nbc news is fake news and the more dishonest than even cnn. They are a disgrace to good reporting. No wonder their news ratings are way down p are he also tweeted this, the nbc news story has been totally refuted by secretary tillerson and Vice President pence. It is fake news. They should issue an apology to america. The nbc report had claimed Vice President pence intervened to talk to others and out of resigning and to ease tensions. But i want even direct my question, this all just happening moments ago. What you make of it all came back guy i think this is an audience of one, but the secretary of state was speaking to and thats the president. He took what was sort of an interesting gossipy story and blew it up into a much bigger story by calling a News Conference to talk about it. And the reason he did it is because i think he wanted to signal directly to the president that he is loyal and he is on board and that these whispers are at least misleading and want to punch at the media, which is something that the president loves. Sandra let me get this out of the way. He did not directly address the use of that particular word and say no, i did not say that. He just said he would not address these petty things. Harris the guys point, you can make the argument that he is managing up. Thats what i hear you saying. But the one thing he didnt do was manage acrosstheboard with no i didnt say that, which would completely refute whether or not it was actually said. Now its up to nbc and these others to try to prove it. We will see. I dont know what thats going to look like, but the bigger point of all this is that he and the president are on the same page. He called it nonsense. He is not from d. C. He had all of the president talking points on the fact that i dont come from here. We dont deal with is nonsense. Sandra i dont think you can say theyre on the same page does from that News Conference because you when i talk about it this morning as far as the thoughts on Foreign Policy are concerned, they have been accused of having mixed messaging coming out of this white house. Marie and just this week, we saw him publicly in a tweet sort of criticized Rex Tillerson for diplomacy with north korea saying its not going to work, dont even try. They have been multiple news reports that they have been at odds on certain issues. I do not think he can deny that he said that from what ive heard. Multiple sources are saying he did. And keep in mind, if youre a cabinet official any of up a press conference to say that you are still a supporter of the president and youre not quitting especially for one sandra this is media acting in a way that is extremely biased towards us president. Marie let me just answer that and then ill come to you. Especially because Rex Tillerson doesnt speak a lot publicly, guy is right pretty took a gossipy story and i think the president wanted him to come out and basically pledge his allegiance to this minute administration. Katie i think is trying to address that is issue of these petty stories constantly being in the news and being a distraction to the governing agenda of the administration at every single level. Look at the way he broke down his statement. He reestablished his commitment to the president. He reestablished why exactly he took the job in the first place, mentioning he didnt know the president before he took the job, that listed a number of serious accomplishments from his team at the state department all the way to nikki haley to really show that this is a very petty issue. Sandra the report cites three administration officials. This wasnt just one source. Katie went as far as to say that the Vice President mike pence had to intervene to prevent him from quitting. Which he outright denied. Never considered resigning. Sandra one thing i want to address real quickly is the issue of the president allegedly not being on the same page as Rex Tillerson. They were on the same page, theyre just working in different ways. Just because they are having differences, doesnt mean theyre at odds just because they have different messages publicly doesnt mean theyre not on the same page privately. Harris so tillers and said i never had to be persuaded to say because i never considered leaving. So he did refute that. Lets move on. Fox news alert now. The arrival of President Trump in las vegas. The president is headed to the city gates after a gunman opened fire, as you know, on that huge crowd of concertgoers pretty he killed 58 people and himself and injured hundreds more. In las vegas, they are remembering those killed by the gunman just days ago and praying for the hundreds who were wounded. The white house says the president s visit wont get into the politics of the situation, so you can read between the lines pretty will be talking about what the democrats want to talk about, dont gun control. Instead, he will focus on those hurt by this tragedy and those affected most. He will meet first with the patients and the people for whom medical services are caring before he goes to see the many heroes who jumped into the action amid all the chaos and fear sunday night. The president said this earlier. Is a very sad thing. We are going to pay our respects and to see the police who have done really a fantastic job in a very short time, and they are learning a lot more, and that will be announced at the appropriate time. Its a very, very sad day for me personally. Thank you. Harris a story never gets any easier in the facts keep building. Where are we in all of this . Katie i think the president again is here with a very humbling moment. These are some of the hardest things that the president of the United States has to go through. I think watching him today talking to people who