Street journalnbc news poll. Quinnipiac university poll. And the investors business daily poll. Lets get to the participants. In the first debate, the candidates will be ranked by their polling. Governor Chris Christie, former governor Mike Huckabee, governor bobby jindal, former senator Rick Santorum. Those are the four candidates in the first debate. It airs at 7 00 p. M. Eastern, right here on the Fox Business Network from milwaukee, wisconsin next tuesday. For the second debate, there will be eight candidates participating. That debate begins at 9 00 p. M. Eastern time. It will feature candidates who scored 2. 5 or higher based on an average of those four most recent national polls. So those eight candidates are ranked by their polling. Donald trump, dr. Ben carson, senator marco rubio, senator ted cruz, governor, former governor jeb bush, governor john kasich, following Carly Fiorina in that lineup, and then rounding it out, senator rand paul. Those are the eight candidates who will be appearing in the second debate here on the Fox Business Network from milwaukee. The debate begins again at 9 00 p. M. Eastern time. Joining us former reagan political director, fox news political analyst, ed rollins, good to see you. What do you think . Thats spectacular. It is spectacular, and the second tier poll had interesting people, and they may have a better chance of getting attention, and i think that obviously is narrowing it to eight on the big stage will be a much better debate. These debates have driven this all the way, and to a certain extent, a fair way of doing it. Its going to be much better entertainment. Lou and i should point out all four polls were conducted over the period from the end of the last debate, the third debate, until now, and culminating with the most recent poll. But first, 1 in at least one poll. Thats pretty generous, it seems to me at least. Its generous, and as i said, the polls have driven the race. Theyre out campaigning, but it will have an impact on raising money, some of those havent raised money and its going to be hard to make a campaign. But someone like Mike Huckabee is a great debater, he has to be the star on the stage with other good debaters. This will be a much better show. The eight on the big stage, obviously, certainly have more room and space to perform. Trump is back on top, back to be center stage again, and see how that goes. Lou you know, thats one of the great things about the debates, theres something new each and every time, you couldnt write the scripts. You could not write the scripts. And we know that next tuesday will be no different. The standards. 2. 5 to be in the second debate. Your thoughts about that as the benchmark . I think if you dont have if you have anything less than that, youre not viable at this time. You dont have money. You keep moving on. Pretty soon at this point in time, close to the iowa, 90 days away. If youre not putting support together, not raising money, youre not being a viable candidate, youre not going to make it. To those who have a shot at it, this is good forum to move forward. Lou i want to take a second to take note that my colleagues, sandra smith and trish regan will be moderating the first debate and neil cavuto and Maria Bartiromo the second. 7 00 for the first, 9 00 eastern time for the second debate. As we look at the polling thats going on right now, theres an issue as to which of these candidates is on top one moment to the next, if you look at the real clear politics average, its an extraordinary tight race between dr. Ben carson and donald trump. How much conviction do you believe is out there for the candidates at this early stage. We are 90 days away from iowa. They held for a while. Not like theyre going to go away automatically. Some may evaporate, people have made decisions on trump and carson. Lou you think so . I think they have. If they faulter and dont do well in the debate, something may change it. These two guys are serious candidates when you get into iowa and new hampshire. Lou as we look at polls, are those polls, there are quite a number of polls. Those are the most wellregarded polls, put it that way, and the most reliable. Do you agree with that . I do, and theyre current, post the last debate, and to a certain extent, as fair a way as can you do it, you had to narrow the field. Several people in the race have been eliminated in the debate stage that probably shouldnt be there, so i think this is a very strong field, and it may move around a little bit before we get on iowa and new hampshire. Lou interesting to see fiorina in this poll. She gained her strength in the first debate, and she has since making that, well, that solid, you can, depending who youre talking to solid absolutely terrific performance, she has been a contender and moved up in the polls . She has, and again, the candidates that for the second debate are pretty darn good candidates and have a great resume and may have more time to push issues, and someone may sit there and say, i kind of like that person. Let me take a second look at them. Thats a good thing. Lou yeah, the republicans this year are putting their wares forward for the voters. Not only that. The base is more important and this will be more important because its the first one really done in a concise, effective way. Lou all right. Lou were looking forward to it, and actually, lou, the issue you bring up, immigration is one of the issues that i probably disagree the most with, the people on that stage. And you know, we put out a very comprehensive plan that talks about limiting the number of both illegal and legal immigrants in this country. Returning Illegal Immigrants back to the home countries. No one has tenant position i have of reducing the number of legal immigrants to make sure American Workers arent hurt with the result of low skilled workers coming into the country, and actually not providing amnesty. Everybody else in the republican field has been clear that theyre going to allow people here illegally to stay in perpetuity and im the only one who stands on the issue. Lou trump says hes going to send people back . And says all but the good once. I dont know what that means. Its a little looser translation. Lou yeah, i think what it means in terms of the candidates and the primary elections approaching is its early days. But i want to turn to kates law and the issue of immigration. Illegal immigration in particular. Kates law, for reid to block this, to stand up and block it is one of the most stunning things ive seen, as you know our colleague bill oreilly has been pushing this issue from the very, the very beginning, you have been supporting it, a handful from the very beginning. But for this to die this way because of the rules of the senate which are being manipulated by an obstinant obstructionist like harry reid is breathtaking. Remember, 41 colleagues on the democratic side are if not every democrat sided with him. If