James clapper, john brennan and former nsa director admiral mike rogers. The committee invited james comey but he is not expected to attend. Bill peter, i know you dont have the documents there. Why is comey not there today . He is apparently has a prior commitment, bill. Anything too classified for comey to have put into his highly publicized book and any questions about anything that lawmakers may want to know that they couldnt read there will remain unanswered today at this closeddoor session where a Bipartisan Group of lawmakers are trying to dig into what the intel chiefs knew right after the election. They assessed russian activities and intentions in recent u. S. Elections and want to know about the research that went into that assessment and that is key because the still unverified socalled dirty dossier compiled by the former british spy Christopher Steele was apparently very important source material in putting together that assessment. Bill these intel chiefs, are they accused of doing something wrong here, peter . Not publicly this morning by anybody on the committee. However, republican senator rand paul is using a combination of publicly available info and private info to come up with questions for gina haspel, the current c. I. A. Director nominee that could shed light, if theyre answered, on the activities of one of todays witnesses, the former director of the c. I. A. , john brennan. Paul wrote to haspel this. Have you or anyone else at the c. I. A. Ever cooperated with any Foreign Intelligence Service to collect information on candidate trump on his travels outside of the United States in the preceding five years . Was candidate trump under any surveillance of interest to the c. I. A. During thinks previous visits to europe . Joining brennan today is going to be the former director of National IntelligenceJames Clapper and the former director of the nsa admiral mike rogers. We expect to see them any minute. Bill thank you. If washington leaks, this will be certainly a meeting where there are leaks. Another breaking news story developing this hour. The white house says it is still hopeful for a summit with north korea after pyongyang canceled the highlevel talks with their partner in south korea. Press secretary Sarah Sanders said this an hour ago saying she is still optimistic about this coming together. Were still hopeful the meeting will take place and well continue down that path. But at the same time we know these are weve been prepared they could be tough negotiations. The president is ready if the meeting takes place. If it doesnt well continue the maximum Pressure Campaign that has been ongoing. Bill the vagaries of dealing with this regime. Its on and off and a guessing game for kim. Maybe this is his own art of the deal. How do you read it now . Thats right. If you look at that the chinese were able to extract from President Trump in his public tweet on sunday about zte getting him to reverse a Commerce Department ruling from last month i think you see the North Koreans working closely with the chinese. Look at that and say boy, maybe it might be time for us to try to extract some concessions as well. There is no question that the United States was always intending to continue these exercises with the south koreans. That was something the south Korean Ambassador said when the proposed summit was first announced, there is no question here this is definitely the North Koreans trying to make a little trouble and put some public pressure on donald trump. Bill youre right. The military exercise on the schedule for some time. They do drills all the time. A major Sticking Point for the north. This is said to be one of the smaller drills they carry out. When you consider pompeo was there twice in a months time, this was no surprise, steve. It shouldnt have been much of a surprise. I thought the white house was too forward leading on its claims and optimism about the summit. You had the president last week in a sense am mri filing the suggestions that he could win the Nobel Peace Prize saying he expected a big success on the heels of the return of the three detainees that north korea had. I think its wiser to temper our optimism and point to 30 years of north korean duplicity and failed promises. Obtaining Nuclear Weapons was the core project of the regime for three decades. It is highly unlikely the North Koreans will simply decide to give up and walk away from that program that theyve sacrificed so much to obtain and have gotten and these facetoface negotiations with the United States. Bill they want to be recognized by the u. S. And a power and with regard to the u. S. Military in south korea do you think at some point if this summit happens, if these negotiations go forward, that he would demand the u. S. Military get out of the peninsula . Would we concede that . We know thats an objective. Weve had news reports that President Trump is open to this. That he had at one point pushed this privately with his advisors when james mattis was asked about this by a reporter covering the pentagon a couple weeks ago he said that would be something that would be addressed in the negotiations. I certainly for one hope its not something we would consider. Thats something the North Koreans have long wanted and would jeopardize the Korean Peninsula and change the face of the u. S. Positioning in the region if we even considered Something Like that. Bill it goes back and forth. In contrast the north says our country is neither libya or iraq that has met a miserable fade. Thank you steve hayes examining that on the breaking news. Thank you. The two candidates endorsed by President Trump pulled off victories in key Senate Primaries yesterday. Senator deb fischer cruising to the nomination seeking a second term in nebraska and congressman lou barletta claimed victory in pennsylvania. It sets him up for democratic incumbent bob casey in november. Eric sean is live for us in pennsylvania and he has more. Good morning. History was made in pennsylvania last night. Eight women won their nominations to congress on the democratic and republican line. That means they have a chance to break the male dominated, male only peninsula congressional delegation perhaps in november. We met one on monday. Mandolin dean running as a democrat for a district outside philadelphia. The big news is the senate race and it will be a doozy. Pit lou barletta against bob casey. Barletta is a feisty spirited selfmade businessman. He was the mayor and his tough stance of illegal immigration. President trump urged him to run for the seat. He said he will reach out to reagan democrats. A blue collar working class guy. Casey frequently votes with senator elizabeth warren. They said donald trump could not win in pennsylvania and pennsylvania sent donald trump to the white house. I was told i would never be mayor and i was mayor for three terms. They told me i would never beat a 26 year incumbent. Now they say ill never beat bob casey and we are going to beat bob casey. Casey is a threeterm incumbent one of President Trumps harshest critic and called on the president to resign because of the allegations of sexual misconduct. His Campaign Said it will be the choice between the candidate who made it his mission to protect Social Security, medicare and medicaid and a candidate who has spent years working to undermine, privatize or slash those programs. A choice between a candidate who stands up to President Trump when he is wrong and a candidate who believes President Trump can do no wrong. Right now casey has the edge. He has kept the connection to the working class, unlike a lot of other urban democrats. I also