were helping that day is going to really be the story here. This morning, sandor had on a marine who helped bring people to the hospital. His girlfriend had broken vertebrae and a broken rib and was still throwing people over a fence to get them to help. This is a story of humanity and americans helping each other literally under fire and i think hes going to be able to highlight about that today in a way thats uniting a nonpolitical which is what we really need right now. Harris as you were talking with that maria and weve seen so many people their stories that have been replicated throughout just surviving the worstcase scenario, i just cant get past that Human Element to even move on. Sandra this is such an opportunity for this president to put the focus back on them, to put the focus back on the victims, the First Responders, the people that werent First Responders that ended up being that help to save so many lives that night. Guy i think its exactly right for the white house to say this is going to be a politics free zone at least today. We know when we are going to talk about it later in the show, guns are a huge issue, gun control is being hotly debated, people are at each others throats over the politics of this, but for the president to visit this site for the first time, to comfort people who are grieving and the bulk of people who are really heroic in their actions and their behavior under extreme duress, that is precisely what the country needs and i think thats what las vegas needs. I hope the white house maintains the nonpolitical posture because there will be pressure for them to get political. Theyre going to get questions that are political in nature, and i think the president s instinct here is correct to say none of that, not there, not today. Harris marie, you and i have talked about this offcamera and its one of those things where its not even bipartisan, its nonpartisan to come together today. The president doing this backtobacktoback, he was just in puerto rico yesterday being consoler in chief. Marie as katie said, its the toughest job he has, its a very hard one. And i want to hear exactly what guy said the president goes to las vegas today. I also hope theres not not more tweets. I understand why he did it, but i really want the focus for the rest of the day to be on those First Responders upon the survivors, and on the victims. Katie i who would hope that the media would also take a break and focus on the survivors to and not criticize every little thing that the president does today. He happens to say one word. Harris we saw a lot of that yesterday. Marie i think that well see how its covered and i dont think the president was perfect yesterday and i think its fair to say heres what he did did well and heres what people were looking at a little differently. Harris i wish theyd said it so gracefully. Marie thank you. Guy we just on the screen, we put up on our big board photos of the victims and i think what sometimes happened, and is natural especially, though they are. So much mystery surrounding the motives of this monster and what he did and why he did it and there is a journalistic instinct to go after that, but he is a despicable piece of garbage who stole those peoples lives. And focusing on the lives that they lead and the realities that were shattered of those around them, that is newsworthy just as much if not more so than coming after and finding out more about this horrible person. Harris one of the things we havent talked about much as you talk about the lives lost, the lives changed forever, some of those injuries. One of our members here, Fox News Contributor was telling me its like a bomb goes off inside the body when youre hit from that distance, high velocity bullet travels through. It doesnt just go in and out pretty he says it becomes shrapnel in the body. Theyre going to survive but there changed forever. Katie the mental aspect of going through Something Like this is just horrific. Many of the people who are there will have serious ptsd as a result of this and thats just a shame because like you said, their lives have been changed forever as a result of one monster who none of us can relate to. Harris big job by the president today, hes been doing it consistently. We will watch and cover that live here on Fox News Channel. As he touches down in las vegas. President trump is facing some Big Questions as well as he is headed to las vegas to comfort those victims of sundays concert massacre. While the white house attempt to keep the focus there, democrats are stepping up pressure on the president to work with them on gun control. You heard guys say it. What can we expect from either side on this day . And b are Just Moments Away from a senate panel update on their investigation into russian meddling the 2016 president ial election. We will have the details. Stay close. Okay folks lets get the lady of the house back on her feet. And help her feel more strength and energy in just two weeks. Yaaay the complete balanced nutrition of ensure with 9 grams of protein and 26 vitamins and minerals. Ensure. Always be you. Sandra fox news alert right now. We are awaiting Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman richard burr and vice chairman mark warner. With an update on their probe into russian meddling in the election. The senators are expected to largely endorse an Intelligence Report that moscow did interfere in the election and to warn that states should prepare for similar meddling attempts in the Midterm Election next year. So we are waiting on that update and i know you have some strong thoughts on this. Guy i think theres so much to discussion about the dysfunction of washington and a lot of it is merited and true, but i think