Trumps win gives him 89 delegate that is boost total delegate count to 845, thats about 392 shy of the 1237 need today clinch the nomination. He needed to take 53 of the remaining 734 delegates in order to clinch that nomination. Ted cruz is third place finish gave him no delegates keeping him at 559 and kasich second place finish awarded him three delegates last night. That bumped his number to 147. Three delegates from new york have yet to be awarded. Over in the democratic side, Hillary Clinton score add a doubledigit victory and 60 to sanders 42 . Putting her total now at 1893 ahead of sanders 1,180. Adam sapiro standing with more. Adam you might say theres no rest for the weary or at least the winners. Last night rallying supporters and as expected, but as you pointed out by 60 in an election where people said at least opponents that he never earned more than 50 . Today mr. Trump is on the road. Nobody should be given delegates, which is a ticket to victory and its not a fair ticket and even though we are leading by a lot and we cant be caught, its impossible to catch us, nobody should take delegates and claim victory unless they get those delegates with voters and voting. Thats whats going to happen. And you watch because the people arent going to stand for it. Its a crocked system. Adam and so Hillary Clinton is also on the road today, she will be campaigning in order to keep her momentum going now that she has won the new york primary. She rallied her supporters in midtown last night and turned her attention not to the process or the delegate count but donald trump. Donald trump and ted cruz are pushing idea thats decisive and frankly dangerous. Returning to trickled down economics opposing any increase in the minimum wage, restricting a womens right to make her own healthcare decision. Adam mrs. Maria i know that california and indiana look good for ted cruz. But let me get your take on this, because, you know, a lot of people have spoken about ted cruz having a really good ground game and much more organized by the way than donald trump and, yet, when he saw that new york may not be a star place for him, he moved forward, he campaigned in pennsylvania and new york. Do you think he needed to do more . No, thats what we are doing all along. Despite the fact that donald trump won his home state, which could be expected. You know, again, you know, john kasich won his own state of ohio even though he hasnt won any states before that or since. Maria yeah. Going forward we are going to continue to have a strong organization. Lets be clear. Whats happening on the ground outside of new york, the Republican Base, the grassroots Republican Base of this party is uniting behind senator cruz and rejecting donald trump. The vast majority of Americans Still do not want donald trump to be nominee because he goes onto lose against Hillary Clinton. Maria here is steve moore. Where do you see the firewall . Im looking at some of the polling results in states like maryland, pennsylvania, delaware. Maria indiana. Tell me the states that ted cruz has to win to make a claim and youre there in california, you ran the Republican Party there. Do you think that ted cruz can beat donald trump in california . So in terms of Going Forward, this remains a fight to win delegates as we go forward and ultimately thats the reflection of the vote. Donald trump is not winning the majority of the delegates because hes not winning the majority of the Republican Party even though everyone knows him and has an opinion about him. Hes trapped in his own brand. As we go forward, we continue to pick up delegates one state at a Time Beginning with those states on april 26th through the month of may. In california we have been orgdzing for a year. We just released a list of 50 republican elected officials state and local who have endorsed senator cruz, more announcements coming up very, very shortly. Senator cruz will be speaking at the California Republican convention. We will see if donald trump keeps commitment to be there and cancels like he cancels on colorado. We will do well in the state of california. Senator cruz goes to every state and asks for the support in every state. At tend of the day, we continue to see that consolidation of the Republican Base and remember, the Republican Base in california is conservative and ted cruz is approving conservative on that while donald trump has been busy funding the top three democrat elected officials in california. Sandra ron, lets talk about numbers for a second. Your former Communications Director rick tyler says that cruz must keep trump 100 delegates from the majority to make a strong case for a contested convention acknowledging that theres no path to 1237 for ted cruz at this point. What sort of numbers do you have to put up as far as delegates to make a strong case for the contested convention . Well, i think we are going to go into this convention probably no candidate is going to get the 1237 majority necessary in order to win it on the first ballot and then we will go to the judgment of individual delegates most of whom will be unbound, in my home state is on the third ballot. Thats where judgment comes into play. People are going to see donald trump for who he really is. Theres failed business dealings, troubles in his own campaign and its very clear that he cannot mount a successful campaign. We are seven weeks from end of the process and staff is going to be busy where their desks are and how they get their email on the phone because of the chaos in his own campaign that he controls. Maria why do you think he did not get the support of evangelicals . They went largely for trump. Two to one. Maria two to one. Can you explain that . Its clear that the evangelical vote is not monolithic. We saw in south carolina, for example, the state thats overwhelming evangelical that people who live along the coast voted differently than people who live inland who voted differently than people in the state capitol. Maria interesting. Let me get your take on ted cruz calling himself an outsider last night. During a surprising parallel to Bernie Sanders, listen to this, i would like to get your reaction. This is the