Thought of in the the car one day driving back from palm springs with the music up loud. Reporter she turned her acclaimed book into a movie starring meryl streep as a recovering addict embroiled in constant often funny mother daughter drama. Remember my 17th Birthday Party when you lifted your skirt up in front of all those i do not lift my skirt up it twirled up reporter fisher poked fun at the absurdities of show biz life and all manner of selfmedication, including taking pills to control her emotions. Any mood stabilizer is a weight gain sore so whether you feel you feel better but then youre fat so what you gain is a loss. Its not a good situation. Reporter fisher spoke about being bipolar and often turned pain into humor, also writing wishful drinking and shock ay ha shockaholic. Fisher was briefly married to singer paul simon in the 1980s. Years later she gave birth to a daughter, billy catherine, from her relationship with agent brian lord. She debuted in the acclaimed film shampoo. Im nothing like my mother. Reporter in between the star wars movies, fisher landed a mishmash of movie roles, some stinkers under the rainbow hollywood vice squad. Dont you have names for every part of your body . Reporter received praise for soap dish. I think we found our waiter. Reporter and played meg ryans wisecracking friend in when harry met sally. Someone is staring at you in personal growth. Reporter but nothing could, would, or perhaps should loom larger on screen than fisher in star wars. It transported you. It was Extraordinary Entertainment film making. Do you like the princess . I have her over sometimes. Shes a little bitchy, you know . Reporter nearly 40 years after making star wars she wrote a book based on her diaries and for the first time revealed an intense affair with the real han solo, harrison ford. It was han and leia during the week and carrie and harrison during the weekend, she wrote. Ford has not commented. Fisher spent a lifetime trying to separate the princess from the person. One wisecrack at a time. I always felt like i was restricted because i was bigger than life and twice as unpleasant. Theres no question that Carrie Fisher was rocketed into fame with her portrayal of toughtalking Princess Leia in star wars. Admit it, sometimes you think im all right. Occasionally, maybe, when you arent acting like a scoundrel. Scoundrel . Scoundrel . I like the sound of that. Stop that. Stop what . Stop that, my hands are dirty. My hands are dirty, too, what are you afraid of . Afraid . Yo. Youre trembling. Im not trembling. You like me because im a scoundrel. There arent enough scoundrels in your life. I happen to like nice men. Im a nice man. No, youre not, you joining me now, Paul Vercammen and scott mann from access hollywood. Also joining us is nischelle turner. Paul, let me start with you. She had a heart attack on the plane. That we knew. What are we learning about the circumstances of her death . From what we understand she never recovered from the massive heart attack she suffered about 20 minutes from landing in los angeles on her flight from london. She had been at the ucla hospital and the family revealing she died at 8 55. And martin reaction from hollywood pouring fourth. Markh hamill tweeting out no words, devastated. It included a nice picture of the two of them well before star wars caught fire and became the International Phenomenon that it is. And Anthony Daniels tweeted i thought i got what i wanted under the tree. I didnt. I am very, very sad. I feel like i just saw her, you interviewed her before she wrapped up filming of Star Wars Episode 8. What kind of stress was she under, perhaps, or how did she come across to you . She came across to me as someone very with it, very sharp and very very honest. When i interviewed her a year ago for the force awakens which was episode 7 she had her dog gary on her lap during the entire interview. She was extremely honest. You could tell she had a love hate affair with Princess Leia because it was the role that made her famous. It was the role she couldnt escape. But she was a great script doctor she wrote so many books. Postcards from the edge was her life with her mother with Debbie Reynolds. The last time i saw her was in september at the telluride film festival. She was there to support the documentary bright lights which is the movie about her relationship with her mother Debbie Reynolds. Talk about a rocky relationship. They love each other, theyve had their struggles together. What a life theyve had, but you could tell they truly, truly loved each other. But she was very with it, very healthy, very on and again her dog gary was with her the entire time during the festival and during the interview we had on camera for access hollywood her dog was on her lap. The dog was part of the interview, very, very funny, very honest. In a refreshing way because its not 134g ysomething you get in town. Its the honesty about the way she spoke in her own life. Absolutely. Nischelle, i want to ask you, her portrayal of the princess is the one we most remember but she had so much depth in her work in so many ways that people may not have been aware of. Absolutely. I mean, she was she had numerous guest stars on television