Liz good afternoon, everybody. Im liz claman. The last hour of trading. Breaking news right now in the hamper competitive world of smart phone technology. Google smart from being revealed to the public for the first time happening right now. Lets go to Dennis Kneale for the breaking news. Reporter and we have some detail. Remember, they pay over 12 and 12 billion for this company. It has done nothing ever since. But the outcomes a new phone that will hit stores by the end of august, available first on at t. Later moves out to sprint, verizon, tmobile. And the first pictures of this duty. And also it will be made in america, made in fort worth. Although it is not like those are helping apple all that much. Today no cell phone or small smart phone is up phone at all. You have a camera with quick you take a photo in two seconds which is kind of cool. The phone is a sleepy twisted. The viewfinder pops up. Touch anywhere on the screen and it takes a photo. 10 million pixels. Fortyone. It has acted display. Instead of your phone blinking, it flashes icons on the home screen to let you know. It will prioritize notifications suggested price 200. 50 extra. Now some numbers. Understand just how fast this self on market moves. If you slip and all your dead. Motorolas share used to be a world beating company. The share of that business now is less than 1 . Samsung, 30 percent, apple 13. Let cannolis. Motorola, less than 1 . I think that little sign might be turned the wrong way. And since the page 12 and a half billion for motorola, close that deal in may of 2012. I just counted in the company has run operating losses. The most recent loss in the june quarter was 343 million. You know, we will see if this new phone can manage to turn that around. Very hard for any attack brand. See blackberry. Liz very true. What numbers to the need to see as far as sales are concerned . Reporter i dont have that number, but let me go ahead and settle for millions. Liz we will ask. Coming up, he is going to talk with us about all of that. Can motorola and who will capture the attention and money from consumers and steel business away from Market Leader samsung and apple . Then make the pitch coming up in just a few minutes. The man behind the new phone. And thank you to Dennis Kneale. E do have google, the parent of one and 2 3 percent. There have been a million leaks on this thing. A million. So a slight move right now of of highs of the session. Bloodstock to dennis about all of this and much more when he comes live in just a few minutes. We will take a look to some of this to top stories. Apple just regained its crown. It now has a market cap of just over 411 billion. It is important to point out is not because of anything spectacular. Exxon mobile stuff is down one 1 3 after releasing disappointing earnings. The two behemoths have traded places back and forth several times and ushered a do so again. At the moment apple is the market cant gang. The most important number traders and investors are watching today was not google, apple, but the weekly u. S. Jobless claims. Thats because it can offer pretty much clear glimpse into tomorrows he easily important monthly jobs report. The number of americans filing for firsttime Unemployment Benefits last week fell by 19,000. Thats a good sign. The number, 326,000, the lowest level since early 2008. The major u. S. Indices, you can see in all day long. They reacted positively. Right now you can see the debt jones industrials charging ahead. Up 128 points, up 150. So just let me off of flies. A murmur what happened yesterday it big gains. We have great gains and then there was a lot of selling in the end. This could happen. Well be watching it right here. And then we also got a big manufacturing data. And i estimate it data shows expansion in manufacturing. Lets bring in the traders. Data, our earnings, yet at new smart phone. Lets get right to the floor show. I begin with martin newton, always looking of the members of the charts. What do you see in your pile of numbers and charts that indicate that we can all on to a rally like this . Its a pretty decisive day. As we mentioned, we are managing to hold near highs of the session. Thats just the u. S. Prices worldwide. The emerging markets. Ages of. Were obviously holding up 1 . After having gone sideways, today is definitely a decisive. Back to alltime highs. Couple of things to comment on. The fact that a lot of the concerns have been put on the back burner. The fed statement of last couple of days, people do not people do not think there we are going to have any sort of tapering. The stance has been much more bullish. That means a lot of people think that nothing might be announced in september. Liz let me interrupt. The yield on the 10year just take a 10year high. So let me bring in charlie. Again, you could comment as well. Looking at that, here we go. Im so sorry. At 2year high. There it is. What do you think is really pushing net. Its the gdp number. Of fertile of talk about people saying that they have added in research and development, but what has been overlooked and i have not heard it talked about a lot is the fact that they added total pension obligation into gdp. If you take a look, 308 is sent the companys. 