Around the possibility that he may have been an intermediary between roger stone and wikileaks, specifically in the time before the 2016 release of hacked emails that were damaging to the clinton campaign. Corsi is a wellknown conspiracy theorist. If a deal comes through, it would indicate he was actually speaking the truth a couple of days ago when he indictment from mueller was coming. I got served a subpoena on august 28th at my home, two fbi agents show up unannounced. I did not talk to the fbi. Of course my wife was pretty startled. We began a series of discussions with them that have gone on for two months. And at the end of that two months, even though i did everything i could to cooperate, the entire negotiation and discussions have just blown up and now i fully anticipate in the next few days i will be indicted by mueller for some form or other of giving false information to the special counsel or to one of the other grand jury or however they want to do the indictment, but im going to be criminally charged. Now, the subpoena came to my home three days before my 72nd birthday, and this has been one of the most frightening experiences of my life. Let me turn now to cnn Senior National correspondent alex marquardt. Remind us the relationship that corsi had with stone and how hes involved in all of this. And how he may be a witness against roger stone. Corsi said he is in talks with the mueller team, but this time hes talking about a possible plea deal, which he has confirmed to cnn. That means that the special counsel will certainly have a lot of questions about that relationship that he has with roger stone and what information was shared between the two of them. Corsi is not someone many people may have heard of. Hes a bit of a fringe player in all of this, but he could provide a crucial missing link between wikileaks and the Trump Campaign, specifically with ricard to coordination with wikileaks and hacked emails in the 2016 election. He said he did not have a source inside wikileaks. He claims he simply developed a theory that his emails had been on tau obtained by wikileaks and would be released in october and then that did happen. He said he shared that information with roger stone, that it was based on open information and the prior release of dnc emails. That prediction then turned out to be true. As you noted, corsi is a conspiracy theorist. He and President Trump were allies in the birther theory that president truobama was not born in the United States and we know that is not true. We dont know the status of a plea deal for corsi. Negotiations are ongoing, they could fall apart. Lets analyze all of this with paul kallen. If corsi does flip, that could be bad news for roger stone. What could he reveal and how might that play into the Bigger Picture of collusion . It could be bad news for stone and could provide a link back to the president. Mueller is circling back to the Trump Campaign. Hes doing what he was told to do, focus on connections between the Trump Campaign and hacking of emails by the russians to influence the election. Roger stone originally said he got his information about wikileaks, which sounded like he was in direct contact with julian assange, not from assange himself but from a talk host, a radio talk host named randy cortico. The connection with corsi is an entirely different connection with corsi indicating he got information and speculated that wikileaks would be leaking this information. But corsi is also linked to President Trump and to roger stone as well. All of these pieces are being put together by mueller. If corsi is in negotiation, does that mean hes given up the goods or hes willing to give up the goods if he gets a good deal . It means hes making a proffer to federal authorities. In these proffer sessions, your lawyer goes in and says, listen, this is the information hell give you. We think it will help your case, but hes not going to do that under oath unless you offer a deal. Now, the prosecutors in turn have to say hes selling something we need to make a case out or to finish the investigation. Theyre not going to offer him a deal unless hes got valuable information that they really cant prove through other sources. When we heard from Rudy Giuliani earlier this week and he was talking about the written answers that trump provided to mueller, axios said mueller asked about the russian hacks during the campaign that immediately followed trumps july 27, 2016 press conference in florida when trump said russia, if youre listening, i hope youre able to find the 30,000 Hillary Clinton emails that are missing. We know mueller has been circling around roger stone. Might corsi be the smoking gun and be the definitive proof of the leak between Russian Hackers and wikileaks to the Trump Campaign . Might this be it . Yes, brooke. I think corsi could be a missing link in the investigation thats putting everything together. I find it fascinating that mueller is so focused on this. Hes on the want hand going after the president with specific questions about this very subject. There are lots of rumors out about roger stone and now we know that hes putting pressure on corsi. So there seems to be sort of a laser beam focus of the Mueller Investigation now on this particular set of individuals, and it all has to do with collusi collusion, the very thing that the president has repeatedly said theres no evidence of collusion, it doesnt exist. Well, if it does exist, these are the people