Thats an important number because as the senate is crossing their own legislation, theyre going to need to meet or beat that number. Thats a key number well be seeing over the next couple of weeks. Additionally, cbo is estimating that over the next decade, 23 million more people with the will be uninsured under the ahca than currently under the Affordable Care act. Thats a big number that democrats are going to focus on. Republicans have said that coverage shouldnt necessarily be the main issue particularly if people have coverage and they cant also use it. Additionally, premiums, those are a really big focus for people in the senate right now. A lot of Senate Republicans say that lowering premium citizen number one priority with this bill. Lowering premiums is their number priority with this bill. One cbo is projecting that premiums under this legislation, as they previously predicted, would tend to increase before 2020 relative to current law. After 2020, theyre saying that average premiums would depend on what waivers were granted to states and how theyre implemented. Its a little bit harder to see what would happen after that. Can you as you look at it tell the impact of Tom Mccarthys amendment, the amendment that was key to the house in getting it passed . Ms. Mcintire yeah, that amendment it seems like it has less cbo to be on first look, a little bit unsure about some of the how this would play out in some states particularly because some states may or may not know right now whether or not theyre going to submit a waiver. First look here seems that that has made this a difficult task for the cbo because it targets what waivers states may apply for and whether or not those would be granted. There was a lot of talk about, in the past week or so, about the possibility of the house having to revote on the bill theyre already passed, whats the status of that . Ms. Mcintire still looking into that. Thats something that might take a little bit longer to tell. The house has to save each of the relevant committees needs to save 1 billion. We have to dig in to make sure that the spending under each Certain Committee that the ways and Means Committee and the energy and commerce committees in the house and the finance and house education and labor and Pensions Committee in the senate each reach their necessary savings, and once thats confirmed, then the house can know that they are good to go go. Ms. Mcintire i think youre going to see senators looking at this for guidance on how theyre looking at it. I think this will be definitely an issue, something, something that the Senate Republicans are looking at as theyre crafting their own legislation, but ultimately Senate Republicans say this isnt the analysis of our bill. So one thing theyll probably look closely at is the premiums number because they have said and prioritized lowering premiums overall. Theyre going to look at what cbo has to say about that i would imagine. But other issue areas they might look at a little bit less closely. And looking at this from political terms, put on the political hat on the release of this, this score, who comes out on top, whos got the better argument here . Republicans or democrats . Ms. Mcintire i think its gone a little bit for both sides here. Democrats are going to jump on the number of people who are going to lose their Health Insurance, which is definitely a political challenge. People that are going to lose their Health Insurance might not like that very much. However, republicans like i said mentioned earlier, you know, theyre looking at can you use your Health Insurance, is it becoming lower in Health Care Costs for people . Those are going to be the two big issues for republicans as well, lowering the federal deficit, getting rid of some of these medicine dates. These mandates.
