I think those that have said that there is collusion but we also concerned by his behavior, those unflattering things about the president in this. That is what they are running with, i think its a mistake for them not to apologize for the collision report that had been taken place. But really i think theres something for everybody in this. I think i always try to be objective. I am neutral, i am nonpartisan when it comes to analyzing the law. Every single one of the predictions i have made over the past two years has come true. I predicted for example this report would be very critical of the president. But would not find evidence of collusion, illegal collusion or obstruction of justice. I made probably a dozen predictions over the years. Every one of them has been true because im not smarter than anybody else, but i do not limit politics influence my legal analysis. I dont allow Wishful Thinking to substitute careful legal analysis. What happened as a result of that, is that for example, cnn which used to have me on all the time, anderson cooper, and others, as an analyst, they decided no, it is okay to have extreme trauma supporters, because people just use them as a stick figure exhibits. Everyone through the narrative what they didnt want was a centrist liberal that went against their narrative. You have said that essentially they ordered you band at each of these positions. Do you know that for a fact . I do know that for a fact. Ive been told that by several people within cnn. He told me the opposite when i met him in the elevator one day. But he promised us that donald trump would be out of office soon. And that his lawsuit would be the downfall of trump. And all of that, he was proved wrong on every occasion. I really think the networks need to be held accountable for their predictions. I would love to see on your show or other shows, systematically, showing with dependence on the network predicted and how they came true or not true so we can evaluate the credibility of various we have done some of that. Let me ask you, now that the report is out and you see many journalists saying that mueller made no recommendation but we see evidence of obstruction of justice. What do you make of the way the News Organizations are covering the report now and do think they are influenced by any political leadings . No doubt about that. The report itself you can find in it, anything you want. There is very critical information. In my introduction to show how mueller got the law completely wrong on obstruction of justice. And i lay out what that is. You cannot be charged with obstruction if you are the president and you simply exercise your Constitutional Authority to fire james comey or anyone else. I lay that out carefully and the press precedent for that is george h. W. Bush. Who the special prosecutor said he obstructed justice but he couldnt be charged with it. And then never mentioned the bush case in the Mueller Report. Mueller was in the bush and mistress, bill barr was in the bush ministration and they deliberately omit the bush case is a leading precedent which would preclude a president from being charged with obstruction. For simply exercising his Constitutional Authority. Allen, as a professor, what grade would you give the Mueller Investigation and what about your criticism that bob mueller being named special counsel, should have made a decision. Should have made the call on whether or not to indict obstruction of justice rather than essentially punting it to attorney general, bill barr. In my introduction i give grades. I give mueller and incomplete. He shouldve made the decision whether or not to charge with obstruction of justice. I think you be made the decision it would have to be that he couldnt charge for obstruction of justice because he kind of lays out the arguments. White could be possible. For example, if we have a general statute like obstruction, you cant apply it to the president under governing law unless congress intended it to apply to the president if this could impact on his ability to govern. He gets an incomplete on why he did not make the decision. Then he gets a c on the legal analysis of obstruction. And i gave him a b on the factual analysis. The factual analysis seems fairly careful but it should never have been released to the public. How do you distinguish what you really since the public with negative information and james comey being criticized for saying that Hillary Clinton was extremely careless. I have 30 seconds. And eventually, it was going to come down and the truth would be revealed. And now . Now it has been revealed and there is no collusion and it is like the media all of a sudden have disappeared the last two years from the collective memory as if collusion was never really a word anyone other than the president used and what matters is the new thing. On that point, your friend, a former colleague of fox, talks about this on cnn and she said, that this was now in operation and gas lighting. Your thoughts . I love the clip. I thought that she did a difficult thing. Which is to tell a really blunt truth on a network where think they have invested extremely heavily in this particular narrative. She jokingly said that she hoped everyone had leg day at the gym because carrying the goalpost so far was going to be heavy. And to use the term gas lighting which is often applied to donald trump and his defenders and sometimes, correctly, i think theres good twist of the knife because it is accurate. We all know what the media said for the last two years. Again, the tone of the coverage is almost hopeful. It seemed like there was an outcome that much of the media was rooting for. Yearning. A yearning for this. And expectation for it. Then it did not come. And its like memory it is more ambiguous and they are damaging details in the report about the president and his people lying and misleading and so on. Exactly. And you are right, there were disturbing things but im thinking the day after the report cameout, the Washington Post front cover had massive, massive coverage of the story , understandably.
