The president will be departing the white house at 10 40 this morning heading to atlanta. A good chance we may hear more from him about all of this. Fox news is told the president plans to fight the subpoena that was issued last week for his former White House Counsel Don Mcgahn to testify before the House Judiciary Committee scheduled for the 21st of may and the white house plans to fight any subpoenas that are issued for members of the president s staff to testify. This week the white House Counsels office directed carl klein, the former director of white house personnel security not to comply with a subpoena to a deposition yesterday. It is possible that the issue of the mcgahn subpoena could end up in court. Jerry nadler said our request covers the subjects described by mr. Mcgahn to the special counsel and described by special counsel mueller to the American Public in his report. As such the moment for the white house to assert some privilege to prevent this testimony from being heard has long since passed. There is legal precedent for mcgahn to testify. Back in 2008 a federal judge ruled that president bushs white House Counsel Harriet Meyers and his chief of staff josh bolton were not immune from subpoenas. But the president s position is look, mcgahn told everything he knows to mueller. Mueller put that in his report. There is nothing more for congress to find out about. I think what were worried about here, bill, is any time you get an official in front of a congressional hearing there is the matter at hand and then there is Everything Else outside of that. If she wants the entire Mueller Report to make its way into the public, lets have at it. I understood in the news that part of the redactions include her husband and monica lewinsky. That is a 20yearold episode but it is actually i understand through news accounts in part of the redacted portions of the Mueller Report of all things. She has some experience on impeachment because her husband actually was impeached by the house of representatives. He was impeached because he lied under oath in 1998 to investigators. There is a lot of work to do. Secretary wilkie is doing a good job. A lot of people cite the unemployment numbers with the v. A. Its misleading. Even with the vacancies the v. A. Has added 50,000 employees. They have a lot of vacancies because the v. A. And Congress Keep creating jobs they dont need or cant fill. For example, the washington, d. C. V. A. , i talked to the former director a if you months ago. On paper he had 500 vacancies. When he looked at them, he really only needed about 5 to 10 of those jobs. Is bigger than the active duty navy. This isnt a resource issue, it is a structural and policy issue.
