The northern family in toronto, to the people, Justin Trudeau is like barack obama. This man be able to deal with a young man of 35, and him bernie ing sanders or Something Like that. The new mayor of prowess, a his name, i forget mayor of the muslim london, she said they were talking and said he was upset donald trump said about not letting muslims into the usa. I was a lifelong democrat. Guy. A 59yearold white my children come from a minority woman. Bernie sanders was inclusive, where hillarys exclusive. What has hillary said so far . Dont you pick on my mexicans. Pick on my muslims. Dont you pick on my blacks. Pick on my nt you women. Im like who are you talking to . So the Democratic Party is telling me, i am no longer welcome. No choice put to vote for trump. Host okay. In right, thats brian warren, michigan. Danny, bluefield, west virginia, democrat there. Danny, good morning to you. Caller good morning. Im getting very concerned about these shootings of young black men. I am really angry myself, but ive got quite a number of black and theyre so fed up with it, that theyre talking about any town where this like what happened in minnesota last night, going into cops, or 50cking 10 cops at random, and executing them, or following them back to and killing their families. So the cops need to wise up quick, even the good cops need to get on the bad ones and wise up. To ecause this is can you imagine what its like to be a Police Officer where every time the street, you have to worry about snipers shooting at you . This is recognize. Okay. Derrick, a democrat. Caller good morning. I wanted to touch the topic. It was the gentleman from georgia, he was talking about well, what he was talking about was im a 59yearold africanamerican. Im retired. Nd the thing that really aggravates me about this is that got f the vote that romney in the last election were from whites just like him, uneducated, okay. Theyve always taken advantage of White Privilege. Ones who like trump. And despite that, they still by 5 million votes. And im telling you right now, theyre going to get a whooping than romney. Thats whats going to happen. Thank you. Host all right. Comey will beames before the House Oversight committee this morning at 10 00 time and we will have coverage of that on cspan 3. Hes going to be talking to them his decision not to recommend criminal charges against the former secretary of of a private email server. From the New York Times this in their national section, there is a piece about of political ramifications this and david horizontalen and report that in instead of drawing attention to 110 careless handling of classified emails and contracting fbi signings with mrs. Clinton shifting use of a ns of her private email server, mr. Trump the nded on twitter saying system is rigged. He repeated that last night. Republican Campaign Operatives stunned mr. E comeys announcement was not met battalion of republican credential Law Enforcement and ational Security Officials raising questions about the inquiry to hammer mrs. Clinton. Nor were any talking points sent leading to republican members of offering guidance on the best lines of attack against her what was fter a remarkably harsh assessment of conduct. Mr. Ryans suggestion that mrs. Clinton be barred from receiving classified information was extraordinary even if it was certain to be barred by the Obama Administration. Eres the speaker of the house with his comments on that. Couple of things. Umber 1, i think director comeys press Conference Tomorrow raises more questions than provides answers. Thats point number 1. 2, there are a lot of questions that have to be answered so were going to be asking those questions. Know the Judiciary Committee sent a letter last night with a number of questions. O. G. R. , that committee will invite the fbi director to come and testify. He did say that short of some kind of administrative action might be in order. Look, i was on the ticket in 2012. After the convention, you get the full, deep, classified of rmation as part transition, as part of being a nominee. I think that he and i, clapper, Hillary Clinton access to classified information during this Campaign Given how so recklessly handled classified information. Thats point 1. Point 2, director comeys presentation shredded the claims clinton made throughout the year with respect to this issue. Out a case, how the things she had been saying she had or had not done were false. So we have seen nothing but stonewalling and dishonesty from secretary clinton on this issue, and that means there are a lot more questions that need to be answered. Speaker of as the the house talking about this testimony that the fbi director and also his y thoughts that that security learance should be taken away from her. The hill newspaper reporting that five panels are set to be grilling the former secretary of and one of them would be the House Oversight committee. This morning. Ing on we will have coverage that on cspan 3, 10 00 a. M. Eastern time, that is when the appear today. Ill from the hill newspaper, it says committees of five will either hold hearings with highprofile Law Enforcement next week or the have already begun inquiries to investigation. Its comey is due today in capitol hill and attorney general orreta lynch Late Wednesday announced she will follow comeys investigation and no criminal charges will be forth coming. She is going to be testifying next tuesday before the house so well be mittee asking about her announcement there. Days after lynch testifies next week, comey is on capitol be back hill to sit before the House Homeland Security committee to worldwide threats and asked him about the clinton investigation. Senate, judiciary and Homeland Security committees komcomey asking to for Additional Information about the fbi probe. So that is the latest on that. And also this morning, the Washington Times says clinton email cleared in the case with the attorney general lynch yesterday announcing that she would not pursue a criminal case against Presumptive Democratic president ial nominee but its the formal step taken by the department and then theres this from the new york imes this morning, the email inquiry may shatter clinton aids. The attorney general informed on wednesday that the Justice Department would not charges against anyone in the email case, everal state department advisors, whose records show mrs. Clintons unortho dox arrangement. Among those are cheryl mills, sullivan, and jake netime aides who could face difficult questions in pursuing security clearances for diplomatic or National Security because of their involvement with mrs. Clintons emails. It state Department Said would restart an internal review into the handling of mrs. Emails now that justices investigation is formally closed and that review the security clearances. From the attorney general saying yesterday, i met with the fbi director and career prosecutors in agency of ucted the investigation secretary Hillary Clintons use of a personal email system during her time as secretary of state, i received and accepted their unanimous recommendation yearlong horough investigation be closed and that no charges be brought against any individuals within the scope this investigation. Affairs other public issues, we are on open phones. Travis from washington, a for hanging hanks on the line. Good morning and go ahead. Caller thank you for having me. Speak to the to little bit of White Privilege carr was democratic talking about. I dont know if you heard about dylan noble who was shot four times by fres no Police Department just the other day. And i want to talk about goodold lynch. She was actually holders and i believe shes a criminal also, along with just my but thats opinion. okay, travis. Jeremy in maryland, independents. Whats on your mind . Caller good morning. Last caller, White Privilege is a real thing and one killing or one incident with not make a trend. To comment, for years and millions of dollars, this investigation into hillary and what she did with the email servers, but not once an investigation of independent or otherwise or of the bush utiny administration lying us into the iraq war. Seeing things coming into light with tony blair, where he may come up on criminal charges through independent thea reports, because 9 11, war after 9 11, was all based on a lie. Tony jeremy, did you watch blairs response yesterday . Caller i watched a part of it, more to the lways story. Im never concerned with what were being told. Were cerned with what not being told. Every media news outlet had a we have to protect the system asis. But with independent went igation into why we into war with iraq in the first place. Host i want to tell our viewers may not be familiar with the socalled chocot report about to go into the iraq war and how it was handled after that. Out of england puts it this way. War report into iraq delivers damning judgment on blair. And you have this inside usa today. 13 million iraq inquiry knew es what we already according to some, seven years, and 13 on words million later, official inquiry into the u. K. s war on iraq a damning verdict on tony blairs decision to join 2003. Onflict in the former Prime Minister talked about this yesterday. Conference for two hours and made a statement for nearly an hour and took covereds after that, we it. You can watch it on our web site, cspan. Org if you want to what he had to say. Also in the papers this morning is an update about afghanistan. Announcing ama yesterday that according to ashington times, will leave afghanistan to his successor, will keep the troop levels at this year, end of more than he had planned. We covered the president s tatement on this so you can, again, go to our web site and n. Org to watch that hen you can find senator bob corker on twitter saying thats full statement before many of the republicans advocating, that they generals, keep the troop levels where its at because of the taliban and make a s trying to foothold in that state. Congresswoman barbara libo on theter saying the news that troops will stay into afghanistan in 2017 confirms war will stretch into yet another presidency. Carolyn in west salem, north carolina, a democrat. Carolyn, go ahead. Caller hi, yes. I would just like to say that supporter trump thats so fearful and scared and afraid of isis, i just want them as an that africanamerican born and raised i have lived with everything from the klu klux and the police whether they were going to shoot one of my ousins, whos going to have a burning cross in front of their house setting their houses on i can say to the donald trump supporters, welcome to our world. Blessed day. Host okay, all right, carolyn. Were going to take a short break. But before we do that, i want to go through some other news or on some a few headlines carlson, who was fired from fox yesterday. He chairman of fox news was accused of forcing her out after advances d his sexual and complained about persistent harassment in the news room. Startling accusation against perhaps the most powerful man in television news. Page of the front New York Times and also made the business section of the new york large picture of Gretchen Carlson saying she was 11 years, fox after taking on fox news, the back story featured in the business of the New York Times. Front page of usa today also has the story, former fox host files Sexual Harassment suit. Neither fox news nor carlson could be reached for comment. Though, that he has unlawfully retaliated against according to carlsons lawyer, and sabotaged her career sexual she refused his advances. Fox news saying that her accusations are not true and she was let go because of low ratings. Business section of the wall street journal. Anchor alleges harassment. The Washington Post put it in their style section. Carlson sues roger ailes for harassment. Well take a short break. When we come back, well find ut more from the testimony of fbi director james comey before the House Oversight committee. Well talk to one of its members, republican congressman farrenthold from texas, and then later, karen bass, california, will react to the Clinton Emails and also the Fatal Police Shootings. Well be right back. Announcer book tv has several programs every weekend. At 7 00 p. M. Eastern, Hillary Clintons 1996 book, it takes a village is topic of a round table discussion. 