shows, she was a script writer, they called her the script doctor. She would come in and fix different scripts. She was a working actress. She stayed working. Scott mentioned this and its very true. She had this very much of a love hate relationship with Princess Leia. She said in her book wishful drinking in 2008 that george lucas ruined her life in the best possible way because he made her a superstar but he made her a star that she could never escape from. We also talked a lot about Carrie Fisher talked a lot about being an advocate for Mental Health awareness. She did all of these things in hollywood but she was also very open and honest about her struggles with bipolar disorder. She spoke out for the community. She was also open about her struggles with alcoholism. She was a very honest woman. Scott also mentioned her dog gary was always by her side. We do know and weve reported at entertainment tonight that her dog gary was there with her in the hospital. Her dog gary had a twitter account and he has tweeted this morning the condolences that carrie has now passed away. He also spoke about her relationship with her mother, that it was an often rocky relationship and Debbie Reynolds just put out a statement thanking everyone who has given her daughter good wishes and she said thank you to everyone whos embraced the gifts and talents of my beloved and amazing daughter. Shes grateful for the thoughts and prayers that are guiding her to her next stop and she signed it love carries mother. Getting back to the sincerity and honesty. When she spoke about addictions and problems many people would not like to make public, heres an interview with larry king, 1990, talking about that. Do you know why you were an addict, carrie . Is that explainable . No. Well, i dont know. I mean, i think my father is or was one. He just got out of betty ford and im i was very like him in my tastes. I liked i didnt like illegal drugs, i liked legal drugs so i liked medicine because i liked the philosophy of it, youre going to feel better when you take two or eight of these. And i always wanted to feel better and one of the side effects of percodane is euphoria and i thought that was a side effect that i could live with. It doesnt matter that the rest are palpitations, heart attack and death. I couldnt get over euphoria. Are you now over euphoria . Im dysphoric now. Am i over the need to be euphoric . Yeah, or ill have to find other methods because the route i took led the rehab now i do a relaxing talk show when i want to feel great or like myself. Is it day to day absolutely. Kitty dukakis is going to be with us monday and she ends her book by saying its still day to day difficult. Is it day to day difficult for you . Sometimes it can be minute to minute. Some days arent that difficult and some are worse. Sometimes i want an iv hookup everywhere that i am. If you cant have it, you have to put your head down and move through those feelings and hope youre building the right kind of character. You get a sense of her remarkable sense of humor in that clip as she talks to larry king. Im wondering. That honesty that comes through in a world thats mostly make believe seems so unique. Especially to her. That was unique. And for people of my generation, generation x, i was eight years old when i saw star wars for the first time. So for my generation and every generation that followed especially with the release of the force awakens last year, people have discovered Princess Leia and they fell in love with her onscreen character and its shocking to see her being so honest about her relationship with her mother, about her struggles with bien d s wits wi, her addiction to pills and alcohol where she has been open about in her books but when you see her as Princess Leia, this Strong Female character, one of the only Strong Female characters in the original trilogy, if not the only one, you see her in these interviews, its like two completely different people and you see why she could have been trapped by the fame she got with Princess Leia. But to everyone who discovered her as Princess Leia, she will always be our princess all over the world and the force will be with her always. Maybe this is myth but i heard george lucas was not sold on her tough attitude as a princess. Up until then princesses had been soft. She had a different portrayal. She did and george lucas was apprehensive in the beginning. He was not immediately sold on Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia. He even told her to slim down a little bit before they started shoot i shooting the original film. She took over that movie. It was about Luke Skywalker and han sol lo but Princess Leia waa Strong Female character and when that movie came out that was a very, very big deal. It was a trailblazing role, a Ground Breaking role thats the reason why Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia resonates so strongly. So she was right to play the character the way she did because look at how many people fell in love with the strength of that character. Well put, scott, nischelle and paul, thank you for helping us reflect back on the life of Carrie Fisher. Thank you. Next, tensions rising between the United States and one of