like to point out casey is from scranton. If youre from scranton you arent an urban democrat. Thats a working class town. Bottom line, i think the senator is going to be difficult to beat. This morning President Trump tweeted his congratulations to barletta calling him a friend and special guy. Barletta is now going to campaign only as lou. Back to you, heather. Bill like madonna. The contests give us a tidbit of information. We got a little indication yesterday and karl rove will size it up. How much of an impact President Trump will have. Heather gina haspel now on track to be confirmed as the next director of the c. I. A. This after she spoke out against the agencys use of enhanced interrogation on terror detainees in the wake of 9 11. That prompted three more Democratic Senators to back her nomination bringing the total up to five. The Senate Intelligence committee is expected to advance haspels nomination today and the full senate is expected to vote to confirm her by the end of the week. Bill another alert now. Senate Judiciary Committee releasing 2500 documents relating to the june 2016 meeting at trump tower that took place between Trump Campaign officials and a russian lawyer with apparent links to the kremlin. A Foreign Policy examiner tom rogan. What have you been able to summarize . A challenge to us in the News Business these documents were released just now but the basic premise here i think is what will we be looking at here . We have testimony from a number of individuals, a number of russians as well as the russian lawyer who was present at that meeting. So i think there will be two points here. On the president s side the people who support the president will be looking for things that say actually this meeting was taking place as the white house in relative good faith. It was a sitdown discussion about issues related to the campaign but it didnt involve collusion. On the other side, it will be an attempt to go through the documents, see what is redacted, see contradictions in what, for example, donald trump junior has said and what, for example, the russian lawyer has said. Bill does this potentially settle it or does it take us down another rat hole . I think it moves the process forward because it gives ammunition to ultimately it will be a net gain for the president. You suspect the Republicancontrolled SenateJudiciary Committee would not have released this at the present moment if it had a negative connotation to the president. What it will do is for him, give him an argument to say look, the Mueller Investigation has gone on too long. As he has been doing. Trying to move that into the political debate forum where he has more opportunity. Behind is scenes mueller has a lot of other stuff not in the files. Bill back up a moment. If youre part of the Intel Community or the former Intel Community, and you are inside this closeddoor hearing with Senate Leaders today, what in these documents would support the investigation that the russia matter should continue . Or is there something there . I think the most operative point is the presence of the lawyer. She was a thinly veiled cutout, intermediary for the Russian Intelligence Services and the kremlin and not simply for the Intelligence Services and that we know that the russians were trying to mess around with the u. S. Election. Her presence there doesnt necessarily indict the trump people who met with her but it does show a russian intelligence effort to create an effect in the American Democratic process. At that baseline the Mueller Investigation has merit to continue in my opinion. But of course a lot of people will disagree. Bill bill mears who covers the Supreme Court saying in the documents it shows trump junior went into that meeting in trump tower in 2016 with skepticism. The a. P. Is saying that trump junior he could not remember whether he talked about the russia matter with his father according to these transcripts released. Bob gold stone apparently made the initial outreach to trump junior. Does that name ring a bell for you . Yes, it does. He will have some issues down the road in terms of he is someone who has pinged up on the british deep state radar, lets say, before. And he effectively i think shares the same role as the russian lawyer as he is seen as a russian intermediary. Bill i know we put you on the spot. Get back to it and when there are more headlines. What do you have . Heather a red alert issued for hawaii. The new danger the big island is focused on. Experts say another eruption could be on the way. Bill a Marriage Proposal. Moments before you hear the kid saying i got to go. I think she said yes. Heather hopefully after all that. Bill well go somewhere else. Heather you tried to determine if something was staged or not. What do you think about that . Bill that wasnt my theory this time. I think the kid had to go. Heather okay. Clearly he had to go. We saw it. Bill yes, we did. To the happy family and the happy couple, congratulations. Heather a deadly explosion taking a completely different tone here. This is an Office Building in Southern California where it happened and apparently it may be intentional according to investigators. One woman killed and two injured tuesday afternoon. Investigators suspect the blast may have come from a package delivered to an office in the building. William la jeunesse is live from los angeles with more. What more do we know . We know it was not an accident. It was intentional. A bomb delivered in a package and it knocked this building off the foundation it was that powerful. One fatality, a woman im told. She was the intended target and police obtained a warrant last night to search the residence of a suspect who is a close acquaint answer. Three others were injured. Witnesses felt the blast more than a block away. My whole building shook and it felt like a bad earthquake or something fell on it. And scared to death. Jumped up, ran out. As large as this blast was there are 14 offices inside this building. A family doctor, chiropractor. Amazing there werent more victims. Heather very lucky there. Do we know how the bomb was delivered . We know the United StatesPostal Inspection Service says it was not delivered through the u. S. Mail. Ups, fedex or airborne police are not telling the media at this time. We dont believe it is not a serial bomber but still early in the investigation. Some thought a car hit tblg at first, then a gas line. Only when bomb techs arrived did they see a more focused explosion. The sheriff called in the fbi and atf. They cleared a Daycare Center across the street. Were thankful for the school but really nerve racking when you know the kids are safe. I cant imagine parents questioning whether their kid is safe in a situation like this. The Orange County sheriff confirmed moments ago a warrant was issued. They have not told us whether or not there has been an arrest. They will be looking for bombmaking materials at the residence, statements, motivations and that kind of thing as we go forward. Heather heather im glad you let people know this wasnt a serial bomber. Bill stunning report from fox news. Com finding that u. S. Weapons ended up in enemy hands during the obama years. One of our reporters spoke to the man who brokered the deal and handed the weapons over. Heather california leaders at the white house today meeting with President Trump about illegals, cracking down on sanctuary city laws. Our panel takes that up next. He is frustrated. Can you imagine here is the president of the United States saying i want to secure this country, americans Must Come First and congress is saying yeah, we dont have time. Were busy. We