94, it takes a hillarys ts branding. It was a big moment then to did in this book, im a moderate. Parn amy parns of the hill. Shes pushing equal pay and child care, which is a huge right now. Er announcer at 8 30, gary burns crisis of is book character a White House Secret Service officer discloses his irst hand experience with hillary, bill and how they separate. I can tell you seeing somebody a forced standing position has nothing to do with standing at a standing desk. Torture. Announ booktv. Org for o the complete weekend schedule. Washington journal continues. Blake ongressman farenthold, congressman from texas is here to talk about the directors testimony from capitol hill this morning. The Washington Times this morning with the headline, congressman, clinton formally cleared in the email case. He attorney general formally cleared her when it was nnounced she will follow the recommendations of the fbi director. Guest and thats what she said she was going to be doing all along. We want to get to the bottom of where some of these recommendations came from. Fter you hear and lay out a long list, basically of indictments against hillary going to ut were not choose to recommend prosecution. And that doesnt really make a lot of sense. She was extremely careless. Whats the difference between and gross areless negligence, as lined up in the statute . Statute was he carelessness. Over i mean, thats what negligence is. So i think one of the questions what going to see asked is does Congress Need to do to change the statute to where are required to treat classified information the way thinks it ought to be treated and keep it classified and not put it on a very server. Host could the difference be intent . How would you prove intent . Guest im a former lawyer, recovering attorney, and you intentional, knowingly, grossly negligent and negligent, specific legalve definitions. And basically, the definition of negligence is carelessness and negligence is extreme carelessness. Its grossly negligent if a you r leaves a sponge in when he operates. I mean, thats extremely careless. Synonymous, and id be interested in hearing and i think my colleagues are going to be in hearing where that with the fbi agent. Host do you think that the attorney general should have recused herself from the final decision, and this should have been given to a special prosecutor to make that final decision . Well, back in the day when i was in law school, there was a concept called appearance improprietary that now pretty much disappeared from the ethical rules. I always thought tas an attorney or as a member of as a diciary, or Government Official, one of your ethical obligations was not just improperly, but it was to avoid even the appearance of improprietary, and i think things thats he wrong in our country right now. You know, i think its good to skeptical of the government, but when you see somebody from the government talking and the that comes to your mind is oh, their lips are moving, they must be lying, we gotten way far away from the government for the people and by the people. Do you think that director comey was influenced by partisan is he being here . Guest he was a bush appointee youve beenw, after around washington for a while, you worry that, you know, some on you. Nsider rubs off its one of the reasons i go back to texas almost every eekend, you know, go take out the garbage and visit with real i have a running joke, you really dont want to drink the water in washington because dont know whats in it. Actually, on capitol hill, with and the cannon building. Host theres more truth to that go ahead. Your thought. Guest my thought is youve got and evervigilant, certainly as a congressman and i think any Government Official yourself ont find falling into this thinking. Beltway host what are you going to ask him though specifically that believe that youre questioning him, i mean, the Washington Press this morning in their editorial, blaming mr. Comey, the republicans lash ut over the clinton investigation and they say by criticizing him, what the speaker has said and what youre impugning the professionalism of the fbi director and his agent, comeys, ly after mr. They say, measured factbased presentation. It, you you watched think as you were watching it, all right, hes going to say going to prosecute or were going to file an indictment, and then all of a goes, however, comma, is off theat i think rails based on what the evidence need to i think we just delve into that thought process. I think pretty much anything however is spot on, and what i think what the going y of the folks are to want to focus on is how do you get from all of these classified emails being on including some marked classified, and then get to well prosecutor would prosecute if theres no precedent. Well, theres a lot of where theres no precedent because our technology is changing so much. Laws got to apply the dealing with classified technology that we have in place. You couldnt walk out with classified documents in your briefcase. Now, you shouldnt be able to transfer them to an unclassified email server. Thats part of the questioning that mr. Farenthold will have, along with other oversighton the house and Government Reform Committee. 10 00 a. M. Span 3 at eastern time if youre interested in how the director responds to that type of questioning. All of you get to ask questions of the congressman. Terry in fort worth, texas, a republican. Youre up first. Good morning. Calling about was mrs. Clintons statement that lorreta onsidering lynch to be able to continue as if she was eral president and she made the statement before lynch, said no prosecutions of clinton and the others. Isnt this a bribe in and of matter a very serious that she should be prosecuted for that alone . Thank you. Guest i think product called it a bribe and certainly i get back to the appearance of improprietary. And rtainly isnt right whether or not to prosecute is certainly something to look at black mark ons a mrs. Lynchs career that she this. Recuse herself from host do you agree with donald trump though that it was a bribe . Has again, it certainly the appearance of impropriety great ald trump has a ability to boil legal terms and ideas into easytounderstand language. Another good job here. Host youre a donald trump supporter. Well talk about his meeting in a n capitol hill minute. More phone calls. But first, let me tell you about career terms in the Justice Department. The Washington Post says that ince 1976, fbi directors have had 10year terms and have answered to the u. S. Attorney house. L and the white comey has said he remains committed to serving his full would take him beyond the fouryear term as the next president unless he is or pressured to resign as has happened with other directors. Louisiana, on the democrats line, youre on the air. Im a little disturbed at the very first that the congressman on, what is the difference between a consequence or being igent host guest extremely careless was word i believe. Caller the difference between negligence and carelessness. Negligence, which i think theres a line drawn between when something is of a matter, its considered negligence. Uest i think the Legal Definition caller wait, let me finish, please. Is not a legal matter, its considered careless. When somebody gets behind the of a car and they drive and are speeding and we have gone in and out of lanes, okay, a serious accident. You know what theyre going to get . Vehicle,ss operation of okay. So what is the difference between that and then being negligent . If the careless operation of the vehicle is because it death. Cause a whereas negligence, we cause a death which could lead to a lawsuit. Im a little disturbed at the that you dont know that. Guest im an attorney, maam. Of negligence in legal term is not behaving as a reasonably prudent person would behave. And gross negligence is that carried on to an extreme. I think, you know, even the fbi director in this case says entirely sure whether or not mrs. Clintons behavior resulted in that information getting out. A hacker name gucifer was able to get some of not through the server but one of the recipients, but the fbi director had that were not sure server been hacked or not. Ad it been a state hacker that hacked it, i dont think wed know about it. Obviously, some of these hackers like to brag. Russia or china or some other enemy state, had they gotten theyd server, certainly be keeping it quiet and we might not know about it nd i think thats what the fbi director said. Host donny from virginia, democrat. Hi, donny, good morning. Yes. Er my comment is on hillary. Linton, her email, hacked. Il was not theyre just complaining, and that the already said and have s, let it go least 7lions or at million. Costing a debt over the situation. Let it go. They all have done it. One president that did im not going to name it, past, has been in the hat needed 7 million email servers. Hes never been investigated at all. Host so donny is referring to a couple of things. 7 million, price tag for the Benghazi Committee looking into that. Do you think, congressman, that there should be a special to look into up the fbis inquiry into Hillary Clinton . The existing Community Structure will be fine to look into. Nd there wasnt a verdict, actually, but what happened is the fbi and Loretta Lynch both exercise prosecutorial discretion, which is choosing prosecute. I think everybody would be more satisfied had they actually a sented the evidence to grand jury, not a group of washington insiders deciding what to do. Has he way our system worked is the evidence is presented to a grand jury and hey choose whether or not to proceed with a criminal trial. Host when you look at the 30,000 emails, 110 of them, the director said, were were deemed classified at the time they were sent and received. Nancy pelosi, the leader for the democrats in the house yesterday said, it was wrong, but thats a small number when you look at picture of 30,000 emails. Guest you know, i do think we to whether or not it was compromised, whether it was ne or a million, if it was compromised, government secrets lost. That would be a birg issue but we dont know that. Protect are in place to this confidential information. And if you ignore them, act as though youre above the law, you putting americans, potentially at risk. Weve got to t fix. Host i just wonder if it goes o intent when you look at 110 versus 30,000. Guest and youve also got a number of emails workrelated, admittedly, that have been deleted. Nd you know, that is a violation of federal records laws in and of itself. But you wonder, of those 30,000 deleted, were there mor in there even of the ones that we saw and because of the way they were destroyed couldnt be hey forensically retrieved, well never know that, unless of government foreign that hacked it sends us a copy. Host david, sanford, maine, independent, youre next. Caller good morning, congressman. Guest good morning. Questions and a comment. Law, she signedf an affidavit when she left the state department to turn over emails. She did not. So that is a violation of law tried on it. Be econdly, you guys hold the key to National Security in the house. Do not give her any information. Around when you hang the Obama Administration long a chief ou become political hack and thats what james comey has done. Thank you. Have a good day. Thanks for your comments. Host do you agree with him withholding information . Guest yeah, you heard some folks already calling for the national f intelligence to not give her the security briefings anominee get. Normally beencertainly proved shes extremely careless with this classified information. Has she learned her lesson or not . I think stating on it and having no consequences for it is a indicator she hasnt learned her lesson. Missouri, xt, independent. Good morning, bob. Yes. R people just like for the in washington, d. C. To stop the intelligence of the american voter. This that were talking about shows there are two levels this country. Guest i think youre right and think this is going to come back and bite Hillary Clinton when it comes to the election. She likes to consider herself as appeals to young, if you will. Conservatives have a reputation fogies and dont know how to use computers but, you know, i think people who technology and computers realize that theres rational way you can believe in your house, not at a secure location, security, is ime going to be secure. I used to have a Computer Consulting company. Systems ned computer professionally and i eventually we used to have servers and we realized we couldnt even provide the plant security in our controls at this Office Building that was necessary to secure computers and the fact that you thought you could do residence, i ate dont believe and applying security d monitoring thing. An ongoing daily a hack is exploited in a matter minutes. Host whats the difference in what she had set up and what revious secretaries of state had set up. Guest some previous secretaries of state, there was actually a inspector the general, Madeline Albright didnt use email. Normally done in government is your official kept on a nce are governmentsecured computer. It used to be blackberries, but now software out that let you use an android or an email. O get your but these are secure encrypted that arerom endtoend maintained by professionals. Up, he threat has brought as we have more and more moved to computers and more and more sophisticated hack ers and, you you go back more than a couple of years, what previous the e did is move, because security requirements are omething that change literally hourly. Host so given that, how do you think the law needs to be earlier, andu said you were going to ask director comey about that today, who how classified information is handled. Guest again, i think at the least, a reasonable prudent person, should apply negligence, as opposed to gross negligence thats existing in the statute, and im not sure it shouldnt be whats called the strict liability offense. Ou get caught with classified information outside of the cure environment, youve committed an offense. Works in the way it many agencies on an administrative level. If you mishandle classified may not be you politically or, politically . May not be criminally prosecuted but you will otentially lose your security clearance, very possibly lose your job, and will certainly be in a heap of trouble. For whats the process revoking somebodys security clearance . Guest well, when you get to the shes seeking the job of president. You cant operate as president and, t a security level you know, even as secretary of state, you cant operate without security clearance. So i dont know how you deal ith it at the highest level, other than youre fired. That was a quote there. Shreveport, n louisiana, a democrat. Good morning. Aller good morning, and im a usual caller. Whats the difference between whats the difference between hack i than when she was in the office . It dont add up. So much cane ng todays to when she was office. Uest no, it gets more sophisticated by the day. The hackers get more sophisticated and there are more intrusions and youve got governments hacking. You didnt days, see very much government hacking and it was kind of limited. Ut now, more and more stuff is moving to the computers and people are seeing the value of it, Cyber Security is actually i the topfive threat weve now. Our nation right host doug in california, republican. Caller good morning. I wanted to say thank you for taking my call, and my question does Hillary Clinton become commander in chief, how is a soldier in the field going their hearts, and the best of our generation, the men and women serving our how will they know deep in their hearts that help will be on the way and not wait a tarmac with war concerns, concerns. Guest we certainly saw that in the benghazi situation where he not one wheel turned. And again, i think this is a political decision that is going made by the vote ers and i remain confident that the voters do the right thing. I dont look forward to serving congress under president clinton and i dont think id be serving under the military. But a solution to that is the right now. Democrats io, the line. Caller good morning. I wanted to start off by saying, huge technical background and to hear government lead ers and media based onthese opinions absolutely no technical knowledge. They really dont even know how email works. F they have an opinion on her email account that she was using for government pieces. Say, the unusual thing about