Guest im a fairly studious individual so i spent every single evening catching up on issues and as many briefings as i can get to that i can go to. Yesterday we had a very good budget briefing. We had a tax reform briefing yesterday evening. My colleagues and not just from the georgia delegation but from the entire caucus have been extraordinarily helpful in being willing to spend time with me if its before a set of votes and committee, a bill mockup, to help me get up to speed and answer all my questions. That has been really helpful. Host have you had a mentor here with someone specific as a colleague that you have been relying on . Guest congressman doug collins has been terrific. He and i serve on judiciary together. Congressman drew ferguson, he and i serve on education and workforce together and several of the female members, we have a fairly tightknit group. They have really made sure that i know my way around. Host some people when they hear theyre coming to congress, you mention bring a team together. What decisions do you have to make on the practical side to build the staff and the support system you need to do your job . Guest coming in the middle of the cycle, i have a very short window. Members of secretary prices team were very well first and health care issue. They all went with him to hhs. Its a good thing and a bad thing where i had a completely open palette to start over. It is where we spent all but eight months of our marriage. Georgia is home. Inis interesting to be back the washington, d c area with old friends here that have been looking at. Thats been fun. Host what took you from this area to georgia . Guest my husbands job. When we got married, i was working in the bushquayle administration. In 1992, we were not reelected. We do that career paths were going to take us somewhere else. Georgia and Metro Atlanta was number one on a list to go to. Was maybe six months into it and he got a job promotion to go to atlanta. We said lets go check it out. As soon as we got there within three months, i said to him, well honey, i love it here. I told my dad, but you have to tell your mom. One of the ways to keep my feet on the ground is to make sure that i go home and im doing my Grocery Shopping and going to church with the people i represent.
