Good to be with you. Servicemen and women who died serving our country and we kick off the unofficial start of summer. President trump overseas in japan where he met with leaders, took a job at tokyo for taking substantial advantage on trade and called on for japan to invest more. This deal we hope to remove barriers of the United States exports, reciprocity in our relationship and we are getting close. Its my sincere hope that the era between the United States and japan continue to grow deeper and stronger if thats possible. And less than a month from now President Trump will return to japan for the g20 summit where all eyes will be on the trade showdown between washington and bay gypping, chief White House Correspondent live in tokyo with more. Hi, john. A lot to talk about over the next month and week, mike, no question about that, you heard President Trump mention the ray wall era, back on may first, few weeks ago, japan with new emperor, new era as rawwa, beautiful harmony and beautiful harmony is what President Trump is hoping for when he holds his bipartisan lateral talks with the japanese Prime Minister shinzo abe on monday, trade will be at the center of that agenda, President Trump and the u. S. Trade representative lighthizer to try to reduce 50 billiondollar deficit that the United States has with japan on a yearly basis, last night right off of the flight, you see him descending the stairs from dc, the president went right into a meeting with Japanese Business leaders telling them that the United States is the best place in the world to invest and will be even better when the president and abe reach a new trade agreement. Listen here. As you know, the United States and japan are hard at work negotiating a bilateral trade agreement which will benefit both of our countries, i would say that japan has had a substantial edge for many, many years but thats okay, maybe thats why you like us so much. But we will get it a little more fair, i think we will do that. Theres also a lot of other topics that the two will be talking about including whats going on with china. The threat from iran, shinzo abe by the way will be going to iran in june and may act as intermediary for President Trump and potential for talks there, also be talking about north korea and what to do to try to get the talks to denuclearize north Korean Peninsula back on track. Yesterday in japan because he has been here for a few days ambassador john bolton, National Security adviser said that the recent launches of shortrange missiles from the east coast of north korea into the sea of japan is a clear violation of United Nations regulations. Now the president in contradiction and had the idea of playing good cop and bad copy as well. Bolton will say that north koreas violating and President Trump saying he has a Good Relationship with kim jong un and hopefully he will come to the table and resume talks, he will be getting up in about 5 hours time. He will be playing golf with shinzo abe, mike, you know as well as i do a lot of business gets done and later on the president will be going to sumo wrestling championships where he will give the president s trophy and then on tuesday japan time which will actually be monday in the United States, hes going to go out and have Memorial Day Service with the armed forces aboard the uss wasp. The president went to arlington on thursday, then he flies home. Little sleep from john roberts, many thanks, arthel. Arthel meanwhile back here at home, President Trump emigration policies suffering setback in court. Federal judge rule to go block the administrations plan to pay for parts of the border wall from the Defense Department budget saying that the funding requires congressional approval but this could be only the first step in a much longer legal drama. Jeff paul, live now with more. Hey, jeff. Arthel, substantially stopped the border wall project that according to ruling could have started as early as today, on behalf of sierra club, they are calling it a win for the system. Love that land, they went to court to assert their right to have our democracy and participated in the process and wanted rights preserved. The u. S. Judge saying he can you not use divert funds for other uses. Executive branch regarding initiatives it views as important. Its not a bug, feature of that system and essential one. Back in february when he initially declared national emergency, President Trump anticipated legal battle. We will have national emergency, we will possibly get a bad ruleing ruling, we will win in the supreme court. Arthel, live in dallas, jeff paul. Meanwhile the fallout from the special counsel mueller saga continues to give attorney general full authority to declassify materials related to origins of special counsels investigation, attorney general looking into the surveillance of Trump Campaign aides during 2016 election and now democrats are slamming the move, Garrett Tenney has more from washington. President trump is giving bill barr Broad Authority over highly Sensitive Information over russia probe, not only has the attorney general been given full access to Intelligence Community but authority to declassify any documents he finds during his review, President Trump descended decision