who mueller would be focusing on to prove it. We have just gotten a statement in from roger stone as weve been talking. This is what roger stone says. As one can see from his recent videos and recent videos, my friend, dr. Corsi, has been under a tremendous amount of pressure and it is beginning to affect him profoundly. He has stated publicly he is being asked to say over and over to say things he simply does not believe occurred. I am not aware of any plea talks involving dr. Corsi. Hes an vinvestigative journalit whose activities i would think would be largely covered under the first amendment. As for what he may have known and when he may have known it, his discussions to me regarding the podesta brothers were related to the overseas business interests unearth notre dain th papers. To my best recollection, there was no one publication, mainstream or otherwise that ever mentioned John Podestas email prior to their posting by wikileaks. As i told the Washington Post, if dr. Corsi new John Podestas emails had been obtained by anyone and would be published, he never shared this information with me, nor did he give me any such documents. Thats roger stone. Your reaction. Roger stone is talking like a very worried individual. Hes making before even knowing what corsi is saying to the mueller investigators, hes, you know, making this very detailed Public Statement to try to distance himself and to say that corsi is under tremendous pressure. How would stone know that unless hes had discussions with corsi about this very subject . You can be sure that the mueller lawyers are going to be asking corsi about what discussions hes had with roger stone. Its always dangerous had two people who are being looked at by investigators are sitting down with one another to lets say discuss the facts of the case. A lot of times prosecutors describe that as getting their stories straight. Well have to see how the mueller team handles it. Feeling the pressure. Paul callan, thank you. Thank you, brooke. Also now this breaking story, after a long week of headlines coming out of the white house, just look at all of the happenings from team trump since last saturday. His controversial visit to the california wildfires, his insult of the admiral who oversaw the bin laden raid, his regrets to not visit Arlington National cemetery on veterans day, his reply that he did not know his acting attorney general spoke out whatsoever on the Mueller Probe, his asylum ban getting overturned in court, the fact that he still hasnt visited an active war zone, the white house fully restoring jim acostas press pass, his mission of written answers to special counsel Robert Muellers investigation, his feud with Supreme Court justice john roberts, his stand with the saudis, despite the cia saying the crown prince ordered the hit on u. S. Based journalist Jamal Khashoggi, his acting a. G. Under investigation for campaign contributions, keeping in mind this has all opinion a who wibek and yesterday his highly politicized phone call with troops and backing the saudi royal family saying that the cia did not, quote unquote, come to a conclusion on the crown princes involvement. Now the majority in the house soon to be wants to put that to the test in 2019. Lets go to White House Reporter sara westwood. What is the ranking house intel member congressman adam schiff now saying he wants to do . Reporter well, brooke, congressman adam schiff, who will soon take over the House Intelligence Committee is saying that his committee will look into the death of Jamal Khashoggi and how the administration is responding to it. Thats just part of what House Democrats say theyre going to go after this president for. Obviously we know that are going to target President Trump over his tax returns, we know theyre going to target the president over areas where his Foreign Policy might have overlapped with his business interests. Thats something that the Ranking Member soontobe chairman adam schiff says he want to go after. The president is projecting a sense of optimism, a sense that his white house is not worried about democratic investigations but a lot of republicans have been warning the president will soon face some kind of reality check when democrats do sweep into power come january. Hes never had to preside over divided government and this khashoggi murder and the way that his administration has handled it, in light of the fact that the president has had business dealings in saudi arabia prior to him taking office certainly going to be a focus of democrats and certainly been a point of criticism up to now, brooke. Were going to stay on that reality check. Thank you very much. Let me bring in senior White House Correspondent for bloomberg news. Margaret, weve talked about democrats walking the line of investigation once theyve been charged. Theyre certainly not shying away and look at what soontobe chairman schiff is doing. Right. This is sort of a nobrainer, right. So far the big question has been over the impeachment question. With the new democratic majority coming into the house, some of them are more liberal or Progressive Side than the longerterm career politicians. So to the extent folks on the government committees and oversight panels can tackle sort of new emerging issues like this one, it seems like a no brainer this would be the course schiff would want to take. We know easy for me to talk. I had a lot of turkey yesterday, margaret. Misrepresenting the cias