have to go on recess. So lionel, what does being able to trade 24 5 mean to you . Well, it means i can trade after the market closes. Its true. So all. Evening long. Ooh, so close. Yes, but also all. Night through its entirety. Come on, all. The time from sunset to sunrise. Right. But you can trade. From, from. From darkness to light. Youre not gonna say it are you . Bill another fox news alert. A stunning report revealing a lot more about how u. S. Military equipment and ammunition sent to syria during the Obama Administration ended up in the hands of al qaeda. Holly mckay speaking with this man who claims to have brokered the deal on his own. Says he gave al qaeda trucks and ammo in exchange for the branches protection while he and his soldiers traveled through syria. Its on our website right now. Check it out. President trump we are calling on congress to secure our borders, support our border agents, stop sanctuary cities, and shut down policies that release violent criminals back into our communities. We dont want it any longer. Weve had it. Enough is enough. Heather President Trump renewing his call for a crackdown on immigration today. That was yesterday actually ahead of a big meeting going on today with Top White House officials and local california leaders fighting the states socalled sanctuary laws. Lets bring in our panel. Brad blakeman, assist tonight to george w. Bush and Richard Fowler radio talk show host. Great to see you both here today. Brad, i will start with you. President says enough is enough. Do you agree . Absolutely. There is no higher duty that the congress has than to protect our borders, to defend our freedom. And the oath that they take is to preserve and protect the constitution. They are clearly not doing that. There should be no recess unless and until our borders north and south are secure to make sure that our country is free from terrorism, free from drugs and illegal aliens crossing our borders. The president is 100 correct. Heather richard. That makes sense. These local and state leaders and county leaders from california that are opposing this sb54 specifically where there is not so much or there is not they argue that the local state laws cant override the federal governments authority. What do you think . There are a couple of things. I agree with brad that Congress Needs to act. Thats where the United States constitution gives the power to congress has the ability to create these laws to determine what our immigration policy is. They should have passed Immigration Law along time ago and taken way too long. With that being said the fact that this white house is pointing its ire at state after state and city after city is it is misplaced. It belongs on capitol hill and not on the cities doing their jobs. The senate bill 54 that were talking about, the california values act, what it basically says is that a California Law enforcement officer is not allowed to check for somebodys paper or ask for citizenship status during a routine interaction with a Police Officer, you are walking on the police, a Police Officer stops you and says why are you walking down the street . They cant ask for immigration status. Thats okay and protected by our constitution and it is okay for the state to do that. If President Trump has the problem with our current immigration policy, instead of turning his ire at mayors and governors, turn his ires at his own Party Running the house and senate. Heather at the same time i heard one from san diego speaking earlier today on fox friends talking about the number of illegal criminals released from jails in that area. Said it was like 800 or something and 350 of them ice new nothing about because of the communication break down between officials. The ire that should be placed is on state and local officials who thumb their nose at federal law make it more dangerous for the citizens theyre charged to protect. Richard, in america we dont pick and choose the laws we obey. Were bound to follow every law. By sanctuary cities being placed in america it puts Law Enforcement in danger and citizens in danger. Were a union of 50 states. We hang together or hang separately. The laws for everyone are the same and need to be enforced and we arent asking them to do anything that they are not legally bound to do. But when you thumb your nose, when you thwart the law and protect illegals at the expense of american citizens, you know what we need to do . Start locking up state and local officials who break federal laws. Thats a very simplistic way to look at it. Its the right way. The wrong way. A simplistic way to look at a doctrine in this country. Federalism is clear there is a separation between what the federal governments rights and responsibilities and the states rights and responsibility. The state has the ability to control its Law Enforcement. Heather i want to ask you this question, though. We heard from the president there he was speaking at this Law Enforcement event yesterday where he had all of these families of Law Enforcement officers, Border Patrol agents, who had been killed in the line of duty. Their families there. Did you see that . I did see that and it is heart rending to see our Law Enforcement officers lose their lives. Once again this is about federalism and congress acting. Congress should have acted a long time ago. Weve been waiting for congress to act on comprehensive Immigration Reform for two decades now. States and municipalities are not above federal law. Thats not what im saying. The constitution says the states are responsible for their Law Enforcement officers and they have the right to determine what their Law Enforcement officers do. This is has been upheld in the courts over and over again. When they protect illegal they arent protecting illegals. What youre just filing is heather at the same time were talking about families and people and keeping residents safe and keeping our Law Enforcement officers safe as well. I think we have to wrap it up. I appreciate your input today. Well see what happens in the meeting with the president today. Bill you mentioned that yesterday. Todays meeting after President Trump paid tribute to officers. An officer was gunned down and her partner who was in the car with her is with us next hour. It was quite a moment that we watched yesterday from capitol hill. Heather it really was. The Border Patrol agent known as Roger Martinez and he was killed last november and it was really heart wrenching to see his family. Bill hour thoughts go out. Hawaii putting citizens on red alert. The volcano putting out ash rising 12,000 feet in the air and concerns it could become more explosive any day now. Were on the big island. How are things this morning . As you see Hawaii National guard is on stand by ready to respond. The volcano could be closer to a massive eruption. Fissures are developing here on the big island but ash is starting to emit from the volcanos summit traveling thousands of feet into the air. Geologists have issued its red aviation alert has plumes reach 12,000 feet. Ash fall as far as 18 miles away and there are Health Concerns regarding air quality. The ash coupled with high levels of sulfur dioxide and lava eruptions from locals worrying conditions could soon get worse. Were hearing stones might be flying this way, you see the plumes coming and ash covered all over the place. Trying to get things covered as much as possible and prepared as much as possible. As alarming as the images of plumes of ash might be the county of hawaii is urging the public not to panic. They say every day is different and pressure can go up and down. It wasnt the big one so to