on friday. Everything that they need is declassified and theyll be able to see how this hoax, how the hoax or witch hunt started and why it started. It was a an attempted coup or an attempted takedown of the president of the United States, it should never ever happen to anybody else. Top democrats who say they dont trust the attorney general are concerned that barr could des tort what to be place by selectively releasing information to the president. I see it as a very, very serious and outrageous move on the part of mr. Trump once again trampling upon authority and heads of independent intelligence agencies. And its unclear to me what mr. Barr actually is going to do, is he investigating a crime, well, whats the predication of that crime . The director of National Intelligence dan coats tried to ease some of the concerns on friday saying i am confidence that the attorney general work with ic in accordance with standards to protect highly sensitive classified information that have publicly released would put National Security at risk. House democrats are moving ahead with their own investigations of the president , though, including their efforts to have special Counsel Robert Mueller testify, late this week judiciary chairman mueller would like to appear but only behind closed doors, likely to pry to prevent hearing from becoming political and media spectacle. Garrett tenney, thank you. Arthel as garrett referenceed we want to take a moment to read full statement from dan coats, here it is, much like we have with other investigations and reviews the Intelligence Community will provide the department of justice all of the appropriate information for its review and intelligence activity related to russian interference and president ial election. Attorney general will work with Intelligence Community and in accordance with longestablished standards to protect highly sensitive classified information that if publicly released would put our National Security at risk. The ic will continue to faithfully execute its mission of providing timely apolitical intelligence to the president and policymakers. Lets bring in dr. Rebecca grant, security analyst, president of iris independent research, dr. Grant always good to have you. Good to be here. Dni coats will say Intelligence Community will provide appropriate info but wants to make sure that standards are shield today protect National Security, meanwhile you have president saying that he declassified everything and whatever barr needs for his probe, his probe he can gain access to that, so thus overwriting dni coats, do i have that right . Arthel, im so glad that you read that entire statement because that statement is dni coats saying, okay, we understand the tasking, we are going to comply, arthel, here is some really important background on attorney general barr, people have forgotten that he had worked for cia for 4 years as young man, i have no doubt that he understands enough to protect any sensitive ongoing operations, the fact is President Trump as president is the declassifier in chief and he is well within his authority to make the statements he had and assess the process in motion. As you well know, you have been following the politics, with that in mind i will ask this to you, how much wiggle room does attorney general barr have to manipulate or cherrypick intelligence to piece together further narrative to support the president s preferred view and perhaps paint a misleading portrait of why the russia probe started . Well, as i see, barr is really on a quest and that is to support the integrity of the department of justice, the fact is he has to find out if nothing bad or untoward went out there, we want to know that. If there has been what barr calls someone putting their thumb on the scale, and put all of this to rest. We cant go into 2020 with doubts about the doj and i think thats barrs number one priority and i think thats why trump is supporting it. Arthel do you have any doubts of what happened at the doj . We will have to see comes out. Any of us dont have access to those types of sources, i think barr obviously has questions and its the kind of thing again as i say if nothing went on we want to know, we want a clean finding f something did go on, then we want to put that into place as well. Lets remember too, this is not National Security, pentagon, military information how to make hypersonic weapons, we are not talking about that sort of declassification, itll be very specific, itll look very specifically at whether there were counterintelligence our surveillance operations going on and whether those were con conducted in accordance with standards, now, fbi director wray has said, we did everything right. Barr wants to be very clear and find that out and share that with the american public. I understand theres degree of separation when it comes to levels of classification but still once, does it make those want to declassify records whichever ones they are more vulnerable to russian operatives who we know, they are shopping u. S. Classified like they are strolling through walmart . Right, and we know that russia is not softening their evil cyber actions, we know that we still have to watch what they are doing both in terms of trying