that the Senate Intelligence committee deserves a shout out for going about this process in a professional, bipartisan manner. I think we are going to see some findings that ought to disturb and concern every single american because if, and it seemed like when, we find out for certain if the russians attempted to interfere in our election, that is not saying that Hillary Clinton should have one. That is not a shot at donald trump read that is simply grappling with a very worrisome fact that an enemy of ours or at least an adversary is trying to mess with us and our electoral system, which is the bedrock of what we do in this country. Sandra i see a lot of agreement at the end of the couch. Guy are going to get me in trouble. Marie on the one its going to get in trouble. Adding a couple of weeks ago, the department of Homeland Security sent 21 states notices that there election systems were attempted to get hacked into. No votes were changed, no one was successful but the most important thing we need to do with this report is prevented from happening again. I want this administration to take seriously the threat because it made him not be democrats to get hacked, it may be republicans. They need to look at these findings and say this is only going to get worse, how do we prevent this . Katie thats going to be the big question moving forward is what is going to get done as a result of these findings, i would hope that it isnt just about political actions versus Real Solutions to preventing the russians from interfering in the future. The administration from the beginning of the trumpet ministrations goals has said that they want to seriously address the cyber war that we are in. This is not surprising. The russians dont just attract u. S. Elections but they also attack election over the world. So moving forward, we will have to see and accept the reality that this is a world we are living in and would better be prepared for it next time by putting those things aside. One more point. At the end of this, there is going to have to be reconciliation on the fax between the special counsel investigation, the house intelligence investigation, and the Senate Intelligence committee investigation, and i think there will be a lot more perspective on what actually happened once we can see all those reports together. Harris if one side isnt looking to indict the other, it would really be helpful because no one has argued that the 17 agencies werent at least in part that something happened. The president wasnt wrong when he was questioning whether or not there had been some votes that mightve been attempted to. You bring up a beautiful point in those states, its not that the votes were flipped but something was going on in those elections. Every member when he alluded to that. Is it possible that we can go forth with out one side or the forth with out one side or the other gearing the maca getting sophisticated lady, it doesnt mean that it would flip the vote. It doesnt mean that at all. What it means is we better walks or six. Guy i think thats right, i think the other point that im ruminating on this, we have not heard a single peep or leak but theres going to be any bombshell coming out of this committee on the seaboard collusion. We were all about collusion, collusion. It doesnt sound i think we would know. We would have an inkling that there was Something Big about to drop if they had something on that. My guess, just a hunch. Harris by that, you think would leak. It hasnt liked and i think we are going to get some good information on some important information. I dont think theres going to be some sort of smoking gun proving time for the trumpet will because im not sure that a smoking gun exists. Marie rob muller has a lot more to do. Sandra many in the Mainstream Media pushing hard for gun control in the wake of what happened in las vegas. One host even saying the nra should be branded a terrorist organization. As is more pc politics and is it wrong to push an agenda at this time . And as weve been telling you, President Trump visiting las vegas. The gun debate is raging. Sandra update by the Senate Intel Committee on the probe into but russian meddling in the election. Lets listen. Because the investigation of this unbelievable act. We are here to update you about you and the American People about the investigation into russias meddling in the 2016 election. When we started this investigation on 23 january of this year, we had a very clear focus. We were focused on evaluation of the Intelligence Committees assessment of russias involvement and our 2016 election. Additionally, the investigation was to look into any collusion by either campaign during the 2016 elections. The third piece was an assessment of the ongoing russian active measures including information and influence campaigns that may still exist and may be ongoing. The investigation started with those three buckets of interest. Now we are over 100 interviews later, which translates to 250 plus hours of interviews. Almost 4,000 pages of transcripts. Almost 100,000 pages of documents reviewed by our staff and some by members. It includes highly classified Intelligence Reporting. It includes emails, campaign documents, and technical cyber analysis products. The committee has held 11 open hearings this calendar year that have touched on russias interference in u. S. Elections. I can say that are dedicated russia investigative staff have literally worked 67 hours a day since 23 january to get us to the we are today. Six to seven days a week, excuse me. So far in the interview process, we have interviewed everybody who had a hand or a voice into the creation of the Intelligence Community assessment. We have spent nine times the amount of time