he didnt have the support of the entire Democratic Caucus and president obama, that bill would have passed. Its not just harry reid, not just a tactic. This was an attempt to use the laws and rules of the senate to legitimately block this bill. You cant do it unless have you 41 votes, and he did. You have to look at it this way. The democrats unfortunately have become so wedded to power, and they are attached to certain voter groups, and theyre going to do nothing other than try to spike up interest and spike up resentment within the voter groups. Thats what theyre trying to do here. Instead of looking at the best interest of america, and i might add people within the voter groups. Make this into a racial issue and try to spike up support within that group. Lou you know, but theyve been doing it for so long, and seems the Republican Party does not have good rejoinders to what is straightforwardly a simple political propaganda, and some clever maneuvering from time to time on the issue. Let me turn, if i may, to where we are with the Republican Party. Kentucky, rolling back marijuana inflation ohio. Have you got to be encouraged by the developments and otherwise across the country. We had a good night and some bad. In pennsylvania, not such a good night. The democrats swept everything in our state. Its a mixed bag in these offyear elections, encouraged by kentucky. The polls were off by about 10 points, so i think we need to focus, as you mentioned, we were talking earlier. More on the issues. What the candidate have to bring to the table. I think one of the reasons were not winning the immigration issue, lou is were attacking it the wrong way. We need to talk to all workers, people who immigrated legally and people born here, and how it affects them . How it affects the economy of this country . That in and of itself is disgusting in my opinion and reprehensible to use children to spout obscenities and vulgarities against your political opponent or anyone else but it is so stupidly considered because of the exploitation of the children. Group behind this video calls itself deport racism, a pac registered just since september, and says its funded by individual donors. There are no public Financial Reports available, and those donors, their names are not public either, and thats the way they want it, and after watching that, you can understand why. The goal of that pac is to fight, quote, antilatino and antiimmigrant racism in the 2016 election. The groups leader, a fellow called Luke Montgomery describes himself as an activist, democratic digital strategist and not surprisingly he is a supporter of Hillary Clinton. Supporting her for president and leading the pack called bill for first lady 2016. But deport racism, taking its antitrump campaign a step further. Offering a 5,000 bounty to anyone who disrupts trump while he hosts saturday night live this weekend by yelling out deport racism or trump is a racist. That is simply pitiful. So i seldom offer political candidates advice. They seldom ask for it, even less frequently. But let me suggest donald trump should turn the groups plan against him. Invite everyone in the audience to shout out deport racism, something every american could get behind and with that trump can announce hes taking his first action to create prosperity. I definitely expect this to be fair and balanced unlike the last one we saw. Secondly interesting, we see a shakeup, we see the field narrow in the sense now have you 8 people on the main stage and 4 people knocking out Lindsey Graham too, who i thought in the last debate did very well, and you saw governor mitt romney tweet he had a stellar performance and should have been on the main stage. With Chris Christie having the performance he did, which cnbc allowed him to have, hes not on the main stage anymore, and seeing more of a shakeup and the position has changed. All of the candidates acknowledge their strengths and weaknesses in the last debate and the cnbc debate let them shine, they had the standout moments. Lou you said something i didnt hear, i didnt hear anybody up there acknowledge weaknesses, i did hear a lot of strengths. Well, i heard a lot of weaknesses after the fact, i think. Lou i think thats probably right. Chris, the structure of the debate, the first debate of the evening at 7 00, the second at 9 00, four in the first and eight in the second. It looks like, it looks like he has the potential to be, i think, the best debate of the series. Well, i think chances are pretty good, and the pickens have been slim so far quite honestly. It looks more manageable with eight on the main stage with, four at the kids table, Chris Christie will probably be loud in complaints for the next couple of days, but also i would expect, i would expect it to be a much more serious debate. The moderators are much more serious people, not an ambush special. It will be substantive. Actually on the economy instead of all the stuff in the last debate. Ive got high expectations. What was that stuff, ed . Your thoughts. First debate is substantive people. You have the two winners of the last two Iowa Caucuses there, huckabee and santorum, both articulate guys. Christie is articulate and bobby jindal. This is the establishment candidates, people who thought in the early stages might evolve. I think in the second debate its interesting, you have trump back front and center and carson but equally as important, everybody is an outsider except for bush and kasich, and theyre kind of the establishment candidates. Interesting to see the dynamic. Lou it is. I want to turn to that trump web ad by the this group, which to me viciously exploit children. Ashley, your reaction . I mean any time you use xhrn in a manner like that its despicable. They have a point in the sense that the gop does need to be reaching out to hispanic voters lou wait a minute, wait a minute, i cant let that go by, thats not the point of that ad at all. That is an absurdity. Yes, but they could have taken Something Like that and made that a reality. They could have had families on there talking. Lou that is reprehensible and every democrat. Hold on. Lou no, no, you hold on. Every democrat ought to apologize for the nonsense. Im saying it was disgusting to use children like that, and the language is more disgusting and the fact that Donald Trumps comments were vulgar, they had a point. To match that with vulgarity of its own with children is disgusting. The gop needs to reach out to hispanic voters. That doesnt have anything to do with it. It is violent, reprehensible, despicable, vulgar, and the people behind it have produced another ad a few months ago, i played both ads on my radio show today. Its a form of child abuse, if no laws have been broken, perhaps some laws should have been broken, and if this is what we expect from one of our major parties in the United States of america, if this is legitimate political discourse, then we truly are doomed.