94 percent of those Pension Funds are underfunded. So under the old program, if you had a Million Dollars in pension obligations, so you put in 500,000 of the million in obligations. The number was 500,000. That was what was contributed to pensions. Now its just the wrong number. If you go through with the pension board Guaranty Corporation is supposed to back all the stuff. Already 304 billion underfunded liz youre right. The pension benefit Guaranty Corporation, this is a story. Market all down. This is the story. Liz recalls charlie. You will get you n hopefully tomorrow and get talk specifically. Any other numbers. The other number is china. People keep talking about the china number. The indices last month, the did not like the numbers. They said there were unreliable. I think if you parse the numbers further you will find that these are green shoots. Liz also, the chinese tend to bring out the highlighted in green and start changing the numbers because they cant. Thats another excellent point. We need to get to wail. What a jump. The numbers we see with west texas intermediate, more than 2 higher. You have a market that is almost defying conventional wisdom. Again, going through every one of the resistance levels. Keep in mind, pretty much a perfect storm here. Some positive news from a china forecast. You have a very strong stock market. Again, there is no reason for someone to stand in the way. Last monday, a week ago monday it traded up. This is trying its hardest to get up to that 110 level. The only indicator you could have to make a real downside case was the relative weakness of the gasoline which really led all day today. You have a market that is looking as strong as possible, but you have to keep an eye on this. May be a possibility for a little bit of clay. Maybe this as everyone nice and warm. And nice direction looking right around the corner. Liz thank you. We do appreciate it. Theyre is a trial going on in manhattan that basically has the name of fabulous them. Can you imagine. The jury is in the milk of deciding the fate of former goldman trader, fox business Liz Macdonald as a exactly what the jury is now asking questions about. That really gives us a window into a guessing game of what might happen here. Youre absolutely right. The jury is asking questions about his salary. Basically indicating that theyre trying to assess his intent. He is allegedly misleading investors. The jury questioned the base salary that he got during the time. Does any of this satisfy the securities fraud statute . The judge said only if it got compensation directly from the deal. The next one has to do with an email that he sent in february february 2009. That john paulson hedge fund. He cherry pick the assets for this deal and that shorted it. All of that allegedly hid from investors. Your going to see in that jury question, theyre saying they want the exhibit, they want more permission. Get this, breaking news. He wanted to get a job at the john paulson hedge fund, again intent to mislead investors for its own personal endorsement. Discover the next question. This is a foreman of the jury. Asking the judge for direction on whether not they can get a liability charge against for greece. The liability finding. For just one piece of the deal. This is a multi card deal. Different churches. The judge did say yes, you can find them liable. Another breaking news story, the jurors sent a thankyou note to the judge for moving the case along quickly. This means that possibly the jury is nearing a verdict. Again, highprofile sec case from the fallout of the financial crisis. Liz those will be watching in the second there is a virgin will jump in and let us know exactly what is going on. Good that she pointed out the reason that they specifically said base salary on wall street, a smaller base salary and the rest of your compensation is commission. They clearly have an idea of what is going on. Closing bell ringing in 48 minutes. Google making that huge bet with its firstever smart phone. Unveiled just minutes ago. In a moment we will dig into the huge innovation machine as they help it will capture the attention of the consumer. I will ask this man behind the new handset. How he plans to convince all of you apple and samsung and tried diehards to swap out the smart phones for his gadgets, including the fox business team. Actually, we should same area because marriott runs theates d oer brands, one of the biggest names in the auto business. Investors and traders pay very close attention to how marriott does every quarter and what the results can tell us about the economy. Second quarter revenue beating estimates while earnings