The secretary is testifying before the house ways and Means Committee on the challenge to obama care subsidies. It will fall on congress and the states to act if the Supreme Court rules against the law. And our White House Correspondent kevin has more. Reporter i can make it simple for everybody watching at home. No the white house does not have a back up plan in case the high court will rule against the subsidies that are for the ones on obama care. Republicans dont have a back up plan. No matter what you hear. Most of them didnt feel like it is necessary to begin with. Politically speaking is a Pressure Cooker and leaking out steam and that was apparent today on capitol hill. The critical decision will fit with the congress and states and governors to determine if those subsidies are available. This is the question. Will the president waive a one page bill and take it or the highway. Is that the administrations position or will the Administration Work with congress to find a way to give people more health care freedom. The marketplace is a market. The question is what will the administration do . The problem is in the Court Decides against us. They made a decision. You are not going to answer the question are you . You have to love representative ryan sticking right to the point. You will not answer because there is no answer and we heard in the Briefing Room that the white house doesnt have a back up plan. Because they believe it was wrong to bring it up to the high court. And the high court is expected to rule on the end of the month. Well get more on the briefing. For now, back to you. Bob, the president talked about obama care a lot, it is the law of the land for five years and why is she talking about it so much. What is his motivation here . He has big battle approximates on capitol hill on trade and budget and spent time talking about obama care. Does he know about the ruling that we all dont know . It has raised the questions of whether he knows maybe they are going to win or lose. And if they lose he will start his attack on the Supreme Court, he questioned why even the high court was taking the case . And the proponents of this lawsuit, thats what they are thinking, why did the Supreme Court take it other than they will rule with us . It should be released later this month. We presume the decision is in the bank. And secrecy in the high court is tighter than a drum and i suppose if anybody has a window on what the court will rule it would be the president of the united states. The irony here the republicans didnt give obama care a single vote and in fact were elected to control the senate and house largely because of the opposition to obama care and yet if it is shot down by the Supreme Court, it will be up to the republicans to replace it. It is a tricky position for the gop. I think i know what the obama plan b will be if they lose the court case. This is a short sentence fix and congress should pass it. And the Republican Led Congress in the house and senate will not go for that and thats where it gets tricky for republicans. These are benefits that people have gotten used to. And there is republicans, privately, they hope to lose the case and it could be such a political problem for them. And the wall street journal said the president is lecturing the Supreme Court members as if they were first year law studentsing; why is he doing that john . He did this on the initial obama care challenge. And when you lobby the court, generally speaking the justices dont like that. And this ruling is in the bag probably, and they have probably decided and there was a lot of speculation and we dont know the answer of Justice Roberts in whether he switched sides. And it is already decided and just a matter of time for them to release it. And the lobbying is not going to do anything and could back fire. This is what the president said in a message directed in the nine justices themselves. This should be an easy case. Frankly it shouldnt have been taken up. And you know since we are going to get a ruling pretty quick, it is important for us to go ahead and assume that the Supreme Court is going to do what most legal scholars that looked at this expect them to do. Probably shouldnt have been taken up. The former Law School Professor doesnt seem to know the form of government. The co equal branches of government. The president assumes he is win. And with the Supreme Court rulings betting money that obama would lose first time around. You never know what the court will do. They could do any version of striking subsidies down or give Congress Time or not giving Congress Time and it is incumbent on the congress to do something right away. It takes four justices to take up the case and they have taken up the case and we may be headed for a 5 4 decision. There are 6 Million People who are covered in the states that did not set up their own state exchanges and those 6 Million People could be left high and dry depending on what the Supreme Court rules. We already have satellite internet. Both directv and dish offer internet via satellite. The problem is its extremely slow and very very bad. They actually recommend dont use it unless you have no other option. This will be better. This is promising because these satellites will be much much lower. Will it be as good as a wire Line Connection like a cable modem . Probably not. When you have nothing if you are in an urban area it wouldnt impact you. But in a rural area of the world this could provide Internet Service where you havent had it . In the long term im sure musk is thinking he can compete directly with at t and verizon, anyone else who is giving you service, as they upgrade the viability of this and how it works.