it is were talking previous president of the United States, first lady, senator and secretary of state, ot that unusual to have a home setup. So she was communicating from one person who had classified to another person who should have classified information. There were no breaches. Intent, vulnerable information, there was no negative impacts, there were no no ches, and there were hacks that had been under and, one more and, one more thing, you cant just make up the fact that she had an intent to share classified information and made that information vulnerable. There wasnt. Even the republicans are complaining they couldnt get emails. R so evidently, it was secure. Theres just nothing there to on. Ecute guest youve got a technical background, you tell me, im a microsoft certified solution provider, a company that i ran. We spent a lot of time securing servers, and those patches, even if youve got to get them out immediately, even if you have auto on, its often a long apse of time before a vulnerability is found and the patch is released. Ts very difficult to do if youre not on top of it and monitoring all the jobs. Comey has said that they cant or not it was hacked. My normal security procedure when i travel outside the is to have my phone wiped when i come back, change passwords and start over. It doesnt look like this was mrs. N any cases when clinton was traveling abroad. Aller james comey did not say that. He clearly said during the investigation they found absolutely no evidence of hacks her cell een done to phones, her laptops or her server. On. mason, hold he said it could have been hacked. He used that word. That was in his followup. In his followup, he said that she was traveling overseas, gotten access to the information . Probably. But theres absolutely no evidence of that and, probably you cannot indict on. Guest standard is not intentional. Caller these agencies that are in the United States government, locations, whoer are still using d. O. S. Systems. Is not secure what had. Ons guest a lot of government in the va system60s, writ nen cobalt. Trouble finding coders who can write in cobalt. Its a huge problem with back to what she said, the standard for handling is not ed information knowingly, is a gross negligence standard. With mrs. Somebody clintons background ought to ave the knowledge that you should not be handling this stuff in an insecure manner, especially when youre outside country and to me, i call that gross negligence and i think thats something that a grand jury or possibly prude jury in a trial should be deciding, not some in washington d. C. Host lets get to what director day. Did the other Matthew Miller who was director Justice Affairs office wrote comeys abuse of power. Justice that the department rules set clear guidelines but when its appropriate for the government about individuals involved in an ongoing investigation, which this matter it until prosecutors closed wednesday. Prosecutors and investigators can reassure the public that a being taken seriously and in some rare cases provide information to protect Public Safety when a suspect is loose and poses a danger. Important ices are because of the rules of the Justice Department interplay a system of justice. They are not the final adjudicators of the conduct they s of investigate. Instead, they build cases they court. In he goes on to write in this case, comey ignored those rules editorialize what he called carelessness by clinton, a in any t not grounded position of law. He recklessly speculated that clintons email hacked, ould have been while even admitting he had no it was. That guest i think these are some of the questions well have in the oversight and government reform have on cspan morning. Host at 10 00 a. M. In gaithersburg, maryland, youre next. Caller can you hear me . Yes, thank you for taking my call. I want to say a couple of things. I used to have a topsecret security clearance with special access, and i know that if i had one anything, just remotely like taking a document home or eaving a document carelessly around, not only would i have been fired, i would have lost and i would have been looking for jail time. Comey should be fired or resign. This is not to say than any other person participating in this same type of thing would not be subject to prosecution. He said to me as an american are two that there levels. There is no justice for all in this country. There are two levels of justice. I Want Congress to go after this investigation. I want them to hold her in contempt, because a lot of what she said as undergrowth. I do not want any slack on this moment. She does not represent thinking women in this country, young or old. She is corrupt, and i Want Congress to go after her with everything they have got. Guest thank you very much. I think we will see the first chapter of that this morning. We have several committees and continue to look at this. Regardless to slowly Congress Works and there is no Enforcement Branch to congress. We were landed Justice Department to enforce our contempt proceedings. We saw that in the eric holder situation. I cannot stress how important it is for folks like you are caller expressing their opinion. The ultimate decision about whether Hillary Clinton continues to work in government will be made in november when people go to vote for the next president. Host five panels grilled the server. O the cspan3be at 10 00 on and then next week Loretto Lynch is set to testify before the house Judiciary Committee and two days after that director back for the home i committee. They have asked for Additional Information about the investigation. Flint, michigan, democrat. Caller good morning. I want the republicans to stop wasting my tax money. I am 62 years old, i have always worked two jobs, paid a lot of taxes. I dont complain because i have a good life in the United States. I do not like my tax dollars being wasted on partisan junk like this. Hillary clinton will be the first woman president. I am very happy about that. Today to donated 50 her campaign. I think Loretta Lynch is a woman of integrity and so is Hillary Clinton. I think this is a witchhunt that thistoo far, benghazi, all junk that publicans keep thinking up wasting my money. Wanted to come i want it to come to an end. Certain a fiscal conservative and dont want to see money wasted. One of my biggest issues is not to waste government money. One of the biggest problems we face in America Today is a lack of trust in government. The only way we can restore the trust of the American People is through increased transparency and virus oversight of the various agencies like the fbi and the department of justice. This is one of congresss responsibilities to conduct oversight. It is part of the cost of doing business. We have to find a way to rein in spending wherever possible, but turning a blind eye to turning peoples lives that risk of not investigating allegations of wrongdoing only encourages more wrongdoing. Host raleigh, north carolina, democrat. Guest caller i cant understand why we make such a big issue of the linton situation clinton situation. And we allow the situation with the general whose girlfriend had accessibility to classified information to just go. We dont know anything about that at all. Isnt one just as bad as the other . Guest they fired general betray us and petraeus. It looks like Hillary Clinton will pay no price. Host josten, massachusetts, and independent. Caller thank you. I wish you would ask on behalf of the American People why any american citizen should follow any rule, law or regulation. Have to apply for there are so many onerous regulations we have to live up to a citizen. What if we all stopped obeying the letter of law, what would be the consequence . In my mind it made me question everything. Guest think thats a great question. I sit on the Oversight Committee as well as the Judiciary Committee. Assuming i have time in the five inutes that they give me, have a line of questioning i do want to pursue. But thats a great question i will to the list. And you will get to question Loretta Lynch next week. What should question for her . The first question, assuming somebody hasnt already notd it is, how can you recuse yourself from making this decision, when mrs. Clinton has publicly said if i get elected president , you get to keep your cushy government job . The judiciary issue is this legislation that republicans on the house side matches the senate bill as well, to deal with guns, getting access to guns to suspected terrorist . Coming to the floor. It was supposed to yesterday. What is happening with it and what are the concerns about due process. Guest theres a group of conservatives within the Republican Party that dont think there needs to be any gun legislation. I am a texan. I agree that terrorists shouldnt have guns. But the nofly list is basically a secret list that the government keeps with no criteria for how you get on, other than somebody suspects you. Suppose my Neighbor Calls up and says he doesnt like me and says blakes acting vicious, we think he might be a terrorist. Does that get me on the list . We dont know that. Bill was a quick way to get off of the list. But the hoop shoe have to jumped her to exercise the constitutionally protected right to own a firearm, can we find a less intrusive way to keep guns out of the hands of terrorists and protect those people who are not terrorists can from being subjected to this stuff . I think there are better solutions. Host you said you did have a hard time. Does that mean you are going to vote for a . Are i am i think we its also a solution that is looking for a problem. Nofly, no by as the democrats used like to call it has not stopped anyone recent terrorist attacks that we have in the country. Solution looking for a problem. Host this is from the Washington Post, the house belle encounters resistance as accounts congress in the Freedom Caucus not happy with this proposal cousin due process issue but also because the bill was not move through the committee process. While the guns measure any counterterrorism package, the house voted 4222 to pass a Mental Health bill. Murphy has insisted this is not a gun bill, but leaders have long considered it an integral part of the National Response to mass shootings. Karen, in norman, oklahoma. Caller i just have one quick comment. Cnn back just watch and forth to see what they were saying, but the other day christina got her hands on corey and camaraderie left at it. Thats going overboard to me. Ey is not say that com a hack. He said she is dead he is guilty and he said if you or regular people, tried to do it you will be punished. He said no reason to reasonable prosecutor would pursue this because he knew the fix was already in. Guest is an interesting fact. I have friends were prosecuted. They say it is much more difficult to prosecute and obtain a conviction of a celebrity. I think they would consider mrs. Clinton to be a celebrity. Thats not the american system where one rule applies to everybody else, and another rule applies to the politically elite like Hillary Clinton. That is about as unamerican as i can think of. ,ll men are created equal unless youre a former president s wife, secretary of state or a political insider. The law should apply to everybody. Thats fundamental to our country. Grapevine, texas, democrat. I would like to say that its time the republicans get over themselves and quit trying to destroy the country. They have been doing this for the last eight years. Hillary is the best one for this country. They have done nothing but divide this country and maybe for once in a while now, the Republican Party might do their job if the that they were elected to do, to help make this country better. I came to congress to save this country. Wave, when the10 American People were fed up with the exploding government regulations like obamacare and. Frank. Brakeslected to put the on bad ideas. I am looking forward to moving forward with a positive agenda, under a new president troutt trump. Where are you meeting him . Let me show this headline to the viewers. Donald trump finds few backers in congress for lesson two weeks before the convention. Most folks in congress havent had a chance to meet donald trump. This will be the opportunity. He will be at the National Republican club, they have a big room upstairs where hopefully he is a talker. He gives long speeches. My hope is that mr. Trump gives a short introductory remark and take some questions. I think it is already a good , barack obama is met with the republican conference once when he called us to the white house to scold us. This meeting between donald trump and i House Republican conference will tie the number of times obama has tried to reach across the aisle and work with us. Host how can mr. Trump unite their guest Republican Party . I think he is shown a willingness to work with congress. He is to reassure some folks that he has to that he is a conservative. You have a history there. Has been in the republic in the public eye, lots of videotapes on him and him saying a lot of things that can be used out of context, used against him, or may be reflections of how he felt in the past. Host he still says things that are that republicans shake their has today. Their toback to the fact that there is no such thing as a perfect candidate. Sittingyou are a fan or on the fence for donald trump, if you are republican, or a conservative, the democrats have moved so far to the left on issues. Donald trump is a much better choice. Host we will let you go so you can get to the meeting. We just asked the congressman how can the Presumptive Republican unite the priority . That is a question for republicans only for the next half hour. Let me show you what it looks like right now outside of the at the hill club Republican National headquarters. This is a building just on the other side of the capital. You can see where it is roped off. Media will probably already be there. There they are with their cameras getting set up. There are protesters as well outside of this gathering. Donald trump will meet with republican lawmakers as we heard from the congressman, taking some questions and calling them and hoping to rally them behind him. Then he will go to the other side of the capital and meet with Senate Republicans. We will have our cameras over there as well. We will show you that over the next half an hour this morning as we ask republicans only, how can donald