per share was in line with forecasts a also down more new revised guidance. Lets get the story from washington d. C. Marion international ceo and president. Great to see you. Many types of travelers, business, leader, the frugal traveler all use different brands of hotels. Collectively how was the traveler doing . The individual traveler is doing great as we speak. The only pause in our report this morning was the near term group business. A little bit soft. So when you look at the individual Business Travelers, families taking vacation. What we saw, about six, seven, 8 . That has been steady. Really strong performance. Liz which group is in them separating them from the actual group traveler, but a Business Traveler, leisure traveler with a little bit more money . Who is doing the best . That they put the Business Traveler and leisure, but probably the higher end leisure is strongest. You talk about ritzcarlton. We had a dozen ritzcarlton resorts in florida who are performing very, very well. The west coasts performing great. Those are driven often buy highend leisure travel. But the working traveler is back on the road. So ibm executive, ibm salesman, the consultant, theyre back on the road doing business. Liz we had an exclusive interview with the head of well, kristine lagard who looks and all things as the head of the world. And tommy if you agree with there. She was very concerned about the second half of the year here in the United States and specifically told a shootout that the sequester was going to have of lagging the serious effect. Is that why you downwardly guided your entire rest of your . We brought down the top and of our samestore sales. And we brought down the top end of that for the ful number. Most of them was a reflection of what happened the first two quarters of the year. We posted about 5 . A quarter ago we said we might to as low as 7 . But to get to those numbers, it would have suggested it dramatically better blow out. We dont think its realistic. I think when we look across the whole portfolio, not just the United States, but much of the world. Will we see is a steady performance according to court. Notwithstanding the fact that the second part of the year was worse from a market perspective. It has never been as exciting as some of the earlier recoveries. We have not been posting 10 . But it has been high single digits. Good and strong and steady. Liz can i get your boss . We talked about asia. A slight slowdown. Im more interested in your. We see remarkable strength in the destinations in europe which are most global. So think about paris. Paris performs extremely well. Notwithstanding the shape which is not great. Why . Because people from all over the world, including millions of new travelers from asia wanted us to places like paris. The east to strong. Russia is doing quite well for us. The u. K. Is probably our weakest big market in europe. London, obviously better than the rest. The u. K. Economy is weak and as tough comparisons because of the olympics. Be a tough yearoveryear comparison. Liz as we finish up, where youre hiring . We are hiring everywhere. One of the best statistics we have, send 16,000 new rooms, contracts to manage a franchise in the Second Quarter alone. We have about 140,000 rooms about to open up the next couple of years, all signed. This year we will open 30,000. About half in the u. S. And half outside. Every new room is a new job. And so we will see close to 10,000 new jobs in the United States. Probably at least that many outside the u. S. Liz every new room is a new job. That we wrap our eyes and ears and minds around. Its good to hear that. We appreciate it. Nice talk to you. Liz Marriott International seal and president. We have the closing bell ringing in 37 minutes. What could be a black guy or a dunce cap. Zeo heartburn. Liz we have breaking news right now coming out of the trial of the goldman a trader who was accused of all kinds of issues. When it came to a questionable trade, reuters is reporting that a jury has reached a verdict. We are guessing at this point because it has not yet been confirmed, but that is what were hearing. The the whole group of people is walking into the courtroom right now. As soon as we get it. We should on pac this a little. If this guy is convicted, that is a story. Some of these counts, if he wins, if the sac loses on this, this is to the black eyes or one huge black eye. This is preponderance of evidence which means that they cannot prove. They cant win 5149 against someone who theyre trying to make an example of as one of the culprits of the financial crisis. If theyre is a weak link to display it this case, i can tell you, jurors have reacted badly to government and trying to pin the financial crisis on a single individual. They try to make in the example of all that is bad during the financial crisis. That is there weak link. If they lose this is the big story. A lot of chips on the table. The