speak. Does that mean that we wont see a much bigger, more explosive event in no, not necessarily. It could plug up and we could get in the future have this socalled big one. That big one would involve a massive steam explosion from that volcano. If that were to happen and ash and lava could cover roads these blackhawk choppers would be crucial in rescuing anyone who is stranded. Bill were watching it from here. Thank you, jeff paul on the big island for that. As we have been discussing, we are digging through 2500 pages of these documents related to the surveillance meeting, the trump tower meeting of 2016. Some of the headlines were getting. Were learning donald trump junior told a Senate Committee he was skeptical about the meeting from the beginning. He also told that committee and the investigators he never told his father about the meeting. Two big headlines. More on that as we get it here. Heather we have breaking news on the confirmation of c. I. A. Director nominee gina haspel, senator thune is on deck with his reaction to that up next. Up to date on the release of these documents on the trump tower meeting from june of 2016. Here are some of the headlines that have been released. Trump junior saying he never told his father about the meeting in trump tower. He said he was not aware that fusion gps activities surrounding the campaign. He said he never talked about the initial july 8th statement that detailed the trump tower meeting with his father. He said he never talked with his father about the initial Rob Goldstone email that initiated the entire meeting back from june. Democrats in part have just put out a lengthy statement suggesting that this was all a coverup. Theyre trying to conceal the meeting with the russians and looking for information which means you can make your own decision on who you choose to believe at this time but clearly from one side the russia matter is not going away. For the other who like to bury this. Were looking for Senate Action to give us more direction coming up momentarily. A lot more to go through. 2500 pages takes a while to read. Senate Intel Committee a moment ago announcing it voted 105 in committee in support of gina haspel as the next director of the c. I. A. That nomination will go to the full senate expected to be confirmed this week. That nomination gained a lot of momentum. Five democrats come out and back her. John thune chairman of the Senate Republican conference. Good morning to you. 87 in that Committee Republicans and democrats. Clearly she cleared a major hurdle with a 105 vote. She really did. A tribute to just how impressive she was in her confirmation hearing and how qualified she is. This is somebody who has just tremendous experience and background, skill. She has been involved in leadership positions at the c. I. A. She has been in the field. She is widely respected not only within the agency but across the world and i think that its time we get that important position filled. It seems to me that democrats came to the conclusion that blocking her at this Critical National security position at a time when there is so much at stake around the world would be a big mistake. I think a few of them are starting to come around and break our way. So hopefully well get her confirmed this week. Bill you can throw a dart. Syria, iran, north korea. Matters pressing at the moment. Lindsey graham on iran first. Watch here. Very hard on iran. Theyll pay a price for dismembering the mideast. It was a bad deal and sanction the hell out of them and hope the europeans will help us not get in the way. The worst thing in the world would be a Nuclear Armed iran. Bill that was following the meeting yesterday on the hill. What was your takeaway on that . I came out of the meeting the president means business when it comes to dealing with thug regimes around the world, whether iran or north korea. The tactics he has employed with iran pulling out, imposing sanctions will have an effect. I think frankly it was a mistake to go into that deal in the first place when the sanctions were being so effective. We had our foot on their throat and we took it off and let them get all this money and resource which theyve used to create havoc in the region and get back to harmful behavior. It is important that we send that message and i think Lindsey Graham is right. I hope the europeans will work with us, not against us on this. There is a lot riding on insuring we keep iran from enquiring Nuclear Capability and rein in their bad behavior. Bill on the north korea matter it is in flux at the moment. Not sure what to believe or what not to believe. What can you tell us about that . I think right now kim jongun and probably the hard liners in his regime are trying to gain leverage as we go into the negotiation. This is a negotiation. We got a big win when the detainees were released. The president has been effective in terms of not only policy but the way he has approached north korea. The show of force exercises that theyre reacting to is something that weve been doing for a long time on the peninsula. And so them all of a sudden now resisting that strikes me, at least, as an attempt to influence the negotiations that are upcoming. Bottom line is we need to do everything we can to try and denuclearize the Korean Peninsula and bring north korea to the table. The president and his team so far have been very effective in doing that. Bill we heard in Sarah Sanders theyre optimistic the meeting will happen. Tell me about the meeting yesterday with the president. All the senators were in there. What was your takeaway . First off, the president was very upbeat and he did walk us around the world in terms of what is going on with regard to Foreign Policy which i think was especially useful. Gave us some insights into what their thinking is with respect to iran and north korea and other areas. But also focused on the economy, which is something that we think is really important here at home. The American People are benefiting from tax reform, regulatory reform, new Energy Policies that are starting to grow the economy. The economy is taking off. Unemployment at a 17year low. 6. 6 million job listing in the month of march, a record. Lots of good news in the economy. The president wants to continue to capitalize on that and work with us to keep it moving forward. A progrowth, projobs agenda. He laid that out yesterday and he was very in rare form and very upbeat. Bill my sense is on the republican side if you keep the economy strong and you keep north korea stable you have something to run on in six months and thats what conversations were centered around. Am i right on that . I think thats a powerful agenda. Bill well see what democrats have to say. Thank you, john thune, for that. Heather i know youre waiting for this, bill. Three days away from the Royal Wedding prince harry and Meghan Markle have announced who is in their bridal party. Well have changes coming to the roseanne revival. And i should have understood that, you know, you want the government to give everybody free healthcare because you are a goodhearted person who cant do simple math. I know why you gave mark a knife. Its your version of a boy. I didnt know there were that many versions. Were from yemen. Oh, thats not on the travel ban list. Yes, it is. Heather so say goodbye to some of those political laughs from the roseanne revival. Abc set to dial back all the political humor in season two of roseanne. The entertainment president saying that at the network. He said i think they are going to stay on the path that they were on that ended last season, away from politics and toward family. We talk