to break into our system and in their Worldwide Campaign not only in the u. S. But in other places to try to get their view of the world across. They are really, really bad, i think everyone involved in this arthel will be very careful to protect anything thats ongoing but lets remember the focus of this invesgation are events that took place in 2016, these are things that have already happened, we need to see if it was all done cleanly and correctly and so theres not a lot of risk in looking at that information as long as everyone is careful to protect our side and anything ongoing and i think they will do that. Arthel sure, you just mentioned how, i mean, we know that according to Intelligence Agency thats been proven that russia did interfere in the 2016 president ial election and theres no stopping them now. I mean, so in a way as is the president s focus misguided, should we be working to make sure russia stops right here and right now . Thats important and you know the administration has allocated 800 million, i think, its through Homeland Security to improve our Election Security with various improvements and systems and grants going out to the state thats an issue of improving Election Security, theres a separate issue about countering russias propaganda, bad actor, arthel as you know. Arthel sluely. Counter that, right, other issue that barr is looking into as to did everyone involved in those actions in 2016, did all of the guys on our side, did they follow procedures correctly, did we do anything wrong and i think barr wants to clear this up. Arthel right. I think he wants to find that there wasnt anything that was done wrong and if there was, my gosh, its about integrity of doj, he wants to find it out and fix it, thats his job as attorney general. Arthel absolutely, it would make sense too for the president to put thumb on the scale on the side of getting russia to stop interfering in our democratic process. I think the president has been tough on russia, ukraine, expansion of nato and hes made it clear to russia and to china and to others that we should push back and not interfere and corrupt the views of americans and try to interfere in the process. We know with the extra cybersecurity, we will secure elections ands ands with as mens be sensitive and not fall for anything that russia is selling. Arthel we will leave it there dr. Jefferson city is struggling dig out from under the rubble from wednesdays tornado, we have Fox Team Coverage meteorologist adam klotz tracking the dangerous weather, first matt finn who is on the ground in Jefferson City, matt. Arthel, just a few blocks from capital in Historic District and you could see the area took direct hit in tornado and white building, posed rooms and neighbors expect to collapse any moment and same situation here in this red brick building exposed rooms and walls, mayor here tells us the entire area was being revitalized with new road, trees and modern power, but now instead of more improvements workers are doing demolition and trying to save what can be salvaged and i also want to show you the mayor said that the power of the twister evident in old prison, 180 years old, basically considered a fortress but did not withstand the tornado. Oldest operating prison west of mississippi and thats one of the places they thought nothing is going to ever take that down and its over 180yearold history and sure enough part of prison wall came down. Here in Jefferson City on one side of the capital tornado damage on the other is flooding, we have a live look at the Missouri River thats reached levy here inching towards the capital building, 32 feet and rising, all of this flooding from here to oklahoma, we have some fresh video and the army corps of engineers tells fox news they are sandbagging, people are being asked to evacuate there, emergency officials telling people in arkansas if you dont see the water right now, it is coming and they are being asked to evacuate and unfortunately, arthel, this area has been battered by storms, we have been bringing you the images on fox news and more rain in forecast, arthel. Arthel very disturbing scene, matt, thanks so much for the update. Mike. Arthel Fox Team Coverage continues now with meteorologist adam klotz. Everything is running through the same location these are storm reports in the last 48 hours, theres a bit of a line here where we are looking at a front as well as just controlling winds that are forcing these storms moving across, again, the plains and then eventually over towards mid atlantic, these are the setup allowing it to happen, we will continue to see colder air back the system very warm hot air in the southeast bumping against each other and more big storms in the middle of the country, more flooding and possibly tornadoes, Severe Threat today and overnight hours tomorrow morning, you are getting same areas in northern texas, across oklahoma, stretching up into kansas but the real highlight there will be portions of north texas with this potential system, we dont see a whole lot of movement when we start looking into sunday severe forecast, looking across the plain states, north texas, stretching up into kansas and at least some threat of Severe Weather all the way to midwest, this