lawyer was one of the best. The litigated this, but a lot of research into this. If they lose, watch out. Liz not even a full day of deliberation. Does that speak more to the side of a breeze for the governments . Are to say. I got the o. J. Verdict wrong. But i think hes going to lose. I dont think you go on the bragging they are making money and doing all this stuff and then deny these charges be 5149. A lot lower. That is why of the government loses it is not good. Liz standing by. You earlier in this hour have questions that the jury was sending to the judge. His compensation. Liz we have been breaking news all day. The jury may be coming to a quick decision. We broke it. We set it on your show. The jury was thinking the judge for moving this case so rapidly. And they basically, what the jury was asking the judges, whether they could find febris liable for securities fraud and just one part of the deal. Remember, this is a multi part moving part. And the judge said yes. They also asked about his salary, whether they can use that as proof of intent to mislead and defraud investors. The judge said only if that salary was attained in association with the deal. Meeting bonuses or compensation. They also asked about essentially an email that the breeze had sent. The architect of the negative. Whether or not he had left the fund because the breeze wanted to get a job. Winding down that derivative. Alltel you something, a Football Game when it comes to a preponderance of the evidence. Here in the end zone. If youre over the 50yard line, thats when the sec could win. In other words liz charlie is right here. Youre looking at if theyre is a loss. This is so huge. This is nuclear for the sec reputation. Thats why i dont think there will lose. But a lot of resources in this. I covered this from the beginning. I always thought heres the problem. I mean, for greece did not mislead people of all was in that pool of derivatives. They knew what was in there. They didnt say, these a triple as won their triple seized. It is what is. Remember, where they misled was it was on the other side and how we presented it. Some of the emails. And you know, the problem, 5149. Liz why you think there would help out . That one into when anyone says job back. He wants to win, it reinstated and maybe get a job back. I dont know if thats possible. But tell you, here is another problem with the government case they let goldman go with the relative slap on the rest. Liz we are getting word, the civil trial of former goldman vicepresident , liable on six of the seven. Let me explain quickly. The 550 million fine. So he is now liable. What this means the next at is that the judge in the sec decide the penalties. They decide the final say on the penalties. Now the s in ac sec can decide whether to ban him for life. He is probably gone. He is done. Already at the university of chicago. Liz can they keep them on staff . They convicted him on every single count. You know, 5149. That is a small bar, but there were just saying that they lost. Big black guy. This is a good thing. Although it is somewhat expected. Just so you know. I hate to deflate the news value, but losing was a story. Liz a muchneeded victory because remember, they lost that case against the derivatives trader last year. They also did not get that way in the reserve. You know, the head of that. I tell you, one important point, the sec devoted the National Trauma unit. They did throw a lot of manpower, significant resources. Millions of taxpayer dollars fighting this. This is a big victory. It. Liz this just be clear. A civil fraud trial. Teeseven the ssart of the securities business. I dont know how you fight for reinstatement if he with it basically through the bucket in. He is done. They have to ban them. Probably get a fine of some type liz im looking at goldman stock right now, up 2 . Totally separate. They settled the case. If you go back when this thing first broke, they initially put up a big defense. Remember them going running around saying were going to fight them and when this case. Leaking stories. Liz the other thing goldman will lose. Liz let me cut in quickly. Goldman hang on. Goldman paid for the breeze. They pay for his defense. They did because they want to make sure to their own employees. For greece was a symbolic face. The face of wall street in this deal. A big victory for the s in ec. Next up is penalties. I disagree. I dont think hes a face. I think that the street has moved on. I think that this is a bigger story of the loss. The fact that they want, its almost rudimentary. Liz agaii, the case is over. It appears that the fabulous fab is not so fab. He is liable. Liable on six of the seven counts. Already settled. Okay. Coming right back. Twentysix minutes before the closing bell. Dow jones industrial up 118. Liz well, it was Just Launched moments ago. The first and set produced since the takeover by google in 2011. The beginning of the come