a little bit more about this now. We mentioned that briefly this morning. The First Episode of the show made such a splash. It was chock full of political jokes. They had to establish the characters. Roseanne is a trump supporter. The rest of her family is not. They did talk about other things. I think that season two is going to be an extension of that because you dont want to just talk about only politics. There are other things that the show can expand to and keep in mind roseanne is a very political person in her personal life. Heather on twitter for sure. And she does have a lot of say in the direction the show goes. So i would predict that there are still going to be political jokes in the show. Maybe not as many. Heather theyre saying if it aint broke, dont fix it. Their ratings were huge. Thats right. Some conservatives are annoyed by the news wondering are they trying to change the show and hide the fact that she is a trump supporter. But you dont change the recipe to the pie after it won the blue ribbon at the fair. This was a smash hit for the network. If theyre smart, theyll keep it as is. Heather coming on the heels of the announcement that last man standing will be coming back. A lot of conservative viewers who have shows they could relate to and were excited. Abc has made some controversial changes. Last man standing was canceled despite it being the second highest rated comedy. Could they change it despite the success because maybe Network Executives dont feel the show is going the way they want it to . Well have to wait and see. I predicts there will be some politics next season. Heather last man standing picked up by fox. Bill so what is kim jongun up to now . Brandnew reaction after north korea threatens to walk away from next months summit between kim jongun and President Trump. The white house says theyre still hopeful. We have a lot to get through. A brandnew hour of americas newsroom. Sandra is en route to england. Heather i think a wedding that is going on. Bill she gave us a tea lesson yesterday. Heather im Heather Childress in for sandra. North korea objecting to joint military drills by the u. S. And south korea adding it has no interest in a onesided negotiation to give up its Nuclear Weapons. The white house standing firm, though, taking a wait and see approach. Were ready to meet. If it happens, thats great. If it doesnt, well see what happens. Were still hopeful the meeting will take place and well continue down that path. Weve been prepared that these could be tough negotiations. The president is ready if the meeting takes place. If it doesnt well continue the maximum Pressure Campaign thats been on going. Bill lets start with Leland Vitter at the state department. Are they going to cancel this summit or is the sense this is some sort of negotiating tactic . At least from the u. S. Side nobody is talking about canceling this summit. It appears that they are looking at this as a page out of the president s playbook really. The more you are willing to walk away from a deal, the more negotiating leverage you have. This is the statement from the North Koreans from their first vice foreign minister. We are no longer interested in a negotiation that will be all about driving us into a corner and making a onesided demand for us to give up our nukes and this would force us to reconsider whether we would accept the north korea u. S. Summit meeting. The secretary of state said this weekend that the United States is ready and willing to help the North Koreans anemic economy. The Sticking Point is what comes first . The nukes leaving north korea and the cash from the United States going in . What each side wants is obvious. Bill where is the Trump Administration . My grandfather said never treat pressure with pressure. They have long said that they want the nukes out and they want the North Koreans to make these concrete actions before there is any relief from the maximum Pressure Campaign. At the same time, though, they are following this approach of not really responding to the North Koreans harsh rhetoric with any tough rhetoric of their own. The president is the toughest negotiator around and he is prepared to go through this process. His team is prepared to go through this process. And this is not something that is out of the ordinary in these types of operations. Senior member of the president s Foreign Policy team used to tell the joke that you know the North Koreans are lying when their lips are moving. This isnt so much looked at perhaps as a lie as much as it is the art of the deal, bill. North korean style. And still they are planning for that sitdown in singapore on june 12th. Bill legal leland, thank you. Heather senate Judiciary CommitteeChuck Grassley today releasing 25,000 pages of documents from the closed door testimony, the meeting that happened in 2016 at trump tower. His panel interviewing several people who participated in that meeting including the president s oldest son, donald trump junior. Now weve been digging through them all hour. Allison barber has been doing that as well. What are you seeing . Were still going through all these at this point. So far its clear this is the most complete picture we have of this meeting to date. The president s son, donald trump junior began his testimony by saying i did not collude with any Foreign Government and do not know of anyone who did. He also said the president did not know about the june 2016 meeting with a russian lawyer. The big issue here is that meeting and the subsequent explanations of it. Initially he told the New York Times the meeting was primarily about russian adoptions not mentioning the fact he agreed to the meeting after being told in an email the person had information that might hurt Hillary Clintons campaign. Many called trump juniors statement misleading and then there were reports that President Trump actually dictated the statement. The committee asked if that was correct to which trump junior replied i dont know, i never spoke to my father about it. In his testimony he told the committee he agreed to the meeting after a publicist named Rob Goldstone told him someone had official documents and information that would incriminate clinton, her dealings with russia and the information would be useful to the campaign. He claims he was skeptical from the beginning but felt he should listen to what they had to say. Trump junior said he did not tell his father about the email. When asked why wouldnt you share it with your father given your response that you loved it especially later in the summer, trump junior replied because i wouldnt bring him anything thats unsubstantiated especially from a guy like rob before i knew what it was actually about myself. Heather donald trump junior not the only person at this meeting, right . Right. These are the six key players, three from the Trump Campaign were at the meeting, trump junior, Paul Manafort and jared kushner. According to the committee kushner and manafort declined to be interviewed in person by the committee. They submitted statements as did the russian lawyer. These people were interviewed by the committee. Another familiar name youll see in the group of pictures is Glenn Simpson. The firm behind the unverified trump dossier. Sources said simpson met with the russian lawyer before and after the meeting. He said he met with her the night before but didnt have any idea that she was going to meet with the Trump Campaign. He said he was stunned when he learned about the meeting. Heather Rob Goldstone was also in that meeting. Bill want to bring in bret baier for reaction on all this. You picked a good news today. Nice to see