As he just said, its real easy to fall into this trap and you have to treat it by the buddy system. When you are on the college campus, its very risky and could be quite deadly. I spoke to bob beckel at the play. He came to see it with me. Is he very famous for being a recovering alcoholic. He spreads this message everywhere. Is he not shy about it. Lets hear what he had to say. The real crisis going on is binge drinking where kids on College Campuses drink only on weekends and a lot of them die. The only thing people need to remember about this disease of alcoholism, it will kill you. Its not a benign disease. Its not something that you can laugh at or just another drunk in the gutter. It kills you. At the play there were a lot of College Students there. And they were talking about the play afterwards and the play is being funded by hazleton stomach wanted going on college tour. 45 tickets. Recovering alcoholics. Its really quite an experience there. You talked to the audience members after seeing this play. What was their response . The emotion was unbelievable, clayton, they were really connecting. You got it see it we looked at them anonymously. You will not see the faces in this clip. You got to see how its a mutual thing going on. You cannot cure alcoholism in isolation. Lets watch. Its like a blessing for me to be here and being a College Student like who thought i would enjoy sitting in a play watching you guys, i mean, no offense, but not like out drinking on a thursday night there is no place i would rather be. Like in the book it says its a disease. You need a cure. You did an amazing job showing what the cure is. Dr. Segal, it is a problem on College Campuses 2,000 deaths a year but not to mention the habits that it storms for alcoholics, you know, later in life. So what do you do as a kid in college when its the thing to do . Its cool. And when you get to a party they say where is your drink . There is programs called night watch. Trinity College Programs where people that are not drinking, kids that are not drinking go to kids that are drinking and try to get them to stop. Again, the buddy system. 600,000 injuries a year of College Students who get behind the wheel or drinking. The combination of drinking and trying to actually study doesnt work. With any kind of Software Solution you do your internal Alpha Testing and then you you need to have people outside the development team, organization actually try it out. So, of course. Thats a basic Software Development milestone. So here is congressman joe pitt. Lets listen to his question. Take a listen. 2,000. I dont have the exact number. What i can tell you is that the system became overwhelmed. So only 2,000, not millions the administration has claimed. So, if it crashed with only 2,000 users, is volume really the issue as the administration claims . Surely, the web site was designed to handle more than 2,000 users . 2,000 users, luke . My contention on the first day when i tried to use the site as a consumer was that there were problems with the system with just one user it democratic matter how many people you put on the system to decide whether it would work or not. As you add more people to the system, obviously that raises a whole different set of problems that could occur. But, yes, 2,000 is way too low. The way they designed it wasnt designed so that it would scale properly as you would add more people. They designed bottlenecks into the system because each contractor was doing their little thing but nobody was thinking about the whole process in total. Every time you had like an application rollout, right . There is all these new applications rolling out for ios 7. Many are scrapping all together and rewilledding it every pixel from the ground up for the operating system. Representative waxman asked if its necessary to scrap and start over and rebuild, listen. Do you believe its going to be necessary to scrap the entire healthcare. Gov system and start from scratch . I do not, sir. So now, you have got all these problems with put mel applications being sent in. We understand even the back end infrastructure a lot of Database Management stuff where a Senior Citizen sends in an application they are receiving double at the insurance company. They are receiving double applications. Children are being double registered there seems like actual problem with the infrastructure in code do. They need to scrap it. You know, i dont know where all the problems are, whether its the front end, whether its the back end, or whether its all of it given my experience, it doesnt look like the team that originally built this system were that skilled or experienced in Building Systems of this nature. So the challenge will be for the new team coming in to decide very quickly what can be salvaged and what needs to be thrown away. Okay. And in many cases, you just cant salvage bad work. Legacy code there that needs an overhaul. All right, you have got some solutions here. A Health Web Site that actually worked. Luke, you put together some ideas. Your first tip here is to request nonsubsidized quotes. Whats that mean . Thats a first step . Well, what you want to do is create a web site that processes people through this as quickly as possible. So, and to also understand the buying process. In general, people shop. They need to browse. Healthcare is a very complicated thing. The first thing to do would be to get people through it. Dont ask them anything personal in terms of Social Security number, birth date, things like that. Just ask them for the General Information that would be necessary to generate an unsubsidized quote. Basically like a geico web site. Go on there and compare and see whats out there. You say just a subsidy estimate. General estimate before you have to give personal information. Exactly. You can go to a bank web site and get a quote for a bank loan, mortgage or Something Like that. You dent put in your Social Security number, you can actually put in whatever your income is, the price of the property. All those things can be done and they will give you an estimate thats contingent on providing the same numbers when you actually apply. And then third and final, which is the actual application, which is what they are doing first. Now, you put it towards the end. Absolutely. You you know, only when you apply, once you decide which policy to get, would you provide any of that personal information to do it. The critical part is getting some sort of matrix that compares these policies so you know whats different between them. The president himself said its going to be just like amazon. Its not. When you go to amazon you can browse for shoes and dvds and then when you make the purchase that comes in the end you put in your credit card information. If they went in on monday and they repaired this ride, the restraint bars on this ride which it appears is what was the defect then they are seriously in trouble. He also bought thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of tickets to sporting events, which again has nothing to do with what a leadership pac is supposed to do. How do you explain that . I had to have a meeting an an nfl game . Right. Thats how they justify it. The larger problem is that unlike normal campaign committees, say the committee to elect john conyers that have strict requirements that you cannot use it for personal use, the fec has no restrictions on leadership pacs. You can wing it and decide what you want to spend your money on. Another example. Ander crenshaw out of florida. He used his leadership pac money to tour wine countries in napa valley, california. He took a couple defense contractor lobbyists with him i guess for good company. Investigating the grapes out there. Grace napolitano, democrat out of california. Very creative. She is done what 15 other members have done. She runs for congress in 1998. During that election she loans her campaign more than 100,000, charges her campaign 18 interest. She waits for 20 years before she pays off that loan so literally she was getting a guaranteed 18 return on investment every single year and netted hundreds of thousands of dollars that ended up in her own pocket. That again is completely legal. Youve got numerous members of congress doing that. Its ingenious and very frustrating and angering. Its no wonder we mistrust everybody down there. Can you explain a milker bill . A milker bill has nothing to do with the dairy industry. Thats the first thing. Udderly ridiculous. Right. A milker bill is introduced by a member of congress. They dont want the bill to pass. Its designed to milk Campaign Donations or lobbying contracts for friends and families because the company or the industry affected by the bill is scared to death this thing might pass.