conclusion to protect mbs. They want to look at trumps financial ties to saudi arabia. I say financial ties because as you cover this president , that is mighty close to what he has referred to as the red line, has it not . Thats true. The president talks to the extent mr. Muellers probe dove into business, that would be a red line for him. He had this entire career and Business Empire that continues to exist. And so these are not issues that, you know, setting aside all the particulars of this just in general the sort of parallel structure of having a business and licensing empire and family members kind of some in the business side, some in the white house side, that is not something that president obama or president bush before him have had to contend with. Look, already setting all of this aside, we know that in january when the democrats took over the house that there would be a lot more of a steppedup look at both the aspects of the Mueller Probe and aspects of Foreign Policy in the president s dealings, but this has now all been ratcheted up because of all of this. Even as early as next week the world will be watching as both trump and Mohammed Bin Salman will be at the g20. They will watch how he will be with president put and and with president xi of china. He will be watching the economy because he knows it matters so much with the americans. Do you think next week the president tries to get a deal with xi in buenos aires . There are two issues the g20 is supposed to tackle. One is trade and the other is Climate Change. If apec is any sort of guide to us, you see a willingness on the president to put a stick in the wheels if it serves his messaging or if he feels he can be successful with that sort of a challenge. All eyes are going to be on whether or not xi and President Trump can reach some sort of an accommodation. The president does not at this point seem to be looking for a reason to blink. That is next week, g20. Margaret talev, thank you very. Good to see you. We are learning here at cnn that former cia and nsa director general michael hayden, who works with us here as an analyst suffered a stroke earlier this week. We are told it happened at home and that he is now receiving expert medical care. His family thanks everyone for their warm wishes as he begins the healing process. And, general, from everyone here at cnn, our thoughts certainly with you and we look forward to your recovery and getting back here at cnn as soon as you can. Also just in to cnn, the white house is asking the u. S. Supreme court to take up the administrations transgender military ban. So far federal judges have blocked President Trump from banning most transgender people from opening serving in the u. S. Military. So to Joan Biskupic we go, our cnn analyst. Whats going on here . Right now President Trumps ban on most transgender people serving in the u. S. Military is being litigated in lower courts. Lower courts have blocked the policy from fully taking effect and the Trump Administration instead of waiting for a full airing in lower courts, which normally is the way, has jumped up to the Supreme Court and said, justices, please intervene at this time. They just within the pohour fil cases in california and here in the District Of Columbia saying come in, review it and the timing theyre seeking is review for this time. Usually the justices decide what cases theyll hear from now until april. What theyre saying is this is important to get clarity right now, not to have lower courts hold this up and have any kind of either inconsistencies or just plain block on this new policy that the Trump Administration would want to bar transgender people from serving. Supreme court justices, please resolve this right away. Do you think the Supreme Court will take it . This is a tough one, brooke, because normally no. Normally its very hard to make a case for the justices intervening. Lower courts have in a preliminary way said that this could violate the equality guarantee of the constitution to say that a Certain Group of people would be prohibited from serving based solely on the fact that theyre transgender. So they have a very high bar to pass the administration has a high bar to pass in a compressed period of time. Now, earlier in the week we saw President Trump refer to judges as either obama judges or clinton judges. Now we certainly have some trump judges now on the court and i think the department of justice might think that they might be getting much more of a sympathetic airing, but i dont know. I think that if the court under john roberts agrees to take this up in this kind of urgent manner, it would be sending a signal that would be more favorable to the Trump Administration than usual to an administration. Well watch it and see if they do. Joan, good to see you, thank you very much. Thank you. Coming up next, some of his chilling last words quoting him, god, i dont want to die. It all runs counter to what we have heard from President Trump, as well as the policies weve seen at ages like the epas as th they roll back. Were going to continue reading this and have your team continue to read this and well have more. Thank you for hitting these key notes there. An american missionary wrote about his final days before being killed on a Remote Island off the indian coast. His name is John Allen Chau. He was killed while illegally advising the North Sentinel island last week. He wrote about how he had been shot at with a bow and arrow