its strongest allies, israel, after the nations latest move that critics say flies in the face of that controversial u. N. Resolution plus, straight ahead, history is about to happen that shows the healing that can come from war. President obama and ja poons Prime Minister are about to visit the attack site that drew america into world war ii. As after a dvt blood clot, ital i sure had a lot to think about. What about the people i care about . Including this little girl. And what if this happened again . I was given warfarin in the hospital, but wondered, was this the best treatment for me . So i asked my doctor. And he recommended eliquis. Eliquis treats dvt and pe blood clots and reduces the risk of them happening again. Yes, eliquis treats dvt and pe blood clots. Eliquis also had significantly less major bleeding than the standard treatment. Both made me turn around my thinking. Dont stop eliquis unless your doctor tells you to. Eliquis can cause serious and in rare cases fatal bleeding. Dont take eliquis if you have an artificial heart valve or abnormal bleeding. If you had a spinal injection while on eliquis call your doctor right away if you have tingling, numbness, or muscle weakness. While taking eliquis, you may bruise more easily. And it may take longer than usual for bleeding to stop. Seek immediate medical care for sudden signs of bleeding, like unusual bruising. Eliquis may increase your bleeding risk if you take certain medicines. Tell your doctor about all planned medical or dental procedures. Eliquis treats dvt and pe blood clots. Plus had less major bleeding. Both made eliquis the right treatment for me. Ask your doctor if switching to eliquis is right for you. Welcome back, a movement some say the world needs to see now more than ever. Two nations once at war return too the site where their conflict began, together, this time in peace. Athena jones has a preview of the historic event. Reporter today kicks off with a bilateral meeting between the president and Prime Minister followed by a wreath laying ceremony aboard the uss arizona memorial. Later the two deliver a wrarema focused on reconciliation. Its something one witness i spoke to is welcoming. 95yearold robert lee says hes glad to see japanese Prime Minister shinzo abe making this trip. Its the greatest thing in the world. Reporter he remembers well the surprise attack 74 years ago where more than 2,400 people lost their lives. Its very vivid in my memory. Very much so. Reporter still a young man, just two years out of high school rotc, he looked on from his bedroom, later dashing to his front lawn as japanese bombers flew low over his home, headed for battleship row. I grabbed my. 22caliber target rifle and shot all 1 16. 22caliber shots. At the plane . At the plane. Reporter thinking it would work. Of course not, no [ laughter ] it could scarcely kill a mouse. By midnight, he had joined the military, serving domestically throughout the war. It was a long emotional day that left lee angry, but he isnt angry anymore. Hate is the greatest destroyer of anyone. The idea that you can harbor hate will destroy you. Reporter its that understand the president celebrated at his. Since that fateful day we have made choices that give us hope. The United States and japan forged not only an alliance but a friendship that has won far more for our people than we could ever claim through war. Reporter a message p. M. Abe is certain to echo as he pays tribute at this watery grave, now a sacred site. The Prime Minister will offer prayers for those who lost their lives but dont expect an apology. His will be a forwardlooking speech. Back to you. Athena jones, thank you very much. Well look forward to that moment in history. From the current president acknowledging the nations past to the next president getting ready for the nations future. President elect donald trump announced a new pick for his White House Team and its for a newly formed position involving homeland security. Lets get to senior washington correspondent jeff zeleny for the details. Hes in palm beach, florida, where trump has been Holding Meetings at his maralago resort. Tell us about the latest pick and tell us how trump has elevated this position. Martin, donald trump is reaching into the george w. Bush administration as he looks for and appoints someone in charge of homeland security, counterterrorism and cyber security, its not a new position. Obama, of course, has had someone in that position, her name is lisa monaco, her name shes been oversee these responsibilities as well but what it appears the trump team is doing is elevating thomas bow start to be an equal with retired Lieutenant General michael flynn. One of them will be in charge of threats to the homeland and one will be in charge of threats internationally and overseas. Simply separating the offices as they used to be in the Bush Administration. Thomas boss cert is a veteran of the Bush Administrationert is a the Bush Administration and he was a strong proponent of the iraq war, donald trump campaigned against it and railed against the Bush Administrations support of the iraq war and Thomas Bossert wrote just last year this in the washington times, lets look. He said to be clear, the use of