Airliners, u. S. Flights and jets rather were scrambled if we have to jump at every threat that terrorists look like theyre winning doapght they . And this man look at him. Heartthrob to millions one of the kings of his sport. Well hes going to get a new boss. Who is he . Bet you dont know. Varney company is about to begin. Every second that ticks by the future is turning out. [inaudible] well that was a clip from dis iins tomorrow land it only made 41 million but it cost 190 million to make. Some could call that a flop because it gets preachy about Climate Change. E personally dont think that moviegoers or voters for that matterment a lecture on a Holiday Weekend, do they . I dont think they do stuart. Ting that numbers make that point very well. 41 million in the first Holiday Weekend. A graphic that gives you an idea of how poorly this did to other opens. Avengers age of ultron big hero six 56 million. This came at 41 million with heartthrob George Clooney a disney movie that people have the message of Global Warming shoved down their throat along with, you know starvation in the third world riots in the streets, obesity you name it it is throanl thrown in this movie. Didnt market it if you look at the ads into the Holiday Weekend you didnt know what this was about, jog clooney looked pretty in the ads. Moviegoers didnt know what they were going to get. If they knew preaching about Global Warming they couldnt have gotten 41 million but a whole lot worse. I agree with you actually. I like George Clooney but we kicked it off well, lets duet to the markets, i regret to say we dont have good news there. Dow jones industrial down close to 200 points it must be important if were showing you a chart of the s p 500 and were going to do just that. We are showing you this one. Listen to this. Top stark guy at Goldman Sachs doesnt see the s p going anywhere over the next 12 months and next ten years not much better. All right cheryl, what exactly did you see . Ill give you the general sense of the report that s p will be flat for next 12 over next ten years 2. 7 gain. Just on a value basis that isnt dividends and helps to compound the investment that you make and i wont get too technical here but he say that stocks in general are over valued weve hit a peak. And that were going to be flattening out for quite a while. That doesnt mean a big selloff. But last week, bank of america said big selloff. Go to cash go to gold i think is what they were saying. So i think that theres a lot of nervousness out there. Youve run up to 18,000 and maybe that is it pmpleght stoornghts they operate in cycles and were at the peak of a cycle has been a long market long in the tooth if you want to put it that way. This is what markets do. Hes staying flat it is it be analysts are trying to put peoples money into foreign stockses. Asia, europe because they think that returns are going to be in other countries. I wonder about viewers watching this program who have got some investments in the stock market and hear all of this talk. A lot of talk about here it comes boy might be heading south theyre not thinking about transferring to europe or asia. Theyre thinking do i want to sell my stocks now because Dow Jones Industrial down 202 pontes. That is what theyre asking do i sell and get out now . Well diversitied to have yourself covered. Dont run to exits. So panicking is never the right thing to do. Look at the price of oil. Where are we . Well above 60 couple of weeks ago. Now were 5830 down 2 today. Price of gasoline is also down and ever so slightly overnight 273. Youre looking at cheapest gas in the land buck 97 that at the m and w express in texas. Somewhere in america, you can still get gas below 2. With us from gas buddy. Com, all right patrick i want your prediction forecast if you like, for gas prices through labor day. I think right now were looking at a peak with a National Average at 2. 75 shouldnt get worse keeping in mind that california itself is adding ten cents to National Average with a lot of eyes at the refinery level out there. I would expect prices to decline at great lakes seeing increases. Bottom line for the summer is this is probably close to as bad as it gets prices settle down in the mid 2 a gallon range for much of the u. S. For most of the summer. That is a very nice piece of news on this tuesday back from a long Holiday Weekend. Im going to repeat it. So good im going to repeat it. You say that were 2. 73 74 now, will stabilize there and maybe maybe come down to 2. 50, to 2. 60 isnt that the exact opposite of what we normally get in the summer . Peak late april early may now this year a late peak in prices because of some refinery issues that continue to bog us down. But actually sir we tend to see prices go down after memorial day and gets anxious approaching the weekend prices tend to rally. And then after labor day which is our first test of gasoline supply ahead of memorial day weekend prices usually start to reverse. Dont be surprised oil down this morning, gas prices trending down, it is probably the start of some sort of correction in oil. Okay, ladies and gentlemen, please ignore that banner running across bottom of your screens. 4 gas this summer question mark . No everybody around this Table Including patrick says no. For the gas this summer, confirm that for us patrick. Thats correct, certainly banner may not be wrong. In california, so at least youre 150th correct there. Once it was approaching four but now it will back off. For california. What can i say . But we love our viewers in california business taken there. All right patrick well let you go. Your assistance there stoort. Anonymous threats claiming chemical weapons were hidden onboard at least six commercial jet liners heading into america forced to scramble fighter jets to escort some on to the ground. No chemical weapons found. Right of chemical weapons or a bomb one of International Flights one from ferris to jfk another from madrid to newark. Of course they have to scramble in one of the cases they get the plane and evacuate people. They go through planes nothing found. Also there was other cities hit by this buffalo for another one, and atlanta, a huge amount of money exfence and a lot of inconvenience but you have to do this. Because you know you have to. If you dont it will be something to it. But that means that every time somebody phones in a threat right i dont know about every time but any degree of correct to it we all have to jump. Not every time. S thrg t theres a system in place so, i mean, hundreds of threats come into commercial airliners every single day and 99. 