you. You are looking over the trump junior stuff and seen his reaction and see how democrats on the committee are reacting. One, he says he cant remember. Whether he discussed it with his father or not. Thats a key point. And some of the things that have been talked about and whether the president wrote or helped write this response to it all. I think the other thing thats interesting is this lawyer, this woman. She meets with Glenn Simpson before and after the trump tower meeting. Neither Glenn Simpson nor donald trump junior know that those meetings have happened. Now we know that she is essentially she said she is a russian agent of sorts with ties to the putin government. There is a lot more to know about the Glenn Simpson part of this relationship and where that all started. Bill listen, you run in these circles in washington, d. C. , no offense. Thats your home. This isnt the swamp yet. Is it beyond the ability to imagine or even realize that aspects of the federal government were possibly spying on a Political Campaign that was running a National Election . I think we dont know but we clearly have indications that lawmakers are looking at that. Based on the Glenn Simpson testimony, which his lawyer says he stands by, based on lawmakers saying there are a number of Different Things they cant answer about how the f. B. I. Acted in the early days, and i think there is going to be much more in this i. G. Report that is going to come out at some point that lays out what the government internally knows about how that bill thats Michael Horowitz doing his own investigation. He was supposed to testify two weeks ago but it has been delayed. Thats mustsee tv. We dont know what he is finding internally. Maybe nunes and gowdy and goodlatte are on to something after all they can make the case guys, this was Fishy Business in the end. I interviewed jim comey and i asked him a number of things the lawmakers say are not what he said to them. Just the fact that thats the case is just another element to this story about Michael Flynn, whether they thought he was lying or not. Comey told them both grassley and gowdy said it was clear that he didnt believe that his agents thought Michael Flynn was lying. Told me he doesnt know where that story came from. Bill Dianne Feinstein says they are hiding the truth. Thats the statement from democrats, too. On north korea do you think the president goes to singapore in june . I think thats where the white house is that theyll continue to move forward with planning here. I think leland might be right, this is negotiation setting the table for the possibilities. But we have a long way to go. North korea is unpredictable. Bill 105 vote for gina haspel moments ago. In a washington so divided that is a slam dunk. What was it about . Politics. She had a lot of support and it was tough to think she was going to go down. Bill your new book is called three days in moscow. I highly recommend it. Great timing and history, too. It will probably come up this hour. The president meeting with Top Republican lawmakers to press for legislative action on capitol hill. Representative pete king joins us now with more. Thank you for joining us, appreciate it. We just heard her say this should be an easy thing. Apparently it is not. We cant get the work done on it. Why . There is a lot of competing interests. You have Many Democrats lined up against us. On the republican side there are questions of how to address daca, how much funding should be put in for the border wall. How are sanctuary cities going to be addressed. It is not that easy. No reason why we cant get it done but we have to realize in the house we have the rely almost exclusively on republican votes to get it done. The senate has different issues. They have the issue with the filibuster. In the house its important we get everyone in the room and try to resolve honest differences. What emphasis there should be, how it should be done. No reason why we shouldnt be able to get it done. Heather the group of local, state and county leaders from california actually meeting with the president today to go over some of the immigration issues that they have. Actually not following the actually following the federal law and not following the law there in california. Right. Again the whole sanctuary city issue to me im against sanctuary cities. There is an issue that congressman donovan and i have with it. We dont want money cut off to the police in new york city if new york city is a sanctuary city. Other money should be cut. Otherwise you make a bad situation worse by putting constituents at risk by taking money away from the police. We think we are resolving that. Were in the room and why its important and being taken care of. Heather we heard Sarah Sanders earlier right before we got to you before the commercial break talking about how the president is willing to do something on daca. He just wants to secure the border. We were not able to get anything done on daca and we thought that everyone had come to an agreement with that. Yeah. Again, actually the president s offer on daca was much more generous than president obamas and democrats seemed to move somewhat on the border wall. Then the issues of chain migration and the lottery. Again, i have no doubt that if everyone is in the room and dealing honestly it can be done. We have to assume im talking about the house. What will happen in the senate is a different story because they have the filibuster over there. We can get it resolved in the house. No reason why we shouldnt and then because its you may have more democrats agreeable in the senate. Heather i want to ask you while we have time left some of the breaking news, the 2500 pages that have come down, documents of the trump tower meeting. What are your thoughts on that . It is just not developing. Don junior testified before the house committee. There was nothing there. He had no great desire to go into this meeting with goldstone. He said ill see you in a few months. He said no, im in the country now. How about if we meet . Goldstone was taking selfies of himself. If this was a secret russian operation you dont parade yourself like that. The meeting lasted 20 minutes. There is no evidence at all that anything of substance was discussed. They brought up the adoption issue. That was it. The meeting was over. A 20minute really nothing at all happened and so me this is the democrats trying to make something out of nothing. Heather it is interesting that you brought up goldstone taking selfies and that type of thing. We know from some of what he said he is alleging that he said to trump junior that this was a bad idea and that he did not tell then candidate donald trump about the meeting and was reluctant to set up the meeting. Well continue to read through it as it comes out. Thank you for joining us. Appreciate it. Thank you very much. Bill slammed all that in. 19 past. A leading democrat with a warning for his party for november. Former mayor willie brown says his fellow democrats need to lay off the trump bashing. So she is right now right there and she is looking down and so proud of you. She may have been lost that night but she saved a lot of lives in turn because of her memory and everything that transpired after the fact. She was an incredible person. She is missed by this family. That was very unexpected to be put on the spot by commanderinchief like that. Bill you are already with that, though, arent you . Yeah, do it all the time. Honestly when i walked away from the podium i didnt remember a word i said. I was praying i made a good statement and i did well by the department and by the family. Bill her