military force against iraq and afghanistan was and remains just. Of course the iraq war not front and center of this conversation any longer but it was ten years ago this week that Saddam Hussein was executed so certainly donald trump tapping someone he has a difference of views with to serve as one of his key advisers in the west wing. Very interesting point. Jeff, stay there for a moment because we want to bring into this conversation shelby holiday. Hes politics and Business Reporter for the wall street journal. Shelby, trump is also making news again on twitter. Heres one example. The world was gloomy before i won. There was no hope, now the market is up nearly 10 and Christmas Spending is over a trillion dollars. Do you think, shelby, he can take credit for the Holiday Spending and a surge in the stock market . That was a pretty that was a big tweet, i dont know if he can f he can take all of the credit but the market is up. Investors are very excited about the proposals for lower taxes, fewer regulations. Businesses are announcing theyre planning to hire more people now and things are looking up but can trump take credit for all of the economy . Can he say it was a gloomy doomy world . Absolutely not. As we saw under obama, jobs more people have jobs, the unemployment number is at a low, the fed is raising rates again so its a trump tweet, you can take it at face value, i suppose. It could also be companies are speculating he will be good on the words hes said so theyre getting ready for what they hope will be an improved economy. Moving on to foreign affairs, trump has set his sights now on the United Nations, the target of israel after a resolution to condemned israeli settlements and disputed territory. Heres another trump tweet. The United Nations has such a Great Potential but right now it is just a club for people to get together, talk and have a good time. So sad. How do you think the members of the United Nations are going to take this one . Not well and the United Nations some members of the United Nations, some officials, have been very critical of donald trump even before the election calling him out for his statements about using terror, killing the families of terrorists, building a wall. You know, donald trump and some United Nations officials havent gotten along anyway so this could be daump counterpunching. It could also be donald trump threatening the United Nations but if you talk to people who are experts on this, i was just speaking to our wall street journal reporter on the United Nations, trump being combative with the United Nations would not serve the United States well. Its not a club where they go talk about happy things. Theyve been discussing syria, north korea, very serious issues throughout the year, its a really theyre dealing with tough issues and if donald trump could do something it would be withdraw funding. However, that gap would be likely filled by china or other u. N. Members and any of the permanent members could veto Donald Trumps actions if he wants to actually try to negotiate or play hardball with the United Nations. So this is a path he should tread lightly on and a lot of people are saying this is cause for concern. Its often the United Nations, im saying, choice that many people like to criticize often because they dont fully understand it. Moving on, jeff, newly named White House PressSecretary Sean Spicer said trumps use of twitter will be really exciting part of trumps presidency. Do you think trumps tweets are going to make spicers job harder or easier . I think i already know the answer but go ahead. Martin, it seems it would make his job more difficult, usually the press secretary is the face and the voice of any administration. The question i guess will be at what times of the day, how often and more importantly what the president elect will say in social media on his own. He has his own channel. Weve not seen this. A bit of uncharted territory here. His supporters love to see the tweets from him but the real question is and even some of Donald Trumps own advisors know that the complications of this of sending out policy signals the the real issue. Hes already had to clean up and explain several things he said on twitter just in the last couple weeks alone, certainly since hes been elected here so i think sean spicer may be right on the exciting part, im not sure if it wont make his job more difficult. Right because i could see the president tweeting out something immediately after his press secretary said something and it becomes a roundrobin. Lets talk about jim sciutto, hes interviewed senator Lindsey Graham and john mccain and senator graham says when it comes to putin and russias interference with the u. S. Election we talked a lot about this nearly the entire senate disagrees with the president elect. Hes had multiple opportunities, and i want you to answer, senator graham, before and action the election to accept that assessment and yet hes doubled and tripled down on talking about a cozier relationship with putin, denying the intelligence communitys assessment, what are you going to do senator graham and senator mccain if he doesnt change his tune . There are 100 United States senators, Amy Klobuchar is on this trip with us, shes a democrat from minnesota. 