has been the set up unfortunately for the last week, so isolated tornadoes, definitely heavy rain with this system and everything in front of it we are talking about a cooling of air that could be the hottest ever, these are recordbreaking temperatures across the southeast, fueling some of this back off towards the west. Mid 90s in lat anta all week long and average this time of year would be 81degrees, everywhere its way above on the temperatures, some of the hottest air theyve seen in a long time and thats fueling some of the showers. We will see more big showers and more big storms in the middle of the country, mike, storms will pop up in the next couple of days. Rough severe decision in the nations midsection. Arthel. Arthel mike and adam, getting exextremely personal between President Trump and Speaker Pelosi but will war of words derail legislative agenda and can Speaker Pelosi keep her caucus as she sends off the impeachment waves, Political Panel weighs in next whether you do well or not. Many reacting to growing calls for Congressional Democrats to start impeachment proceedings against President Trump. Laura ingle is here and shes tracking it all for us. Hi, arthel, many of the 23 democratic president ial candidates are out and about this weekend holding rallies, making Campaign Stops and working on getting poll numbers up and for some as you mentioned the call for impeachment investigation into pet President Trump is a focal point, at least 10 democrats in crowded field of contenders have been talking about impeachment from reasons ranging from congressional subpoenas, issue today members of his administration and obstruction of justice. Congressman who and on cavuto live today and vermont senator Bernie Sanders most recently making their argument. Congress has every right to subpoena and it is the job of the administration to attend the hearings that the congress is calling, if he doesnt understand that it may well be time for an impeachment inquiry to begin. We just agreed that hes breaking the law by not following the subpoenas, thats an impeachable offense. 8 of the 10 candidates on the road this week are visiting the critical first primary states, iowa and new hampshire, other notable stops this weekend including nevada, connecticut, vermont and indiana, now we are just one month out from the first democratic debate and we wont see all of these candidates on stage. The dnc has issued a particular set of rules for the debate which will require candidates show they have above 1 and 3 credible polls and 65,000 unique donors to qualify by june 13th, another key key component being held in miami, florida in 2 nights, not to call the kids table or the lower polling candidates will have the shot at taking the debate stage, they are not going to do that. All candidates who qualify will be randomly selected for one night of the debate night. Arthel. Arthel no kids table. No kids table. Arthel all right, laura, thank you. Thanks. Sure, thats possible. She made horrible statements, she knows they are not true, she said terrible things so i just responded in kind. I think nancy pelosi is not helping this country. Ic the democrats are obstructionists, we could pass so many different bills right now. President trump before leaving for japan on working with democrats to push through his agenda after he walked out on meeting with democrats to discuss infrastructure package, House Speaker nancy pelosi saying the president had temper tantrum and started when the speaker accused mr. Trump of engaging in a coverup earlier in the week, the president hitting back. Extremely calm, i was probably even more so in that room, so i walked into the cabinet room, you had the group crying chuck, crazy nancy, i tell you, ive been watching her and i have been watching her for long period of time, shes not the same person. Shes lost it. I pray for the president of the United States. I wish his family or his administration or his staff would have an intervention for the good of the country. With that lets bring the panel, gentlemen, great to have you. I think its been methodical and appropriate about the process. Theres 6 ongoing investigations, those investigations need to run course and conclude all the evidence that needs to be considered before decisions are made about impeachment or not, conversations of impeachment right now seem premature until all of the investigations have finished, the Trump Administration is stonewalling, turning over evidence for these investigations, lets figure out what it is that you are trying to cover up before we move any further down that course. We heard Speaker Pelosi use a new word, coverup which seemed to get under the president s skin but did not provide the proof, is that language, benjamin to apiece the most liberal members . I think it is, and if you look at the electorate you look at independent voters, they dont want impeachment, only 19 of independent voters believe that impeachment is correct. This type of rhetoric has pushed the democratic further and further to the left and really has shown that the gridlock in washington is a problem but its mostly rhetoric and pushing this idea that trump is impeachable at this point is turning off most americans from the