trump unify the party . Lets go to tom, in weston, virginia. Good morning. Lost tom. Republicans only, keep dialing in this morning. About afterll you we talk with republicans only aroundrning, we will be 8 45 talking with karen representative karen bass, member of the judiciary katie committee. A Police Shootings as well, one in minnesota overnight , and the day before in baton rouge. Cynthia, good morning, albuquerque, new mexico. You are on the air, republicans only. Caller i think what he needs to what is happening to our country. They blamed the republicans for the country going down. That lady said eight years ago they try to do something and then the president www. Cspan. Org just think what hillary will do. The white house will become a have a house. Charlotte, north carolina, good morning. A big comparison between clinton and donald trump clinton has made an awful lot of itey, but she has made through Government Service and giving out favors. And donald trump has been in the free market. I thought it was hilarious yesterday in Atlantic City with hillary talking about that donald trump is a failed businessman. Have tried to hide the servers unless she was trying to hide all the favors. I think the media everything that donald trump, trying to divide them what their sexual the medias going after donald trump and trying to put a wedge between him and the Jewish Voters out there. I do think that when people realize that when we are totally broke as a country, trillions in debt, that we have to have somebody that at least has some of fiscal responsibility. Somebody that understands business. Host im going to let you go because i want to show the at and advocate for senator ted cruzs campaign. On backandforth that went between senator cruzs campaign and Donald Trumps Campaign Leading up to in the night of the iowa caucuses. Carsong out that dr. Ben has left iowa and he is out of his league. And donald trump being critical of him and the supporters in iowa. Steve king of iowa was air making his way into the Capitol Hill Club, the rnc headquarters waiting to talk to donald trump about what he wants to be president and getting these souse and Senate Republican behind. Cincinnati, when donald trump was campaigning there were the former speaker of the house Newt Gingrich, he talked about his relationship with lawmakers. Im proud of the fact that when we ran in the history of the Republican Party got the most votes ever, almost 14 million votes, more than anybody who is ever run. I very proud of that fact. And maybe more important, and i want to thank the rnc and reince priebus, who has been great. I mean that 100 . He has been so amazing. And he works hard. He will fly if there is an event in california, he will fly on a plane and be there. The guy is terrific. It was Just Announced that the republicans, in terms of the primary voters, final count, 62 of perm for years ago. It is unheard of. Thats an unheard of number. Did you hear that, new tonew t . Host he is saying he can bring primary voters and republicans excited about his candidacy. That is where donald trump is headed to, the headquarters for the rnc on capitol hill. The Capitol Hill Club is where he will be on your screen. He is expected to arrive around 8 30. Then he will go over to the south side and meet with republicans over there. Lawmakers are making their way in, we just heard from greg fine feingold he said he hopes donald trump keeps it brief and that all the lawmakers get to ask him questions about his candidacy and his beliefs. One thing that he has said the if youre and courier interested in watching all of donald trump remise night, there will be coverage on cspan. Org. Georgia, good morning. I dont have a problem with anything that mr. Trump has said. I am totally for him 100 . The ones that need to get behind , representative ryan. I think donald trump needs to keep doing exactly what he is doing. Host what about having new gingrich us is Newt Gingrich as his vp. Will this bridge up divide . Yes, i do. But evidently it is up to mr. Trump. Host lake como, pennsylvania. First of all, i have been a lifelong republican and i am 80 years old. Trump tont to tell mr. Tell the truth and say what he feels and not what people want to hear. My first choice for a vp is michael huckabee. Toike new gingrich new gingrich. The reason we have problems today in politics is because people cannot tell the truth. Correct make America Great again hat on his head coming out of the meeting. With another view of what is happening cap outside of the republican headquarters, we have our periscope feed going if you want to follow us on twitter. , a can see the foot traffic lot of congressional staffers are going to work right now as well. The congressional buildings are , from the metro stop right there. A lot of action is around there. Folks are making their way to work and to meetings on capitol hill. Baltimore, maryland. Caller good morning. 90 of what he talks about is in logic and region reason. We want to have security and keep our manufactures. We want to produce jobs. I dont understand the logic and reason of so much opposition against him. It is almost as if logic and reason doesnt exist any longer. Forave been down this road quite some time, from the Bush Administration. We have eight years of no growth. I drive a tractor trailer all of the country. I watched steel mills get shut down. I watched jobs going out of business or moved overseas. He is just saying that he wants to make America Great again. We just cant afford to go another eight years of the same old policies. Not only that, if all these accusations against Hillary Clinton are true can you imagine her at the pentagon position of the president pinnacle position of the president. Government, ning the whats our policies. Im afraid of that more than anything. Host according to the wall street journal, reporting about this hesitation on hat capitol hill to support donald trump your they said several republicans are withholding ir endorsement, well some while some just ignore the question when it is asked. Adept atns have become finding diplomatic ways to couch their concerns. They look for constant improvement. Kevin mccarthy supporters were scheduled to meet on thursday to say if there is one thing that could shift the dynamic it is mr. Trump himself. Compared with his campaigns from could s speeches, he mr. Trump faces a dubious crowd, not only has mr. Mcconnell complained that he doesnt know the issues, but paul ryan criticized him only a day after endorsing him. On tuesday mr. Ryan warned mr. Tran Trumps Campaign but after cleaned up after his twitter account posted and later changed an image of hillary pointedalong with a six six turkey by many pointed star interpreted by many. As the star of david. Republicans only for the next five minutes or so, how can donald trump unify the party . Bedford, massachusetts. Good morning. Caller good morning. My suggestion to mr. Trump you go in there and tell them, look, i have my views, you have yours. You have every right to have your views. I am running for president , the people have voted for me, they didnt vote for you. The way the senate and house is supposed to work is that the house makes its proposals, and and theident negotiations should occur at that time. If mr. Trump goes in there and starts compromising right now, he will lose the election. If i were mr. Trump, i would send i would say, i am running on my beliefs. If people are voting for me, and i hope you would do the same. When i get elected we can go through the process which is set up by the constitution for us to resolve issues, and i would leave it at that. I would not compromise right now. Ok. baltimore, maryland. Republican. Sayer what i was going to [indiscernible] harder to get people out to vote. Host livonia, michigan, what do you think . I think they should just pull together as a team. You have to remember that we all under the same goal we want to beat Hillary Clinton. Nobody will be right all the time, everybody is going to have their own ideas. They will have to break some ideas down to figure out a solution for everything. I have another question, something that has been bothering me. Hillary clinton goes to these other countries for meetings and she is getting paid for it. She is getting paid by the taxpayers to go on these trips. She is receiving jewelry and money and things like that. Appalled when i found out she gave the veterans hundred 50,000. They deserve more than that. Lewisville, texas, some lawmakers getting stopped by reporters asking questions ahead of this meeting with donald trump, who is expected to arrive any minute now. And to sit down for a question and answer session with House Republicans at the rnc headquarters. Then he will head over to the senate, that the media line on the other side of the street. Ascapture the images lawmakers make their way in to the Republican National committee. We also have our periscope feed going for the washington journal. You can follow us on twitter and see the images. Look at all the media there. They are looking to capture something, get some sort of statement from donald trump and see what he does if he just waves or does he stop and talk before he makes his way in. Also, protesters are out in front of the rnc headquarters as well as. He would need to stick to the platform. Numerous instances where his statements have not conformed with the Party Platform and that is concerning to people. Some people will never vote for him because they think he hijacked the party. Battle ifve an uphill he can unite. His Vice President choice will be pivotal. He needs to get somebody who is more in line with the rank and file, people that have been in the party for a long time. Concernings are just on numerous issues, such as gun trade, abortion, free its not in line with the Party Platform. Youre interested in thinking about gary johnson, we will be covering the libertarian. Ounty Libertarian Party he and his running mate will be at the National Press club today. We will have coverage of that today. Go to our website cspan. Word for more details on an on that. Just like hillary says at the end of her speeches, maybe the force be with you. She should be arrested for all of the thing she has done. Ndm llen, provo, indiana. Like he should listen to what they have to say. But the establishment also needs to listen to what he has to say and realize that the Republican Party is the Republican Party because of the people that support him. Donald trump has gotten more votes in this primary than anybody because of what he has stated he wants to do. Does he need to revamp some of whatloser to to some the republicans want . He shouldnt give all of his ideas know, because the people back in. The establishment needs to realize this. I think that if they sit down and really talk and decide on what they can agree on and meet in the middle on what they cant agree on that maybe they will all be joined together. One thing has to be clear. The American People have spoken. Andrepublicans have spoken they need to keep that in their minds. Think of thisyou from the wall street journal, that mr. Trump met with congressional leaders in may. This week will be the first time his meeting will include right and file rankandfile gop leaders. Thats from the wall street journal this morning. Donald trump will be arriving. Ny second we will get him unless all fall call and maybe were was see the work presented republican nominee. I worked and records management. I would already be in prison if i have retained my records for three years before turning them over. Hillarys records were permanent. Her alone should disqualify and deny the republicans to make sure the clintons are not put back in the white house. They will not be helping themselves. They will not get reelected themselves. Dangerous, and donald trump is this person that will keep her out of the white house. The lawmaker there is talking to a reporter outside of the Capitol Hill Club. Will be getting to Ask Donald Trump some questions this morning. House republicans lawmakers are expected to arrive here and there later this morning he will go to the senate side and talk to Senate Republicans. We will have our cameras there. We have to move on at this point go to cspan. Org later to if donald trump talks to the media, you will find our coverage of it. Will take a short break and while to come back, we will talk with democratic congresswoman karen bass, a member of the Judiciary Committee. We will talk about the fbi investigation into Hillary Clinton, and also the Fatal Police Shooting in baton rouge and minnesota yesterday. On cspan3, saturday 1 50, you have to be wary of not only are men was just by their genre bound to be selfserving to a degree, but most of these people do not want to disclose too much. In some cases it may actually dissemble and try to mislead people. They talk about techniques used by the caa and foreign intelligence service. It was dating back to the cold war and how it has changed since 9 11. Race relationsof in postcivil war memphis. Many thought this is happening. A full black uprising and they panicked. Man armed with pistols and gloves, formed a spontaneous around town march to the shootout, and began shooting , beating every black person they could find. The 1866 riot that resulted in the massacre of dozens of africanamericans. Also the role of federal u. S. Color troops stationed in the city. And author and journalist Walter Isaacsons authors a networking method in an example what he calls a met Americas National character. His view that Small Business would be the backbone of the new economy. Indeed, one of the things that his group didnt is Leather Apron Club where they make a set of rules for how to be a good startup entrepreneur and innovator. On a morning at 10 00, on road to the white house realigned, and in the music of our children were told to everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven. And for america, the time has come at last. You know that every politicians promise has a price. The taxpayer pays the bills. The American People are not going to be taken in by any scheme or government gives money with one hand and takes it away with the other. The 1972 republican and democratic National Convention with Richard Nixon accepting the nomination and south dakota senator George Mcgovern accepting the democratic nomination. For the complete schedule go to cspan. Org washington journal