mother seems so sweet. She is aces. That woman, i tell you, she holds the weight of all Law Enforcement all over the country an her shoulders. Thats how strong she is. Bill you said something to the president that got his attention and you gave him a coin as well. What was that all about . I gave the president a challenge coin that the men and women of the 46th precinct put together to sell to raise money to help the family and i was given one of the first presses of the coin. Ive carried the coin with me every day since i got it. And while he was up there i just had some sort of a compelled feeling to take it out of my pocket and present the president with it. Bill what did you tell him . I told him what i just said about what it was and what it represented. And i just wanted to give him a token of appreciation for the men and women of the nypd and especially the 46th precinct and to give him something to look at to remember her as well. Bill what did he say in return . What did he tell you privately . He just commented about what an amazing person she was and the things that he heard about her and he thanked me for my service and gave me an attaboy. It was kind of cool. Bill it seems like he has the back of Police Officers in america. Have you noticed that . What do you make of it . Yeah. I mean i definitely feel the love from the higher ups these days as far as supporting Law Enforcement all over the country and it is nice to have it come from the top. That means there is a trickledown effect. Nowhere higher for it to go. Bill you need that, dont you . Absolutely. We need it everywhere. Bill streets can be tough. How is her family doing . The family is doing well. The kids are doing awesome. Theyre in school. Janice will soon go back to college and finish getting her degree like her mother wanted. Mom is doing well. Bill please give them our best, okay, from us to them . Absolutely. Bill thank you. Vincent maher, you did well. Thats what im being told. I hope its true. Bill be proud. A dramatic dropoff to tell you about in protests today along the gaza, Israel Border after violent demonstrations left dozens of palestinians dead on monday. U. N. Ambassador nikki haley placing ultimate blame for that deadly violence on iran. The Common Thread in all of this is the destabilizing conduct of the iranian regime. They insist on promoting violence throughout the middle east. Those who suggest the gaza violence has anything to do with the location of the American Embassy are sorely mistaken. Rather, the violence comes from those who reject the existence of the state of israel in any location. Heather she explained iran backs hamas, a terrorist group that controls gaza and which has been inciting violence for years long before the u. S. Moved its embassy to jerusalem. Bill President Trump back in the winners last night. Congressman lou barletta w irning the nomination in nebraska and deb fischer advances. Karl rove is a former White House Deputy chief of staff under president bush. I know you have been all over the country. Ive been looking forward to talking to you about this. Washington post just yesterday is the headline. Trumps improved standing. Worried democrats and encouraged republican voters. You go inside the article. Driving their concerns are trumps Approval Rating which has ticked upward and high republican turnout in recent primaries suggesting the gop base remains energized. From that primary in ohio, more republicans voted than democrats. I know you know that. Frame this right now about where you think we are, karl. Well look, the key there is they said ticked upwards. Lets look at the president s job approval. Middecember 37. 1 in the real clear politics average. Early march 39. 8. Thats a tick. But by today its 43. 1. Thats a pretty significant jump. About a 15 improvement in the president s job Approval Rating between early december and today. Between then we have had the tax cut, weve had the decision on iran, weve had some progress on north korea. So the president is starting the look more president ial and benefiting as a result of that. Thats got to worry the democrats. Bill on that tripod you just mentioned if the economy stays healthy, if you can sell the tax reform and if you keep north korea stabilized, meaning maybe you have a summit, talks are ongoing. He is not firing off any more missiles. Thats what you sell in november, is that your summary . Yeah, i think so. Look, part of this is remember the firmament in both the house and senate. In the senate this is the best landscape for a party in power. The party that controls the white house since we began electing senators on a popular vote in 1914. 26 democrats up, 9 republicans. 10 democrats in states that trump carried. Five in states he carried by big double digits. Another one ohio that he carried by eight points. So the democrats have got problems there. Remember in the house most of these seats are held by an incumbent and incumbents tend to win. Of the 23 seats, 16 incumbents are running for reelection and as many as 13, 14 or 15 are those is likely to be reelected. Difficult for the democrats to win big in the house. Bill there seems to be less concern about the senate. Maybe they maintain control by a vote or two. I dont know if you agree or disagree. I know you have another board to show that. You look at the generic ballots. The swings are wild. Favors democrats by 13, by 5, draws even, goes back to 7. Thats the group of voters that determine this in november i believe. Look, thats why that generic ballot you have to watch it between now and november. Dont look just as one poll when it comes to generic ballot. Look at the average of recent polls. Underneath is bad news for the democrats. New poll out for pbs and npr. Would you definitely for or definitely vote against somebody in favor of impeaching President Trump . 42 of all likely voters said i would definitely vote for somebody who promised to impeach President Trump. 47 said i would definitely vote against that. 11 were in the middle. Democrats you would expect them are in favor of impeaching President Trump 7018. Republicans are 1084. The key is the election will be decided by independents. They mirror the National Average 42 of independent says i would vote for somebody who will impeach President Trump. 47 say no. Thats a real problem for democrats. You have Democratic Leaders saying stop the talk of impeachment. The former mayor of San Francisco said it wont be easy. You might need a 12step program. Check yourself in and stop doing the bashing of trump and focus on your issues. Last word on that. Thats right. Every time the democrats talk about impeaching trump is a moment they cant spend talking about an agenda that makes real sense to real people all across america. And it alien aits the independents. My hope is democrats turn a deaf ear to willie brown. He is one smart dude. I hope they dont listen to him. He has the right message for them and theyre on the wrong side. You saw it in the primaries. Omaha nominated the farout left wing democrat. That will make it much more difficult to win a redleaning strict in the middle of the country. Bill come on back. You have a lot more to say. See you soon. Thank you, karl. Heather i cant believe the midterms are in six months. Another primary though just days away in georgia with early voting already underway to replace governor nathan diehl who is term limited. State senator Michael Williams is in the running and stirring up controversy calling his deportation bus tour. Watch this . Hi, im Michael Williams and boy, do we have some exciting news for you. We have our bus tour ready to go. It wont