year of the outsider. Im an outsider, Bernie Sanders is an outsider. Both with the same diagnosis but both with very different paths to healing. Maria interesting that he chose to look at Bernie Sanders. Yeah, this is interesting, you probably dont find two candidates mentioned in the same sentence very often. You know, one thing is true that everyone knows that senator cruz went to the senate and its the same man he is today as he was when he was elected to the senate from the state of texas. And that is someone who is challenging the status quo and the leadership in both parties who he has called out over and over again and hes someone who is consistently railed against the Washington Cartel of lobbyist and people on wall street and in a system that has not served the American People very well. Of course, Bernie Sanders has a politly bizarre, socialist vision that look fond in places like cuba and the like. Youre not going to find many similarities between those two candidates. Theres something to be said for people being an outsider, republicans are looking for candidate who is both a conservative and has proven that he could challenge that status quo in washington. And thats what senator cruz has done and thats why five former rivalses of his, former candidates, republican candidates in this cycle have come on board to support and people like Carly Fiorina and Governor Scott walker and Lindsey Graham and the like. It is on a casebycase basis but sometimes it is cheaper, stagnant wages and people are upset at the ballot box because wages are stagnating or going down and it doesnt give us capacity to buy the cost product even when cheaper because any economist will tell you two thirds of all Economic Activity is based on consumer spending. People have to be employed, have money in the pockets to contribute to the us economy and keep the economy going and prosperity going and that wont happen if we spend time in unemployment lines. One of the problems here is the tax burden in the us regulatory burden, i do buy american, i look for the american label but we in government put our american producers at a disadvantage. Whether you focus on that aspect of why people arent buying american. Yes, the National Association of manufacturers came out and said compared to the 9 largest trading partners it costs american producers 22 more to make more product but if taxes are tariffs and tariff taxes that is a tariff on ourselves and we only put a 3 average tariff on these products a we are subsidizing imports. You expect him to do well in pennsylvania, maryland and those states in the northeast but right now 80 going to be clinton versus trump and that is a pretty high number. 80 . Maria that is what it looks like. How surprised were you about ted cruz and the week showing, you knew he would have a week showing but it was worse than some people thought. If you look at a share of the voting public, the evangelicals, they went for trump, not the most conservative, ted cruz. The new york values thing did him in in new york and couldnt get over that. Here in the empire state, i have lived here most of my life at the evangelical movement is not as strong as it is in the south so a purely political vote, hometown guy, there is a little deception at play. We have donald trump on the factor tonight because there are not a lot of republicans in new york, so trump gets 60 of the republican vote, if he goes up against Hillary Clinton, i cant see him when in new york in november. If he can make inroads, he will be president but at this point you got to look at the numbers and the numbers stack up for Hillary Clinton in the big states like california, illinois and new york. Maria last night in his victory speech he said this morning he is taking a flight to pennsylvania and from there to indiana. We know these are two States Ted Cruz has been doubling down on. He has been in pennsylvania a lot and the ted Cruz Campaign think they have got indiana wrapped up as well in terms of delegates. Where do you think the focus goes now . Big night tuesday night with a host of primaries. I think trump does well next tuesday night in the northeast. Indiana ted cruz could win but every victory trump gets and the same thing is true for Hillary Clinton, psychology kicks in, they are going to be the nominees so tonight when you watch a Cable News Program like mine that will be the prevailing wisdom that sees through to people. Ted cruz is up against it right now. I dont see how they deny trump the nomination. Maria what is your take on john kasich . Unless everything blows up you never know in politics. Hillary clinton could be indicted and that would take her out of the race and sanders is going to hang on to see what the fbi says. Same on the republican side. If something dramatic happens, somebody makes a huge mistake, the people that were still in get considered. Everything will stay the same until the convention. Maria in terms of hillary mentioning moments ago, james comey said he wants the fbi investigation wrapped up by the end of may. That is at the end of the important primaries. Comey has to stay to that because he has a responsibility to the people of the United States to put forward what he has. What is your take on that . Same thing in both parties. The democratic establishment does not want Bernie Sanders because they know he wouldnt win. They will do everything they can to take the nomination away from him. On the other side the republican establishment does not want donald trump, they believe he is going to get they are trying everything they can. And here is why one voter put in his ballot for Hillary Clinton yesterday. I dont like Hillary Clinton, i never did like her. I think her husband was a great president. Hes not going to be the president , she is going to be the president is clear to me, but i do believe that sees in a position because of her experience, because of her work, because of her ability to come back up that she could do a good president of the United States. Probably turning this country back to the values that made it great and if you do that, youll solve most of the problems because i think that people that put together the