continues. Host back of the table, sheresswoman karen bass, sits on the judiciary and Foreign Affairs committee. Thank you for being here. Begin with those Fatal Police Shootings, baton rouge earlier and then overnight a shooting we learned about in minnesota. Which of congress do . Really needs to look at what is happening in our nation. Looking at both of those shootings was painful, especially baton rouge, because you see more and more tapes come forward. Then last night, to look at what happened where the woman is boyfriend isle her found right in front of your. You can hear the panic in the Police Officer starlet with her. It, on theave record. I think we need to look at what is happening with Law Enforcement in our nation. Theeally need to say documentation, body cams and more community control. I know an instance of baton rouge, the governor acted very quickly. I spoke to a representative there, and i was told that baton rouge has a history of these problems. It is my understanding that one of the officers was cleared a few years ago of another officerinvolved shooting. What can congress do. What laws could you put on the books that were prevent this . Caller i think we need to call for several integration. Regulation. Some standards being set there also needs to be documentation. Heart of the issues is that it is not really clear how many people died in the matter. How many officerinvolve shooting how many people die in custody and how the records are kept is very uneven. That is one thing that congress can do. I do know that many of my colleagues have introduced legislation. One of the bills that was introduced year after several of the shootings calls for body cameras on Police Officers and provided funding for that. I think opening up a dialogue. I am thankful for the Live Streaming. This is something that has been going on in communities, particularly africanamerican and latino communities for decades. The only thing that is new is the documentation. In the past when this happened, usually the individual was said to have been assaulting a Police Officer. The Police Officers word, didnt even dispute it. Now with cell phone cameras, Live Streaming, now at least there is documentation for , that thesee shootings to happen. We cant always say that the individual that is dead is the one that was responsible for losing their own life. Has Justice Department opened a civil rights investigation into the Fatal Shooting of the black man in baton rouge on tuesday. Wednesday is when they announced they would open up the investigation. What questions do you want answered . Thet i want to know backgrounds of the Police Officer zenda want to know about baton rouge. I know it is over 50 africanamerican. I know the Police Department is not representative of that. We are seeing protests all caps the country that black lives matter and it is interesting because the protest if you look at the protesters, they are multiracial. This is a rainbow response. This is not just an africanamerican response to this issue. I heard from a number of activists that they are undergoing harassment and scrutiny and surveillance from Police Departments across the country. There is also a history of this within the country. First amendment rights, people protesting and raising issues should not result in harassment of them or extra scrutiny or surveillance other activism. Birmingham alabama a democrat. Good morning. Caller thank you so much. Im an activist here in birmingham. Had to lobby the city council last year, we have a way Police Officer pepper spray black Police Officer, put his hand on the Service Revolver and told him he would put him in a body bag. They hid that you they want before the city council. They said nothing. The same why Police Officer a year later called another black Police Officer and the black , ande officer pushed him why Police Officer was suspended , and then he or before that twoway Police Officers shoot a black man on the ground, on his knees, and it was covered up. They did not know that the dashcam was on. Police officer was given a metal for shooting the guy. Y rescinded the middle medal. Says,t care what nobody the management of soda, black dogs, andke black they come and will shoot them down at a moments notice. Video where aer white man is fighting to Police Officer speared is slapping him and beating him. Havent been shot yet. But they see black men as animals. The media is helping to cover it up. When i went before the city council and spoke about the Police Officer, he went anonymous. He had to do this interview closedcircuit or nobody would know his name. This is a black Police Officer. This was just a month ago. Host congresswoman . Guest thats incredible. It is very frightening. It i certainly hope that the iry city council is think the federal government needs to take a look at Police Departments, many of them around the country. Thats not to say, of course, there are bad Police Officers. Nobody is accusing the Police Departments all around the country of being corrupt. But where there are problems there needs to be intervention. We need to stop saying this is just an isolated incident. It obviously is not. Host philadelphia, and independent. Caller good morning. Isolated incident. It is isolated to the black community. This is modernday lynching. You have to be politically correct in on it want to be disrespectful. I dont have to be politically correct. And is modern day lynching it is isolated to the black community. Just like the gentleman i call before i did, i have seen the difference before how black people are handled and white people are handled. And all categories, jobs, criminal, housing, justice, health, you name it, black people are treated differently in this country. Guest i dont think anyone would deny that. Racism is not alive and well, we not we do know that it is. I come from california, los angeles, a multiracial state. We have these issues in the africanamerican and latino community. We need to really examine policing in the United States. Theres a couple of different viewpoints, i said on the Judiciary Committee, we had a hearing once were we had Police Officers come in and they talk about different perspectives. One talked about a warrior mentality and a guardian mentality. We know in one city, you can have different communities where the Police Respond differently. Is what needs to change. Theres training and recruitment , a lot of things we need to look at in our nation. I think anytime you have a poor innercity community you dont want to have the Police Officers viewing it at occupying force. They go in and they view the people that live there in a hostile manner. Some examples in los angeles where we have been able to turn this around. We have been able to turn the Community Police relations around. We have our issues with los angeles. Examples ofome where Police Community relations are better. There is communitybased policing. There are examples around the country that could be applied. Host becky in florida, republican. You are next. Morning. Ood thank you for taking my call. First, i would like to say god bless our Law Enforcement community. They have a very difficult job. Would like to say thank for all these body cameras, cell phone cameras, because there is definitely a problem in some communities and in some Law Enforcement are not all of them. Constitution guarantees us he will protection under the law, and clearly that is not what is happening, so we need ,ore video, more body cameras and we need to protect the american public. We also need to protect the reputation of our Law Enforcement community, because there are clearly some bad apples out there. Guest i agree with you. We should never pay in any institution with one brush. Host aurora, illinois, independent caller. Caller good morning. The American People dont get away with the same stuff as Hillary Clinton or. But this question on due process, did he get his due process the same ones that democrats are now trying to strike down some peoples rights in buying guns. Dont believe the democrats are trying to strike down due process. I believe you what you are free for them to is a call for legislation that says if you cannot buy a plane ticket because we think you are a terrorist, you should not be able to buy a gun. There are issues on the nofly list, and we need to make sure that is an appropriate list. But it is the general point that we are trying to make. There has been a number of mass was just, orlando about a month away. In communities around this country we have shootings every single day. And chicago, chicago probably leave the nations in terms of shootings and homicides. In los angeles, we had a on one day in june. We need to do something in our country. The entire world does not operate this way. You have countries where gun violence is a complete anomaly as opposed to something that has been coming desensitize to hear. We have to figure out what to do. There is a series of bills that need to be voted on in the house. One of them is comprehensive background checks. ,e need to close the loophole like the gun show. One of the things that my republican colleagues say is that we have enough laws on the books, and all we need to do is enforce existing laws. But then when the president moves to enable us to enforce forlaw by increasing staff the atf, also increasing technology. The last time we had major gun legislation, we did not have a internet. We need to update the standards in order to enforce the existing laws. Unfortunately, mike republican colleagues did not want that to happen. You about thesk Washington Examiner says the Congressional Black Caucus plans a day of action. You could be disruptive to the speaker of the house when he tries to bring some satellite legislation to the floor. What are you thinking about doing . Guest it is the entire democratic caucus. The most important point is that we are not finished. We will not let this go. Whether removed to disrupt, i certainly hope we do not have to. The issue is we really need the speaker to put the bill on the floor. The speaker didnt want to put a bill on of floor. He couldnt even get the votes together to put a bill he wanted to put on the floor. Conservativehe party are not happy that this did not go through a committee process, that they were allowed to amended during a market with the committee and concerns about that processing and the Constitutional Rights of people and the integrity of the watch list. Glenn in charlotte, north carolina, democrat. Caller good morning. I would like to see across the entire nation people in influence, such as congresspeople, senate, locally and on a National Level to attempt to get across, not just to the black community, but to ,very community and all people if an officer is shot stopping you, if they attempt to detain you, and wish to arrest ordersllow the officers. Have seen, things i and it is so sad when people lose their lives like the jonah did last evening. My heart goes out to his family. The highly publicized things that i have seen on tv, the people are always trying to. Scape from or resist arrest i think that is part of what excessivehis perhaps use of force on the part of the police. Host lets get a response. We need to look at what happened, especially last night, where the woman who was screaming, the officer had asked for his wallet. As for his id. He was moving to give him his id. He informed the officer that he was licensed to carry a gun and the officer fired. On individual incident, but time and time again we are seeing people whether they were resisting or not, the officers used excessive force. The man who is skilled in baton rouge, two officers were on top of him. On his neckir knees and they still shot him anyway. Even if somebody is running away, i dont think that means you shoot them in the back like we have seen numerous times. I think that makes no sense. You cant just say it is the behavior of every individual and that is why we had to kill you. Host william, independent caller. What are your thoughts, william . Caller thank you for taking my call . , we are afraid to get our kids in the street because we are looking to the law when we can call on them anytime. What are we saying in most cases we have to be afraid when we see Police Officers we will be afraid of them. Like the last caller, it just doesnt make sense when the two incidents dont play. Not resisting or whatever the situation is, just probablysee somebody. What more can we do . My issue with the lawmakers instead of doing on issues to save the nation, for example you are on this morning with Hillary Clinton issue, when that has been done over and over. What can this congress do something that israel for the start a are going to spending our money on issues for and start interviewing the fbi director when the when those things are happening before. Prosecutor, why were they never prosecuted. It is only because of this. Lets do the real thing. Host thoughts . Karen bass i certainly agree with the caller we spend a lot of time telling with issues that are not relevant to the American People, and if we want to be serious, will be addressing things like jobs, our infrastructure, living our health care system. That is a lot of issues that i think originally important to the American People, and whether or not we are going to spend all day harassing comey, i dont think that is the most important issue for the American People. Up on capitolctor hill. He will begin testimony in the house reform committee. We will have coverage on cspan3 10 00 a. M. Eastern time. To your the questioning of the fbi director. His boss, the attorney general Loretta Lynch, will be before the Judiciary Committee. I want to talk about that. Should the fbi released the memo , because the directors, the statement was woefully inadequate, he says . He says the memo should be released because of this, based on information comey did relate, clinton repeatedly lied to the American People. For example, march 2015, she held a News Conference where she i did notricans email any classified material to anyone on my email. There is no classified material. The director said that is not true. And then she can just change hurt story. She changed her story. On hundred 10 emails, 52 email chains have been identified to contain classified information. Like to a if you federal officer, that is a crime. Director comey said she created no crimes and should not be a reason to suggest