be one of the pansy political bus tours. We have the deportation bus. Well implement my deportation plan that will fill this bus with illegals to send them back to where they came from. Heather Jonathan Serrie is joining us live from atlanta with more on this. Whats the response there . Hi, heather. Ads like that are the result of a crowded gop field. You have a total of five candidates trying to rally the social conservative base right now trying to rally them to the polls in this primary. Lieutenant governor leads the pack but he is taking nothing for granted. Not only when it comes to competition within his own party but also from the democrats. We have seen not only in georgia but weve also seen around the country where the democrat enthusiasm base is far greater and so its my job as well as i think the president s job to ensure that were giving a message that rallies people to the polls. If he fails to pass the 50 threshold he will face a runoff in july. The other republican candidates are vying for that allimportant number two spot including hunter hill and georgia secretary of state brian kemp. Two things if you are going to date one of my daughters, respect and a healthy appreciation for the second amendment, sir. Well get along just fine. Two candidates with the same first name are vying for the Democratic Party nomination. Stacy abrams and stacy evans share similar platforms but Different Campaign strategies. Abrams is running a door to dorcampaign and evans runs ads talking about her working class upbringing. In realization that many working class white voters had voted for donald trump there is a debate whether and how the Democratic Party should try to appeal to working class white voters. Analysts say the strategies that end up winning for both parties in this primary will inform the tone of the campaigns for president in 2020. Heather. Heather we had brian kemp. He showed his piece there as a spot on Fox Friends First earlier. He has gotten a positive response to his primary. Thank you very much, jonathan. A quick programming note to tell you about. Basically what he is saying is the americans abandoned him. This was the problem the obamaera train and equip program was a disaster. We got weapons but didnt help them form an army and win. This guy was abandoned and had to get through this territory. The big problem with the obama policy unless we want to send hundreds of thousands after americans to fight. We need sunnis on the ground to fight for us. We need to have a sunni partner on the ground. What the Obama Administration did was made all these people sign a pledge that they would only fight isis and not assad. Assad is the one using poison gas to kill their families and sending mortars to kill their children. They want to fight assad. Al qaeda said well let you fight assad. Tons of sunni have joined al qaeda because theyre the ones fighting the assad regime. We need to strip the people away from al qaeda to join us in against the fight against ayad and al qaeda and isis. Heather there was a second one timber sick more and the other instances we dont know about. The problem is the Obama Administration didnt want to get involved in syria at all. They didnt want to get involved in that fight. They didnt want to fight isis or do anything. So they got drawn in slowly because isis as it grew and grew obvious we had to take on the threat. They started doing terrorist acts around the world and we realized what happens in syria could spill into europe and the United States. We need to do a better job of training the people, not abandoning them. Heather i want to talk about north korea with you. Now this summit may not happen according to kim jongun. Yep. There is a possibility of what will happen. One of the possibilities is kim wants to get out of this thing because he has been cornered by President Trump. Kim trump surprised everybody by accepting the summit quickly. I dont think the regime was expecting it. If they cut a nuclear deal he wants like the iran deal. Lots of money and not a lot of inspections and trump just said we arent cutting deals like that anymore. Secretary pompeo said if you give up your Nuclear Weapons youll have pos parity like south korea. Kim goes to a summit and turns it down he is responsible for the misery of the north korean people. He might be trying to get out of it early rather than have to make that decision. Heather the possibility of internal discord as well. We ran out of time but thank you very much. We appreciate it. Bret larson morning anchor, check him out at 1 15. Data breach or abuse of information or i would actually call it an abuse of information. And also a good reminder all of us do this. We see these ill say stupid, stupid quizzes online. Which facts of life character are you . Answer these four questions. Are you natalie or tuti . Its always these dumb things. You end up giving them some piece of personal information and this latest problem for facebook with the three million users exposed in a great example of why you should really be careful about what information you are giving out. If you look online now with all these data breaches weve had, experian had the most massive with 100 plus million users. All of our information is out there. Your Social Security number and birth date and name is out there. Then you go online and take one of these quizzes might ask you thing whats the name of the high school you went to . What was the name of the Elementary School you went to . What was your first car called . Those are all the questions we get asked as security questions for a lot of these sites that well access. Bill your point is be aware. Be aware of what youre sharing. Bill on Cambridge Analytica show the hearing again. This was an app that went through facebook and they had an agreement with facebook and after the agreement expired they are supposed to delete the information and they didnt do that. How many hundreds of apps are out there . How many thousands of apps are out there . This goes back to the zuckerberg hearing that went through and deleted their information or did not delete their information. Thats a question i dont believe facebook has answered. Havent answered that question. My takeaway from that. We reached out to the company and they said they deleted the data. How do you know that . Data is easy. I can put a lot of data on my smartphone, tuck it in my pocket and walk out. You can see my pictures but you dont know i have 10 gigabytes of data hidden on my smartphone. Thats where we are with data. You dont really know if it was deleted or not. Bill my point is the apps that are created, they arent stealing anything. They are taking information that facebook allowed and didnt delete it later. I saw an interview with one of the app creators who said the rules say we cant do this and this but everybody is doing it and they arent enforcing it. This will be a problem for facebook Going Forward. They not only need to make sure when they say you have to delete this data or they say you cant have access to these things. They have to police that. There has to be a mechanism in place to prevent them from taking all this information and as this latest thing reminds us, as consumers we have to be savvy about what information we are willing to give away. Bill your point about your birthday, where you went to high school, who you dated. Thats all out there. A lot of junk out there thats not true. A lot of it is easily connected to us as people. So we have to be careful. Bill what did bob dylan say . I read it in the newspaper, it must be true. I read it in a people finder search. It must be accurate. Thanks, bill.
