So what does that tell me . That actually points towards, you know what . Maybe the market is finally by buying this rally. We had a ugly selloff in june and a wicked rally back. Now the market is slowing down. Slow rallies are rallies i can believe in. Thats you know what . We may test the 1700 level and maybe 1725. Weve seen all the metrics, fear indicators that the market is on edge really slow down. When do i think well know our answer . A week from friday when we get nonfarm payrolls. I think that is going to be the key indicator. It will tell us where the 10year is going. The 10year is the dog wagging the whole markets tail. If the 10year stops moving or the 10year stopping moving was the key that allowed the market to rally back. Liz right. Once the 10year got control, s ps took off. If we see that continue, who nose where we go. 1725, 1150, entirely possible. Liz lets bring in joe meyer. He buys a lot of stock. He, joe, do you like equities here . Does a day like today make you more bullish or you want to see what happens with the big names like at t and apple . Liz,no, im still pretty bullish. I market low we had recently is good for the market. Im key on three areas really. One is, if you look at the Payment Processing companies i think theyre going to be great as we go forward in this market. The natural gas play in the u. S. Will be strong for us. And i think that, the coop of back offices are a great opportunity and i think that theyre really going to rally as we move forward here. David joe, hang in there. You too, mark. We do have numbers for at t. Jo ling, go ahead. Thats right, we do. We have a 67 cents earnings per share which is slight miss on the 68 cents eps estimate. There is slight beat on earnings, 32. 1 billion, versus 31. 8 billion. What is interesting about this, mobile data grown 20 . 19. 8 according to the press release from at t. Total wireless revenue which is something that investors are watching, that revenue is 17. 29 billion. So well continue to dig through this. Certainly all eyes are on various Revenue Streams especially wireless for at t, guys. Liz the stock is barely moving here. I think the markets are trying to absorb all the headlines here, david. And youre talking about wireless subscriber, arpu increased 1. 8 . Not a huge jump yearoveryear. David not at all. The big question whether they paid their offering too much or too little for leap. You may have seen cricket . That is the product line for leap which is wireless service, International Wireless service that offers a flat rate service. Pay per phone, pay per use, rather than a fixed longterm contract. They offered 15 a share for that company and it is now over 17 a share. So, liz, they may have to actually pay more. I think at love investors are looking to see how much it has to pay for leap. Liz lets go back to joe. We interrupted you and then your earpiece popped out. You like fiserv. You like visa. When youre picking these names why specifically in Financial Services do you think that these are names that are going to do better in what still appears to be a tentative economy . Liz, i think the key to those companies is the fact that they have got a fantastic recurring revenue product. So the more the market grows the faster they will grow with the market. For example, fiserv has done some great acquisitions. They service over 6,000 banks across the United States so they really have a great economy of scale. Visa is a great play on the consumer. Whether the consumer is spending a lot or a little theyre using their cards a lot more. Weve been in the debit and credit caad space before of the we love that industry. And the Payment Processing companies are really poised to take advantage of this marketplace and leverage their economies of scale. David joe, youre a believer in natural gas. A lot of us are particularly if we can become a selfsufficient nation otherwise. We have the ceo of ryder system he is converting a lot of his trucks to natural gas. How do you make the play on natural gas if you believe it in future . Chart industries. Has been a home run. It has gone up 14 pun since 08. It is a fantastic company. 1400 . Theyre both infrastructure plays where you have a great opportunity to make some money, even if the price of natural gas stays low as we see more supply on hand these are the companies that will be supplying the services that go along with the discovery of natural gas and pumping of natural gas . Theyre the pick and shovels right . You want to be in the pick and shovel business. Liz let me get back to Mark Sebastion. Im looking where the s p appears to have settled, 1692. Were a here eight points away from 1700. Are we going to get there by the end of this week . Poor mark, were pushing him to make all kinds of crystal ball announcements. Given a rope he will take it. Seldom right but never in doubt i say. Liz exactly. 1700 is entirely possible. Apple is a big portion of the s p 500. Its a big player in that. David moving on, shares of Truck Leasing and rental Company Ryder System fell following its Earnings Release this morning. While the company saw impressive growth during the last quarter and bottom line it still missed on revenue at the top. Liz where is ryder still facing challenges . How will higher gasoline prices affect the business Going Forward . Its a widespread business so lets talk about it. We have the chairman and ceo in a fox business exclusive. We love your company to talk about it because you give us a sense, it is almost a proxy with what is happening with shipping what is happening with all kinds of issues when it comes to trucking and comes to logistics for other companies. Give us the good news first. I will give you the softball. Why not. Youre in the business of doing pretty well in most cases. What happened here and what do you think is the best part of this report . Well, liz, the good news is we had good Earnings Growth yearoveryear. 15 Earnings Growth and also we had good Revenue Growth and really across both segments. Most importantly within those segments it was our core contractual businesses, our fullservice leasing where we lease trucks to commercial customers and our logistics and supply chain business that really drove the earnings for the company yearoveryear. So that was certainly the positive part of the story. Liz we just had on the screen that oh, so slight miss on the revenue and it is amazing to see a stock, even punished in a minor way when it comes to just a slight miss but the way the market interprets it is that you guys arent going to see the kind of growth that investors love to see right now . Right. Theres a couple things and really the biggest driver for the topline miss is really some softness were experiencing in our u. K. , in our u. K. Fleet management business and that is just driven bit softer economy in the u. K. The gdp there is at sub1 . Despite all the excitement around the royal baby were still seeing the economy a bit soft out in thed but, robert, s it also the soft economy here . Because the revenue miss is a concern. A lot of people think whats happened over in europe may be beginning to bottom out a little bit but there are still a lot of questions whether were slowing down even further here . Here i think its a mixed story. Our rental business came in better than expected. That would tell you there is some Economic Activity there is product moving around and customers are renting trucks in order to fulfill that, however, that is being offset by the fact that, theyre renting rather than leasing, rather than signing up for some of these longerterm contracts. So the uncertainty in the economy here is impacting some of the topline growth. Liz what about gasoline prices . As we look at Something Like that as it gets higher, im shocked that theres a little bit of delay between crude oil jumping to 10, 10dollars a barrel because this number will definitely go higher if the per barrel prices are sustained. How will that affect rider system . Well, fuel at ryder is primarily a passthrough so it does affect us to the extent it affects our customers. As fuel prices impact them and slows business down that will affect us, but fuel is a passthrough where we sell fuel to our customers or typically pass it through to our customers in our logistics business. David but you can change that dynamic with natural gas. This is a very exciting component what youre doing. People are pricing out what they would be saving if they went by natural gas instead of gasoline and the saving is now enormous. Explain, i know you have a couple of Natural Gas Service stations in california, some new ones to talk about but how do you range it for the entire country so you can really bring out a big feet of natural gas trucks . Thats correct. Were, i think were uniquely positioned to really help with the adoption of natural gas here in the u. S. We rent trucks. So obviously as we get more natural gas trucks into our rental fleet that will allow fleet fleets to try out natural gas trucks before they decide to commit to lease or purchase. Were an expert of maintenance. We have a network of maintenance locations. As we retrofit those locations were able to maintain the vehicles for our customers. We also provide leases. So over time as customers want to jump into these vehicles as part of their regular fleet we also can provide the leasing capability. Most importantly we have a very strong Safety Culture at ryder. This kind of business you really do have to focus on safety and that is something we bring to the table. So i think david weve got to go, weve got to go but i have to ask how much after saving would natural be over gasoline . Are you spending half as much if you have a natural gas truck . It could be anywhere up to half as much the savings that you get from natural gas, correct. David it is the wave of the future. Thats correct. Its good for our customers. They save money. A mixed day on wall street with the dow the only major index posting gains the dow climbed to a new record though, its 28th of the year. The s p and nasdaq ended the day slightly lower. The u. S. Dollar falling to a onemonth low as investors continue to scale back bullish bets on the greenback. The euro rose for a Third Straight day hitting a intraday high of 1. 32. Well it looks like it is really thanks to the iphone numbers. 31. 2 million which is a record for the june quarter, handily beating estimates of 26. 1 million. That is great news. Iphone is one of the core Profit Centers for the company. All the other headlines were solid as well. On bottom line, profits of 7. 47 a quarter. David she will last, forgive me for interrupting. We were expecting 26. 5 million iphones . This 31. 2 million would be a significant beat on number of iphones sold . A very significant beat. This is what Everyone Wants to see. Does apple have the iphone magic. If you look at what the company delivered this quarter, seems like they do. Revenue for the quarter coming in higher than expectations. 35. 3 million, versus estimates of 35 billion, excuse me. Also gross margin, this is something a lot of analysts on the street were looking for. As apple starts to discount its product and different price ranges and product mix a lot of people were worried about pressure on the gross margin. It loose like apple beating estimates there. 36. 9 beating estimates of 36. 7 so overall a good quarter. Ipad number of units, 14. 6 million david a slight beat. Liz yeah. Listen, 17 million a year ago. So certainly excitement wayneed just a bit. Bgc, colin gillis is one of the smartest guys on the street, right, sheila, he is calling for 16. 5 million. Do you think the discrepancy between him and what the rest of the market was looking for it might affect the market afterwards . Doesnt seem to look like it after you see what the tock is doing afterhours. It is popping. A lot much issues with the mini i pads, versus the regular ipads. That could be inventory issues. Right now the market and investors do seem to be looking at that. Everyone is focused on the iphone number. Afterhours popping like crazy. Now it is settling down a little more. What do you think about the numbers . David, probably looks like numbers are in line with expectations. Topeka capital began estimate for ipads, 14. 5 billion. Was 14. 6 million. That was on low end of expectations. I was little higher. 17, 18 million ipads. A little below expectations but not concerning. You mentioned Gross Margins on the end, both the Gross Margins which we havent gotten to, not seeing competitive pressures. Were not seeing movement of inventory on the shelves for upcoming september quarter. David john, i have to say we just had the chair of ryder system on talking about how they missed revenues. So many people are beat thing the bottom line but missing revenue. That didnt happen in apple. Despite a downturn of Consumer Spending it looked like it would affect apple but it didnt. At the expense of highend phone manufacturers who reported misses. Shows you the strength of apple in the market today. Liz now comes the question. We havent seen anything yet. We may have to wait for a investor call, sheila. Tim cook, what type of product he will announce . Some people say there has been a real product drought. We need to see bigger news on say, a redone or reinvigorated ipad mini or perhaps that iwatch. Maybe apple tv. Nobody is holding their breath for that because we havent seen it time and time again. What about you, what are you looking for . As far as new product introductions, no expectations at all. Tim cook already gave us the roadmap for when he says new products will come out. Late 2013 and 2014. No one is expecting that now. Because we did get that numbers. For the fourth quarter, the company is saying 37 billion, between further four andn. That is a little shy what the street was expecting. The range was 34 to 43 billion a little on the light side perhaps why youre seeing the stock come down a little bit in the immediate pop we saw in the aftermarket. Liz but still higher.