back. Joining us now, Motorola Mobility ceo. Good to have you. First of all, we love these stories because it is American Innovation happening here in the u. S. Lets first talk about the features of the phone in a national what are the best parts . Thank you for having me. You heard of this self driving a car. Think of this as the self driving phone. It will navigate. You can imagine in a car how important it is. Liz contention lead people are aware of what their phones are doing and what they look like. Make the case. You know what we did, we get the whole Team Together here. We all held up our collective phones. We have tried, all kinds of blackberries, some from 1999. Both mark and i to my executive producer, have to because we cant figure out how to get all we needed the one. Try and pitch our team. Make the pitch to s and the people watching of why we should switch out. Well, let me just give you one reason. First of all, i can see the phones, but i guarantee you they are all either white or black. The consumer has never been able to really design their phone. These funds are fashion statements. For the first time the consumer will be able to build their own phone using any of 2,000 different combinations. This is like a boat. Its an awesome device. Liz hold it up again. We were in video when you did that. Okay. Cool. Very bamboo wish. This is actually made of teak wood. We will have other hardwood as well. You can participate in the design of your own phone for the first time. We know that Consumers Want to do that. Customizing shoes. Phones are fashion. No other manufacturer has allowed the consumer to do that. Liz youre watching. We will come out of the other carriers. 200. What is it without a deal . That is what our reporter did not have at that point. It depends on the carrier. They set the price. Anywhere north of 500, but it depends on the carrier. Liz will you be releasing it on locked . That is what the techniques are always interested in doing. We will release it on locked. People complain around. But one thing is, this is really close to the poor vision of android. On by motorola. One thing that has done good is the android operating system. This will be close to the poor vision that google set for and rick. Liz what number do you really want to see when it comes to sales . The threshold. Okay. We are doing well in sales. Liz you have to think as the first of all long line of products that we will be developing now that we are owned by google. The success for us in this market is taking on some huge behemoths and really making a mark with the consumer. We have to be his scrappy underdog. Were making this device, the first smart phone never made. If given a choice to want to buy a product that is built here. We have a lot of exciting momentum behind the product and were ready to see how it does. Liz battery life this huge. A previous phone more than one year ago that had 15 hours of battery life. Well, we still have devices, detroit mac offers 48 hours of battery life. An incredible phone. This will get you through the day. About 24 hours. We really managed all of the sensors incredibly efficiently. Liz i like the tea. Hold it up as we say goodbye. We appreciate you coming on. Then do flooring is huge in new york city right now. Congratulations. By the way, everybody should know, there were so many leaks, but now you have the picture. Closing bell ringing in just a few minutes. We have an amazing story about a former Citadel Investment group trader who later joined sac capitol. Was it a good hire . No. He got caught up in the widening fed investigation. Guess what, in his previous job, you might call his promised bonus boosting efforts the audacity of greed. Why did they hire the ag . And running. Up next, a fox business exclusive on whether a Market Correction is coming in sin and how much. Which stocks of the best bets to arrive at any storm . For coming right back. The Technology May be hard to imagine. But why you u would wantt isot. The 2014 eclass, it doesnt jt see the future, it is the future. Liz startling new revelations about of former sec capital trader who is already pled guilty to insider trading. Keeping a low profile. We cannot even find a picture of him. But the New York Post as reported that he was fired from a rival hedge fund, a Citadel Investment group before he ever got hired at sac because he got busted over a bone is boosting scheme that was uncovered on his very first day in and new job. Sources telling the post was kicked out of citadel in 2008 for fiddling with the trading books just after he became head of a group focusing on mergers. As soon as you get the promotion on that very day he reportedly started to work the numbers to get a better compensation. One single day. His lawyer declined comment. Lets kids to stocks. Therell. The s p 500 passing the 1700 mark. Is a Market Correction coming . At least four days. Where is the best place to run . James Advantage Fund