9 of the time theyre bogus. Only a few theyll take seriously they took these seriously and coming in Different Airlines this came in a specific time period so this is why i think the coordinated nature of the calls is what got the airlines a particularly to take notice to be careful. But ive been through it asking Flight Attendant you take the plane out to tarmac if you leave the passenger onboard normally dont take them off. Search the plane clear it, back in the air. I dont to be on the planes corruption alone, and fear and who wants that . Lots of corporate headlines today. Lauren has them incase you miss it had. I do, good morning everybody. So taco bell will spend most this have year figuring out how to remove all artificial flavors and colors from its food. 95 of the menu will be affected taco bell is owned by young brands those shares are down twothirds of one percent. Walmart wants meat suppliers to reduce the antibiotics in animal theres concern that by feeding antibiotics to animals resistant superbugs could develop in humans. Walmart shares are down three quarters of one percent. And chart or communications wants to buy Time Warner Cable for 55 billion. Now that would create a giant 24 million subscribers in 41 states, enough to compete with the Industry Leader comcast. If this deal is approved that is a big if charter promises faster wifi, bigger video and cheaper phone service. You can see, i know want to throw that remote out the window at the time. Having a nice day. People are fed up with cable bills and cutting the cord that is the problem. Theres skepticism on this side of the stewed is joe about whether or not you get cheaper internet. Optimistic but dont you think if you have a merged company that merged xeanl could perhaps negotiate a better deal with the tv provider . If they do theyre not going to pass that up to you guys. Passible . Yeah. Regulators okay with this everyone . I dont know not a done deal by any means. Fcc statement earlier though. Theyre reviewing it. Well review it ourselves [laughter] costing the wire this warning by isis inside our borders, increased chatter on social media by terrorists military personal kneel, a clear target this is over this past weekend. Meanwhile defense secretary Ash Carter Says iraqi forces gave up in ramadi. No will to fight isis. Also hingting at a shift in strategy now does that mean more u. S. Boots on the ground . Listen to that. If isis was able to have a victory celebration trade to ramadi in the middle of the day, and not a single one of those vehicles was attacked shows us how in inept and neutered this is. Time upon a once people approached problems the way same. Always start at the starting. And questions the same asking. But that only resulted in improvements small. So weve got some ideas new. Garbage can create energy. Light can talk. Countries can run on jet engine technology. When you look at problems in ways different you new solutions find. Indeed were moving out, and we start monday of next week. 9 eastern time we get more time three whole hours. We go to noon. Big changes start next week. What do you want to say . Youre trying to think on the left stuart . Very good very good. Yeah. No im not actually. [laughter] i hate to do this to you but look at that big board down almost 200 ponts. That is 1 if you look at all of the 30 stocks of the dow industrial all of them without exception are in the red that means they are down. So selloff today. Time is money. 30 seconds three more for you one of the most value only sports franchises madrid soccer fires its coach. Im going to tell you why that matter and why my Production Team totally disagrees with me. Big fight coming up. Need some education. They do indeed. Careful youll get emails son. Mic is not working. Here is who rand paul president ial candidate in the studio with me 11 50. Were talking nsa, privacy, and reaganomics General Motors could face charges over the faulty ignition switches hear the question will any gm employee individuals any individual be charged criminally . Well see. But we have the story for you. Next, our own secretary defense says, iraqi troops we trainled have lost their will to fight, and heres the direct quote iraqi forces just showed no will to fight. They were not outnumbered, in fact, they vastly jut numbered opposing force. We have an issue with the will of the iraqis to fight isil and defend themselves that is ash carter defense secretary. Colonel tony shafer is with us from d. C. Now can i get the impression that the administers is beginning to shift that those beginning to be this idea that maybe we would just have boots on the ground firing guns in anger to oppose bad guys you get same feeling . I get the same feeling that we have to do something to change the course were on right now. Clearly not working and no matter how many times they try to explain things away. Theres no explaining away the isis victory parade in ramadi. Lets be very is clear here for the audience the army, iraqi army that is before us today was designed back in late 2000s to prebility an iraqi republic. Stewart that no longer exists. We have a completely fractured country iraqi army does not represent what the country is now. I have debriefed one of the trainers there in iraq training these guy and our trainers spent more time trying to separate sunni trying to separate rather than training them to fight so speaking the truth, and by the way pentagon generals were told that fact that the iraqi army would collapse like a cheap char on meeting you know, meeting any combat this year. So i think it is good and healthy were having a breath of truth come out. Mpg military people that weve had on this program suggest colonel alan quest in particular to suggest that 10,000 troops could hold the line. 10,000 american troops could hold the lean. You agree with that . Alan is a friend, and i think it is true with that said i dont think that is the next step. We have two other steps in force to take first. First kurds most effective fight course on the ground of the 12 brigades we have four on the ground why not internally against other tarts. Before we put our groups on the ground lets use our best ally. Secondly egyptians president asisi underwork college theyre willing to take on more. Enforce arab force there is and imagine this put our advisors physically with them to go out to help advise them dont have them behind the wire theres a number of thing we can do before we have to put our boots back on the ground. I agree with alan eventually if we dont do what is correct in stopping isis we have to do something much more dramatic but we puts our boots on the ground stuart we become the issue and target like we did last 250eu78. Time. Understood but do you feel theyll put those boots on the ground . I personally think theyre thinking about it but wont do it. I agree. I think that is on the table. Remember the pentagon will have changes. Ash carter came in. Joe about to replace a general dempsey, a good choice by the way. A wise one. I think this is all going in the direction and pentagon is waking up. I would like to believe ash a carter comments great flash of reality is a trend that the pentagon will continue. Someone speaking the truth stuart. Might be if baghdad were attacked directly and overrun. It is coming. All right colonel shafer thank you. Thank you. Now we have this in thes using memorial day to sell party swag, 15 off democrats tshirts it backfires. People on social media call them out the poor taste well deal with it in a moment. Down it goes 7 being loss. Wild weather in the metledz of the country new video coming in of a massive tornado touching down in texas. Eight states on high alerts and houston has a flash flood emergency on its hands. Well seems that democrats may have forgotten a little bit about what moral day is about. Just look at this happy memorial day tweet from the official twitter account of the democrats. It is a picture of the president eating ice cream and Ice Cream Cone in an Ice Cream Store does that go far. Not sure about that. But they offer 15 off democrat themed paraphernalia im not outraged some are outraged at this im not. Tone deaf. I think it is tacky. I think that is the word to put it into american language tacky. I think on a day suppose to be honoring