Really, this is what i remember doing with her when i worked forrer in the white house, in terms of going to these smaller venue venues giving her an opportunity to talk with people. She did that in 2000 and as secretary of state. This was really her idea. She really wanted to have the chance to just talk with people in these small venues, start the campaign this way and sounds like shes having fun. In chipotle earlier today. The video was relentlessly insultingly vapid, a verizon commercial without the substance adding insult was the demographic box checking nature of the video. However beautifully filmed working mom, check, his mank aunt tra pra knew check, gay pub, hard working Small Businessman check, south racial interracial, check, check. Notice he was much later in the video and starting out, though with people talking about the real issues impacting their lives here and now. Thats what this campaign is really going to be about. Id say the other thing is she did talk about this idea of the deck being stacked sort of for those at the top and not for those at the bottom and the idea of people, again, being able to get ahead and stay ahead, and continue to do well. But we have 18 months and you will hear more of her thinking over the course of this campaign in terms of the policies she wants to talk about and what she would do as president. Again, this was meant to be a starting point. Sure. And certainly tomorrow i think youll start to hear more as she has the opportunity to really talk with people about her ideas, let them ask their questions and hear their thoughts. Karen, there are reports out there that the campaign is planning on raising 2. 5 billion. Is it really planning to raise that much and how can you raise that much money without selling out to the moneyed interests that secretary clinton is planning to combat . Its my understanding actually i think that figure may be a combination of not just of the campaign but other sources. Look i think were all frustrated at the amount of money that there are, that there is in campaigns, but, look, the reality is you cant i dont see her selling out to moneyed interests at all and certainly again would put to people the first thing shes talking about is how we take care of Everyday Americans and sort of being a champion for Everyday Americans and talking about basic issues. Photographically she talked about some of these issues around sort of doddfrank and the banks in 07. Again, not new ideas. And certainly i believe were going to have the money we need to run this campaign. You recently spoke with president obama about this bill. Was it any sort of negotiation or uftdid he just try to order you to drop the bill . What happened . Look ive had no negotiations whatsoever with the white house or the state department. I did get a call wednesday from the president about the bill and obviously he strongly opposes it and expressed that. I got a call thursday from john kerry who strongly opposes the bill. He expressed that but i have not been involved in any negotiations whatsoever with the white house. Ive been talking with my counterpart, ben cardin and other democrats and republicans on the committee. Did they tell to you withdraw the bill . What did they say other than expressing disapproval . Obviously you know as you have noticed, i mean this administration would prefer not to have involvement by congress, but this is one of those cases where congress is the entity that brought iran to the table. Its widely acknowledged by everyone and so appropriately so congress tim cane articulated better than anybody in the committee, at some Point Congress has to lift the sanctions. Look at this on the front end before thats done. Lets let Congress Weigh in on that, and if congress doesnt believe this is an acceptable transaction, have the opportunity for a resolution of disapproval which would stop those sanctions from being lifted. So you know look i want a negotiated agreement, i want it to be a good agreement and i think this is something, jake very beneficial to the administration. In other words, having congress over here as a backstop as their say thing in switzerland negotiating fine details which are very important. A white house version of talking points about whats in this deal and, of course the iranian version, which when you translate it from far seems quite different from the white house version. Yes. Do you, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, have a firm grasp of what has been definitively ay greed to . I dont think anybody else. Look ive read the talking points. Ed administration brought those back and had three conversations with the Energy Secretary about additional conversations. But at the end of the day, jake the American People because of this very reason, i think the American People want somebody on their behalf to sit down and go through these details when they are written down and when go understand them. By the way jake you know this because youve been around so long but that includes all of the classified annexes that come with a deal like this. So thats what our bill is about. So that the American People we dont have this iran saying this russia saying that, the u. S. Saying this. We have a situation where congress on behalf of our people in this nation has the ability to go through this in detail and then determine whether we think this is something that will stand the test of time and keep iran from getting a nuclear weapon.