that the community spent putting this together, reviewing the ica, and reviewing all the supporting documents that went in it but in addition to that, the things that were thrown on the cutting room floor that they might not have found appropriate for the ica itself, but we may have found of relevance to our investigation. We have interviewed every official of the Obama Administration to fully understand what they saw, with clarity and trans transparencyd what they did and did not do that drove those actions. Again, a reminder that we will come out with a finding at some point. And part of that hopefully will be recommendations as to changes we need to make. So weve tried to think as thoroughly through this as we can. We have interviewed literally individuals from around the world. So for those of you that choose to stake out when the next witness is coming, there are some that snuck through because you dont know who they are. Now, it is safe to say that the inquiry has expanded slightly. Initial interviews and document reviews generated hundreds of additional requests on our part for information. It identified many leads that expanded our initial inquiry. The volume of work done by the staff has prepared the committee to look at some areas of our investigation that we hope will very soon reach some definite conclusion, but we are not there yet. We are not ready to close. One of those areas is the ica itself. Given that we have interviewed everybody you had a hand in the ica, i think there is general consensus among members and staff that we trust the conclusions of the ica. But we dont close our consideration of it in the unlikely hood that we find Additional Information through the completion of our investigation. The Obama Administrations response to russian interference as i said, we have interviewed every person within the administration. They have volunteered and they have been unbelievably cooperative to come in and share everything they knew and in most cases, were interviewed for over two hours. The meeting at the mayflower, let me be specific. These are not issues that are close. We have not come to any final conclusions. We have interviewed seven individuals that attended the mayflower event, the testimony from all seven were consistent with each other, but we understand that with the current investigation open, they may be Additional Information we find that pulling that thread may give us some additional insight that we dont see today. Changes to the platform committee. And again, i am addressing some things that have been written by you in this room and they may not have done it but we felt that we had to dig deeply into them. The Committee Staff is interviewed every person involved in the drafting of the campaign platform. Campaign staff was attempting to implement what they believed to be guidance to be strong, to be a strong ally on ukraine but also leave the door open for better relations with russia. I am giving you the feedback we got from the individuals that were in the room making the decisions. Again, not closed, open for the continuation. The last one i want to cover is the comey memos. This topic has been hotly debated and the committee is satisfied that our involvement with this issue has reached a logical end as it relates to the russia investigation. Again, this is not something that we closed. But we have exhausted every person that we can talk to to get information that is pertinent to us relative to the russia investigation. Questions that you might have surrounding comeys firing or better answered by the general counsel or by the justice department. Not the select committee of intelligence in the United States senate. There are concerns that we continue to pursue. Collusion, the committee continues to look into all evidence to see if there was any hint of collusion. I am not going to even discuss initial findings because we havent any. We have a tremendous amount of documents still to go through and just to put in perspective, i said weve done over 100 interviews over 250 hours, we currently have booked for the balance of this month 25 additional interviews trade that may not end up being a total but as of today, there are 25 individuals booked to meet with our staff before the end of this month alone. Pertaining to the russia investigation. We have more work to do as it relates to collusion, but we are developing a clear picture of what happened. What i will confirm us at the Russian Intelligence Service is determined, clever, and i recommend that every campaign and every election official take this very seriously as we move into this novembers election and as we move into preparation for the 2018 election. Im going to ask the vice chairman to cover the other areas that we are in the process of completing. Thank you. I want to say that again, i am very proud of this committee and i am proud of the way the committee has acted. I am proud of the staff and the enormous amount of work they have done. I know the chairman and i see many of you daily in the hallways, and know that this feels like its taking a long time. It is taking a long time. But getting it right and getting all the facts is what we owe the American People. And as weve seen for example, stories that emerged in the late summer around mr. Trump, jr. ,s meeting were possibilities of a trump tower of moscow. The chairman and i would love to find ways to close things down but we also still see strains and threads that we need to continue to pursue. I wanted touch on two subjects. The first is echoing what richard has already said. The russian active measures efforts did not end on election day 2016. They were not only geared at the United States of america. We have seen russian active measures