an indictment. And so i think it will be interesting to see what he says in his testimony today, as well as Loretta Lynch next week. Host was she negligent . Loretta lynch . I dont think so. He said she was careless. I think she admits she made a mistake and most certainly would not do it again. Host should she get her clearance revoked . Karen bass i think that is ridiculous. I was surprised because ryan said he did not believe she should have access to classified material. This is the formal secretary of state former secretary of state, former senator. And yet, donald trump can receive information . I was surprised he said that. Host why though . Iten bass i dont think makes sense. She was an outstanding secretary of state. Her poll numbers are very high back then. She was company did all around the world. My republican colleagues have seized on an issue where they are getting political mileage out of, but to say then that the nominee, and i believe the president of United States, that information should be withheld from her . Idling that makes sense, and i was surprised by the speaker. That does not seem like something you would do. We will have a president ial race by donald trump, with no experience on basically anything except for making a lot of money and becoming rich, who says he gets his information on Foreign Policy from the sunday shows, we are going to give him classified information, but not the secretary of state . Is next. O independent, you are on the congresswoman. Caller it seems like you covered up for Hillary Clinton like that. Used theen, when i rodney king incident and how he was beaten 52 times, and how they presented the same video to attorneys were able to just stop frame by frame and then all of a sudden, the police wins. This happens all the time. Politicians do it, and when the jury, did before a grand this all muddled up, the something is muddled up, we cant even see the truth. Id wont ever say violence, but one thing that would get the ifention of all of america violence would start being committed on the people who commit violence. Too many of these cops, they get off with murder. You know it and i know it, but all ofn you go through the layers of bureaucracy and grand jury elite, he feared for his life. It is bold. The people are really tired of it. Karen bass the last thing in the world we need to see is violence against Police Officers. That makes no sense whatsoever. We should respond aggressively. We should make sure that in Police Departments with this problem that they are not investigating themselves. No Police Department should investigate themselves, but to suggest the solution then is for there to be violence i think is a terrible suggestion. Host harry, oakland, maryland. Republican. Caller good to see you. Host thank you. Caller i have a quick question. We see the baltimore situation that has gone on, and i think it is an issue that was made an issue of color, but you have half of the officers. You have the judge. They are being acquitted or a hung jury at this point. It could be somewhat on the behavior of the individuals that lead some of these things. Karen bass you know, it could be the behavior sometimes. ,ou cannot say all the time every time there is a police shooting. Every time you have a situation like you did in the last 48 hours. Two people killed, cameras to show what happens, and it is always the behavior. I think several callers have given an example of other people misbehaving but did not mean to lead to shooting. To sum it up and say all of these shootings that we see on tape is a result of bad behavior, what does that say then . That people behave badly, so police should shoot them and kill them . Host we will move on. The caller is not there anymore. We go to kansas city, missouri, democrat. Caller hello, i just want to say that we had to move. My elderly parents and myself, because i am their caregiver, we had to move from kansas city innercity out to a suburb because it was getting bad in the neighborhood that we were living in. There were drug dealers, there were shootings every day, around our area, and the police did nothing. I dont think we did more calls on the books. Need gunhink we control. I think what we need to do is enforce the laws on it comes to drug dealers, when he goes to gang violence, when it comes to criminals. We need to import the laws. , i would say the Police Officers go by and their cars and not do anything. I would see drug dealers out there doing drugs. Dealing drugs. Karen bass and a lot of communities, you have these extremes where the police are over enforcing or under enforcing. Why do we suggest another looking at it . Laws should be there, but look at the root cause of some problems that happen in these communities. Why do you have a lot of drug dealers, why do you have a lot of people unemployed . If you look at some of the root causes, addressing substance abuse, employment, development and communities, if you have communities where people feel completely abandoned, if you have a lot of people who are incarcerated that get released from prison and they essentially cannot find employment because we banned them working, it is not surprising that the only way the are going to survive is in the illegal community. That is terrible, but when it comes to looking at these situations, we did take a more comprehensive, holistic approach. Just enforcing laws, just throwing people in prison, we know it is not the solution. Just why on the hill, we are trying to address criminal Justice Reform right now. We have experienced over the last couple of decades mass incarceration and a lot of communities are suffering because of that. Taking a comprehensive approach, i believe, is a much better way to address these problems. Host another topic for you, the war in afghanistan. The president that he will reduce the trump slow down the troop reduction. After an internal debate based on a recommendation from the american commander in ofhanistan, because of words the taliban getting a stronger foothold and isis moving in, your colleagues, barbara lee, tweeting out troops will stay into afghanistan confirmed. This endless war will stretch into yet another presidency. Karen bass i absolutely agree, and i think it is just tragic. I would like to see us out of afghanistan completely am a but i do understand the things that happened in our world over the a numberle decades is of failed states. When you have failed state and you completely open up the door for isis and for other terrorist groups to take root. I understand it. I hate to see it happen. Host what do you think Hillary Clinton should do if she were to win the white house in november . Karen bass i certainly hope she would come into the white house with a goal of getting us out of both iraq and afghanistan. I would certainly hope that is the goal she would pursue. I am sure she would not be able to in january or february just pull out all of the troops, but i hope she goes in with that frame of mind. Host does that need to be plotted that part of the platform of the Democratic Party at the convention . Karen bass i know the platform is being worked on now. It will be interesting to see the final product. Or would movegh in that direction, specifically what it will say, we will seek in a few weeks. That in orlando this weekend. Cspan is covering that, to the to cspan. Org for the details. Bernie sanders would like to influence the next go around for the white house in the democratic primary in the process, not only for the platform, but he would like to see the superdelegates abolished , open of the Democratic Party to independent voters. It isbass i think something to be examined, but love you give you let me give you the issue with super delegates. It was new to me to learn the history. Mr. Clyburn, who was involved in superdelegates were established, and by the way, they were never called that, basically said one of the issues was, elected officials, members of congress, go to the convention. They would have to run as delegates. If i have to run as a delegate to go to the convention , i would have to run against my constituents, and i would never want to do that. I would not go to the convention. They came up with a process to include elected officials. I think that those issues should be examined, but whether or not they should be thrown out is another issue. Think senator sanders has already influenced the platform significantly. I dont believe that anybody gets 100 of what they want. If you look at the platform now as it has developed, he has already had a significant influence. Host reporting this morning that sanders confirmed wednesday night that he is in discussion with the hillary Clinton Campaign about a potential endorsement of her candidacy, and he anticipates a coming together of the two campaigns. Karen bass think goodness. There was a lot of people who are sanders supporters who i think this is going to be very , thatant for them to see she is the nominee. The most important thing for a party is to be unified. And very important for not just the United States but the world, we cannot have [indiscernible] independent in texas. Go ahead. Caller i would like to say that Police Brutality and police state sanctioned execution of black people has been happening since the early 1900s. Been happening since black wall street, southern alabama, various cases. We know during the Church Committee hearing the police were in cahoots with the chairs organization, the ku klux klan, to kill Civil Rights Movement members. So the american Justice System has always been biased towards black people. Various other cases, james meredith, murdered in front of a courthouse, no conviction, no accountability, this has been happening since they were born. We have to get over this of asking oppressors for justice. We as black men have to unite, arm ourselves to combat the that has taken over the community in the past 400 years. With all due respect, us not having to go up to the socalled Police Officers is ridiculous. They are human beings. I am a human being. I have the right to deal with this. If they want to come after me with a hostile images, violence, i will go back at them with hostile images and violence. Karen bass my, my, my. Cell phone camera and Live Streaming is new, but it has not helped us if the answer is to go after a violent manner, Law Enforcement. I think that is a terrible idea. I said that a few minutes ago, i will say that again. That would lead to many more people being killed, and i hope you reconsider that. Host we dont advocate violence at at well. Tina in congress, texas. Good morning. Caller good morning. That were similar in both cases. [indiscernible] you of them, either they are you off the gun or after. They did not have a gun permit. You see states changing for that. Dont question the [indiscernible] criminal with intense. And number two, i feel like so much racial common stock [indiscernible] the answer is not to violence [indiscernible] point, we all want to public service, but i feel it [indiscernible] they forgotten the oath they have taken. Accountability, they will keep [indiscernible] that is not a good recipe for success. , aeel that Going Forward nation and a country, a community i would just feel safety. I feel safe in church when police pull up. Karen bass and you know what, i do think there are examples of communitybased leasing where policingficers where Police Officers do not view themselves as they are soldiers in a war. If you have no knowledge of your community, if you feel no connection to the community, then it is not surprising that the way you would go about enforcing the law would be in a hostile manner. There are examples. I mentioned we have had a couple of examples in los angeles. We have a watch Gang Task Force where Police Officers in los angeles Police Department have worked in Public Housing in a manner that has been positive, that has reduced crime and increased the way the police and the community interact. We have other parts of los angeles where that is not the case, where we do have significant problems, and we have had a number of policeinvolved shootings. I think we would have to look at examples and see how we replicate those examples, and the we need to look at the problems amenities phase and communities face and again go after Solutions Like employment, dealing with the dependent development. Host the Baltimore Sun reporting, a trial for lieutenant brian rice, the fourth officer in the freddie gray kreis. Freddie gray case. This is going to get underway this morning at the downtown courthouse. He is the highest ranking of the six Police Officers charged in the april 2015 arrest and death of freddie gray. He severed an injury in the back of a police van and died a week later. During a pretrial hearing, he selected for a bench trial, leaving his fate in the judge rather than a jury of city residents. Our last here for you. Virginiain alexandria,. Republican, you are on the air. Caller i want to circle back about Hillary Clinton and this whole security clearance thing. I myself hold a high level security clearance, so i have access to some of these programs. I went to read something i personally signed and all of my fellows have signed at one point. This is called reporting response abilities. Any read two points. Security violations, no matter how small or were they occurred, previous appointment included, must be reported. Any information or occurrences that may jeopardize your security clearance must be reported. The next block says, while reporting the above information may cause embarrassment or to paperwork, ign the lighting is one of the worst offenses in the security world. If you do not report it, it will be revoked. So why am i held to the standard and other colleagues, but not Hillary Clinton . That is my question. You are implying that secretary clinton was not held to the standard, i think that she was. I think if she had lied, there were charges for the fbi. He chose not to recommend charges. If it had been like, he wouldve done that. If it had been alive, he would have done that. I hope that the people watching and listening to the show here the desperation in some of the callers in terms of the officerinvolved shooting. The desperation that would lead to people saying they need to arm themselves against the Police Department. The idea that we would reduce everything to individuals b it is only certain individuals in certain