99 of us believe the russians did this and well do something about it along with senator mccain, well have the hearings and put sanctions together that hit put putin as an individual and his inner circle for interfering with our election. They do it all over the world. Estonia is hit all the time. Theyre interfering in elections and democratic countrys efforts to selfdetermination all over the world, just not in our backyard. Shelby, do you see president elect trump coming around on russia . What happens if he continues to cast doubt . We dont see him coming around, at least not to the and point of these republicans in congress, that makes his picks for his cabinet interesting. L they be more friendly towards russia . Rex tillerson, his pick for secretary of state has a relationship with putin, were not sure if he will be friendlier towards russia at this point but there are people in Donald Trumps cabinet like retired general james mattis who have taken a pretty hard stance against russias interference in ukraine, for example, there are people in trumps cabinet who are not so friend ly and those are the people who could influence donald trump and his perspective. We will see. Shelby holiday, jeff zeleny, thank you both for joining us. Still ahead, actress and writer Carrie Fisher died today at the age of 60. Up next, well look back at her life and hear thoughts and remembrances from her friends and family. Stay with us. I want to get back to our breaking news, the death of iconic movie star Carrie Fisher. She died after stuffing a heart attack on a flight from london four days ago. She was best known for her role as toughtalking Princess Leia in star wars. She revived her role the force awakens, the seventh film in the popular franchise we lost our son forever. No, it was snoke. He seduced our son to the dark side but we can still save him. Me, you. If luke couldnt reach him, how could i . Luke is a jedi. Youre his father. Joining me now is the critic for access hollywood and cnns entertainment reporter. Chloe, let me start with you. I understand clearly the emotions and messages are pouring in from molly wood. What are we hearing . Obviously people were hoping Carrie Fisher was going to pull through over the weekend ing her mother and daughter said she seemed to be in stable condition. We knew she was on a ventilator, we knew she suffered a massive heart attack on a flight from london to l. A. 50 minutes before it was supposed to land but the outporing of support from hollywood and condolences has been overwhelming in the past few minutes since weve learned of her death. Markh hamill wrote no words devastated. Her former costar right there very upset over her passing. Then we also have William Shatner who wrote im deeply saddened to learn of the death of Carrie Fisher, i will miss our banterings, a wonderful talent and light has been extinguished. The list goes on and on, from Ellen Degeneres who had her own her show to ryan seacrest. Its overwhelming. Scott, i wanted to ask you, we are going to see her again. I know that we just did see her in episode 7. Theres an episode 8 in which she will appear, correct . That is correct. Backing up just a little bit, you will also see her very, very briefly in the brand new star wars movie out in theaters right now rogue one. She has a very small role but its a very pivotal role and a very profound moment in that film that leads into the original trilogy. But to get back to what you were saying, martin, yes, she does have a substantial role in Star Wars Episode 8 which is the continuing story of the saga. That movie is supposed to open decemberover 2017. Now, we dont know what happens to her character in that movie, we know that from the force awakens that han solo died so will generally a y leia, contin evolve . What does that mean for Star Wars Episode 9 . How are they going to handle the situation there . That is something that is going affect the future of the star wars series if the character of general leia continues to advance as the series progresses. What have will they do . That will be a big question and a big one for fans of the star wars series which is just about everybody. It is just about everybody. One last question, scott. How did she feel about getting back into the role of princess, now general leia . Thats a great question. For a long time Princess Leia was a gift because it made her famous but it was a curse because it made her so famous thats all everyone saw her as. For people from my generation, generation y and the generations that followed, they had this image of Princess Leia from return of the jedi in that gold bikini. They made a joke about it on the tv series friends and thats something a lot of people from all the generations have thought about so for her to come back as Princess Leia it was something that because so much time had passed between return of the jedi and the force awakens, which was about 33 years, that it was something when i interviewed her last year for access hollywood it was something she was excited about because the new star wars films were really embracing Strong Female characters. Back in the original trilogy, it was just perscriptirincess