take place in france, we have seen concerns raised in the netherlands, we have seen concerns raised in germany. And we need to be on guard. It is one of those things that is particularly troubling to both of us is the fact that its become evident that 21 states Electoral Systems were not all penetrated. It was at least trying to open the door and these 21 states. It has been very disappointing to me and i believe the chairman as well that it took 11 months for the department of Homeland Security to reveal those 21 states. Still dont know why exactly last friday was the day they chose to reveal that informatio information, but still believe there needs to be a more aggressive government approach in terms of protecting our electoral system. Remember, to make a change in an International Election doesnt require penetration in the 50 states arguably. States like the chairman than mine, you can pick two or three states in two or three jurisdictions and altering election. I believe in a state like mine where in virginia and new jersey and 34 days, we have elections. I am glad to see the dhs has said they are going to up their game and particularly help the states with elections that are happening this year, but we need to make sure that there is a organized whole government approach pretty i know in virginia for example even before we discovered we were one of the 21 states, the state electoral board in an abundance of caution decertified one set of machines that were touchscreens that didnt have a paper ballot or paper trail to this. One of the things we wanted to emphasize with this briefing is that this is an ongoing concern and if states dont proactively move forward very shortly, we will be getting into primary seasons early on in 2018. This is an ongoing challenge. Again, i point out even after last week, wisconsin, texas, and california still have some lack of clarity about what the appropriate individuals were notified. I also want to raise an issue at the chairman and i have been working jointly on as well, and that is the russians use of social media platforms. Social media platforms that increasingly the vast majority of us turned to for information, for news in a way that is very different. If you look, for example, in the round of political advertising, we have seen in over 700 increase in the use of digital political advertising between 2012 and 2016. The expectation is that may double or triple again in terms of the next election cycle because of the ability to target voters. I was concerned at first that some of the social media platforms did not take this threat seriously enough. I believe they are recognizing that threat now. They have provided us with information we think its important that the three companies that weve invited, google, twitter, and facebook will appear in a public hearing so that americans can again here both about how we are going to protect three areas. One, making sure that if you see an ad that appears in a social media site and americans can no the source of that ad was generated by foreign entities. Two, to make sure that if you see a story that is trending and becoming more popular, whether that trending is because a series of americans are liking that story or that page generated by real individuals or generated by bots or in some cases, it may be false identity falsely identified attempts. For example, facebook has indicated between 30,000, 30 and 50,000 such accounts were taken down in france because due to russian interference. And third, just the notion that both of us have been in politics a long time. If you have somebody running an ad for you or against you, you ought to be able to be able to go down and take at least a look at that content the same way that if ads are running for or against you on tv, radio, or newsprint, you can at least get a look at that content. This is an ongoing process that we are seeing increasing levels of cooperation and with that, i will turn it back over to chairman for questions. Many of you have asked us are going to release the facebook ads . We dont release documents provided to our committee. Let me say it again. The Senate Intelligence committee does not release documents provided by witnesses, companies, however, whatever the classification. It is not a practice that we are going to get into. Clearly, if any of the social media platforms would like to do that, we are fine with them doing it because weve already got scheduled an open hearing because we believe the American People deserve to hear firsthand. And just to remind people on october the 25th, well have another open hearing with michael . On november 1st, we have invited the social Media Companies that mark mentioned to be our guest at an open hearing, and we feel confident that they will take us up on it. As it relates to the dossier. Unfortunately, the committee has hit a wall. We have on several occasions made attempts to contact mr. Steele, to meet with mr. Steele, to include personally the vice chairman and myself as to individuals making that connection. Those offers have gone on accepted. The committee cannot really decide the credibility of the dossier without understanding things like who paid for it . Who are your sources and sub sources . We are investigating a very expensive Russian Network of interference in u. S. Elections. And though we have been incredibly enlightened and our ability to rebuild backwards the steel dossier up to a certain date, getting past that point has been somewhat impossible. When i say this because i dont think we are going to any intelligence products that unlock that key to prejune of 2016. My hope is that mr. Steele will make a decision to meet with either mark and i or the committee or both so that we can hear