ceo and president joining me now. Of more than 20 . Lets get to the correction. Is there one coming . Dont know wind, but there probably is. The risk is about 70 percent of a 10 to more correction. I dont know but it is like high noon. A 20 runup in stocks. Do we really expect another 20 . It is all based on this one elephant in the room, the fed. What theyre going to do. If you take away the fed elected the fundamentals they are not strong. Earnings have not been that could. Liz the risk factors. What else . Too much enthusiasm. One gentleman, 82 years old, he did with the fund had done. That is not enough. Liz push shamir enthusiasm. People are excited about stocks. They are not behaving like they are. That money is not flowing into equity funds. The numbers show that there are still a lot of people sitting on sidelines. The people who are against your theory say exactly that. There is not that much froth read now on the market. And youre right. That is why we say it is at topping phase. We are not ready to fallout. When you have this much momentum in the market it tends to continue. The long as things in life are market peaks. If you want to live a long time wait for a market peak. Liz lets get to some of your pickk. You picked names like tupperware , lets get to the ones today. It is interesting that theyre going for this. The refiner name. Down 12 over the past year. Did you really like it right now i think its positioned extremely well. For all of the cheap energy we are producing, they can make money on the spread. What they then turn around and sell at 46 relatively high or low, the highest in over three years. Our refiners are very some sensitive super, super cheap. Liz down 12 , down since depicted here. Of 78 . Liz it has only been two months lets get to your next pick, name the you say is a play on the baby boomer. His been around for a hundred years. It is in the insurance field. It liz and hyperventilating. This chart should get people excited. It has been doing extremely well. Earnings have been on a tear. It is not expensive. The insurance base has been ignored for about ten years in terms of the stock market, not a lot going on. We are seeing that commando whole finance area really being able to take advantage of lower Interest Rates. That is health insurance, but your number one moneymaker goes into a different kind of insurance. A dow component. Travelers. Property and casualty primarily. Incredible earnings gains, 85 increase in the company of that size. They are buying back shares. Insiders are buying shares. It is not expensive. One of those names that is sitting on the sidelines. Allow the prospect. Liz 4 billion. 186 million. Liz does it. Slow and steady. Dont get all panicked by the trader minutia. Closing bell rang in six minutes. A market rally. Unlike yesterday we have not squandered it. We will be right back. [ indistinct shouting ] [ indistinct shouting ] [ male announcer ] time and sales data. Splitsecond stats. Liz in these last few seconds, youve got to watch the s p 500 at 1706, 1707, thats a record high. Will we close above 1700 . That would be a first. Take a rook right now look right now. Dow jones industrials also up 10 120 points. David those Interest Rates, i mean, this rise in the stock market when you have a 5 jump in Interest Rates in one day is unbelievable. Its pretty much unprecedented. Liz lets go to nicole on the floor of the new york stock exchange. Liedintoo, ttin aew ltiigh rport verydys early aiti lcolnbut memb theipo ba in011. Is sck hone fr 5, day 212, new alltime high. David as i mentioned, its had over a 5 jump in one day. This is one of those rare occasions, isnt anybody concerned . Ill give you the triple whammy, how about the dollar is higher too. Very unusual to see the dollar higher, Interest Rate yields higher and equities higher. Somethings got to give. Liz we should also mention both the russell 2000 and the dow transports are at record highs as well. Top performers today, shares of yelp surging more than 25 too. Pretty amazing, its been a winner year to date. Its up 175 , there it is, up 23 today. Obviously, everyone does their online reviews, and its doing really well. They have a lot of customers. David david and one of those really great formers today, itt corporation, is up over 10 . We have the ceo and president here with us in this hour live in studio. Shes got some very good news to report. Why is it up so much . Thats right. A great Industrial Company came out with numbers, better urging. They surged, they raised their guide pe, so stock surging 10. 5 , a great performer. Liz all right. David by the way, thats good news for the economy, too, because itt does well when the economy in general does well, when theres more production. More industrial activity. So that as good thats good news for everybody. Liz international exchangetraded funds are looking very good, everything from the xob, xoy. Financials, energy all in the green.