leia. Now in these films you have a lot of Strong Female characters and that was something Carrie Fisher was excited about and proud of. It can be tied directly back to her role. Scott and chloe, thank you for joining us. Thank you, martin. Thank you. Still to come, a historic moment set to take place with president obama and ja bans Prime Minister as they visit pearl harbor. Well have what happens for you live. Resolution condemning settlement construction there in the west bank. The resolution led to a bitter war of words between the israeli Prime Minister and the white house because although the u. S. Abstained from the vote, a spokesman for israeli Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahu told cnn they have ironclad information that the u. S. Pushed for the resolution. A claim the u. S. Denies. We have ironclad information from sources in the arab world and internationally and were going to share that information with the Incoming Administration through the proper channels and if the new administration chooses to share that information thats their prerogative. By definition its not an ambush when president obama and secretary kerry have been saying in hundreds of conversations and in Public Comments that israeli settlement activity was pushing into the west bank in a way that was making the twostate solution unachievable. Oren lieberman is in jerusalem where hes been tracking these fastbreaking developments. I understand an israeli official says evidence of u. S. Involvement will be in the u. N. And it will be shared with the Trump Administration. Whats the latest on the standoff . Well, theyre being incredibly vague about what it is this information is or the evidence that they have against the u. S. Administration. They say that a senior israeli official says that its information that indicates there were that the u. S. Was a covert partner in pushing this through and advancing it. Thats an accusation the u. S. Has denied, not only the latest part of the accusation but going back until since the first time we heard it. The palestinians deny it as well saying this was worked on with other countries and the u. S. Decided to abstain and yet its an accusation the israelis have not let go, only ramping it up in the last few days, martin. Then theres secretary of state john kerry. Hes expected to deliver a speech later this week that will lay out president obamas vision for the middle east. Ive covered the violence in that region for a long time and any hopes for peace are welcomed but 24 days left in your administration you come out with a peace plan . What do we know about this . Well, martin, let me point out this is not without precedent. When clintons term was up he laid out his peace plan thats now colloquially known as the clinton parameters. It was clintons vision for peace. I suspect he came to the same conclusion, theres no immediate end to the conflict so he decided to weigh in on how to solve the most complex and difficult issues in the region and that seems to be what secretary of state kerry intends to do, giving guidelines on how the u. S. Views the complex issues, the status of jerusalem, palestinian refugees, borders and other issues. So its not uncommon. Hour seriously will it be taken . The palestinians say theyll take it very seriously. Theyll view it as a positive development. The u. S. Weighing in trying to establish where the grounds are for making some progress on the complex issues. The israelis are taking it seriously for the opposite reason. Theyre furious and would rather see kerry not weigh in at all. Theyd rather see kerry and the u. S. Have chosen to use the veto power a few days ago. This is how kerry feels he can make a difference. Lay out a vision that maybe one day well call the kerry parameters. Lets hope so. Oren lieberman, thank you very much for joining us. I wanted to bring in david andellman and michael ohanlon, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and the author of bending history, Barack ObamasForeign Policy. Let me start with you, michael. Netanyahu and obama famously have been at odds. Weve all seen this for the past eight years and now the israeli Prime Minister has been saying how much he is looking forward to working with donald trump. So how exactly do we expect that things will change . Well, you know, theyre going to change a lot in tone and probably in substance based on where things have been now in the last week between obama and netanyahu. Even though i tend to at a broad level strategically agree with president obama in criticizing the israeli settlements, i wonder if this might be a tactical mistake by the Obama Administration because were setting up big risks with not only netanyahu but also trump. What i thought might have been a better approach is if president obama and president elect trump could have issued a joimt statement in which they might have looked for common american purpose that could have bridged january 20 and maybe we then veto the resolution but express concern about any settlements that would compromise the possibility of an ultimate twostate solution, in other words, president obama try to use his wisdom, experience, and leverage on this issue to begin to influence