communities, we have got to get past denial. There is a very deep problem in our country, and we cannot just deny it and say that people misbehaved and that is why you got shot on the spot. Especially when other people behave in the same manner, and they do not meant wind up dead. I just hope that congress can examine this problem, look for solutions, and communities can feel relief before actual violence occurs, like a couple of polars a reference. Callers have referenced. Host you rejected the idea of retaliating back against police in a violent way. ,aren bass absolutely absolutely, i shudder at the thought. The two individuals, ere they try it, what are their thoughts of surviving . That is no solution. To me, the most important point out of what they said is the desperation that people are feeling. This is very painful. The videos are shown over and over again. By the end of the day, we have crystalclear photos of the officer taking the gun out and shooting the guy in his chest. But we are going to debate the behavior of the guy who was on the ground with two Police Officers on top of him. Host karen bass, we have to leave it there. More discussion to come on this. They give are talking to our viewers. Karen bass thanks for having me on. Host we are going to take a break. Our come back, we turn attention to the fbi director on capitol hill this morning. That is underway less than 40 minutes at the House Oversight reform committee, and the committee room. Thoughts on the testimony, on the investigation by thebi director and Loretta Lynch, the attorney general yesterday making the formal step of saying, she will follow the , andmendations for the fbi then the case is closed. The numbers on your screen, start dialing in with your questions, we will get to them after the break. There is a body of literature that it is certain courses you should take, math, science, english, that should be in place if you are expected to be successful in college. Students that have not fulfilled that curriculum obligation, to let them into a school is doing a great disservice to that school. Action,s affirmative which is something to support. Q a. Ncer 8 00 eastern on washington journal continues. [speaking simultaneously] \ host we are back here in washington journal, awaiting the arrival of james comey to give his testimony before the Committee Members about his decision to not recommend criminal charges against the former secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, for using a private server. I want to get your thoughts on that this morning. We will have coverage of the director on cspan3 starting at 10 00 a. M. The hill reporting outrage trumps republicans, calls those hearings with senior Obama Administration officials to review the fbis handling of the investigation of the private email server. Fbi director james comey will appear today, two days after he declined to recommend federal prosecutors bring charges against Hillary Clinton. Following tuesday, attorney general Loretta Lynch will answer questions and the house Judiciary Committee and will likely focus heavily on the clinton matter. On the senate side, a committee has said they would like more information about the fbis investigation. Some have called for the release of the entire memo, put forth by the fbi, and the yearlong fbistigation by its career agents there, within the agency. What are your thoughts on all of this . Dan in baltimore, maryland, independent color. What are you hoping lawmakers ask the fbi director . Caller good morning. Glad to be on your show. I love the way you handle your audience. Good job. I hope and pray that they asked her, to me, forget about indictment and pressing charges. Just because you dont go to jail and express charges does that mean you deserve a security clearance. Me as a 24 year military veteran , i would never ever, and i know everyone of my brothers of arms would say the same thing is no one should ever have a security clearance after the mishandling. And to say that someone does not have a chance, how do you prove . Say 1, 2, 3, 4, or even 10 is a fight emails, because classified emails, because she has a lot of information . So the amount of information they found on her, that alone proves she lied about what she did or did not have. , itave a security clearance tells us in every document that do, you have to be trustworthy. ,he American People, over 60 all across america whether you are democrat or republican or independent says she is not trustworthy. That is what i would like to say. Daniel, what about the fbi director laying out what he did in the press conference the other day, but not saying he has evidence . Saying things like her email server could have been hacked and the but not during the American People and the evidence of that . Caller right, the reality is that the server was hacked, they brought somebody in from another country. We know it has been hacked , assad guyady has sent emails out. They showed intent. So this stuff is already out there. It has already been asked for, people are not investigating. Whether he has enough to criminally charge her is one thing. , as the fbi agency or the doj or any other government agency, would they hire an individual that has done that kind of his handling . Mishandling . Host they did not put forth any evidence. Should he have said anything at all, to that effect . Because Matthew Miller writes, who he writes today in the Washington Post, director of the just of apartment from 2009 to 2011 Justice Department from 2009 to 2011, they will not admit a certain to that rigorous scrutiny i bringing forth charges. Smart not be besmirch someones late decision. Ibn following this president for years. They have been following this precedent for years. Caller the typical politician behind the scenes in power. Power is bigger than any money, never forget that. It goes hand in hand, but there is a lot of power we do not see behind the scenes. I have had topsecret special access. There is a lot of power that goes behind that. You do eat can and cannot do. We all know, the American People know, from the very beginning that this clinton buy, if you will, have more power than one might perceive. Host i will get in some other voices. Michael in arizona, public and. Michael, what do you think . That hashe man essentially freed Hillary Clinton did so on a political basis. I understood at one point where he said, she did not use thenally intend to secret files in her email. Has herut somehow he walk because she did not intentionally do that. Getting back to one last thing, when she was secretary of state, she was constantly hanging the cubans for having their political, political prisoners. Mentioning there is some 2 million americans in jail, more than half of them on drug charges. What is good and what is bad . Ready to goo, so with her boss, president obama, who recognized cuba, she changes her tone of voice. She really felt cuba was violating some kind of massive violation of human rights host i will keep the topic here on the fbi investigation into that private email server. Let me show you where the fbi director is going to be sitting this morning. In the seat before lawmakers on the house government reform, House Oversight reform committee, that is his chair there where folks are walking by. The still photographers sitting down, lining up to take their pictures when he walks into that room around 10 a cut a. M. Eastern time. M. Eastern time. Cspan has cameras there to bring you this on cspan3. Just outside is a reporter, Julian Hattem. Tell us how this hearing came about. Why so quickly, two days after the director said they will not recommend charges . Julian hattem you are right, this is extreme a quickly. On thursday, fbi director james comey said he will not recommend charges. Just last night, wednesday night, Loretta Lynch said she is agreeing with those charges. This has been a very controversial issue. Director comey spoke on two things. There was a backlash among republicans on capitol hill. Criticisms of these that the fbi director laid out, new revelations about Hillary Clintons personal email server , in fact more than 100 emails contain information that should have been classified at the time , she is still not going to press charges. The Legal Standard is gross negligence, and director comey says they did not mean Legal Standard, but Hillary Clinton were extreme a careless. There is a lot of concern about extreme carelessness and gross negligence. Congressl find will end this week, so there is a finite amount of time. They are moving pretty quickly, the weightr realizes in the political significance. There was an announcement earlier this weekend, he is on a number of lawmakers including jason chaffetz, the chairman of the House Oversight committee before him he will be testifying this committee morning, and there is motivation to get out as much as possible and claim his rationale and we can note an event that fbi never really talks about investigations that dont end up leading to prosecutions. But james comey has said this is unusual, so in order to quell a political fear, he is hoping to lay out all his cards on the table, why they arrived at this decision that they did. And why they did not decide to press charges, despite allegations from republicans she should have violated the law, and charges should have been brought against her. Ont so in this statement tuesday, but he go beyond that and give the public new information . Caller that is kind of the question. The fbi is reluctant. In a statement from him earlier this week, it was exceedingly rare. Will be asked about the legal precedent that might have been discouraging the fbi from pressing charges. One of the things he did say in the 15 minute statement was that they looked at rare cases and decided that no feasible prosecutor would press ahead with the charge, which leads to the recommendation not to file charges. He will be asked about that. There were a couple bits of information. But he has to protect the integrity of his own bureau. Inspected expected to come out every time there is a highprofile case. As you noted, there has been criticism he went as far as he did. Expanding with the fbi found while not recommending her prosecution, it looks bad on Hillary Clinton. She did not respond to allegations and charges that ultimately are going to go nowhere. So this is a tough position to him to be in. He will give out some details, probably not as much as rebel against would like. Would like. Icans but the he is a tricky role to play. James comey himself is a republican. He served it during the Bush Administration and has a reputation up here on the hill for being hardnosed and a very serious law man. If a push into hard, said he got too involved with politics, there could be blowback for republicans. So there is a lot going on in this hearing, and i am interested in how they will shake out. Host how long will the fbi director be sitting in that chair, in the hot seat, and what will happen next after todays hearing . Julian hattem to your first question, it depends. It depends on how much he is willing to diebold about the investigation, what led them to this recommendation not to put charges against Hillary Clinton. He is very tightlipped. He said all i can say, that is it. It will go relatively quickly. But if he entertains the questions, it could go over multiple hours. Probably lawmakers on both sides but especially republicans have a lot of questions about the fbi , and i am sure, james comey at least, will want the opportunity to make up for it publicly. After today, this will not be the end of this conversation. Attorney general Loretta Lynch is expected in another House Committee next week on tuesday, a broader hearing, but i am sure that this Hillary Clinton issue is going to dominate a good portion of it, especially following the fuhrer next week last week where she met with former president bill clinton. It average a lot of people on outraged a lot of people on capitol hill. This will be a theme, a kind of hasl exoneration clinton here. She is still facing a lot of political blowback just this morning. Told thespeaker ryan director of National Intelligence formally hes not be granting classified interviews with Hillary Clinton, which is a normal process of the president ial campaign. After the nomination, candidates will receive some sort of debriefing about, here the lay of the land. Paul ryan says clinton should not receive that. And in the senate, a number of republicans are introducing legislation to revoke Hillary Clinton and her security clearance. Could were to win, this way into current administration, maybe not her obviously, but aides might be denied security clearances. This will be a political issue. People with the legal avenue have already been exhausted. Clinton will not move on from the email issue and do the things that she would like. Host the National Director of intelligence has to listen to the speaker of the house . Julian hattem i think it would be very rare, exceedingly unusual for the him to take a that recommendation, not to give. Briefing to Hillary Clinton in a few weeks ago, there were similar allegations, warnings about donald trump, saying is essentially very outspoken. You cannot trust him to keep his mouth shut about Nuclear Secrets or intelligence. I think the director of National Intelligence decided not to give clinton a briefing, that would , because itsetting would be seen as putting a finger on the scale here. This is in many ways a very unusual election for many reasons. Dni,ld not count on the director of National Intelligence, listening to paul ryan at this point, but it will the an issue. Hearll be raised, we will a lot about it at the Republican Convention in cleveland later this month. And for political reasons, this really undercuts one of the prime benefits, prime staring point Hillary Clinton has been saying, which is, i am good on National Security. I will former secretary of state, i know what i am doing. The response now, as has been a notle bit, is no you are carried you jeopardize american secrets with this email system. You threatened the country and you cannot be trusted. This is the political vulnerability especially Going Forward, and it remains to be seen exactly what form that takes in the next two weeks. Inside the go back hearing room up on capitol hill. Anybody else testifying this morning . I see one chair. Julian hattem there were invitations also