declaration of independence and the constitution were pretty smart people and those are timeless values and were so off base. You know, the last time i was on with you, there was reference to the crowds that they were getting. And the candidate was with huge crowds before he was crushed by ronald reagan. Hes over 51 in two sates, vermont and new hampshire. Its over and your viewers need to come to terms with that. Are there people who dont like Hillary Clinton like this guy in connecticut . Of course, but the fact is that the polls have consistently trump was beating hillary in january by three, then tied, up three, up six, now, 9, 10, 11. Its not looking good for trump. Do you agree that the democratic nomination is over, hillarys got it . I think na bernie has done great things getting out the vote, but when you win ohio, florida, and new york by double digits, okay, its over for the Democratic Party and the truth is that bernie should continue to be in the race and we should get out the vote and get the excitement, but its going to be Hillary Clinton versus donald trump. Those with the biggest amount of popular vote, the biggest amount of delegates will be there as the two nominees. Maria front runner donald trump says its mathematically impossible for ted cruz to get enough delegates for the nomination. Earlier in the show i asked cruz spokesperson whats next . Going forward, well have a strong organization. Lets be clear, whats happening outside of new york, the grass roots Republican Base is going for this guy and vast majority of them dont want donald trump because they will not beat Hillary Clinton. The fact of the matter is we did expect mr. Trump to win this state and ted cruz has been and his campaign has been in california for a year. That is going to pay off. So youre still looking at mr. Trump needing to get 53 of the remaining delegates, its certainly possible, but what youre looking at on both sides from the democrats, last night hillarys victory, she only got about 30 more delegates than mr. Sanders, so, this is still about, while he cant necessarily get to the delegates because of the assigned delegates, the super delegates, both parties have to now think about the division amongst the grass roots and their donors. Its not just winning with the numbers, its winning hearts and minds and thinking people together, and mr. Sanders millennial, 80 voting for mr. Sanders, this is their first excitement and theyre not excited about hillary and when it comes to mr. Cruzs voters, i prefer him, but at the same time if its mr. Trump, im with that nominee 200 , the issue is economy and jobs, when it comes to hillary, she doesnt have a plan, the republicans will, and mr. Trump in particular. Sandra wall street has a loud message, Bernie Sanders has had a talked about hillarys ties with wall street. Among voters, wall street helps the economy and among democrats, 30 . Thats a huge portion of the campaign. Bernie sanders, Hillary Clinton the nominee goes against donald trump, do Bernie Sanders supporters turn to donald trump . Im not sure how many times to respectfully disagree, cruz or trump, the. A the swing states go to hillary and shell do wellments well. Were looking at enthusiasm. And where trump unfavorability is the highest, shes crushing trump in polling. No, shes not. Thats an exaggeration. The delegates, just to be clear shes 25 ahead of bernie on pledge delegates. 25 on pledged so its not like its that close, shes over 250 above on edge mr. Maria thats a good point. Super delegates count and shes 700 above there. Make sure were factual. Maria its not a slamdunk that the bernie supporters could go to hillary. They could stay home. And thats what the republicans need to cling do, and you know, its fantastical thinking. Shes under investigation, lets be clear. Do millennials care about womens rates, labor rights, u. S. Standing in the world, cause if they do, theres a chasm of difference between hillary and trump and even if they going to hurt everyone, but obamas polling is ahead of reagan at the same point in flair presidency. Ments we see tremendous potential, were already in 90 countries, but the big opportunity for harley growthwise is in asia and a lot of the work with the tpp addresses some of the barriers that are in the way of our growth in asia and we are a u. S. Company manufacturing almost all of our products in the United States which is good for america when we can and have a freer trade. And then theres a lot of debate going on about the strength versus the weakness of the dollar and obviously you do better when we have a weaker dollar would be my gut. Maria the strong dollar must hurt. The strong dollar hit us, almost every global currency weakened radically, 25, 30 range and most of our competition is not u. S. So immediately, they have that advantage, which theyve taken typically in pricing and thats why the competition has gone up so much in the u. S. , what we see, right, is our nonu. S. Sales which are typically currency denominated as well and its a double hit and thats why weve stepped up. Maria how do you allocate your capital. What do you want to invest in the rest of the year . Our position on were focused on running a Strong Company and returning value to shareholders, so the disciplined investments that we make in developing the business for the future and continuing to run a strong area, thats excess cash to shareholders, its important that we continue to reinvest in the corps strength of haar core strengths of Harley Davidson. You say your core buyers are 35 and older men. How do you get the younger generation. Maria and women youve focused on. What are you doing for advertising or changing . Its a great question and another bright spot. Not just in this quarters results, but the work for the past five or six years, weve had the outreach segments that are women, africanamericans, historics, young adults and our core customers. Core remains important, its almost 60 or a little over 60 of u. S. Sales, so those, the effort that weve made in outreach, which is advertising, which is dealer training, which is products, is part of what has end had us move the mix of outreach from about 34 to 35 .