those who have fallen in service of their country only day of the year that we do to be party paraphernalia is setting the wrong tone and tacky is best word. Administers could have used it to get behind troops. Exactly and our morel. In some way but 15 not good. Let close to 200 points we have to come up with a reason of the day why it is down. What is yours . Strong dollar. That i think is what this is all about. Inflation on the rise when the fed wants and weve got decent economic date that mean fed could be raising Interest Rates sooner. That fits in with lower price of oil today. That is exactly right. Higher dollar hills gold absolutely. Look at that down two and a half on oil. President ial candidates senator rand paul joins us here in the new york stews joe libertarian favorite for 2016 and 11 50 good senator will be with us. Hillary clinton selfdroibed champion of the middle class wants to do something about income inequality but were calling her mrs. Wall street. Big number a billion actually a 2 billion campaign shes going to wage does that present a problem for the clinton machine that is a question well ask. Families is Strong America is strong. I did not have sexual relations with that woman. I want them out as soon as they can get out. Command it . Well theyre not mine. Sh what is dirvets at that point does it make . Usaa makes me feel like im a car buying expert in no time at all. There was no stress. It was in and out. If i buy a car through usaa, i know im getting a fair price. We realized, okay, this not only could be convenient we could save a lot of money. I was like, wow, if i could save this much, then i could actually maybe upgrade a little bit. And it was just easy. Usaa, they just really make sure that youre well taken care of. Usaa car buying service. Powered by truecar. Online and on the usaa app. It is a precisely 1 selloff that is down 8 181 points that is 1 . Strong dollar says ashley webb stesh that is doing and strong dollar is mooing price of oil down as well. Down 2 right now. 58 dollars a barrel. Gas actually mooed down slightly overnight they were still at 2. 73 cheapest in the lantd is a buck 97 in texas. Now this rich gets richer thanks to the feted printing a lot of money. Rich were able to take advantage and ride that record storkt wave, so Hillary Clinton whom we call mrs. Wall street does chef a problem with all of them . Shes all for reshuffling the deck bring in blood feud, head klein. Just saying. That mrs. Clinton and wall street what were calling her has a real problem with this support from wall street. She doses that is why she stopped channeling Eleanor Roosevelt and started ohanneling Elizabeth Warren. What u do you mean channeling . Says the game is rigged. What does hillary say she said the deck is stacked. Elizabeth warren says something about income inquality and save the economy we have to topple the 1 . It is very much veering to left of the party because the clintons are really afraid that Elizabeth Warren despite her demures may still enter the primary. That is a big fear that clintons are worried. If she gets in they have a bigger problem. They worried for very good reason. Number one the white house has been urging Elizabeth Warren to go in. Clintons know about that. Dew do you know that obama team is urging her to get in the race . I have actual reporting on this from inside the white house that they have had these meetings offering her support financially, organizationally, and otherwise. They would like to see her in, and the clintons know about that and they know that half of the Kennedy Family ethel, matriarch of the family and joe are in favor of Elizabeth Warren as well as we know kennedys back in 2008 who turned the wave in favor of barack obama. That is right in the runup to the 2008 nomination i do remember senator fed ward kennedy tunning and shifting away from hillary straight to barack obama that setoff the avalanche of the change in support. You said that kennedys are doing same thing now half of the Kennedy Family. Bill clinton didnt become bill clinton because he believed some representative of the wing of the democratic party. [laughter] elizabeth juan, you know, he says maybe she wont run but again then maybe she will run. How would you happened the cap right now if elizabeth runs or not. What would you say . Very small chance that shes going to run. Why so small . A chance because i think she feels that right now she would win because hillary hasnt really stumbled enough and made enough mistakes to really count her out in the primary. But the paskt fact of the matter in report my new book that im still working most of the democrats and republicans that i talk to say they have some serious staff that hillary will win the primary or generalling election. I wonder if Elizabeth Warren got in if they were the democrat nominee for the presidency im not sure that that is l ultra left populous approach would win. I dont think so. You say . I agree with you entirely. But the base of the party says were finished request this centurys Old Fashioned clinton approach. Theyre looking for something with fire in it. Somebody who will come forward to speak to their basically far left wing views. You wrote the book blood feud it is about the blood feud between the obama people and the clinton people. But it seems to me that recently that blood feud if it is there. You say it is has been buried. And were sort of glossed over. The two sides have glossed it over. Well, i dont think that is true at all. At least not to my reporting. Not so long ago Valerie Jared called huma abidine right hand woman and wants to meet with Hillary Clinton, and there was a meeting in the oval office in which obama made is very clear to stay neutral in the primary campaign. He was not going to choose sides, made it clear that he really was not in favor of Hillary Clinton. Well that is a big deal. It is. [laughter] that could really change the outcome of this election, i do believe. Ed klein we await your new book you cant tell us what it is or the title. It is about Hillary Clinton. [laughter] okay. Funny you should say that. Ted klein a pleasure thanks for being with us again. Loyal Varney Company viewers may know that i have a tree farm in upstate new york. Were talking big, big business with madrid. Ironically barcelona won everything this year and they have quite a manager fired. On sunday. Trchght a lot of people dont know about madrid and its position in the soccer world. It has the greatest club in the history of soccer. Like new york yankees if you want to give the analogy. Legend of madrid that captures imagination of soccer club around the the world. A superteam where you would full in stars, not madrid orveg plays in masdrid spain, in late 50s they were pulling from hungary, and revolutionary. Nobody had done that before. If you played in madrid you have spanish players on your team that was it. But they brought in a member dating myself. I realize that but from hungary and from argentina. Brilliant. One from italy, i think. Santa maria from brazil, and that was the superteam. Greatest team ever been assembled they won the european cup in 1960 by beating the holland 73. President president ial candidate senator rand paul what a pleasure to have you with us sir. Thanks for having me. Jumping right into the current question would you be happy if there were no bulk collection of data . Absolutely. I stood for ten and a half hours on the