sent out to the inspectors general from the department and the intelligence community, federal Intelligence Agency. Either the two agencies who, a year ago basically, referred clintons email matter to the Justice Department. They are coming may be, i am not sure the set up. They might appear after james comey. , a this Oversight Department couple weeks ago you might recall the state department aspector general issued rather scathing analysis of the state departments email issue, saying Hillary Clinton in particular he is this private email server which would not have been allowed, but it was not limited to previous secretaries. Across the state department, widespread email troubles problems protecting National Security. Host ok, Julian Hattem reported, just outside the government reform Committee Hearing room or the fbi director will be taking his seat shortly. Thank you. 1 Julian Hattem thank you. Host lets get to your calls. Fort lauderdale, florida, democrat. Give a diet, you are on the air. , you arent on the air. Are on the air. Caller i wanted to say that director comey was correct in his foundings because that law applies to an individual who has secret host you got to listen to the phone, not the tv. That is what caused this convention confusion. Democrat in delaware, go ahead. Caller i would like to know all of these republicans [indiscernible] they spent over 7 million on the benghazi. They did not find nothing. I still wish they could be creating other things. Host republican in texas, what do you think . Caller i have three quick points to make. I am confused because when the attorney general made a statement, he basically said [indiscernible] in the next breath, he said can bewho are doing this subject to prosecution. In other words, hillary is going to get away with it, but others, beware. You cannot do the same thing. It will prosecute you. That hillaryng is clinton, a couple weeks before she was investigated or maybe months, on an interview on tv she says, dont worry. Basically in a jocular manner, dont worry, i dont want to be prosecuted. She knows before the attorney general meeting that she was immune, and that nothing would happen to her. And the third point, i dont think anybody really believe that meeting with the attorney general and bill clinton was personal. I is just unbelievable. Unbelievable. The sequence of time, it is unbelievable it was personal. Douglas. Right voices. T more donald is meeting with House Republicans behind closed doors. Here is a tweet from one lawmaker. Tweeting out what it looks like inside the room, quoting donald trump that chairman reince previous has been terrific, the gop has been great. Voting donald trump about that in cincinnati, ohio last night. You get the image below that, but it looks like inside the room what it looks like inside the room. He is around 10 30, but he was running late. He will be possibly later, meeting with senate replicants at the National Republican Senatorial Committee asdquarters on capitol hill well. Back to your phone calls, in atlanta, republican, armen, what do you make of the fbi directors testimony this morning before the House Oversight Government Reform Committee . In the room, we are awaiting his arrival on lawmakers as well. Good morning, armen, what do you think . Caller i been watching this whole deal go down. I am a donald trump supporter. This is very wrong. This contradicts all the things Hillary Clinton says about herself. Here is a lady who she stepped down from the campaign over this issue and gave her a break. I never had breaks like that. It she isn, i feel getting special treatment. Donald trump would not give that kind of treatment, and he is a celebrity. Are we going to have a decent election if we are all watching her get a walk on this . It is not fair to the country. For fbi chief to testify clinton in congress, he writes the efforts come with potential risk republicans by holding this hearing so quickly and the others next week. Mr. Comey is a veteran Law Enforcement who served as cap andrcement with george bush his highly regarded by both parties for his integrity and independence. , heakes an independent case can make republicans look foolish and bolster efforts by democrats to put the email issue to rest. From the Washington Post, about director comey, they write this, he has made it clear he wants his agents to understand the bureaus history. He makes sure new agents and analysts are aware of the investigation of the reverend Martin Luther king jr. He makes a copy of kennedys approval of fbi director hoovers request for the wiretapping. Substance. Or this piece in the Washington Post says he has not shied away from hard truths. Simi valley, california, independent. Hello. I am sorry, but i have to disagree with the fbi directors approach to this. I think republican bias came through loud and clear. I am sorry, but he broke protocol. His damnation of the entire state department under her, her , andage, as was reckless it was obviously allowed their servers to be hacked when they did not know they were being hacked, etc. , etc. And she was not prosecuted. If you determined this person need not be prosecuted, then why stand up there and take her apart bit by bit for being negligent, etc. Etc. . Perhaps he knew he was prosecuted, he would have to go back and open up the file on powell and condoleezza rice, who used private servers themselves and were found to have confidential information on those things. Whole thingbut the is a mess. If he kept his mouth shut and did his job was, that is give the determination that was made, all of this investigation in her testifying, perhaps we would not be seeing this thing go on and on. Withtaxpayer, i am fed up republicans spending 7 million on benghazi and getting nowhere. She gets a special treatment, and now they are going to pursue the same thing. Host all right, the Washington Times reports republicans plan to make mr. Comey defend his conclusions when he gets in the chair before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and will come armed with similar instances in which the fbi did not make a case did make a case, excuse me. One of those cases concluded a year ago with the Navy Reservist striking a plea agreement, taking a flash drive with classified information when he left afghanistan. In that case, as with mrs. Clinton, investigators found no intent to leak the injured information to energy ages, but mr. Cummings investigators made the case against the reservists, who pleaded to a misdemeanor charge. When he sits in that chair this morning, applicants republicans will come armed with times when the fbi did make a case against those who have mishandled classified information. Lets go to rudy, san antonio, texas. Democrat, good morning. Caller good morning. I have been paying attention to what is going on. They say that she, the state department computers were hacked. Suppose this is a Counter Intelligence ruse. Suppose they did put out information, but it was false and the market top secret. Marked it top secret. It justcurity seems to me like something is not right. This is what i came up with. It was done in world war ii were the told the enemy false information, market top secret. Why not now . And they use that computer, media, all that stuff. They found out that it was, that their computers were hacked, ok . Start feeding information that is top secret but is really false information. Host we going to be watching in about nine minutes . Caller yeah, but i dont think anything is going to come out of it. They need to go into the Intelligence Agency and have a secret meeting and find out what really happened. It could be a Counter Intelligence ruse. We dont know. Watch,ou are planning to rudy and others, you have got to turn over to cspan3 at 10 00 a. M. The house is gaveling in. We will bring you gavel to gavel coverage. The director will be on cspan. Org. Access to a have tv, you can get it on your computer and phone as well. Hillary clinton email investigation, live coverage. Cspan. Org starting here in less than 10 minutes. Our cameras are in the room already waiting for the fbi director and lawmakers. The chairman of that committee, jason chaffetz, is a republican in utah. He will be leading the committee this morning. Elijah, a ranking democrat from theland, was critical of chairman for scheduling this hearing two days after the fbi director made this announcement. He would not be recommending charges for secretary clinton. Joe in new york, independent. You are next, joe. Caller good morning, i like this show. A lot of partisans call the independent line, and give their opinion. I want to clear up some facts, not opinions. There has never been a secretary of state that has used a personal server. They have used a private email for some business deals, that was wrong too. The secretary of state has a reduced a private server. We are talking about a device that has no protection, that is utside the. Gov. Anyone that works for the state, the city, you have to stay in this for file law. Comey, a great guy, but guess what . We have seen other great men doing things. This looks bad. The statute says gross negligence or intent. When he set extremely careless, i would think actually careless is very close to gross negligence, but if you do not want to go there, you are showing an example of an army person that just lost sight of classified information. Would only mean you did not intend to do anything. You just lost control of the classified information. That is why a lot of these peoplests and other mistakenly bring home a flash drive. They dont have to do anything. At very least, what she did was a misdemeanor, and that is why the hearing today. Yes, comey is a very honorable man, but something is wrong here. A misdemeanor was the lowest part. If people actually read the statute, they would understand she needed to be charged with gross negligence. When she went overseas on a private device, James Woolley of shex cia director, said could have gotten something on her device, opened it up in a foreign nation like we all have, get a virus, and use it as a microphone. The secretary of state has ever used a private device overseas. It is a felony. So you are seeing this today. I just want to clear it up. Thank you. Host that was joe in new york. He also mentioned the hearing in five minutes, you can listen to , and if you radio have the cspan out, you can app, you can get cspan radio. You dont need to be near radio or satellite radar. Youd can get it on your phone app. The cspan cap we would listen to the testimony getting under site underway soon in the Oversight Committee hearing room. Lawmakers are getting busy. There is a lot of Media Attention obviously for this testimony. We have got the still photographers in front of the table where the director will be sitting, and the lawmakers on the dais. I think i saw trey gowdy, the chairman of that benghazi hearing, make his way into the room as well. We have questioning from him. Democrats as well on the panel, as well. We will see what questions they have for the fbi director. There is carolyn maloney, a democrat from new york. They will ask questions as well. This meeting gets underway in less than five minutes. Let me to you other things happening on capitol hill this week. Democrats in the senate filibustering sanctuary cities, that legislation put forth on the floor. That is from the Washington Times. Also from the Washington Times, republicans rebuffed the rush for opioid funding. House democrats trying to add a 1 billion in funding to a bill yesterday, designed to combat the opioid epidemic. We covered this meeting between house and senate rub against to bridge the divide between aces of legislation on this. There was information on this online. And republicans are going to subsidiese issue of under the Affordable Care act. There is a Committee Hearing on that this morning, and then there will be another hearing on friday by the energy and commerce committee, explore the ramifications of the panel of outside experts. This is the basis of republican lawmakers lawsuit against the aca, cost subsidies, so that issue up on capitol hill this morning. There is a hearing before the house Foreign Affairs committee prisonuantanamo bays transfers. The disappearance of a former gitmo prisoner transfer to uruguay sharpening debate over the wartime president , even as the House Committee prepares to committeeversight hearing today about the Obama Administrations policies on releasing detainees to other countries. The house Foreign Affairs committee will hear testimony on a. M. This0 00 morning, so good to cspan. Org for some more details. Yesterday, we covered the Federal Reserve governor, daniel to reload. Turillo. We had coverage of that. Fed plays waiting game on rates. More evidence on inflation is needed, so if this is something you are following, you can go to cspan. Org and see that event with the wall street journal yesterday. We have a couple minutes left here in that washington journal, and we will go back to the House Oversight and government reform Committee Hearing room while more lawmakers have taken their seas. The director will be coming out as well to take his seat at the witness table. Onwe await his testimony this fbi investigation into Hillary Clintons private email server. They will be hearing testimony from him today. You can tune in to cspan3, for ourrg, cspan radio coverage of this hearing. Back to calls, jeannie in san bernardino, a republican. We have a minute left. The house might be coming in. I will make it easy for you. The independent said it very well. I think a lot of americans will be very disappointed if any charges are not brought against hillary. He said it more articulate than i can, kudos to him. And i will let you go. Thank you for your program. I appreciate it. You are awesome. Host all right, we will get in tony if we can. Apple valley, california. Democrat. What do you think . Aller i saw this testimony i was leaning towards hillarys comments, the statements that she noted, involved in the email scandal. Firstter listening to the 50 minutes, i thought, they might indict her. But the last two minutes, heres what i did not want to hear, because it sounded she is so guilty. Host i have to leave your comments at that, because we have to go to the house floor. The house is coming in here for their legislative session. Go to cspan3 for the fbi hearing. Live coverage of the house here on cspan.