the way mr. Trump rigt pursue a Peace Process rather than set up a stark confrontation between not only the us and the israelis but obama and the trump approach. Thats creative, ill give you that and it sounds like it would have been a diplomatic way to approach and meld two administrations as well as Foreign Policy with a strong ally. David, i want to play for you some sound from the palestinians. Heres what a Senior Member of the plo told cnn this morning. This is something that israel is not used to because its used to getting preferential treatment and violating theimpu. Weve been urging the u. S. To do what is consistent with its own long held positions since the days of ronald reagan. Every Single Administration has said the settlements are illegal and must stop. So i know Hanan Ashrawi well. Clearly the palestinians have to be keirful of the coming administration, right . Absolutely. My main concern right now for israel is that theyre becoming increasingly isolated. 14 members of the security council, all of the major western european powers voted against this and the french are holding a scheduled a big conference on palestine on the 15th of january. So the israelis are painting themselves further and further into the corner. The Trump Administration has new priorities, this will be one of them, the question is whether netanyahu can rely on the u. S. To be its one and sole ally in the western world in all of this. Michael, i want to go back to your original picture you painted of these two administrations. What do you think will happen . I think with every passing year it further reduces the longterm hope for peace because of the fact of the settlements together with the deterioration of the palestinian political debate internally, those two trends. So thats why im most concerned not about settlements in general but about the specific settlements going into areas of East Jerusalem or the west bank that take away the possibility of a future palestinian state because they take away the ability for one land area to be held together contiguously. So the u. N. Resolution could have been more specific to say we understand some settlements will continue within certain areas where its relatively harmless. You could imagine trades where the palestinians could be compensated for certain settlement zones, what were really worried about is where you rear breaking new ground or interrupting the different territories within the west bank and East Jerusalem. Thats where i would have liked to see more clarity. Thats where i think obama had a chance to work with trump although thats con jek dhurl i admit. Theres so much more id love to talk to you about. David andelman, thank you very much, michael ohanlon, got to see you as well. Up next, more on the death of actress Carrie Fisher. Oh, my god what the this is just one of the brawls that broke out at more than a dozen malls on the day after christmas e. Cnns sara sidner is on the story from los angeles and sara, nice to see you. Were talking about several incidents across the nation, right . More than a dozen, mayhem in shopping malls, if you will, all the way from new york to colorado to connecticut. Brawls breaking out among teenagers in malls that were, of course, packed with families doing the traditional thing we do after the Holiday Season return unwanted gifts. This is what families were encountering, for example, in manchester, connecticut. People screaming, punches being thrown inside the shops here at buckland hills, ending with a chase and an officer assaulted trying to break it up. Lets move on to fort worth, texas, another incident. A mall put on lockdown after massive fight ensues near the food court. This one Authorities Say involved more than 100 middle and high school students. The madness ending with officers going store to store to let shoppers out once that lockdown was lifted and then to aurora, illinois, another fight involving people at fox valley mall. There were several people involved in that fight. The mall forced to close for the entire day after that and yet another one in ohio. Another fight near the food court again. A lot of similarities here. Lets go to colorado. The aurora town mall closed and evacuated after not one but several fights broke out inside the mall. But heres what police say prompted what happened there. Our investigation revealed how this all started was from social media. There was something that was going around on social media about a fight that was going to take place here at the town center of aurora which is what drew all of these people who were up to no good to our mall. It wasnt just fights scaring people. Something else happened in chattanooga, tennessee. Police say teenagers set off fireworks. That completely freaked out shoppers who mistook the sound of fireworks for gunshots and they went running. Several shoppers were injured there as they tried to get to safety. It turned out there were no gunshots, indeed, it was fireworks but this is a trend that has troubling implications because in new york city several people were trampled, one person having to be taken out by a stretcher because, again, they thought there were gunshots and it turned out it was chaos from a fight.