and it had pierced his bible. He writes you guys might think im crazy in all this but i think its worthwhile to declare jesus to these people. God, i dont want to die. That was the final note to his family, who say they forgive the tribesmen responsible for his death. We turn now to our new delhi bureau chief for more information. Reporter the latest we have is theyre still trying to locate the body of an American Christian missionary, who is believed to have been killed by an isolated tribe. They say John Allen Chau came to india on a tourist visa but he went to the north sent ninel island with tribes known as the sentinelese. The island is strictly off limits for tourists such as chau. Theyre not allowed within five nautical miles of the island, meant to protect both the tribe and outsiders because of the tribes history of forcefully repelling strangers. Chau found escorts to take him closer. He took a canoe the rest of the way. Theyre going by what the fishermen who have been arrested have told them. Meanwhile a friend of chaus tells cnn he knew the island was off limits and that his mission was illegal but he went nonetheless. It all appears to have ended with tragedy. Authorities have sent out experts in the waters near the island to see if they can spot chaus body. Theyve been accompanied by the fishermen who say they saw the body. If they find it, the next step will be working out how to recover it. Thank you. A friend of johns, matt staver, thank you so much for jumping on the phone with me. Im so sorry about your friend. I wanted to read one more quote from johns journal. I hollered my name is john, i love you and jesus loves you. I appreciate his desire to spread the gospel and his passion, but to go to all these far flung places, dangerous places, can you help us understand why he felt so compelled to do so . Sure. Thank you, brooke. Certainly our heart and prayers and thoughts go out to the chau family as they gathered for thanksgiving without john with them. Up kn you know, i met john chau on a trip we did in israel and that was in august of 2015. He was 23 years old at the time. At the time of his death he was one month away from turning 27. At the time he was attending orel roberts university. From High School Days somehow he had a real desire and a passion to go to North Sentinel. And the reason, although he didnt articulate it then, he told other people months and even years later, he wanted to go there because they were one of the most isolated people groups on the planet and he wanted to share jesus with them. He went to that location and unfortunately thats where he, from what all we know, met his last days. His journal entries are absolutely heartbreaking and compelling because that incident in which the arrow was shot and it hit his ware proof bible that he held over his chest was on thursday, november last week. So it was just a week ago. And he has a journal entry that he wanted to go back. He actually had his canoe taken by the sentinelese people from him the day before. From the boat he ultimately swam there and a fisherman left him there to be there overnight. When they came back, they saw him being dragged and shot and being buried, according to their story, on the beach. In his last journal and in his last words to his mom and dad he said the words that youve already quoted. And he also said if they kill me, dont be mad at them, dont be angry at they. Its just the nature of john. You have to understand who he is. He was a very loving person. He loved people. He loved jesus. He loved to be able to share the word of god with people. He was willing in this case, especially as you leave his last words, to give his life to do that. He meant no harm whatsoever, but he also knew his life was in dang when are he got shot and fortunately survived but returned a day later and didnt survive the final attack. Let me repeat those words again. My name is john, i love you and jesus loves you. And again, his parents have forgiven this tribe for doing this to him. Matt staver, thank you very much for joining me and telling us a little bit more about john. [sfx mnemonic] President Trump siding with the saudi government again. He continues to cast doubt about the cias finding about the murder of Jamal Khashoggi while arguing that the flow of money into the United States is important not to lose. Instead of placing blame on the crown prince, he and his secretary of state are blaming what they describe as a dark and vicious world. Its a mean, nasty world out there, the middle east in particular. You take a look at whats going on in iran and the vicious, the vicious situation thats taking place there and the number of people that are being killed and slaughtered. You take a look all over the world. Were not going to be able to lets not deal with anybody. Mabb the world shou maybe the be accountable because the world is a vicious place. You look at whats happening in china and so many different countries. I could name many countries. You look at whats happening with terrorism all over the world. With he is the global Opinions Editor for the Washington Post. Karen, its always great to you have. I want you to react to the president saying its the world, this vicious world to blame for jamals murder. What do you make of that . Its just such a you know, for a president and an administration that has been so preoccupied with projecting strength, with projecting america first, it just is such a sort of weak and cynical