senate floor and sod we should end it. Mainly buzz our frame our constitutional founders they were worried about privacy also they were worried about whether or not soldiers could write warrants with nobodys name on it like a general warrant to just ranted up anybody or go into anybodys house. It is important that we pout amendment says to vimgize warrants so shouldnt be able to collect every americans records but if you know of one american and you have some probable cause or suspicion, all means look at that record. By dont look at everyones record. Age of nuclear terror, while that is a distinct possibility on the horizon does that change the calculation because the threat is so enormous . Interesting thing is that last week the department of justice Inspector General came out and said that theres no evidence and cracked one case with all of this. But really my opposition is more based on liberty that you shouldnt give up liberty even if you said at work to give your liberty because were fighting against terrorist to protect our liberty, bill of rights. I want to stay with this subject for a second would you keep all of the records which have been collected already and i asked that question because if that guy comes into america commits terrorist act, it will be nice to have those records to look and find out who that bad guy has been talking to. So i would say keep records but i think you disagree. You can do that with the constitution we have evidence and say john dough we think is a terrorist. You call the judge. Get a warrant and you look at phone routers, and you can look at the records of everybody he called and everybody they called as long as you individualize the suspicion and each step along the way you can go 100 jumps into all of the data im for that. But you have to call a judge because when we didnt we have bias. We locked up japanese during world war ii. Civil rights protesters have it looked at. War protesters during the vietnam war. A danger of bias entering into it without the police for front seat judicial power. The judge that would be judge Andrew Napolitano is biting his tongue here. He wants to get into this. You and i profoundly disagree about the threat in the nuclear age. Dont we . Well i dont know that we disagree about the threat. We agree about the remedy. I agree with everything that senator paul has just said. No matter how serious the threat you dont give up your liberty because liberty once given up given a lot of examples. But what is profound for an argument that you and i have, like the one senator paul had with brian, this morning is that we now know for first time patriot act hasnted to a single plot and hasnt aided in the prosecution of a single defendant for a terrorist related crime. In the fast is no reason to negate the whole structure in the future. That absolutely is. But what i would say heres the point people set this argument a up as all or none that if we dont have bulk collection we wont have any collection. I am for collection of data on people who attack. So not against that. If im the judge and you say john dough we have evidence and this is how it works. Laugh they do we have no evidence of anyone that has ever been stopped where we didnt have already some suspicion so use the suspicion and other thing is that if we build the hay stack bigger and bigger every americans phone records in there. I think we get lost in the hay stack and cant find the needle. The boston bomber we have some evidence. Russians tipped us off. Most judges in america myself included would have said, you know what lets follow that boys travel records because of this suspicious, and lets make sure he doesnt go back to cheatnia enough for judge to get a warrant and do what we shouldnt have done because we were spending billions collecting information for innocent americans. Moving on to reaganomics. I was just getting gong. That was a joke, im worried about it. Tag teaming you. I know when im being tag teamed. Are you a flat out caught tax rates on individuals and corporations flat out . Absolutely. You cause growth the way you have growth is you leave more money in hands of the productive sector and productive sector is american people. Government is a Necessary Evil and therefore should be kept as small as possible and the private sector as beg as possible. What would you bring down the top rate to . I think Ronald Reagan was 28 as i recall back in the early 1990s. That was pretty good but i would go lower. Infact, were producing and releasing a tax plan that will be in teens and it will be the most dramatic shift in the taxation policy and simplification in our history and introduce it next couple of weeks. Where would you cut spepgding . Everywhere. Across the board like 2 . You can do it and people have complained about about this quester idea but it is not a bad idea if you do 1 across the board of everything budget balances within five years. But you can say well do 1 of everything or if you would rather preserve National Defense which i would. Why not cut more. We have cut 10 . Why not 100 of the department of commerce. Maybe 100 of the department of education, and then maybe 15 of many other departments, in order to maybe preserve our National Defense. Is this in the book . Taking a stand . Moving beyond partisan politics to unite america . All in there . Yes. What we talk about is a host of things but we talk about how message can be bigger i talk about criminal justice and how we disproportionately incarcerated too many africanamericans and need to fix our criminal justice. To be so descractsed sir looking for the name of the judge Andrew Napolitano in credits i cant find it. Need glasses all right. [laughter] off the margin. Senator always a pleasure. Thank you very much for being with us. Great tag team judge. See you in the other half hour. Thanks very much. Buy gold get cash markets barely group in the next decade. These are major warnings from the big banks, should you follow those warnings . Well deal with it in the next hour plus another find of the Economic Times most College Graduates expects their parents to help 24e78 financially are they victimses of a rotton economy . Hour two is just a minute away. Stuart noon pacific that would be noon eastern 9 00 pacific. Top headline this hour. Law enforcement on high alert over the weekend. Isis targeting military events for memorial day were just finding it out this tuesday morning. This new threat focused on military events and memorial day celebrations. The markets. Way down. The economy clearly not booming, and now there are nervous investors out there the dow is up nearly 200 points. And chances are you use instagram, or your grandkids could they use their pictures as art . And two of the most Popular Companies out there charter and Time Warner Cable. They want to merge. Will this mean faster internet and Better Service . What do you think . Here comes hour two. Stuart isis fightings moving across the mideast, the white house calls it a setback. Many call it a disaster. Iraqi arm preparing an operation to push isis out of the province, keep them away from the capital city of baghdad. And our secretaries of defense, ashton speaking over the weekend says the Iraqi Security forces have lost the will to fight and defend themselves. Lieutenant colonel Tony Schaffer on this show last hour. Charter is speaking the truth. And, by the way pentagon generals were told the fact that the iraqi arm would