Democratic Party and Speaker Pelosi. Impeachment proceedings as impact from others from swing districts which gave democrats the majority, is there a risk of democrats overreaching is is issac. I want to correct one point that coverup is unwarranted, lets remember that there are people that have gone to jail as part of coverup in the Trump Administration, tell those people serving prison sentences and other indicted and found guilty or having pled guilty to lying to the Law Enforcement about their role in the coverup, i dont think they would say that thats premature to use that word. They are now serving out the consequences for those things and as far as how it affects democratic politics, democrats are united, we want to get to the bottom of this, we want to know what the president did or didnt do and what it warrants and those actions and activities obviously there are things in the Mueller Report that are still coming out beyond ag barrs redactions of it. But is there a risk of Speaker Pelosi losing her job if vocal members are demanding impeachment proceedings, benjamin . Well, just seems like every time the democrats get what they want which is like the Mueller Report being published, they get something that they want, then they go to Something Else because they havent had enough information to really go forward with whatever they hoped confirms their worst possible scenario of the president , but if you watch the news and you just follow politics and you look at the rhetoric, you think that nothing in washington is going on in the positive light but actually, congress is working on a lot of great bipartisan pieces of legislation like save our seas act, public lands package, Environmental Issues that i care about and we dont talk about that and the Democratic Party is moving further to the left on the nationalscale issues while most people are in the middle and the people in the middle dont think theres enough evidence to punish trump for impeachment. Go ahead. This is where ben and i would agree, i think there are good things coming out of washington right now and i think mainstream america, people in the middle will appreciate the us house, democraticcontrolled u. S. House with leadership of democrats passed the largest overhaul in decade to help people who are parttime earners save for retirement to help middleincome folks save to later in years to pay for their retirement, i think theres great things coming out of the democraticcontrolled house right now. Let me push back on that for a moment. I covered capitol hill and there was barely any talk about that because it was all about impeachment and investigation, are you at risk of drowning out your own positive developments . I dont think democrats are the ones who are pushing media storyline on impeachment. You notice the house caucus meeting that was onto even discuss that and the investigations was a closed meeting. I think we should be looking at the media to talk more about those accomplishments and whats going on and not just about the scramble for the political fallout over questions that are going to come down to road. You mentioned legislative accomplishment. 19. 1 billion disaster bill, is that a sign that they can slug it out and get important things done, isaac . I hope so, held in the house by single republican from texas chip roy, hopefully they will have that revote again on tuesday and be able to finish it in the house as well without republican chip roys objection and move forward wit. I think the 19. 1 billion relief package is important and thats a great sign. Republicans in the u. S. Senate stood up to President Trump and said, you have to drop your opposition to this, you have to drop your holdout on it and weve got to get things, we have to get relief to Central Texas farmers, we have to get relief to those people impacted by floods, by hurricanes and we saw progress there when republicans and the u. S. Senate were willing to stand up to trump and i think we can see more of that hopefully in the future if we pray for our president and administration. Is it possible that meeting blew up because the president heard from majority leader mcconnell and other republicans they had little to no appetite for a 2 trilliondollar infrastructure package . I think its the big part of it but honestly if you look at the National Political landscape and you look at the hot button issues that we all disagree upon it seems like, Climate Change, immigration u those are the ones that we seem to not be able to come together on in a bipartisan way because it doesnt fit rhetoric that both parties want to push, when youre talking about retirement bill or Disaster Relief bill, its things that people are coming together on but it isnt popular to talk about in the media or campaign trail. I think what it takes are leaders like nancy pelosi and the president to say, okay, maybe most americans actually do want us to Work Together on infrastructure or Climate Change or immigration and maybe we should try to look at compromises and bipartisan opportunities because theyre happening on issues that just arent hot button but they can happen. Gentlemen, many thanks. Arthel race to replace british Prime Minister theresa may after conservative party leader