statement and it denotes a sort of helplessness in the face of human rights abuses, of oppression and says nothing of, you know, our role in, at least in this case and the case of jamals murder and the war in yemen, in the case of what were seeing to be, you know, global instability and repression coming from saudi arabia, denying that we have any sort of role to play in stopping this. And it just makes us look helpless, and that is not the case. We are not. As the United States of america and as a country that saudi arabia depends very much on for its economy and, frankly, its survival. The statement that the president released a couple of days ago, i havent spoken with you since he released a statement siding with the saudis, maybe he did, maybe he didnt referring to mbs, of the whole thing, what was most unsettling to you when you first read it . I mean, beyond the fact as far as a statement goes, it was written as if it was penned by a middle schooler, not the president of the United States. It just beyond smearing jamal as some sort of enemy of the state of saudi arabia, which he wasnt, i think what was most disturbing about that is, first of all, nobody is claiming that we want to break relations with saudi arabia. The problem isnt so much that, its the issue of Mohammed Bin Salman and the questioning our relationship with a man who not only most likely ordered the butchering of a Washington Post writer, but also has been the main architect of a vicious war in yemen who has kidnapped the Prime Minister of lebanon, has broken diplomatic ties with canada and doesnt deserve this unconditional support from the Trump Administration that he seems to be enjoying. What can we point to for his rise from deputy crown prince to crown prince now . We cant point to any evidence of any stability in the it made us look like a servant to saudi arabia and not a partner. I want to hold you over commercial break and then ask you about the democrats looking at the president s financial ties to saudi arabia. Back in just a moment. Its a feeling thats hard to describe. And even harder to forget. The United States virgin islands. Continuing my conversation with the global Opinions Editor for the Washington Post, karen, i wanted to ask you about how the soontobe chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, adam schiff, he told your paper that democrats will indeed investigate the president s personal financial dealings with saudi arabia. Financial. Do you think that could explain the president s response in all of this . I mean, i think this is absolutely something that we need to look into because the president s response again is bordering on the irrational at this point considering, you know, what our own Intelligence Agency has concluded, again, not guessed, not any sort of feelings. This is with high confidence and in addition to the cias findings, we also know that intelligence from other countries, germany, u. K. , also have similar intelligence as far as the, again, viciousness of Mohammed Bin Salman and in relation to this murder. So its welcome and its absolutely necessary because i think what we need to underscore in this case is that if we allow our administration to turn a blind eye and whether or not thats because of financial interests or not, were in a situation where a lot of peoples lives are in absolute danger. You know, we cant allow for a blank check to be given to ruthless leaders who are just willing to silence anybody and everybody at any time at anyplace. So i think adam schiff, we need to seasonnd a message to the administration as well that if there are conflicts of interest, financial conflicts of interest that is putting money basically before lives, that needs to come to light and that needs to end. Another piece of this, jason rez rezaian, he said he feels a lot less safe working as a journalist. As a journalist who has experienced some of that in the world, i feel a lot less safe today working in the United States of america than i did a couple of hours ago. I think its a horrible message to be sending to the world really condoning this murder only in the interest of our deals with saudi arabia. I was wondering if you agree with this and why. I agree with jason. I also feel less safe. Im more concerned with those who i work with who are from these regimes who have been telling me for the last six weeks since jamals murder, that they are terrified for their lives. If someone as prominent as jamal can just be taken out of the picture in such a gruesome, they feel nobody will stand up to them and nobody will check any of these leaders. That is whats at stake here. Its beyond jamal at this point. Its about whether or not we are willing to stay enough is enough and journalist lives matter, arab lives matter, preexpression matters. This has been such a jamal felt safe. I think jamal felt safe in the United States working for the Washington Post, and i think we also felt that would be something that would protect him. And the idea that it didnt is chilling and so, you know, we have a chance. I dont want us to feel helpless. I think the democrats have a massive role to play, principled republicans, american citizens to press on us to get to the bottom of this and to impose consequences on those who did this because lives are on the lien, people are being killed. Democrats its not right. Democrats and republicans. Keep speaking up, karen. Karen attiah, thank you so much. I really appreciate it.