crash like a cheap chair on, you know meeting any combat earlier this year. So i think its good and healthy were having a breath of truth come out. Well, he went on to say that the shift and strategy in the fight against isis may not be on the table. So there you have. Check the big board. All 30 stocks are moving lower, and the dow collective is down 182 points. Lets bring in steve in washington. Steve, first it was bank of america, now Goldman Sachs theyre throwing a little cold water onto the stock market these days. Ill see. Stuart youre an economist but what douse about the stock market. Well, look, first of all where are you going to put your money money if youre not going to put it in stocks . Youre crazy to buy 10, 20 year bonds with 2 3 Interest Rates, youre never going to make any money on that. So i think those low Interest Rates are forcing people to put money into the market. And look, i go all arnold the country and everywhere i go i talk to people and they say business is good. That theyre hiring more people. So i dont know im not the pessimist out there. I think things are looking a little bit up pot u. S. Economy. Not gown. Stuart so if we got the administration or some move toward lower tax rates to individuals and corporations, and i know thats what you and i really believe in. Right. Stuart and you and i both think that that would give us some serious growth in the future. If we arrived at that point then what happens to the stock market. Well, first of all, unfortunately, i dont think thats going to happen for the next 18 months. I think this is just idological against it, even though 80 of economist would bring you we bring our tax increase rate to interNational Average so that Companies Like burger king dont leave the United States. Thats just so sensible, but i see no education that this president would do it. Would it help the market and the business and employment . Theres had to question that it would. Theres a series of low hanging fruits that this president could pick handing it grow back up to 3 4 , i just dont see him doing it. Stuart thats why i think there is some nervousness about the stock market. Yeah. Stuart legitimate nervousness. Yeah. Stuart because we are going to get a tack cut. Right. Stuart its think just not going to happen. In fact, this president wants a tax increase. And i just dont see how this economy can expand. All right. Stuart go ahead let me explain that because i believe what you said. It is true that nothing good is going to happen, but, you know wall street likes . That nothing bad is going to happen. I mean this has not been a especially Productive Congress but, you know, what . Not a lot of new regulations are passing not a lot of new taxes, you know, in other words, what are the chances that theres going to be a tax increase over the next 18 months . Zero. So i think that washington isnt nearly as scary as it was, you know, three or four years ago. And, by the way nobodys even paying that much attention to president obama right now because everybody is focused on these nominations the president ial race on the republican side. Thats where everybody is focused. I mean i just saw your fascinating interview with rand paul, im a little bias because ive been helping him but these are real ideas that are putting juice in the economy, i think youre going to hear it from a lot of candidates. Stuart did you hear rand paul say he would enforce tax rates and bring the top rates into the teens, he wasnt precise but below 20 would be taxable for individuals. Did you hear him say that . Because thats revolutionary. I know what number hes talking about, i cant tell you because i would have to kill you. But i think hes going to have the lowest flat rate tax out there. And, look, let the rest get in this debilitate on the republican side, youre having flat tax National Sales tax how are you going to fix our tax system . I dont hear from Hillary Clinton or the democrats. So all of the debate on policy is really happening on the republican side of the ill. I think one of the problems quite frankly, is that theyre not talking about growth. Theyre talking about redistribution, and thats a very, very different economic attitude. Its a classic face off isnt it. Yeah. Stuart growth versus redistribution. Never has. Show me anywhere in the world where arad cal redistribution has led to higher comes, if you want equality, go to come combodia. Stuart youre terrible. Its true. And everyone else in moving, some of these other countries they are i think starting to get a dose of economic reality, lets bring that here to the United States. Stuart all right. Thanks very much, steve. All right. Stuart see you. Yeah. Stuart cable providers. You know theyre really not popular, are they . Well now Charter Communications wants to merge with Time Warner Cable. Is this deal going to make things better for us . We and kurt the cyber guy on this program about ten minutes from now. Now the holiday box office. Disney tomorrow land only made 41 million. Remember it cost 190 million to make that movie. And the movie actually gets kind of preachy about Climate Change. And the stock disney stock hits 109 and is coming down a little bit. Look at taco bell and pizza hut, the latest to jump on the health bandwagon. The stock actually down. Check the share price of General Motors. Heres a story for you. Federal prosecutors will likely bring criminal charges against gm for the ignition switch problems linked to more than 100 deaths. Liz macdonald is here. Criminal charges against the company as opposed to criminal charges against individuals. Will go to has been the last part, that could still happen. The word is that the fbi and the department of justice, who is u. S. District attorney here in new york, hes this is a take no prisoners guy. He is not accepting the status quo. Even though theres a the question is will he go after individual gm executives for failing to disclose and making the statements about the ignition switch defects that cause 104 deaths and multiple injuries and led to, you know, 15 people being fired from gm. Stuart bottom line. This black eye for General Motors is not going to go away any time soon. In fact, could get worse. It could get worse. And heres a way to look at it. We the u. S. Taxpayer, gave gm a 49. 5m billion dollars pay out. They pocketed 11 billiondollar. But to the u. S. Taxpayer bayout a really bad company kidnap that was covering up ignition switch defects that killed people. Stuart what a mess. It is a mess. It is a black eye for. By the way it started under george w. Bush. Stuart it sure did. And lets take a look at price of gasoline. It moved down a little bit overnight. Its at 2. 73. Come on in, larry, earlier on this program from chicago we had the gas buddy guy who said that, you know were just about hit a top for gasoline prices for the summer, and we might come down a little bit. Well youre in the chicago trading pitch there you trade these moments. Commodities. What say you . I do agree with the gas buddy guy and a lot of the traders behind me kind of agree that weve hit a top 62 is really going to the resistants in oil and as Energy Prices go up, that brings drillers back online; right . That brings more drillers online and makes more supply. Thats supply and demand basically how it works around here. So for that reason, as more drillers come on, youre looking at the market where they are going to fall off as that supply comes onto the market. Stuart well thats interesting because here we are just starting in the beginning of summer and were not going to go up significant. This seems to be broad agreement that price of gasoline is not going to get back up to 2. 