Well, walmart fits really well within our cashstrapped consumer theme and one of the key things about walmart only about 8 of its sales depend on clothing versus target which is more 20 . Egyptair flight 804 crashing into the Mediterranean Sea with 66 people on board. It was on its way from paris to cairo. There were 66 passengers and crew on board when it suddenly disappeared off the radar. Now that flight radar indicates, it appears to swerve sharply before the crash and egyptian aviation Authorities Say this could mean that pilots lost control over the plane with a struggle in the cockpit. Based on suddenness of this incident, the Egyptian Government thinks this could indicate a terror attack but they say it is too soon to rule out all possibilities of what might happen. There has been no claim of responsibility as of now from any terror group. So the wait goes on for the anxious relatives whose loved ones never showed up at cairos airport. Around half the passengers were egyptian citizens returning home. Of course on everyones mind is the crash of a Russian Airliner flying out of the egyptian Holiday Resort of Sharm Elsheikh in november 2015, when it crashed, isis did claim responsibility for this although the Egyptian Government says it wants to wait for the investigation to conclude before confirming it was a terror attack but certainly that incident has heightened fears of flying to egypt. Now meanwhile in this latest incident, the u. S. Navy is supporting greece in the search for the missing plane but as of now, night has fallen over the waters where that plane disappeared and it is unlikely that searchandrescue effort will be able to continue until daylight tomorrow. Now of course it may take some time before we really know what happened to that aircraft. French investigators have flown out to egypt to join authorities there to the search for the black boxes. Some important things came out of the report we just heard. First is the long period of time, roughly 40 minutes between when they last made contact from the ground with this plane, when no one was responding but the plane was still flying as normal. What does that tell you . Something was wrong with communication, either machinery or people, something is broken down in the cockpit in terms of communicating. Lets be real clear here. There is difference in terrorism and plane ol sabotage. This could be a situation where a fight in the cockpit between somebody, it could be a suicide mission. It could be somebody putting a bomb on the airplane to get even with his exwife who is on board. There is a lot more information we need before we jump to a lot of terroristtype conclusions although that is a good one. Melissa david, to that point, the other thing that really sticks out no one has claimed credit so far and in the past when isis or al qaeda claim to behind something they took credit early on. We havent heard any of those climbs throughout the entire day today. What does that tell you . Absolutely same thing. So that is a little bit unusual. You would expect they would want to claim credit for this if they could legitimately do that. The daily signals editorinchief, rob blue was in the meeting and joins me now. Rob, i understand they explained it would be really difficult for facebook employees to inject bias into the stories. Was that part of the meeting they said we kind of, we dont think our employees are actually doing this . Well, yes, there was a technical discussion about how trending topics work and algorithm play as significant role but there are human interactions with the content. One of the things that conservatives pointed out, facebook has overwhelmingly liberal staff. We look at political donations. Over 80 go to liberals or democrats. So when you have people like interacting with news content, the way that they phrase it, the topic for trending topics could influence ultimately what you see in facebook. Melissa absolutely. It is shocking they would call the meeting to bring everyone together and sort of saying seemed like they are saying they dont have a problem, is that not true . They were quite clear they do have a problem. They have a problem, a trust problem with conservatives. That was made clear to us. Melissa a trust problem, but it is not our fault you dont trust us. Sounds like they were not taking any sort of culpability from the fact that websites saying theyre being suppressed. For example, you know, weve had folks on who had their web pages shut down and at the same time, you have facebook pages up that say, ftrump and this and that, and they dont take down. So they have a problem . Youre correct. Absolutely, and i think facebook acknowledges there are some challenges and there are some problems. This was a, this was a step on their part to help explain both the Community Standards which leads to some pages being taken down and also how the algorithm works for trending topics and news feed. It was opportunity for conservatives to explain some of the grievances that they have against facebook and make facebook aware of how the perception is amongst the conservative movement that facebook is a liberal entity.