his side of it versus for us to depict our findings, what his intent and what his actions were. And i say that to you, but i also say it to chris steel. Potential witnesses that we might ask to come in the future i strongly suggest that you come in and speak with us. If we believe that you have something valuable to bring to the committee, if you dont voluntarily do it, i will assure you today, you will be compelled to do it. I can compel you to come. I cant compel you to talk. But that will be done in the very public way if, in fact, to turn down the private offer. The committee has proven to be balanced, professional, and willing to listen to everybody. Let me say in closing for those following our investigation and the press, i want you to know that you only see glimpses of the amount of work the committee has done. We are doing much of our work behind closed doors to ensure the privacy and the protection of witnesses and sensitive sources and methods. It is become increasingly clear that the committee has stayed focused on building the foundation to be able to finish our investigation thoroughly and in an accountable way. I am confident today that when we started, we chose wisely by choosing our professional staff to do this investigation and not to the talking heads all around the country that suggested we couldnt do this unless we went out and hired a whole new group. And i think the numbers here reflect that. Ultimately, we look forward to completing our work. And presenting our findings to the public. I cant set a date as to when that will be. Mark cant set a date as to when that will be. We will share with you when we have exhausted every thread of intelligence, every potential witness that can contribute anything to this. I dont by any stretch of the imagination tell you that theres no value to anybody weve met with. But if we hadnt met with them, then you wouldve questioned us as to why we didnt. And the truth is, nobody in this room and mark and i am might be included in it, nobody in this room i know anybody weve met with. We are not going to share who we interview. We are not going to share what we ask and we are not going to share what they tell us. We are not quite sure the documents that we got, but when you receive 100,000 documents plus, a large group of that coming from the trunk campaign alone, when you look at this countrys most sensitive intelligence products, let me assure you, we are going to get the best view that anybody could possibly get paid at the end of this process, we will be sure that we present to the American People are finding this as best we have been able to cumulate them. With that, ill be happy to open up for questions. Sandra you been watching an update from the Senate Intelligence committee. Russian meddling in the u. S. 2016 president ial election. The update there was that the staff had been working six or seven days a week tirelessly since january 23rd. We hope to come to a conclusion meeting they have not saying we are not there yet. The inquiry has expanded. They both noted, 100 interviews, 250 hours later, 25 more interview set up. They address the comey memos and call them hotly debated and hope to have reached some sort of conclusion on that. They have exhausted every person we can talk to peter the committee continues to look at all the evidence involved. Vice chair mark warner wade and say we want to get it right. We want to get all the facts. Russians tried to meddle in 21 state elections. That is the latest update coming from the sun Intelligence Committee hearing from mark warner and richard burr. On the side of the screen, you will notice a live shot on the ground in las vegas. President trump has arrived along with the first lady. We have been awaiting his arrival. He is there along with the first lady to meet with patients, medical professionals, civilian heroes, First Responders, all after that horrific, horrific attack happening on the las vegas strip. Sunday night, we all woke up to the news on monday morning that president said he would be their pit he is. He has just landed. We are waiting for him to step off of that plane. We do know that he is on the plane right now accompanied by House Majority leader mitch mccarthy. As well as dean heller of nevada with the president on air force one. When he gets on the ground, he will be greeted by the governor, the sheriff, and the mayor as well as three members from d. C. Also on the plane with the president right now, members of his team stephen miller, tom bossert, hope hicks, joyce meyer from legislative affairs. The president is arriving on the ground in las vegas and the very muchneeded moment for this country after we have witnessed the largest mass shooting in modern american history. The president could be there to offer a very common voice. We are going to stop for a moment and pause to let in our fox station. This is fox News Coverage of the president s trip to las vegas after the worst mass shooting in u. S. History. Left 59 people dead, including the shooter. And more than 500 injured. The president is expected to step off of air force one at any moment accompanied by the first lady melania trump. Members of his cabinet also present on the plane right there. The chair who has been an integral part of leading the investigation and providing updates from the ground in las vegas will be there to greet him as he stepped off the plane as well as the mayor of las vegas and the governor of the state will be there to greet him as well. The president is expected to not address politics. As we know in the wake of this, the gun debate has been raging on capitol hill. We have heard both parties attacking that very important issue. President said he does not want this visit to be