90, 3 a gallon. I say thats good news for the economy. No question about it. Yeah absolutely; right . Another drop in gas and like i said its really a situation where everybody feels that way be so people are really getting in front of that and i think people are going to step in and short oil. But thats going to be a good situation for people out there driving. Were about a dollar less than a year ago and thats a tax break for people. Stuart i paid 2. 40 in new jersey yesterday. Not bad. Ill take that. I bet you pay more than 3. 50 in chicago. But thats another story entirely. Hes nodding. Well see you again soon. More todays top stories and were going to start with dreadly of flooding in texas. Lauren is here. And in case you missed it, what have you got . In the middle of of the country, tornadoes reported across texas but its really the rain, drenching rain, a couple with dry conditions. Dangerous flooding, streets are being turned into rages reserves, emergency workers pulling stranded drivers from their car. Eight states on high alert and 37 counties in texas have been declared disaster areas. At least nine people have died. Well, several plane hoaxes over the busy weekend several reports about unanimous phone threats some so alarming, plane and luggage searches were done and in one case a military escort was needed. And then theres this. Pack sun pulling this tshirt from store shelves because its featuring an upside down flag on memorial day weekend. The shirt was design by a rapper, he has previously said he uses the upside down flag to say the world is upside down but on memorial day people complained. And pack sun listened. Stuart good. Yeah. Stuart up next, a sign of the times. More than half of millennials half of them, expect financial help from their parents after they graduate College Stuart amtrak says its going to install inward facing video cameras in locomotives by the end of this year. That will allow it to closely monitor the engineers who are driving the train. Investigates are still look into the deadly amtrak derailment outside philadelphia and brandon has told investigators he doesnt remember what occurred before or during that accident. Now this. According to a new survey, 68 of students expect financial supporter from parents after graduation. Liz macdonald is here. That sounds like an extremely high number and a whole new ball game where college and finances. Yeah. I tell you. And it comes from sally may and thats a Student Loan Company who basically they look into. And, you know, it is ana astounding number. We knew that, you know, college aid from their parents, certainly i did and 68 is to expect, expect is the key word, that is the key language. Stuart its huge. Thats huge. Stuart two out of three expect mom and dad to provide some more money after theyve graduated. Yeah. Stuart and what do the pa and watch this. 65 equal amount. 65 of parents say they will support their College Age Children after they graduate for five years. Five years. That is a really long time. And, you know, only 25 of the painters say, you know, what . It will get them a job that had study for. So the whole College Business model broken. Stuart yes. Absolutely right. The cost have college has gone straight up. The amount of Student Loans outstanding, 1. 2 trillion enormous. So many students graduating with a huge debt around their neck and a really good shortage of jobs to go to that would be able to repay those loans. And College Model is a taxexempt model. This whole College Business model will be called into questions and more services and the more parents realize. Hey, what a nuse we have around our neck and really sky high college tuition. Stuart youre right. Its got to change. Trade degrees; right . Accounting, engineering. Thats the way to go to get money. Stuart well a big cable merger. Charter communications wants to buy Time Warner Cable they prepare to pay 55 billion, it would be one of the best paid tv and Internet Company in the country. Kurt is here. I want to know this. If these two Companies Get together and the authorities let it go through. Am i going to get Better Service from this new big company . Am i . Isnt that the number one question we all want to know as consumers, and it does look like this deal will go through. Not quite as big as comcast but what were talking about if you look at yelp right now and you look at Time Warner Cable and your city, youre going to find the same results assist if you look up charter. Its really just crap. 1. 5 stars on average out of five stars. Customer Service Issues are horrendous in this entire industry. So reducing the amount of competition certainly doesnt help the consumer and in terms of prices, were all going to have to work very very hard to find and shop for the kinds of packages and decipher whats to come in marketing so that we still get a decent deal. Fewer choices. Higher prices. Its just supply and demand. Will the service get better . Maybe. Maybe no motivation for that too. Stuart it seems to me were creating i hate to use a technical tell me, but monopoly where youve got three or four that dominate a industry. Thats not competition. Thats not the way its supposed to be, and yet you cant avoid it because the providing of a big pipe into your home, you cant have two big pipes into your home and choose one from the other. This is one of those situations where youve got a local monopoly and restricted competition within the industry as a whole. Thats it. Youre absolutely right. I think well see the heating up though with at t and verizon, at t with u verse trying to compete with these big giants and cable, youll see that heat up, and thats good for us as consumer. But whats not really good is when bad big gets together with big bad, and thats not a so Great Customer experience, despite the fact that charter ceo will seem to be the pairing after they merge by the end of 2015, he says hey were going to be able to increase the internet, were going to offer you these robust internet choices. Life is going to be grand with us insides big marriage. I would like to see wait and see if thats actually true. I dont think history says that that is the case. Look at the airline industry. Thats one example right there. Stuart history should tell us that the way around this monopolistic situation is new technology. Some kind of new technology that brings me the big pipes straight to my house without going through the cable companies. You give me that, and youve got real competition, and i think thats going to happen. Isnt google looking at supplying me with Internet Connection with satellites or balloons or something. You Better Believe it. Theyre looking to put together an entire Satellite Network and changing communications period. Theyre looking way out. But in the near term, i think we might see higher cable bills. Thats just my guess. Stuart not from me, you wont. Thanks so much, kurt,. Thank you. Stuart up next. An artist takes other peoples pictures from social media turns them into art, and then sells them for well, 100,000 each and the but other than actually took the picture gets absolutely nothing. Stuart well, authorities in texas have arrested a man who allegedly wanted to fly