announced resignation, she says she will stay on till june 7th, paving the way for even more battles over brexit. Kitty logan live in london with the latest, kitty, this has to be the talk of town there, for sure. Yes, arthel, it is, and also tricky times ahead, more political turmoil, the new leader whoever that is will have to deal with the brexit crisis which is, of course, still unresolved, now, the opposition options of course are limited particularly because the eu says its not prepared to renegotiate that eu deal that it agreed with theresa may, now, theresa may has been under pressure for a long time over brexit and within from her own party, critics say she had fail today deliver on brexit on that referendum vote but her departure complicates britishs plans to exit eu and new leader is expected to take a different approach. The big question now is who will take her place, many contenders are probrexit supporter such as borris johnson, favorite to takeover but there is a long list of rivals in the running as well and whoever wins the Party Leadership will, of course, automatically become Prime Minister as head of conservative party, that new leader will have to find a solution to the brexit crisis and theresa may, of course, began when she repeatedly failed to het her eu agreement passed through uk parliament. Suffered the Worst Parliament defeat in history and now, of course, brexit which should have happened on march 29th, has been delayed until october the 31st and unexpectedly then britain will have to take part in eu parliamentary elections, why is that significant . Well, the polls are showing interestingly that Theresa Mays Conservative Party is going to have a very poor showing when results are now on sunday, that many believe its punishment for not delivering on brexit promises. Now, the process to select a new leader of the conservative party and of course new Prime Minister will begin after theresa may steps down but all is not simple, arthel because the Opposition Labour Party would like to call new elections. Arthel talk of the town, kitty logan, thank you, kitty, take care. Arthel well, unofficial kickoff to summer and with it comes massive travel, aaa some 43 Million People will be on the move this memorial day weekend, making the second busiest memorial day weekend and soms series of grounding of 100 737 max jets and good news for those who are driving, price at the pump should level off after recent spike, right now regular gallon of gas at 2. 84, joining me now founder of travel pump. Com. Mark, hi, i want to start here because i understand that more people are using disposable cash on travel rather than shopping. Absolutely. People want experiences, so you take the baby boomer generation, they were buying the second homes and everything else. Most of my friends who were baby boomers, they didnt want to sell and travel the world, 50 of discretionary spending, but two generations behind him you have millennials coming in and more of them and they are delaying getting married, guess what they are spending money on, travel, they want experiences, they are big consumers of travel, incredible demand for travel. Arthel very good, i want to get back to 737 max 8 and 9 planes that have been grounded, how much of that will impact air travel this summer . You know, way overblown, southwest, followed by American Airlines with 14 and united doesnt has 14 of the 9 that are grounded domestically, so if youre flying from miami to new york, thats the heaviest traffic route for that plane, other than its singledigits, in fact, less than 5 of Airlines Total Flights and should have no impact on any travelers because theyve had warning to bring other planes to backfill. They have increased capacity this summer because demand is way up, its offset quite a bit and fares are pretty attractive. I hear people going on a cruise, is this thing again . Well, crew industry is innovating and what happens with the crew industry they will put shorter sailings because the vast majority of americans have never taken a cruise, this gives you lowrisk opportunity to experience it and its over 95 satisfaction for those who do it. I could never taking cruise and i did and thats what they are trying to do in the cruise industry, make more consumers to cruising. Arthel very good. Do you remember when you contacted your trustee travel agent to plan your trip and everybody started doing it online, so now i understand that you youre saying that people are turning again to the travel agents; is that right . Without a doubt, without a doubt. Travel agents travel advisers, professionals, use whatever monitor you want, the reality on the ground, you go and you search for a deal and you get a bunch of search results, people dont realize that the vast majority of the site that is come up that are considered Online Travel agencies are controlled by two major companies, booking holdings and expedia, also owns hotels. Com, trivago and orbitz, you are bouncing from one set of hotels and packages to another, literally all under same umbrella, talk to professional, they give you unbiased advice and select from all suppliers and options based on your individual needs no different than great lawyer, financial adviser, et cetera.