about politics. He wants to meet with the civilian heroes, the First Responders that were so essential in protecting and saving lives in that moment. Nine to 11 minutes that shooter went on a rampage and took those 58 innocent lives, so many more hundreds of people are still in Las Vegas Area hospitals fighting for their lives at this very moment. The president and first lady do intend to visit with those patients as well as those medical professionals. The president could offer a very warm and calm voice at a time when it is so needed. Harris he is also going to elevate, if you will, the work of the people on the ground. We note that we have heard so many stories of his fantastic First Responders, but also the former military members who were doing just the battlefield like lifesaving techniques on american citizens. They stood shoulder to shoulder at that Country Music festival concert. He is going to elevate the spirit of gratitude that the whole nation has to them, stepping up and forming triage is when some of these civilians didnt even have the knowledge on how business related to it but they were effective in helping ambulances and others to get to transport people to hospitals. He is going to be meeting, as you said, with people in the medical field and also people who are patients, many of them with lifechanging injuries. This is a different situation where its like a battlefield. It is a different situation where youve got a recovery timeline and some of these people dont even have that yet. It got so many surgeries coming up in their lives have been changed forever. Theyve gotten damage, they got unimaginable injuries another president of the United States and the first lady lonnie trump coming down the stairs. Also important to point out this president s agenda. He just got done flying down to the devastation in puerto rico along with melania. Obviously a difficult seem to witness there. Going from puerto rico to las vegas to meet with those who were so severely affected by this absolutely horrific, awful event that occurred on sunday evening on the las vegas strip, meeting with the mayor, the governor, the sheriff on the ground there. This sheriff, speaking with judge Andrew Napolitano earlier who said hats off to this sheriff giving us an absolutely terrific job handling this investigation. To quote that sheriff, there are things that you asked me if i know that i say i dont while i may know and have an answer for you. We are in the middle of a very serious ongoing long investigation there are things i have to keep to myself to make this investigation happen in the exact improper way that it should. Harris you got there to the left, you have the mayor, he sheriff. He saw the governor off to the right of that picture now, stepped out of frame. Youre talking about what those local officials have had to do on the ground to shore up their community to get through what turned out to be a bloodbath on the 10 00 hour. It hasnt been all that many days. The president as you said left puerto rico yesterday. He has a lot of consoling to do as commander in chief and this is the second stage of that and just weeks as he meets with these dignitaries that have had a crime scene so large it held 22,000 people at one point, a crime scene so large it spanned 32 stories into this guy but it was a mad man bullets raining down. I see tears in your eyes. This is tough. Guy its hard for me to imagine being one of the Law Enforcement officials whose job it is to focus on the granular horrifying details every moment of every day. We can step away from this worry when we need to and we need to sometimes because the details are so devastating they cant. That their entire job and you mentioned the president , the story isnt about the president. But his itinerary going from puerto rico were peoples lives are shattered and homes were destroyed to las vegas were peoples lives were stolen and loved ones were murdered and people have to learn how to walk again if they ever will, going from point a to point b and seeing that human toll, that has to take a toll on him. Sandra he praised the First Responders down there. Katie pavlich, its unbelievable to think about those First Responders who got that call. And within minutes of this madman firing from the 30 secondfloor of that hotel down to 22,000 concertgoers, the minutes, mere minutes that went by that those First Responders made it to the 32nd floor to that man is unbelievable to think about those people that just blew in the face of danger. Katie theres no other way to describe them except for as heroes. Thats what they are. The Las Vegas Police Department List video today were one of the Police Officers is telling a woman to get under him because he has a bulletproof vest on. While there are bullets being rained down on them. Today, with the president and the first lady there, the other person who seen all these things as well as someone who is not in politics or hasnt been as the first lady, melania trump. She has also been by the president s side to go and fulfill her obligations as the first lady. I think she has done it with grace, courage, and i think she is probably saying a lot of things, having a lot of feelings about how she is handling this, and she is doing a phenomenal job and plays a different role than he will today and has throughout the process of what weve seen. Harris use on extended amount of time that President Trump just spent with mayor Carolyn Goodman and sheriff joseph lombard. His been known to do this when he touches down. We saw this in the aftermath of harvey in houston, texas, the aftermath of Hurricane Irma and florida. Hell spend the first face time with those people who have been dealing with not only handling the