to the middle peace join isis. The suspect is 20. He comes from spring in texas. He and a friend wanted to go to syria to join isis and waging jihad. His friend allegedly made it to syria. Again a 20yearold under arrest in texas, he wanted to join isis. And now this. An artist is taking other peoples pictures from instagram and making art out of them. He makes a small change to the picture, and then he sells them. Some for as much as 100,000 i dont agree this. The person who took the actual photo gets nothing. Nada. Im putting down my camera because, you know, im just hoping that he picks up one of these photos, signs his name and puts it in a gallery. As you said one of the users said he takes one of my photos and signed his name, i got nothing and he got 90,000. Stuart its not steeling. No. If you want your things private, you have to go to your Instagram Account hit private, and therefore if people want to follow your account, they have to ask for your permission. So in legal terms this comes in fair use and copyright infridganment. Stuart i dont understand why anyone would pay 100,000 for somebody elses picture. Well, i guess the idea is he is well known. Stuart so what. But its his brand as a artist, i mean this works in the frees gallery these are pretty fancy places stuart, so he has a pretty big game and people are oh, its for his editorial vision. People now know that he stole the photos. Stuart but its his choice. He chose these pictures, and his taste, he says that. And also the way that theyre grouped which apparently especially for him he actually worked with the gallery to put those together. So you are paying for his editorial judgment. Stuart what time are you moving your show to . I am moving my show to the best dry cocktail hour there is. [laughter] 5 00. I expect you to be there. With drinks or without stuart varney. Stuart someone like me looks for the Early Bird Special in florida at 5 00 p. M. Congratulations. Thank you. Stuart well see you. Popular women magazines already very much in favor of Hillary Clinton presidency. This is about identity politics. Is that really how we get the best president . Well have more on that. And senator rand paul and judges take on that interview after this stuart take a look at that were down 178 points, that i believe is the biggest drop in about three weeks. In part, its because of a stronger dollar. And the same thing is happening in the oil market. A stronger dollar pushes the price of oil down. 2. 5 at the moment. Gasoline actually moved down a little bit overnight. The National Average is. 73. The cheapest in the land is a 1. 97. Youll see youll find that in texas. Earlier on todays program. We were joined by president ial candidate senator rand paul. Listen to what he had to say. Absolutely. Its what you cause the way you have growth as you leave more money in the hands of the productive sectors the american people. Government is a Necessary Evil and therefore should be kept as small as possible and the private sector as big as possible. Stuart by the way senator rand paul, he was talking about lowering the top tax right judge nep nep. And the look on your face when he said that was one of unbridled glee. [laughter] i share that. Stuart but that was radical stuff. I mean to lower the top tax rate on individuals. Below 20 . I think almost all republican candidates, and it could be as many as 16 or 18 of them are going to call for some significant tax reform his is i believe far and away of the biggest. Stuart definitely. Do you get it . I dont know i agree with everything he said, and you present prudent challenges, and on the economics side, you would probably agree with limb. But the question is can these things be done by a president rand paul and the force of his or do you need a congress to make these changes . The president can only do so many things. Stuart as i recall, Ronald Reagan came won the affliction 1980, took the white house in january of 81 first thing he did was cut rates. Yeah. He didnt have the house, he had an or after goodwill and the country behind him understand to cut him a 100 take a break and give him everything he wanted. Stuart so if he could do that in 1981, rand paul could do it in 2017, if he had a republican senate, and he doesnt have to have a republican house. Well, youre talking about radical change from Jimmy Charter to Ronald Reagan. From barack obama to rand paul and he has a lot of support behind him and he might get away with a lot of changes in the earlier part of his presidency. Stuart and one of the issues was spying, National Security and nsa. Roll that tape, please. Interesting thing is last week the department of justice, the Inspector General came out and said that there is no evidence. Theyve had cracked one case with all of this. But really my opposition is more based on liberator shouldnt give up liberty even if you said it worked to give up liberator because really were fighting against terrorists to protect liberty our bill of rights, and about it give up bill of rights in our process what are we fighting for. Stuart hes like you judge he wouldnt give an inch, theyve not age of nuclear terror, no, he wont give an inch. You know who us come around to that view . And i was surprised to hear this our foreman govern huckabee hes the only in addition to rand paul open to challenge the nsa spying. In fairness to two of them, neither are against spying. Theyre for spying that is said based on the evidence of the persons culpability. Stuart and they warrant. Because thats what the constitution required. Stuart no bulk collection of data. He thinks the bulk collection of data may go away in two weeks because thats the only way theyre going to get the nsa to believe of any spying is to get rid of the bulk and fors it to present evidence. Stuart and to rand paul. Do you remember that piece of paper that the framers wrote after we won the revolution. Stuart 800 years ago . A reluctant king john but a brilliant instrument. Stuart two years ago next month, great war of the british. Yeah. And also for western civilization a dictator wants to become the emperor of the world. Stuart im not going to give you an argument. All right. Stuart youre right because youre absolutely right. Nep olean would have been stopped anyway. Stuart yes, he would. But magna carta still gliffs does he . He lives in dc at the moment. And three that the king signed. Stuart yes. One of them is in dc. Stuart and i think there are three surviving ones. Next week well have three hours instead of these two hours. I cant wait until next week. Stuart so we can drone on. Did you have to use that word . Drone . [laughter]. Stuart you dont like that . Okay. , judge. They very much. Pleasure. Stuart now to Hillary Clinton, she may be chased by reporters, but theres one group in the media which absolutely adore her. The picture youre looking at now is hillary on the cover of vogue in 1998. Will they start falling over her again soon . I say they will. No doubt about that whatsoever, is there . Womens magazines want hillary as president ; correct . That is absolutely right. I mean these are liberal magazines, they target over 53 million women in the country and just lets look at the editor is of vogue. Its ana win tore, who came out and supported Hillary Clinton, particularly two of these magazines that their editors are really they have a Political Writer for each of these magazines, they have these get out vogue campaign so right next to your makeup and fashion tips, you get to hear about Hillary Clinton and her campaign. Stuart ive got a problem with this. And my problem is you dont vote for a candidate because youre a woman shes a woman i want the woman in the presidency. Right. Stuart i dont think that is the best way to handle an election for the president of the United States of america. How about you . I mean sad sadly stuart, times have changed. It has background an ethic gender politics. We talked about which are running, women are getting involved in particulars, as opposed to Digging Deeper into what the professionals. Its sort of whats the quick response. Oh wait theres a sense of wanting a woman president. This is why democrats are standing so strongly behind Hillary Clinton. Stuart could you put a number on it . What proportion will vote for Hillary Clinton to be the president because she is a woman . 