Perhaps senator Lindsey Graham has an announcement on the show about that. That will be great as we talk to him. The lead story today is disney. Thats right. A fox news alert, the happiest place on earth under fire after that 2yearold boy viciously attacked by an alligator and is found dead. There were no swimming signs there right along the seven seas lagoon, but the big question, why not a single warning about alligators . Okay, you cant swim, but did people know there were no alligators in there . Leonard has been switched from pulse nightclub to what happened at disney. So far is disney world getting hit hard right now, leland . Reporter it sure seems like it. There are a lot of alligators in this lagoon. In fact, disney has a Wildlife Management program to pull gators out of here all the time when they get larger than 4 feet. Evidently, they did not pull enough out to save this young man, lane graves, he was in his third trip down here to disney world when the gator grabbed him. To give you a sense of where he was, he was out near the grand Floridian Hotel. And there he was trying to watch a Fireworks Show with his family. The gator snatched him when he was wading in about one or two feet of water. And his father tried to fight off that alligator, sustained serious injuries during that fight with the gator. If you take a look closer at that beach, you will see there are no swimming signs. And those are the signs that lanes mother would have seen desperately running down the beach looking out in the black abyss for her son. Sadly, he would never come up. He was found 10 to 15 yards away from where he was grabbed, 6 feet or so of murky water. Sheriffs say they found an intact body. During their search they captured and euthanized five gators and now are trying to figure out if they got the right one. Were going to verify that we already captured that alligator through forensics work or will continue to look for an alligator until we find the right one. Well also continue to work with disney as they work to continue to address alligators in their park and continue that strong partnership. Reporter now the ceo of disney reportedly called the family to offer his condolences. Hes overseas right now opening a new disney theme park in china. Sun cops up here at disney world in 30 minutes. While there are no more searchers out in the lagoon, the beaches remain closed and it remains to be seen when the beaches will be opened in addition to the no swimming signs and the beware of gator signs that should have been there. Knowing what i know about being a parent of little kids, if people knew that there were gators in there, they wouldnt let their kids anywhere near it. People who arent familiar with the south and with alligators. Like this family from nebraska. If it says dont swim, i automatically assume theres a gator in the water. Ive been to florida many times and would say this, after 45 years nothing at all like this has happened before. So its not like last year there was a guy that was killed. Last year there was a guy killed swimming just north of orlando in orange city killed by a 12foot alligator swimming in the water. Before that, 2007 at disney . No. Im just talking about disney in the 45 years the park has been open. Absolutely. But i have a feeling things will change. They just need the signs up. The terror watch list and the no fly list, ill be talking to the nra about that and starting a real dialogue. I think a lot of people agree with me, but i really want to hear what they have to say. They have endorsed me, they are terrific people and love this country, i will tell you that, they love this country. Im a member and my sons are members. And my sons are members longstanding and are tremendous believers like i am. So i want to meet with the nra. We are going to be discussing it. A number of people have brought this to my attention. So theres donald trump saying hes going to sit down because as it turns out, donald trump and the nra are on the same page because the nra responded to mr. Trump by saying our position is no guns for terrorists period. Due process and right to selfdefense for lawabiding americans. He said were happy to meet with donald trump. Everyone would agree that no terrorists should have their hands on a gun. Everyone agrees with that. This one got a gun. Even though the l. A. Times spelled it out. This guy was on a terror watch list. Taken off the terror watch list. Because he had been on it, any time that particular guy was going to buy a gun, the fbi agent who was in charge of his case was to be notified. And apparently he was and i believe it sat on the fbis desk for five days, but nevertheless he got the gun. Something has to change. Im sorry, ainsley, if during the five days the gun couldnt be purchased until the fbi agent signed off on it, they got 6,000 open cases, i get it. But the fbi guy, just like everybody else, you have to wait for your license in the mail, wait for all these things but you dont want to profile. I know. The guy who sold him the gun did the right thing. Because he didnt sell it to him immediately. Heres the thing, there are already a ton of laws on the books that could have prevented this. Something happened and there will be an investigation to figure out who dropped the ball. But david clark, our friend from milwaukee, says, the sheriff, of course, he made it very clear, its not about guns. This is just a great big distraction from the true problem. The real issue here is that president obama has been an abject failure in terms of keeping people here in the homeland safe from terror. Hes incapable of doing that. And they dont want the discussion to be had, so they throw the issues at our card, they want us talking about whether gun control works or not, but the fact is president obama cannot keep us safe. A tragic update to the horrifying story we told you about yesterday. The body of a 2yearold boy found yesterday afternoon after being snatched by an alligator just along a disney beach. Wildlife officials already seized, i think, five alligators. And they have euthanized them. As we learned, there were no actual warning signs posted at the beach. There were no swimming signs but nothing about gators. Why are gators allow in the disney area and why wait for a tragedy to start pulling them out . Here to weigh in is wildlife expert grant cameron, good morning. Good morning, steve. As you look at what disney has done there along the lagoon there, which is a gigantic body of water, they did have no swimming signs but no signs, hey, there are gators in there. Do you think thats a problem . Yeah, i mean, no swimming is going to be very different than wading in a foot or two of water to begin with. And knowing there are alligators in there, it certainly wouldnt hurt to post it. I mean, at one time theres probably no telling how many alligators are in there, but knowing they are in there it wouldnt be a bad idea. Sure. One of the other problems we were just touching on is, ive been down there a number of times, one of the things people who know there are gators in there, they will feed them. And so theres kind of an odd relationship between the tourists and the gators. That is the biggest problem in this whole in this whole tragedy. An alligator by nature is very reclusive, shy, literally wants nothing to do with people outside of a mother alligator protecting a nest. Once you feed the animals, they are intelligent reptiles and figure out humans equal food and will approach at times. I have 6, 7 foot alligators with their mouth untaped that i could hand to you with no problem. The same alligator in the same area hungry will come flying up at you looking for food. Of course, this attack took place apparently about 10 feet out where it was only reportedly 6 inches deep. Nevertheless, it was at night. And i heard one of the correspondents in the orlando area yesterday say that at night he had heard that people refer to it, its almost like jurassic park, big stuff comes out at night. Yeah, these are animals that are apex predators. They predate the dinosaurs in their existence. They are very good at what they do. They are stealthy, they come up and grab things, even in very low water like that. And it just if it was an adult during the day, you know, it probably would not have happened at all. Grant, ultimately this thursday morning people are waking up saying, how do we make sure this never happens again . If you were going to offer some advice, what you would say . Well, the thing i can tell you about the nature of alligators is nothing was done, the likelihood of this happening is very, very low. This is just not a normal thing. This is why its become such a big news story. But certainly letting people know, as you pointed out, someone coming from nebraska, they dont know alligators and most people youre at disney world and fantasy land, not expecting the rules of nature apply and large carnivores can keep you. You are not going to be able to keep alligators out of the lake. But certainly to warn people to at least let them know, hey, there are potentially animals in here that can eat you, would be a good idea. We need to get rid of them, if youre giving people money what is the point of food stamps . How much are you talking about there . 600 billion just on that alone. And then we do need to talk about things that we have talked about on the simpson balls commission, what are we doing with tax expenditures and other expenditures . We are the only nation in the world that doesnt have a back tax, financial transaction tax. I think we need to look at other kinds of revenue. But we have to understand that technology, a tsunami of technological change is going to disrupt the job market. And we have to have stabilization of some sort. Andy, sounds great, everyone gets a thousand dollars, but why would you punish the people that get up every day that work really hard that have to pay into that when they cant afford it. They are trying to put food on the table for their kids. Its a lot of money. Heres the good news, it goes to everyone. It is like social security. Everyone 18 to 64 but you pay in if youre a hard worker, you pay in 3,000 and get 1,000 . No. This comes from a tax increase. You keep paying the same taxes, well just find other sources of revenue and cash out the welfare program. So you made your speech, there wasnt obamacare and now there is. So far we have seen this on the business section of the New York Times today. The cost of health care has risen 150 faster than inflation since 2009. And over in the business section, obamacare premiums are rising, not a little. And it goes on to expand on that. So we have already gotten a taste of universal health care of a nationalized pay into one system and it is not going well. I dont think we have a universal system, we have a patchwork system where some employers pay, some individuals pay, i dont think we really did the right thing. So you dont like obamacare . I like obamacare because 19 million americans have health care that didnt have that. But a lot of people went to medicare. That is true. Like we do in switzerland and france, the government plays a stronger role in the marketplace and then private insurance policy provides the actual care. Are you fundamentally fundamentally, are you worried about wiping out peoples ambition and initiative which could transform lives . I would say all the opposite. If you go to silicon valley, all those kids in the gradual are living on friends and family income. I and my friends are parental income. We help our kids when they get in trouble. Gun control itself is not the answer. Again, we have to have leaders who understand the threats of today and tomorrow. Lets talk about the Syrian Refugees that are coming into america. The Obama Administration has just sped up the number of refugees that theyre bringing in to this country. Just in the last five weeks there have been more in the last five weeks than the last seven months combined. You have been on the border, whats your opinion . Well, you know i have been on this show talking about this for a couple of times now. You know, and we talked about it last time. You have an industry that is incentivized to have more refugees. They lobby for more and they make money from it. You heard the fbi director say they cant vet the folks. I have been to war torn countries and theres a National Security concern there of course. The reality is we need to figure out whats causing the crisis itself and furthermore instead of for the cost of resettling run refugee over here, you can help 50 over there. Thats what we should be directing resources to, over there. And heres the thing, theyre doing it on the sly. Theyre jamming the stuff through when nobody is looking. Governor rick scott and others are asking can you tell me who the syrians are, and they dont get an answer from washington. Thats unacceptable. Its absolutely unacceptable. It puts americans at risk. I dont mean to be fear mongering, but it does. The reality is one of the reasons while sitting on this chair today is because washington is broken. We need a fresh start. Its not working for veterans and for businesses and you have you have an executive