investigation, but being the on the ground console or an chief themselves. The president comes in he helps step the load of those response abilities. You see him there in that circle spending some extra time making sure that they feel his presence there. Im going to carry some of that burden. Thats his job today. Marie thats right. And harris, you spoke so movingly about the physical wounds that are still being treated, some will take years to heal, some never will. We need to focus as much on the mental toll this is taking on everyone that was there on each of the 58 families that lost loved ones. This is going to be summoned that these people will never forget. Once some of those physicals wounds are healed, it will take years and decades, and some people will never fully heal in terms of the mental issues that come up when you witness Something Like this. The ptsd this is real. After the president leaves, this is the First Step Towards some of that healing that these folks and las vegas are going to be dealing with for a very, very long time. Katie the president , when he takes that extra time to speak to Law Enforcement officials on the ground to ask about and the details on the logistics of the response of whats happening, he has a special respect for people who are in charge. He understands that making decisions in times like these when there is pressure coming from all different angles when youre dealing with people who havent lost their lives and how to move them forward, how to handle the grief their families are going through, he has a respect for that on another level that he can really connect to those leaders who are in charge who are having difficulties themselves dealing with a in a personal way. Guy by the way, we saw the beginning of the day, the white house declaring a pause on politics and watching those scenes just moments ago and those officials greeting the president , it underscores that is the right decision for this moment. Sandra you were looking live at air force one just touching down in las vegas. The president , the first lady, the motorcade just departing. Please stay tuned to Fox News Channel and this fox station for continuing coverage of this story. I am sandra smith in new york. We just on the president and first lady touchdown in lost mega spread. The motorcade departing along with the mayor, the governor, and members of the president s team among others. They are going, we are told, the visit with patients and medical professionals. A civilian heroes and First Responders. The white house says the president does not want this moment to be about politics. He wants it to be about them. The victims, their families, the city of las vegas, very important moment and to think, just a short time ago what a horrific act played out in that city. A common voice is needed on the ground there. Marie absolutely. Im struck by how beautiful this guy is today in las vegas. You see air force one landed, this is the place all of us have been in. This is a place of happiness and fun and joy and that was all shattered on sunday night. I think the president is their bread im glad the first lady is there. Katie was right to bring up her particular role in all of this. I think folks on the ground will get some comfort today, and the real heroes are going to be the people every day working to rebuild some of these lives. Some lives will never be rebuil rebuilt. Some will, and i think if there is one place in the country that can come together and be tough and be strong, its there. I think youll hear some of that spirit today as well. Katie and hopefully hear some of the stories. Sandra the thing is, there are some jobs you can prepare for. There are scenarios that Law Enforcement go through, preparing for mass casualty events. When Something Like this happens, everyone involved who is trying to clean up afterwards and pick up the pieces, there is no preparation for that. People have to make decisions while theyre there on the ground. They are difficult decisions to make. I think the president being there today will boast of their confidence that they were doing the right thing and eventually going to have to move on in the community in a direction that allows them to have their city back and not let this one person take away the joy that they feel when they are in a place like that. Guy i think thats true political thinkers as well like the president. You cannot prepare for moments like this. When youre out there on the campaign trail and having rallies and attacking your opponent and debating, thats all great and is part of our process, its days like today that no president , no person can really know what that feels like until they are in it. Its going to be very difficult for everyone on the plane who just arrived. Sandra the president and the first lady have just arrived and they are on the ground there just departing air force one in route to go visit some of those that have been badly wounded in that attack at the local hospitals and a small meeting with medical professionals that have helped so much. Thanks to guy benson for being here today. Good to have you. We are back on tv at noon eastern time tomorrow. Outnumbered overtime with harris starts now. Harris we continue to see President Trump meet with the victims, the president is calling it a fake news. This is a outnumbered overtime, im harris faulkner. It made for an extraordinary moment while President Trump was still aboard air force one in the air. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson held a News Conference a short time ago to deny an nbc news report saying he was on the verge of resigning the summer. Amid mounting policy disputes at the white house. Tillis and said he has never considered leaving and