5 . 10 . What is it . First of all, i think its higher than you think. First women voters for the most part. Theyre out voting men. Theyre out pacing men five to seven million in the reason elections. Unmaird women in particular 64 have a favorable view of Hillary Clinton. I think for hillary her biggest issues will be married women, which has usually fallen more on the gop side, as well as she might actually polarize the white male, which is an area that the democrats have struggled with. So i think its going to be larger than you think stuart. This is why the gop has top of the key a clear note of who they pick of the president ial candidate that they decide to go with the woman president ial candidate. As much as we dont want to talk about it. The gop needs to corresponding that female voter which right now stan really strongly with Hillary Clinton. Stuart thank you very much indeed mercedes. Thank you stuart. Stuart tomorrow land. Some are calling it a flop for the Holiday Weekend. With just too premie over Climate Change. Shouldnt they stick with what they do best . I touched it and i saw this place. It felt like anything was possible your fox business brief. Not too far off the lows, the dow is down nearly 190 points, the loss of one full percentage point nasdaq down 1 . That losing 55 points. The s p sitting at 21. 05 and we see these billing losses and the selloff weve seen in three weeks, it is moving higher up about 17 . So that is basically moving the biggest surge that weve seen since january. Energy has been a big lagger, all 30 dow components down, by the way. Energy is the big looser relevantloser and amazon. Will amazon take on . Theyre doing a handmade marketplace, so etsy is down 1. 1 . And amazon down 2 stuart we dont show you charts very often, but were going to show you this one. Thats the s p 500 over the past year. Thats a very nice rall would he be isnt it . Well, Goldman Sachs says that graph is going to change. No gains for the next 12 months. In other words, it just plateaus like that. So, first of all, they said get in stocks, and now theyre saying youre going to get no money out of the stock market. Im sure we have a few viewers that want to get out of stocks completely. Would you advise that. No. I wouldnt, stuart, youve got to do anything but get out. Goldman sachs in particular has been at the center of many of the modern financial crisis we have been at with the last few years. Theyve had a hit of trading their clients. My own take is weve got 5 to 8 on the upside with some very different variables. Stuart back to the possible decline for a second. What about taking some money off the fable like, if youve had money in an amazon, for example. And youve made a lot of money in amazon. Why not sell half of it and think take that off the table for a while. Whats wrong with that . Nothings wrong with that, stuart, and, in fact, thats what a lot of investors should be doing right now. As we need it summer, we have a lot of profits on the table and you never go broke taking profit. Get do can, this is all about risk taking or risk management. Take it off the table because you dont need it right now. Stuart i have to ask you about apple because i noticed it recently broke above 130 a share share where do you stand on apple at the moment. I think apple is going to be a very Different Company than people think its changing the Way Technology works, ask as you know was not a fan but when tim took over, that got my attacks because it became a must have technology not a nice to have. Stuart thank you. We appreciate that. Keith, thanks very much for joining us. We appreciate it. My pleasure. Stuart check the share price of disney, please. Tomorrow land only made 41 million, and i say only because it cost 190 million to make that movie. Thats not so good by disney standards for a opening hollywood weekend. Maybe its because the movie is very preachy about Climate Change. Come on in, from kabc radio John Phillips is back with us. And, look, do you think that Climate Change and it is the basis of this movie tomorrow land, that doesnt seem to be grabby for a audience these days, does it . Well, stuart, whenever youre talking about a teenybopper movie and the public is complaining about something other than the 16yearolds being on their cell phones, you know there are serious flaws with the movie. I think youre right in the Climate Change certainly hurt the sales its rated at 50 on rotten tomatoes, and i think its this. Stars like gorge balloony dont sell tickets anymore. Franchises do. Last year x man opened at 110 Million People went out to see like that franchise not the movie stars. Thats the issue. Stuart thats a huge shift isnt it . If the movie star is no longer bankable, youve really shifted the whole industry. Do you go that far . Thats right. Thats why disney is out acquiring x men and other franchises that they think will bring viewers to the theaters. But i know what disney can do to help improve the numbers and theyve done this before. When george cleany was on the first season, they decided to replace him and thats when if they to want put a mask on Fred Thompson and i think you can back up the brinks truck. [laughter]. Stuart okay. I can see youre there in los angeles. Youre in the middle of hollywood, youre in the middle have california, youve got a dreadful drought. Ive got to go back to my initial question. Is Climate Change a drabby question for movie goers. No. Its a huge subject for Prime Minister and studio expectations but as you can see, movie gories dont want to be preached to. Its about spending your 15 on a ticket, did going in, buying had your 45 dr pepper, consuming 3,000 calories of popcorn and escaping the world for three and a half hours. If you want to be preached to, go to any school in california. Stuart whats this about 15 . You pay 15 for a movie in california . Thats if you go to the matinee. Stuart i go to the matinee, i mean i go to the Senior Citizens 12 00 noon showing on sunday and get in for for one minute about 8. 15 . Are you kidding me . Well, being that im the cheapest person in the plant i need to go to your theater. Stuart i didnt that know. Im glad you told me about all this. You can come back any time you would like. Thank you. Stuart youre. 15 . 15. You know, i think disney is trying to before i would, bill, a franchise because their theme parks are political into sections. Theyve got frontier land, toon town, i would be going to frontier land. Stuart would you pay 15 to go see a money movie . No. Stuart that was the question.