branch thats become too powerful. You need leaders in washington specifically in congress who have the backbone to stand up and make sure they rein in the executive branch and deal with the back door negotiations to be able to gain regain oversight. And scott, given the fact that youre worried about the people were letting in, how do you feel as a republican about Donald Trumps suggestion to take a pause from folks who are from some of these countries that are hot spots . Well, im not you know, listen, i dont agree with a ban on all muslims. I think that thats a little too much. But i do agree with a pause. Absolutely. Until you can figure out whats going on. You know, whos youre letting in. Like i said, im 100 opposed to expanding a program thats that surely has security holes in it. For sure. So im not opposed to pausing the program. Absolutely not. So if the family if the Graves Family does decide to take that to court, do they have a case . I believe they have a case. And it hinges on negligence. Theres a duty of care owed by the defendant to the plaintiff. To the person whos been damaged here. And there needs to be a breach of that duty meaning that they didnt comport with the duty they had and the duty is to maintain a reasonably safe environment for guests. Whats the program that they use to ensure that there were not alligators there, or they took out alligators of a certain size. Having an awareness and doing nothing and combined with the lack of the sign of alligators is a real problem. Finally, the father in rescuing his is only so desperately and valiantly, he was allegedly injured as well. So he and the family also have a claim with regard to the zone of danger. Watching and seeing their beautiful child taken in those seconds by this alligator. Never get over. Hopefully, disney does something about this real quick. The best thing they should do today is say, we made a mistake. We apologize. And that we put guests in the past at risk and were never going to do it again. I think a lot of people agree with me but i want to really hear what they have to say. They have endorsed me, theyre terrific people. They love this country, i will tell you that. Im a member, my sons are members. My sons are members long standing. They are tremendous believers like i am, so i want to meet with the nra. Were going to be discussing it. A number of people have brought this to my attention. I understand why we should be discussing it. So bill, the nra tweets out and says theyre happy to meet with trump, our position is no guns for terrorist, they say. Due process and right to selfdefense for lawabiding americans. Well, mateen was not arrested, did not have a record. So under florida law he was able to buy whatever he wanted to buy. Congress should debate a law that says, if you are on a federal watch list as a suspected terrorist, then some of your rights are suspended. Just by being on that list. Here are the rights that are suspended. Cant buy a gun, cant get on the plane, cant go to the deli and then pass the law so Everybody Knows. Theres got to be a clear way for instance, stephen hayes, the guy whos on special report he wound up on a no fly list. Always the problem isnt it . The bureaucracy is always going to theres got to be a way to stream line your due process. You dont want a middle level masses amount of people you have people on the list that shouldnt be on the list. And this is what i mean. Its a very complicated situation but the greater good should prevail. Heres the other thing, we have to look at the fbi. They do theyre overworked and we have less fbi agents now than we had in 2013 but and we need more. They have to come forward. Are they being asked to act politically correct, that the boston bombers passed their interview and so did the idiot in florida. I dont believe the fbi is at fault not so much at fault, but are they what they did with mateen, they did send in the undercovered and tried to coax him and say, yeah, im a jihadist and he didnt go for it, mateen didnt go for it. Once they process is through and they dont get anything from that, then they say okay, well, hes not a jihadist. Thats the process. So i dont think i think the fbi is doing what they should do. Look, for 15 years we have been protected pretty well here. And now with this isis thing, really escalating in propaganda see, bill, im going to challenge you on that because we know about these the russian brothers. They went over to russia and they said, this guy is a problem, keep an eye on him. Fbi talks to them, they were wrong. Even though there are 6,000 open investigations and they keep keepering theyre keeping us safe to a degree, and now we know that disney contacted the local authority, he was surveilling them, and he has thicker ties to the suicide bomber in syria, unable to close the loop. The fox news alert outrage over the horrific death of that little boy. Savagely snapped by an aggressive alligator at the happiest place on earth. Two completely different warning signs. Did disney looking at whether disney did enough to keep this family and other families safe. Reporter well, good morning, guys. Very clear that disney knew that there were alligators there in this lagoon. Disney now says theyre going to quote, thoroughly review their alligator warning signage all over walt disney world. Sadly though, that will be too late for lane graves and his family. They were visiting from elk horn, nebraska. They were out on a beach near the grand Floridian Hotel, near the seven seas lagoon. Its manmade, but very large. Disney knew there were alligators in it. You can see the specific signs there on that beach said no swimming. But despite the fact that there are more than a million alligators in the state of florida, there were no beware of gator signs. Someone coming from nebraska they dont know alligators and most people, you know, youre in disney world, youre in in fantasy land. You dont expect that large carnivores can eat you. So youre probably not able to keep alligators out of that lake, you know . Its going to be a very daunting task but certainly to warn people, to at least let them know, hey, there are potentially animals in here that can eat you would be a good idea. Reporter now, during the search for lanes body, they recovered five alligators. They killed them, theyre not sure if that is the alligator yet that killed lane. Disney had a policy of trying to remove any alligator over four feet long from the seven seas lagoon. So its unclear right now though whether theyre going to review that policy as well. Maybe bring that number down to two or three feet.
